I'm waiting to see when the society takes off with games in the Atlanta area.

Kohl

Welcome to the human race, where a person can hate another person for whatever reason comes to mind...and then justify it within their own reasoning.

I agree with the OP, so what if he likes both systems, or even an old system, off the wall system, home brew, etc. I don't and hope he has fun playing the game and not let the rants and ravings on the message boards take up to much of his thought process.

Kohl

I'm a reader as well since my group hasn't played as regularly as before. I buy stuff knowing I won't use it for a while or may never use it, but enjoy just reading the stuff...with that in mind, I prefer the old adventure format over the delve format.

Kohl

What scale are these figurines? 25mm, 28mm, I can't find the description even on Magnificent ego's website either.

Kohl

Wow, hard to believe no one in the Atlanta area participated. As I was reading the posts, my first thought was Dr. No's as well, then that was shot down in a later post. Did Legends in Rome, Ga participate?

Kohl

I guess I can add it to my growing shopping cart stuff and wait for our govt's cash giveaway for no reason and spend their money on stuff I want.

Kohl

I was especially dissiponted in the last release, especially how they didn't adress problems the Monk, Ranger, and Paladin had. I still don't like the skill system (Mainly due to classes still not getting enough points and I'm a fan of SAGA's skill system). But I do gotta admit, I love what they did with races (Except the Half Elf, man did that one get screwed in R. 2) and the Rogue is shows an excellent design I was hoping most others would follow.

I cut and pasted the OP's line from his previous post. I'm asking for him to clarify on the problems he sees with the monk, ranger and paladin classes and skill system...if he feels like taking the time to do so since he's done it somewhere on the boards before and maybe it wasn't seen or heeded.

Thanks for the chance again to listen to your points concerning the above since I missed them the first time.

Now I'm leaning toward what Todd just said, and that's mainly because my ears are to big and I made the mistake of leaning over to far and can't catch my balance once my ears got their momentum going...oops.

Kohl

Any info yet Lisa?

Kohl

back from the dead since I was looking through my gazetter again and noticed the ears on the elf in the race modeling picture.

I'm going with shorter than that in my campaign...vulcan style about sums it it up as well. I've seen enough bouncy ear and hopping, flipping elves when I used to play WOW. I'd rather not have that mental image in my rpg game.

I was thinking it was drawn by an artist who seems to like trying to sneak in japanese manga style art in a US company's fantasy setting.

Wow. Same old, same old.

I was hoping 4e would do something about non-casters being useless. Not too keen on 4e now that I've seen it though.

Looking at Pathfinder, they have a lot of good ideas, but they aren't fixing the basic problem. The nature of magic just plain makes it better, particularly when you allow quickened spell and the like.

Giving a rogue a couple low level spells or giving a fighter +4 to hit and +4 to AC just doesn't make much of a difference.

I played 1e, then took a long break till 3e came out. Maybe 2e was the best version, and I didn't see it.

Like I said, a lot of good ideas, but for just one example the fighter is still as gear dependent as ever. I haven't run one, but I bet a 20th level warrior with 20th level gear would stomp a 20th level fighter without magic gear. Heck give him 10 more feats and the warrior would still win.

I'm sure someone will chime in about encounters per day, anti-magic fields, and golems and whatnot, but I'm done with that. We've seen all the arguments, and seen what you can do in play. That matter has been settled.

Kind of disappointing, particularly as 4e is so... 4e.

Sunbeam, I think this was a Pathfinder high level play test, not a 4E like you are thinking.

I'd like to read some Pathfinder novels as well. Do it like the t-shirts type thing, get something showing the initial interest to see if it's going to make it or not, then realize that not everyone on the Paizo message boards saw the poll and add in the ones who don't come to the boards but would still buy the novels :) I'd like to see how that poll is set up!

Kohl

Agreed, I'd pay extra as well to help make sure the books arrive in great shape.

Kohl

Cosmo,

Can you check on this order as well please. The order status shows them being together but all I received was the pathfinder title. I also have mine to ship everything with the Pathfinder so I should only get 1 package for the month.

Thanks again

Tim Benton

Same - order 931639 - received the pathfinder but no gazetteer and have mine to ship everything once a month as well.

Tim

Any updates on these from Croc?

Paizo really needs to look into a different print shop in China. Between this getting pushed back and also the critical fumble deck delays, I'm sure they are hitting their heads on the desk like us :) If they would publish great stuff people wouldn't clammer for it asap!!!

