"Kyren! I demand an answer! Where are all these girls supposed to stay?!"
"Bobo, my cousin, I was sure you would be delighted to have some young ladies staying with us! You know what they say about the Revive, don't you? There's always room for one more! Let them come on in! There's always room. We'll let them share one of the guest rooms. We just need to make sure that we have enough food to keep them well fed. I hope you've got some of Gobbletor's recipes all lined up!"
"My friends, let's us not talk of hallucinogenic drugs and getting drunk in the presence of these great children. Naturally, we all want to celebrate the rescuing of these little darlings, but let's wait until we've put them to bed! Come, let's make our way home."
Kyren gladly says goodbye to the pyramid, the cultists, and the zombies and leads his companions back to the Revive.
Kyren nimbly dodges out of the way by pretending he is the feather of an eagle. Not unlike his work with gliders, the Tosscobble flows with the wind current and avoids being struck on the head by an unwelcome shard.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
"Krazzleboks! Look out for flying debris and chunks of metal!. I guess they just don't make pyramids the way the use to!"
Once he lands on the ground, he brushes himself off and immediately casts mage hand to direct the light weight feather falling friends to a safer location.
"Feather, feather, avoid the weather! It's raining more than cats and dogs!"
He will try to aid somebody who looks like they are having trouble floating down safely.
Kyren moves his hand in a quick flourish and declares "Feathermalever!" to cast feather fall upon himself and the remaining party members (6 medium sized creatures). He casts a second one if needed.
"Let's get carried away! Not like our usual shenanigans. We'll do that later, but carried away as the wind gently takes down to the ground!"
Kyren makes sure the rest are floating safely down before he jumps off the pyramid yelling "Kazaaaaaaam!".
"Kazam! Kazam! Double Kazam! Alchy, I had no idea that you had that in you! That sure is a nifty trick! I'm sorry that I don't have any birdseed to offer you, but I know some ladies who would be mighty grateful for a ride."
Kyren helps comfort the girls and assure them that things will be alright.
"Come along, my dearies. Let's not fight about who gets to go first, there will be time for us all to get a ride. Alchy was an amazing cat and an even better eagle, he will swoop you up and get you down in no time. Just wait right there when you get back to ground level. Come here, my dear, you will be first."
"Alchy, here is your first customer!"
"Yes, an eagle would be very helpful at this time, but I'm not sure how likely it is for one to show up out of the blue and start giving us rides. Crazzleboks, maybe if we had some gourmet bird seed to try and lure it close. We also might want to think about hiding Blaze, the cat. I'm not sure that birds and cats get along so well, especially if they are both big!"
"Bring us to this place you decribed - we will do whatever you want, but please, safe us!"
"Then come along. Come along, my dears. We will be safely visiting around a table, enjoying some gourmet food before long. First we need to get out of here safely. Please pair yourselves up and keep track of everyone. We do not want to leave any of you behind. Now do we have everyone?"
Turning to Alchy and Vaughn, Kyren comments, "Ok my friends, we are just about ready to go, we need to make a decision quickly. How do we get out of here? Is there any other way besides through zombie land?"
Kyren first looks around to see how safe the area is.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Are there some quick and easy ways to get the girls out of this pyramid?
If he sees a way to lead them out, he greets the young ladies with the grace and charm of a circus ring master.
"My dear, dear, children, I am Kyren Tosscobble, harpist extraordinaire at your service!" He begins with a gracious bow. "I would gladly play a tune or two for you, to show you how music weaves wondrous magic in all of our lives, but unfortunately, this is not exactly the time or place for it. We must take my friends' advice and leave this place at once.
"Will you kindly permit me to introduce you to the Wee Bluets. We are naturally here to help you. You are not safe here and if you kindly follow us, we can retire to a lovely place where we will give you food and drink and we can discuss matters in a much more civilized manner. Now, do you see these big furry cats, that is Alchy and Blaze. They are here to guide us all to safety. Will you please kindly come with me. We must not panic. Let's walk calm and quietly and we will all make it out safely. Now remember, there is no pushing. We will all stick together and when we leave here, we will bring you to a place of great beauty and atmosphere, the Revive for a Better Life. If you are all well behaved, I promise to even teach you how to play Tzarek. It is a gave beyond all games!"
Kyren tries to put the girls at ease with his friendly and easy going manner. Once he feels, he has their trust, he will escort them out of the pyramid.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 1 = 25 (Touch of Destiny at work)
What exactly do you mean the children are safe? Have we rescued them? If the pyramid is beginning to slide, do we need to flee? Can we get them out safely?"
"Kazam!! Kazam!! Double Kazam! That was a hell of a blast, Berry! Toasted Sentry by my reckoning!"
