Laurent follows Gedoe to the doors, in the hopes that soon the mushrooms will be found.
"Aye. Though I wonder what that beast was doing here, sleeping of all things."
Readied action, attack goblin if it gets in range.
Laurent readies his blade to attack the sleeping form should it approach him.
Reflect: d20+5=11
"You're no battering ram... I just can't kick it down myself, and you're a stoutish sort of fellow."
"Stinks in here. You mind kicking down that door, Nerek?"
After saying this, Laurent pulls out a red handkerchief and places it over his mouth and nose, sword gripped in the other hand.
If I have a line on the door, I make a spot check, too. spot: d20-1 = 17
Laurent mumbles, "I have a bad feeling about this. Hope to heaven we get out soon."
Spellcraft: d20+8 = 28 (nat 20)
"Looks to be a scroll that calls forth a spiritual weapon to fight for you. You're usually quicker than that, Vish. What gives? Hmm... maybe we should get movin'. The quicker we're done here, the less people'll die."
In the hallway with Calar, sword drawn
Anything of worth in the room? Search d20-1=13
Laurent comments, "Maybe one of the former masters left a valuable clue in his jacket pocket." and unenthusiastically looks through the musty leftovers in the room.
Laurent places the small items on the ground near the body and then motions the rest of the party to come to quietly approach his position.
As they approach, he will place 2 of the silver pieces over the man's eyes.
"Peace for the dead."
No heal skill, either. Laurent casts a look around the courtyard and then searches the pack, trying not to make a racket.
spot: d20-1=3
search: d20-1=18
"Hmm, won't be drinkin' that water."
No knowledge nature here. Laurent continues sneaking about, in the direction of the well (in order to inspect the body). Move Silently: d20+5=21
"Needs a bloody clean, that stable. Still, this place'd be alright to stay in with a little spruce.", Laurent thinks to himself.
Laurent draws his dagger and slowly moves forward into the courtyard, hugging the left wall and trying to remain quiet. Move Silently d20+5=7.
"Someone called?" Laurant whispers as he tries to sneak by the others into the courtyard.
"Aye, these woods are more full of nastiness than I ever remember. Let's stay together and see what we can find out before we go in."
Laurent tries to look for tracks. Spot check d20-1 = 11
Assemble and Roll Out.
Laurent puts hit things together and shoulders them. To Vishantos, "Are you gonna make it back?"
"I say we move on. No offense, master thief, but you might just cover our scents if any of that hunter's friends are tracking us. We should put as much distance between ourselves and that body as possible. And to be perfectly honest, this place give me the willies."
Laurent examines his longsword for dents from fighting the cauldron an tries to scrape any away with a honing stone, hoping the others are finding the rat's tail by themselves.
Another attack with the longsword d20+1+1(bless)+2(flank)=17 d8+1 = 7. After attacking, I will take a 5ft step to C4 so Nerek can get in.
Seriously, I wish I could roll this well in my normal game. It's always a long series of 7s and 5s on my poor d20s. :)
"See what you can do with that mace o' yours!"
Attack the pot with the longsword - d20+1+1(bless)=15, damage d8+1=7.
Between swings, Laurent remarks to Calar, "Always something, eh? Who makes a pot like this anyway?"
I don't have time to check again for many hours, so I attempt to attack the cauldron with my drawn sword. d20+1 = nat 1. If I couldn't get an angle on the cauldron, I will just yell encouragement.
"Oy....uh.. get that pot!"
Standing next to Nerek, hoping for no more zombies
Laurent wipes his blade on the grass, leaving the gore behind and steps away. "Messy lot, aren't they? Now, eyes on. Master thief up there is about to have a look-see." With that, Laurent moves away from the stink of the corpse and focuses on Geddoe's actions, sword still drawn.
Attack with longsword. atk=d20+1=19, dmg=d8+1=7
Laurent gets within striking distance and attempts to "disconnect" the zombie's torso and legs, mumbling "Where are the damn undead comin' from? Something's afoot..."
Laurent slowly draws his sword and whispers to the others near him, "Get down and keep your weapons loose." Then, pointing in the direction from which the sound came, he continues, "Somethin' is tryin' to sneak up on us."
"You'll hear nary a peep from me, master sneak. Be careful of the witch. Not many know, but she's just misunderstood.... and be quick about your sneaking. I've seen enough of the legends of these woods proved true this week. And try not to disturb any o' the charms." Laurent whispers after Geddoe.
Bardic Knowledge Roll to know more about the witch: d20 + 3 = 21
First time Daze has ever worked for me. Woo.
"The witch should be closer." Addressing everyone, "If you're not in need of a rest, we should get moving while the weather holds."
Laurent gets some of his rations out and eats a bit as he re-shoulders his gear.
Laurent makes a series of motions with his hands and says, "Hope it works this time!".
casts Daze, DC 12
4 = d20 - 1
Laurent whistles through his teeth. "I've ne'er seen the like of it."
"Off we go!"
