So this may well be my favorite race. But I feel like it could be expanded upon greatly with new types of Skinwalkers. So here is a quick list of some that I'd love to see: Deer-Kin: She would be fast and agile though relatively weak physically. I would give her minuses to fear effects but bonus to perception Turtle-Kin: This comes from watching a bit too much Kung-Fu Panda but with this I might give a +1 to AC. Maybe a +2 on AC if going full defense. I might make them slower. Rabbit-Kin: Fast and agile so similar to the Deer-Kin. Perhaps small sized in Hybrid form. Gorilla-Kin: Strong and aggressive perhaps reflected in bonuses to Str and Con. Bonus to Intimidate (hopefully with chest beating at game tables). Could even play a bit with King Kong themes and have them susceptible to enchantments from the preferred gender. Racoon-Kin: Nocturnal and curious. So dark vision. Minuses to illusion spells. Because they are quite tricky I would suggest bonuses to Disable Device and Escape Artist. Swan-Kin: Graceful and majestic is how I imagine them. So bonuses to Dex and Chr perhaps offset by minus to strength. I might give them a bonus to Diplomacy and knowledge Nobility. Any thoughts or animals you might like to see anthropomorphized as well?
I am just about set to start a Rise of the Runelords game. This is not a pbp but held in real time over a virtual table top. Virtual Tabletop: Maptools v.91 Communication: ventrillo for both In Character and Out of Character chatter. 15 point build
Time: 6 GMT, 1 EST on Tuesdays. So euro friendly. We already have confirmed a healing cleric of Cayden Cailean and a Evoker Wizard. Maximum characters will be 5.
So I'm considering playing a Medium in an upcoming AP. I have an interesting concept, personality and everything all ready to go. But my only worry is that a character with as much potential diversity of mechanical play as the Medium class will end up getting pigeonholed into a specific role instead of having the opportunity to be the jack-of-all trades that she seems to be designed to be. So I hope to hear other people's experiences with this class in AP play as well as recommendations on avoiding being pigeonholed into filling a single role (which among my mates would probably be healer). Thanks in advance.
So I've been considering running a game of Legacy of Fire with my online group. I would consider them to have a very high Pathfinder IQ in terms of how to build a very strong character with all the best options and gear. So in reviewing the books to Legacy of Fire I can tell even with updates to PF the encounters are still very easy, or at least will be for my group of players. So my question is would it be advisable to limit the access to more recent material and stick with a leaning towards CORE and perhaps the ACG only?
I've read a few people knock about the idea that they award the capstone abilities in the last level the PCs are expected to actively reach. This is intriguing to me, does anyone have any experience with this and if so can you share? From a theoretical standpoint will it completely unbalance the final encounters? I'm very much considering implementing this in the two APs Im currently running (Giantslayer and Mummy's Mask) and want hear about potential pitfalls I should be aware of and prepare for.
So if you were a high level Warlord living and ruling in a very hostile territory what sort of defenses might you install into your castle to prevent assassins, incursions and other unwanted guests? Magic and Mundane, monsters and minions - what would work best? To be more specific this pertains to Grask ulreth the Orc Warlord of Belkzen who lives in Urgir.
In my game we are inbetween book 2 and 3. With the end of book 2 I wanted to conclude the orc section by having the PCs secure peace for Trunau with Urgir. As such they met up with Grask Uleth who began to send my players off on a series of quests to demonstrate that the people of Trunau have worth and should be protected. So yes I have gone off script a bit here. So after the first quest things did not go so well in negotiations, some of the PCs disrespected Grask in a public forum and so he has called off peace talks. That said, this has caused discord among my players and a great deal of infighting. The player who was chief among those who disrespected Grask has now snuck into his castle. We stopped the game there as it had gone way off the rails. So my question is, what sort of defenses should the Warlord of Belkzen have in his castle?
So I've just finished up the second book in the series and am considering tossing the epic AD&D 1E module Steading of the Hill Giant Chief into the campaign. It seems like a perfect fit somewhere in the 3rd book of the series but my question is, what is a good average party level in a Pathfinder Conversion to use this with my players? Also how would you handle... Spoiler: the room with Cheif Nosnra and Wife, the Sub-Chief, Cloud Giant, 3 stone giants, 22 hill giants, 8 ogres and 1 cave bear?
Considering GMing the AP Mummy's Mask. Forum: maptools with ventrillo for voice chat. Will also incorporate pbp for inbetween game RP. When: Sundays 6 GMT, 1 EST. Considerations: 3rd party content allowed on a case by case assessment
Post here if interested of PM me with character ideas. Acceptance into the game is not first come first serve but rather determined by good character concepts.
When: Thursdays: 6 GMT/ 1 PM EST Giantslayer The Giantslayer Adventure Path begins! In the human town of Trunau, a beleaguered settlement surrounded by the brutal orcs of the Hold of Belkzen, the heroes must investigate a mysterious death. Before they uncover the truth, however, Trunau comes under attack by an orc army, and the heroes must help defend it—only to discover that the situation is worse than anyone realizes. For even the fearsome orc raid is just a distraction allowing a giant chieftain to recover the relics of an ancient giant hero from a tomb long forgotten beneath the town. Online forum

INTEREST CHECK The premise is that a mysterious ancient structure has been found in the River Kingdom area of Golarion. The new queen of that particular section of the land is Leannan Sidhe of Tir Na Nog. She has commissioned a group of adventurers with ties to the Pathfinder Society to explore this structure and eliminate any threat it might pose and secure powerful relics so they don't fall into the hands of less trustworthy groups. (Tir Na Nog is the setting kingdom established in the Kingmaker game I'm currently playing in) We'll be using the rules that govern Pathfinder Society and I'll report report each level to the Pathfinder Society site as scenarios run granting chronicle sheets to my players. So for those interested in playing, registering with the Pathfinder Society is strongly encouraged. I want to run this more as an Adventure Path so I'm hoping to keep a steady group rather than the pick-up-group nature of most PFS games. Though from time to time additional players may join for a game or two. If players are interested in personal stories for their characters I will certainly be willing to run side adventures as requested though not for experience nor loot as its still being run according to PFS rules. We'll use maptools as the VTT and ventrillo for IC and OOC chat, as such a mic is essential. Additionally RP on the message boards will be encouraged. Times: Monday evening from 6-9ish EST. Post interest in this forum or PM me.