"Crazzleboks! Why doesn't it just say ouch or something so that I know he is taking damage?!"
Kyren waves his hands in quick somatic gestures and casts magic missle at one of the sentries. "Bolts be free!"
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1, 4) + 3 = 11
Don't wait on me, I thought I was last.
Kyren moves his hands in somatic gestures and utters the verbal component, "Dalasta, Malasta!" to cast Scorching Blast at the sentry.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
"Stay Calm, young ladies! We are the Wee Bluets and we are here to rescue you! Just relax and we will have you out of this mess in a jiffy!"
Kyren moves his hands in somatic gestures and casts haste on the members of the party.
"Presta alakazaste, let us all move with haste!"
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 4 = 20
"Illusion?! Crazzleboks! Those deceiving little tricksters. Always trying to hide the truth aren't they?! Well, soon we will put and end to their deception, lies and treachery! Normally, I try not to believe everything I hear, but this reminds me not to believe everything I see, especially here in this pyramid."
Kyren moves along in the middle of the pack, suddenly skeptical of everything around him.
"Ok, Alchy, how are you feeling? We survived that room, but you still look rather sleepy. Do you need some water or a saucer of milk? We need you to be able to join us for the rest of this place and walk on your own four paws. I think we should go up those stairs. Perhaps you can sniff out the girls? Do you think we're getting close to their dormitory? Well at the very least, I think we are getting close to something. Now, everybody stay alert!"
Kyren, who does not want to get in everyone's way, constantly encourages all of his companions on.
"Kazam! That's the way to pull! Thanks, Tal. I did not mean to be so critical. I just know that there is some serious flower power here and a great cat high on cat nip would not work in our favor right now! Kenta, nice work getting that cat to safety. Do you know what exactly has happened to our mighty cat?!"
"Tal, you too! We need your help! Alchy is no small cat and we've got to keep him safe! With kittens you usually grab them by the scruff of the neck, but in this case, I would just grab his big paws and pull. Don't pull his tail, he wouldn't like that, but let's get the cat to safety!"
"Daggers, can you grab Alchy?! He is having some bad reaction to these flowers, and I don't like the idea of us all lingering here. Chop chop, folks! We can't be hanging about here! Let's move onward before we are all under this magic effect!"
"Alchy, this is not the time for a cat nap! Did you have enough kibbles to eat this morning? It is not like you to need to rest so soon!"
Kyren moves his hands in somatic gestures and casts detect magic in an attempt to determine what school of magic is at work against their unleashed cat.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
"Don't be drawn to the nectar, my little honey bees! This cannot be good. Stay on target, my friends. Stay on target. We've got a job to do and smelling the flowers is not it!"
Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
"Ok, Wee Bluets, let's press on. Although I am most impressed with the gardening skills of the cultists, especially in a place such as this, I believe this is not the time to stop and smell the roses. Let's just pass these plants by, ignore the harp music, and see if we can get to the heart of darkness that shrouds this place! Plug your ears if necessary, but let's not linger too long."
Kyren urges the rest forward in the hopes of still finding the young Goddesses that we are trying to rescue.
"My goodness, do you hear a harp! What a marvelous instrument. I feel rather as if I am being welcomed home, wouldn't you say? Unfortunately, everything else about this wretched pyramid tells me that this is a Kyren trap! Why else would they try to enchant me with harp music? Everyone be on alert! This could be a very dangerous situation. Please protect me, my friends. I want to run up and show them how to really play the harp!"
Kyren follows along in the center of the company, always staying alert for the goddesses room.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
However, if it is not clearly obvious, he is going to keep bragging about how great you guys are.
"Kazam! I want to tell you how impressed I am with your skills at avoiding trouble. Normally, I would have had a hell of a time dealing with those pyramid heads. With you folks in the company, I have taken great delight in avoiding trouble that usually finds me quite easily. Let's keep up the good work, boys!"
Vaughn shakes his head, and quaffs his potion of Fly. He then takes off, carrying Kyren with him. "I'll be back for the rest of you, just hang tight."
Kyren does indeed hang on tight, but also expresses his deepest gratitude to Vaughn Eliot.
"Kazam! Kazam! You've got the right idea on this one, Daggers! Did I ever tell you about my adventures hang gliding with the gargoyles in a bright pink hang glider?! It gets rather exciting at times, very much like this!"
"You know, I usually like saving my secret weapon for battles, but I could use one of my haste spells to get us to run by at top speed. Let me know your thoughts. It just takes a little Kazam power to give it the kick we are looking for!"
With a straight face, Vaughn replies to Kyren, "What makes you say that?"