Laurent is up after wolves.
Laurent will cast Daze (DC 12) on the wolf about to attack him and then move to get the tree between him and the wolf.
If I have line of sight, throw a dagger at the nearest one and then try to get cover behind the tree. Otherwise, get line of sight and throw a dagger at the nearest one.
dagger 9 = 5 + 3 + 1
"I could use a bit more help!"
Calar wrote: I imagine bard effects are gone by now. Should be up until round 7.
Listen is 16 = 15 + 1. Laurent tries to get cover on the opposite side of the tree from the attacker and get out his dagger.
"Give up! Your fowl are dead and I'll see you join them if ya don't throw down your weapons!", Laurent shouts as he ducks behind the tree, barely standing after the last attack.
Laurent stops singing and runs toward where the other members are looking and shooting, longsword at the ready.
Double move toward my best estimate of the attacker's position
Forgot my action.
Laurent begins to sing an inspirational melody that might go something like this, "Avoid, avoid, avoid the dangerous crossbow bolt's sting." Laurent then ducks in the hopes of gaining some cover from any trees or bushes that might be between he and the attacker.
That was inspire courage. Everyone has +1 morale bonus to hit, damage, and saving throws vs. fear and charm effects. Also, I couldn't resist a little Elan.
Init: 17

"S#$%! What was that?!"
"I think you might be right, Nerek. Get it over with and let's get out o' here before we find that hunter.
Spot: 17 - 1 = 16
I'm in the back.
"Can't tell what it is either. Best stay on our toes just in case something bigger's still 'round."
Didn't want to come off as crabby or an <explitive>, dragon. Sorry if I did.
Laurent loosens his longsword in its sheath and marches behind the others, whistling a low tune as he goes and keeping his eyes peeled for whatever nasty things might want to have the party for a snack.
Laurent approaches Nerek and quietly asks, "What do you know about the ruins? I know naught but what others've told. Just a pile of stones from what I hear."
Did we lose our DM? :)
"Rhoddam, is it true about your nephew Jack? Has he taken ill? I don't think Laurel'll be able to stop it if so. Her gran's cure, of which Nerek here was just speaking may be the only thing to save him if he's got the taint. Let us help."
"Aye, a good idea, Nerek. As for the beasties that live 'round these parts, we've got wolves, who do hound the axes something fierce. Huge bugs that'll suck all the blood out of you before you know what's happening up near the swamps. I hear about Old Shuffles and 'is rat livin' in these parts, and his stink's gettin' no better with age. Of course, the faeries are none too kind to those what invade their space. And one mist always be on the lookout for thieves and charlatans.", Laurent says whilst looking at Geddoe. "We'll be fine if we keep our wits and don't make a ruckus." Laurent glances at Nerek in his scalemail and Calar in his chain and lifts his finger in front of his mouth, "So, shhh." With a wink, Laurent begins a hustle in the direction of the consortium's camp.
I looked at D0's list of potential baddies...
Taking the lead on the road to the consoritum, Laruent begins to explain, "The consortium's a tricky thing. They're here to make money, no doubt, and some folks have been hurt because o' their methods, but Falcon's Hollow'd be less than a speck on a map withou' 'em." Extending an arm and pointing toward the hill full of large homes, "Them that live in the Perch sometimes care little about what happens down here, but their money brings merchants and travellers here, and that means opportunity for those that'll take it."
Changing moods to something dark rather than contemplative, Laurent gives warning, "Now, these woods are usually quiet, but don' drop your guard. I've scars from wandering too close to nasty beasties, and don't reckon I want more. The consortium's full o' hard men, and you'd best not drop your guard there either, even if you be with Vishantos and myself."
I read the above stuff to mean the audience with Laurel was over.
"At night, the woods can be... wild. You also would have nowhere to stay there. Let's meet here at the Jak before dawn on tomorrow and get there afore Rhoddam takes off for the day. Don't know him well so I can't say if it's true or not, but I hear his nephew's taken ill. A piece of luck for us maybe. Would be a shame if young Jack were to die. Has the voice of an angel, he does, not that his ma encouraged it... *Ahem* Tomorrow, then?"
Vishantos wrote: "...and there's nothing up my other sleeve..." "...and my dears, nothing 'twixt his ears..." *toot loot doooot*
Comprehending Vishantos is more than just a strong back for hire for the first time, Laurent thinks to himself, "Should have been working together sooner, he's quite good."
(*toot toot*)
Laurent tells the others, "Good luck, lads!", as they reach the door. He pulls out his panpipes and begins playing jaunty tunes in time with Vistantos's illusions to keep the line behind in the good mood Vishantos has instilled, hoping Lady Laurel doesn't recognize his playing.
"It's just a couple doors down, and Laurel's a bit cross with me. Something about a book I borrowed and gave back to with the cover half burned off. It was an honest mistake, but I'll stick outside if it's the same to ya."
Laurent rolls a 10 (10+0) on his fort save.
ooc: should have done this earlier, but forgot.