Please don't forget Tian Xia! We are half way through this season and still nothing from Tian Xia. Please don't follow the TSR, WotC model of introducing the Asian Analog and promptly forgetting about it. IMO the best scenarios of season 3 were the ones set in Tian Xia that paid homage to great Asian films! More please please, pretty please!
I got the chance to listen to Mike Brock on the Know Direction Podcast. Was nice to get to associated a voice with the words and hear some hints about Season 4. Great Job Mike. :)
So I have a player in my local game that wishes to play a Kitsune, in fact is obsessed with them. Thats cool and great with one big problem... I know nothing about them aside from the fluff material about their tendencies towards liking art and practical jokes. Now this player is a great RPer and a person that really reacts well to story archs so I want to reward her with nuggets of juicy RP goodness that will make her Kitsune shine. So Im asking the community for some advice, what sort of story archs can you suggest that will help me let this Kitsune shine in my game? Are there great Kitsune myths I can draw upon?
So with the coming new season of PFS, where are some locations you'd love to see new scenarios set? Personally for me, I'd really enjoy to see some of Alkenstar for us gunslinger inclined players. I'd also like more Tain scenarios as a felt that of the Season 3 ones I played, these were among the best. The Mana Wastes might prove interesting! If I could convince Santa I was a good girl, I'd also ask for something even more exotic that touched on some of the locations presented in Distant Worlds... but I doubt I could ever bamboozle Mr. Claus that much. :)
For me its the Defenders of Nesting Swallow!!! I love how you can really run it in several ways with so much of the build up to the end being sandboxy. I also like that it can be run in a home game over the course of several sessions with plenty of time set aside for RP interaction. Of course its homage to the Seven Samurai only adds to its greatness. How about you guys? Whats your favorite to run and why? Maybwe you'll inspire some of us who havent yet run your favorites. :)
Im reading the Guide to PFS play and in regards to running a low level scenario multiple times I read: "GMs can receive another Chronicle sheet each time they
By Teir 1 scenarios does that include ones that run from T1-5? FOr example, were I to run Frostfur Captives which is lvl 1-5 multiple times in T 1-2 would I receive multiple chronicle sheets to be applied to multiple lvl 1-2 characters? Cheers
Im pretty new to running PFS games, only having done 5 scenarios to date, most of which ran over virtual game tables such as maptools. My questions is this, when I reach out to find an additional player or two to join my group of players, how much leyaway do I have in refusing players? For example, can I tell the min/max powergamer no thanks? What about the newest flavour of the month broken builds that some players love to run? Myself and my group tends to focus on Role-Playing, creative problem solving and player-NPC interaction. Ive had the fun of that style game disrupted more than once by players who favor highly min/maxed builds and a more war gamer style of gaming playing at our table. Is it ok to ask in a recruitment post on a forum - no powergamers or summoners or RPcentric player only - for this game? How about if there are already 4 melee types, can I post we only want casters? Please advise?
Pathfinder Society Scenario #3-09: The Quest for Perfection—Part I: The Edge of Heaven Saturday Feb 4th
So I found meself with a wee bit of time off this coming Saturday (short notice I know) and figured it would be a grand idea to game!!! So I'm trying to grab some people for a Pathfinder Society game and run a scenario using maptools as the gaming forum with skype for voice. I dont care if your not a Society member and just want to try Pathfinder for the first time. I can provide characters. If you are a Society member than all the better for you. Im going to run it as a Tier 1 game. So if your free, bored and want to play drop a post or hit me up on Skype on Haddy-lass.
What the best modules based on whatever criteria you want to judge, combat, story, RP encounters, art etc? My personal top five (not having read CoT, CotCT, or LoF): 1. Smuggler's Shiv: Such an amazing opening to an AP. Can be played in several different ways too. 2. Sound of a Thousand Screams: Love the way it reads like a demented Fairy Book story. 3. Children of the Void: Great mix of horror and Sci-Fi. I read this an thought of Aliens. 4. Trail of the Monster: Speaking of Horror, awesome flavor with one of the best NPCs ever at the center of the story. 5. Stolen Lands: Fun and new wayto start an AP and the BBEG was also quite cool!
Female Pixie Bard
(Here is a place where you guys can talk IC between game sessions. Take advantage of this to take care of between game discussion and even shopping.) The tavern is warm at night, with the immediate threat of bandits gone, a noticeable amount of travelers have begun to pass through the Trading Post. This evening a fire rages in the brick stove, a long legged blond female bard with a clear Varisian accent sings songs of lost love, and the ale tastes vaguely of blueberry. Two groups of travelers sit at tables exchanging rumours and off-colour jokes.
Female Pixie Bard
Involves a good mix of RP and Combat. RP over voice
GM style: Less concerned about policing character sheets, I use an honor system that trusts players to create effective but not broketastic characters. Less of a focus on constant skills checks. I believe that a PC can actually see things without having to roll perception checks. Leveling takes place at intervals established in accordance with the suggested progression of the Kingmaker AP. As such I do not hand out xp at the end of game sessions. I'll let the PCs determine treasure and magic item distribution. |
