Mark Moreland wrote: You're not invited to my home game any more. Isn't that against the PFS rules? If I show up with a legal character, don't you have to run a game for me? Even at 3 a.m. when I nudge you awake from your dreams of Wicked coming to Seattle?
Mark Moreland wrote: If this thread devolves into anything less than pure smiles and sunshine, we'll lock this thread as well. Has there ever been a thread made up of pure smiles and sunshine?
My list would be extremely short. I could care less about what class your playing. There are only two things banned at my tables: overly annoying people and Dragnmoon.
Wait, that's only one thing.
Mystic Lemur wrote: God Bless us, every one (except the min-maxing power gamers, right?). Hey! I'm one of those.
I find so of the views in this thread quite amusing.
Telling a player at your house that they can't play a certain PFS legal character of theirs because you find it annoying is not the same as rolling initiative more than once a round or changing any other *actual* rule.
Even at a public event.. heck, let's go big. Even at GENCON, the holiest of holy events, it is not "against the PFS rules" to tell a player you're not willing to GM for them because you don't like their character build or don't like them as a person.
Is it uncool? Absolutely. Would it create a scene and a headache for the musterers? Yep. But it's not against the rules.

And Doug's right, Bob, Jason, Stephen, and I think even one or two of the UK guys were at 4 stars before me. And they all probably have more scenarios under their belt at this point.
Michael Brock wrote: You were what, the 6th or 7th 5 star GM? TWO DAMN YOU! TWO!*
Technically Jason and I were #'s 2 & 3, but Hyrum mentioned me first! ;-)
Yeah, I was going to make a suggestion for 4.1.1, that existing 5-star GM's be qualified to judge a potential candidate.
I would like to be the one who evaluates Brock for his 5th star! Brock, you up for that challenge?
Doug Miles wrote: I think the more interesting question will be how many 5-star GMs will we have after PaizoCon & GenCon this year? And when is Mike Brock going to get his 5th Star? Of the 17 4-star GMs, I wonder how many will attend PaizoCon or Gen Con?
At least we won't lose any until after Gen Con 2013.
Mark Moreland wrote: Kyle Baird wrote: So do I lose my 5th star this Gen Con, or next (assuming I don't meet the qualifications next year)?
Despite my being tempted to take it from you right now just for asking, you'll have a full season under these rules to maintain the star, so the rest of this season is a freebie.
Crispy3ed wrote: Kyle Baird wrote: Better question, how many VC's have characters who died at a table you GM'd? GM'd for three VC's, killed one. 33% kill ratio? That's something to be proud of! ;-)
Let's see (including former VCs)...
BobBob x3, DougDoug x? (lost count), Nani, Garringer. There's a handful of VC survivors too including Pratt and Morgan.
Buck-fifty.
Where's Bob? He's late to this thread.
Drogon wrote: Kyle Baird wrote: Drogon wrote: So, I'll ask the question, then: What are the names of the 5-star GMs and the names of the 4-star GMs? And, how many 3-star GMs are there? (probably too many of those to name). I already listed the 5 stars. Pet names for the people you've killed don't count... - Doug Miles - Detroit
- Care Baird - Detroit
- Jason Roeder - Missouri somewhere :)
- Bob Jonquet - Middle of nowhere Illinois
- Art Lobdell - New York
- Todd Morgan - Middle of nowhere Iowa
- Stephen White - Australia (yes the whole continent)
Better question, how many VC's have characters who died at a table you GM'd?
Dragnmoon wrote: There may be privacy issues with that, unlike a VC becoming a 4 Star does not mean I Need to know who you are.
But if you post on the boards you give yourself away.. ;)
Names, maybe, but the board aliases should be just fine. Everyone can see those.

I win, you lose -- I will accept your tribute in the form of monetary donations ;)... oh... and you now have to bow to me in public Better question, how many of those 94 sessions have run longer than 2 hours? ;-)
Next question, is DougDoug still the leader in sessions run? Who are the top 3?
My guesses:
1. DougDoug
2. BobBob
3. ToddTodd

DougDoug
KyleKyle
JasonJason
BobBob
ArtArt
ToddTodd
StephenStephen (007? Maybe I'll have to trade!)

Hey Mike, can we get cool serial numbers for the order in which we got our 5th star?

Michael Brock wrote: If a scenario goes off the rails and the GM has to use some fiat to get them back on track, I completely understand and I would rather a GM do that instead of just saying no you can't.
As a reward, how about a custom boon that players can apply to one of their existing PCs of the winning faction? Something small like a PF Tales boon, but specific to the winning faction?
edit: A more generic idea would be a boon that would give a +X bonus to that PCs fame score.
Snorter wrote: "What kind of person creates a PC with an imp familiar?" Someone who wants and Imp for a familiar?
It's no different than using summon monster VI to summon a succubus. Using evil creatures to serve your needs does not necessarily make you evil.

I'd say let him play it and have him roll fort saves once in a while to survive heart attacks. Remind him that you rolled in secret and only you know his maximum age. :-)
My favorite character is my "faction monkey" Boracle. I built him specifically to complete everyone's faction missions (and annoy BobBob).
Of course some people here would likely call him a useless character or such since his whip does 1d3-3 damage. I find that aid another, bardic performance, and a few well placed spells more than make up for a lack of damage (assuming at least someone at the table is capable of swinging a sword with competence).
WELCOME TO PFS!

I have played at "The Evil One's" table four times (maybe five?) and died three times (should have been four), all with the same character. I am not afraid of him. He is unable to kill me permanently, I just keep coming back for more. muahahaha To be fair, you CHOSE to die once. And one of the other times you charged a glabrezu. GLABREZU!
I can not be held responsible for your poor choices, Bob.

This. Except maybe take a ranged ranger and use a potion of invis and fly and wait it out. Then shoot whoever is left standing.

Tangaroa wrote: In a different situation, I would have just had them move through the adventure at their accelerated pace and we could have all gone home early. Sometimes if it's an entire table acting (or built) like this, I'll do exactly that. Have the NPCs just roll over and die quickly. No strategy, no role play, no enthusiasm. "Here, you win. Yay.."
Michael VonHasseln wrote: Since we can't change the scenario as written, we just need the advice of some of the veteran GMs on how to optimize the encounters with the tools that are given. Though I've never sat at one of the tables of the esteemed "killer GMs of PFS", I am sure that I could definitely benefit from their advice. I was under the impression this is what the GM's Advice Forum was for. Maybe that is the tool we should be using first. Find me at PaizoCon or Gen Con. :)