"Let's just call it a wild hunch. Would you consider a platinum piece bet that if you walked up to them, they would attack you? I am willing to back up my claim with the coin." Kyren replies as he pulls out a shiny platinum. "Mind you, once they start attacking, I would naturally begin casting spells to help defend you."
Kyren looks at the sight and responds in his usual understated fashion.
"I don't think these guys are going to be very open to letting us pass."
Kyren then casts detect magic on them to try and figure out if they are magical constructions or simply cultists dressed up for a geometry convention.
"Alakdown, let the magic be shown!"
"Crazzleboks! Who put this strength draining, periodic blinding, crystal pyramid right here?! I wonder if this is the source of all there power. Maybe we can find a way to drain it of all its charge."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Does Kyren know what the purpose of this thing is? Can he think of a way to destroy it or at least render it harmless?
"Crazzleboks! This looks like a giant clock that wakes people up just when they are starting to fall asleep! Do try to turn away just before it hits, this cannot be good for your eyes."
Kyren waves his hands drawing upon his arcane power to look into the magical spectrum by casting detect magic on the sphere of light, trying to determine what kind of magic is at work and what is the purpose of this object other than to blind people.
While pushing forward, Kyren, ever the charmer, turns to his friend Tal and offers his compliments, "You know, my friend, just in case I hadn't made myself clear, you ought to know that your healing magic, that you freely give to each of us in our need, is a real nifty trick. I am most impressed with your faith and what you get in return for such dedication. Do all of your pals in your brotherhood have similar talents?"
"Ok boys, if you think it's safe now, let's head up the stairs and find the chamber of goddesses!"
Kyren follows the others up the stairs, always trying to stay vigilant for anything unexpected and especially harmful.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
" It'll be there on our way out, you know!"
"Maybe so, I'm but I'm not taking any chances. At the very least, I have a little trinket to help us remember this wonderful experience. But without doubt you're right, we cannot lose fact that we are here to helped these wonderful little goddesses. Now let's see where we can find them."
Men and women all wearing cultists' robes lies on the stairs, their bodies mangled, ripped open and dismembered. A scene from a slaughterhouse that extends from the foot of the stairs to the top.
When Kyren arrives at the staircase with the others, he groans. "Crazzleboks! I hope we're not too late. It sure seems that way to these poor sods! This couldn't be the work of Pyramid Head could it?"
"Krazzleboks! Krazzleboks! Krazzleboks! I would say it five times fast if I could, but why oh why oh why do I come running through a treasury when there is no time to stop and clean the place out! Remind me to invest in a time stop spell at my earliest convenience!"
Kyren looks immediately for one piece of treasure that he can grab that would take no time. Perhaps a sack of gold or a lovely trinket.
Appraise: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 1 = 20 (With touch of destiny)
You can use your appraise check to determine the most valuable item visible in a treasure hoard. The DC of this check is generally 20 but can increase to as high as 30 for a particularly large hoard.
After Kyren grabs the most valuable piece of treasure he can easily carry, he scurries after Alcheringa, trying to keep up.
"Wait, wait, Alchy! I'm coming."
"Kazam! Kazam! I didn't think we would ever finish killing that creature. Let's give it a quick search for treasure or keys and be off to rescue the girls."
Kyren casts detect magic and inspects the dead pyramid head for anything of magic or value. What creature is underneath that pyramid helmet?
Engaged in the battle, Kyren scratches his head for a second, wondering what can possibly kill this creature. "Crazzleboks! That pyramid head sure has lots of energy! We've simply got to take it down and quickly!" If the creature is still standing, Kyren will cast magic missile and shoot off more of his unerringly accurate arcane missiles.
"Alakazee, Alakazoo, go ahead bolts, you know what to do!"
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 2) + 3 = 11
"Kazam! Go get'em my little magic charges!"
Are referring to the Scorching Blast that has no effect?
Kyren moves his hands in somatic gestures and releases three magic missiles into the pyramid head with the utterance of the following words, "Alakazee, Bolts be free!"
3 Magic Missiles: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 4) + 3 = 12
Kyren moves his hands in somatic gestures and casts another Scorching Ray at the deadly pyramid head foe. "Abrakazeet, turn up the heat!"
Ray Touch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Does Kyren Scorching Ray have any visible effect?
Kyren moves his hands in somatic gestures and casts another Scorching Ray at the deadly pyramid head foe. "Presto Shazam, Fire in the Pan!"
Ray Touch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Kyren will move his hands in somatic gestures and once again sends off a scorching ray. This time he releases it with a really catchy arcane verbal command that allows the fire to burn at near full blast!
"Abracanaughtfluff, give em the hot stuff!"
Scorching Ray Touch Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Kyren moves his hands in somatic gestures and casts Scorching Ray at triangle head. "Presto Alakabook, let's see this guy cook!"
Ray Touch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