Our printer in China turned the Gazetteer around in the usual amount of time. It's just that sometimes things don't make it from the boat (and through customs) to our warehouse as quickly as we'd like.

The Critical Fumble Deck wasn't printed in China—it was printed in the USA, and we don't anticipate using that printer again anytime soon. (The Curse of the Crimson Throne Item Cards are being printed in China, as was Harrow.)

Dang, and here I wanted to blame it on the commies across the sea for the delay :) I'm joking people before someone cries and tells me to be more politcally correct. It's a sad state of affairs when the price, quality, and timeliness of a product (in this case a printed product)can be bought from overseas cheaper (including the shipping and customs fees if any) than a US based printer who can't seem to get it right (ie the fumble deck which the US company fumbled their way out of future business).

Kohl

Fighter for me.

Kohl

Since I have mainly played DnD and now the d20 version on 3 and 3.5, can the true 20 be played in d20 version? If so, I might have to check out this bundle pack. Sounds wickedly interesting.

Kohl

Paizo really needs to look into a different print shop in China. Between this getting pushed back and also the critical fumble deck delays, I'm sure they are hitting their heads on the desk like us :) If they would publish great stuff people wouldn't clammer for it asap!!!

I'm in for the wait but wish it was April and not May like others have stated.

Kohl

When did this book become available and how did it sell out on Paizo so quickly? I see comicnow on ebay supposedly has 990 available on their e-bay auction. Do we wait for Paizo or go ahead and get one from them?

Kohl

Just saw on e-bay that Comicsnow.com has 990 listed as available to purchase on their auction for this hardback. No idea if they really have that many, but if they do, Paizo might want to pick some up from them to fill customer orders :)

Kohl

I'm in the "I really enjoy Wayne's art" camp. Hope he sticks around on the Pathfinder stuff for a while as well.

Kohl

I feel the same as well, nice seeing time and effort being put into the history of the Pathfinder realm.

Kohl

Thanks for the reply Vic. Glad to hear Shackled City did well and I'm on the hunt for Pathfinder 2 as well :)

Kohl

I was hoping for the age of worms and savage tide adventure paths to make it to hard cover editions like the shackled city one. Did WoTC make that decision or was it paizo that decided not to make those hardcovers? Did the Shackled city one not sell well?

Kohl

Joshua,

On the same subject, wouldn't the fighters/melee class also be more apt to fumble since they are attacking more often with a melee weapon than a caster anyway? If a mage jumps in and swings a sword every round up to 6th level, they'd be just as prone to a fumble as a fighter. After that, with the multiple attack a fighter gets, they would be more apt to fumble but like before, they are swinging a sword or shooting their weapon more often than the casters anyway.

To me it's a moot point and it's a just built into their class (melee)they might fumble more often than a caster class.

Kohl

Glad to hear the decks are almost ready to go and I'm postin gto see my pathfinder subscriber title :) I'm also waiting for my first book to ship to start racking up the 15% discount on most everything elso Paizo offers.

Kohl

Well, what is Paizo leaning toward? d20 3.5 version or 4 in the future? Have they said without reading 32 pages worth?

Kohl

1st level characters vs a large black dragon - seems a little over the top even if they did have to retreat with only 1 death. I would have expected the dragon to be using their bones to pick his teeth with.
blah - staying with 3.5 for now after reading the 2 hands on reviews.

The problem with the wait and see is that Paizo will lose out on getting to the market first with whatever WotC let's them bring. Plus as we've seen with their printing lead time - they'd need to start shifting toward 4E now to be able to hit the shelves as soon as WotC says they can. It also divided what resources they have to each gaming edition. It's a tough call for Paizo since they are the only company worth purchasing from for 3.5 stuff now (imo).

Either way, I'm sticking with 3.5 for a while but might head to B&N to flip through the books when they come out.

Will these hold 25mm miniatures securely? I have 3 of the Chessex ones and was looking at something to combine them into and something to better carry them around in.

Kohl

I guess I'll do like I did with 3.0 and take a wait and see approach. Having played each version as it came out(basic, advanced, 2nd editiion, etc), I don't like what I've heard about so far with the 4.0 game and will stay 3.5 for the mean time. The group I play with played the 2nd edition until almost 2003 and made the switch then so I'll probably buy the core books like others have said to see what they've done but will still play 3.5 for a while.
