After a fit of wheezing and hacking brought on by the spores Kawrock chirps in. "This is a vile hive of skum and moldery." He walks down the passage past Lena and Wren. "Shall we see what else is down here?"

Sorry all for the sporadic posts the last few months. Been dealing with some health issues, and after a nights sleep with a strange device on my wrist and finger I have finally found the root of the problem, sleep apnea. Still have a few weeks to get through till I get a CPAP machine and I'm back to my normal self so please bare with me.

I have never seen an official ruling on this, but I have seen it come up many times. The general ruling from the PbP community and the frequent PbP GMs is that it is perfectly fine to hold GM credit and apply it to the charter once his current PbP scenario is complete. While it is technically a grey area that has not been officially addressed it is very common practice and has not to my knowledge been abused. I'll even admit to doing it myself a few times.

That is not correct. Only the Core rule book, the character traits web enhancement, and the guide to organized play are core legal. The field guide, often confused with the guide to organized play, is not legal for core. So no there are no vanities available unless they appear on a chronicle.

Again I feel like I have to point this out. There is a strong online community that holds conventions for both VTT and PbP. These conventions give out the same race boons that the other conventions do. If you can post on these boards you have access to these boons if you put in the effort.

Paizo has no interest in selling boons for profit. Yes they do auction off a few every year, but those are for charity purposes. While it seems like a nice idea and there might be some strong feed back in favor of it. I do not see Pazio doing this to its players.

6-98 and 6-99 are single table, pregenerated character scenarios. One will convert to a 4 star GM exclusive and the other to a 5 star GM exclusive after Gen Con.

Well, I was excited until I saw that.
Why?

Why? Because not everyone can attend conventions, not everyone can get together with groups that have a 4 or 5 star GM, and even when they do, that might not be what's on the docket. I am certain this is less of a concern in areas with a very active PFS participation, but not all areas... and thus not all players... have that luxury.

I get specials like Bonekeep, designed as special challenge to your player characters, but these are two scenarios using specific pregens to allow players to play something outside of the normal allowances for PFS, and now the access to them will become gated. I am sorry but I do not agree with using something as a reward to your 4/5 star GMs, when that reward comes at the expense of limiting the access to other players.

These adventures seem to me to be something more of the player base would be interested in experiencing, but now it will put a limit on that, and I just don't see the point. You should never design a reward for some, that makes other people beholden to them to be able to experience game content.

Just my take, obviously you may feel otherwise.

I see this complaint a lot still and I do not really see it as a valid one anymore. There is a very strong online community with 4 and 5 star gms and online conventions for both VTT and PbP, they even give out boons. The games are there you just need to look a little harder. Try reaching out to one of the Online VOs (yes there are specific VOs just for online play) who would love to show you how to get started.

Lady Origena sighs and mutters under her breath It's like this every time I go to make a withdraw at the local temple." She clears her throat before answering all of questions she was bombarded with. "This contract has no clause for any harm that may befall you. It is a risky job, but it pays well to compensate for that fact. The heir to the estate is some cousin down in Yanmass. As to the wizard Hunclay your new associates can tell you more. I only know that man was would not stop hounding me to take down that tower and that he is a know recluse. If you actually take the time to read the contract you will see that it is there to protect you as long as you preform the job correctly. I understand that mistakes will be made and what some rampaging magical construct does is beyond your control. I know you have some sort of honor code that puts you above such thing, but you also have an honor code to follow the rules and regulations regarding the proper collection and transfer of an estate." She simply glares and Zilchus and says, "If you have a code of honor sir then I am just a simple priestess of Calistria. If I told you the methods of verifying stolen property that would just give you time to find a work around." Finially she turns to Davros, "A simple X will suffice if you are incapable of writing your own name.' She then looks over the ragtag group, "Now do you all wish to undertake this job? Or shall I find others willing to make some honest coin?"

No where does it state the word "all" in there. It simply states that it by passes DR. If you are confused by what type of DR an adamantine item by passes I would refer you to the DR section in the core rule book. Again this is a mundane none magical item, simply putting the words "Trusty Buddy" on it does not give it all DR by passing power.

Brian Fruzen wrote:

I'm inclined to believe the wording is intentional. It's called the "trusty buddy" after all, and I find the idea of a mundane crowbar being the answer when all other forms of attack fail to be quite hilarious and awesome.

I don't believe the kinds of creatures that this would prove superior against (DR/-- and DR/epic) are prevalent enough in PFS scenarios to really make this a "must have" item for most players. I know I would prefer an adamantine greatsword for my two-handed melee characters against pretty much every encounter I've played through to date, and the extra investment in improvised weapon feats for every other character seems extraneous in most cases. I'll admit, the trusty buddy is good, really good even. I would still allow it to work as written at my table precisely because the quirkiness of the item would make it really easy to describe the action of the encounter in a fun, flavorful way.

So you believe that a 3,002 gold non magical tool is more powerful then a +4 weapon? Also considering there is no weapon that gets through DR/-? That's a pretty long leap of faith for a novelty item.
