Background

Kurn was born in Urgen to his Elven mother and his Viking father Thorn of Urgen, a well known trader/raider depending upon your point of view!

His mother had been ‘invited’ to stay with Thorn and surprisingly they had fallen in love. Kurn’s mother died giving birth to his younger brother Ari, without Kurn ever being able to find out his mother’s background. His father had forbidden any talk of it.

Kurn has spent his life at sea and has become an accomplished sailor and navigator. He has been Sailing Master on several vessels, serving rich Captains. Kurn’s dream is to own a ship himself one day and he volunteers for dangerous voyages where the pay is better.

Sometime ago Kurn’s father died during a voyage to Qin to pick up Ari. Kurn was helpless as he saw his father taken by the sea during a storm. Kurn was saved from that storm by a servant of Krakis in the form of a giant seal. Since that day, Kurn has devoted his life to Krakis and his realisation of his dream. As a half-Elf and servant of Krakis, he is eagerly sought by Captains to go on voyages, both being deemed as a lucky charm and a trained healer.

Kurn believes that Krakis saved him for a reason, but doesn’t know why.
