To clarify, can his illusions hold against any magical investigation Ryo might attempt?

So, I could use some advice on the whole dragon scale-potential mob subplot. Is there a particular time that would be best? And to those who would know, how should Agarthians react? I imagine the locals might be used to weird stuff from the school, after all.

I'm no 4E fan, but I don't think you can blame the edition. This stuff is the fault of a bad GM, not a bad designer.

I dunno if I can really call it a 'genius' laugh. This plan en't that diabolical.

(Although I was getting the impression that Fear might be on the other side in which case he'd be about as unconcerned with things like balance as Madness is.)

That's great. Here I was, not sure if that was an option. But Fear isn't the type to ally with the others. He doesn't trust any of them and believes them all to be enemies. I don't see him working with Madness--Madness is the most dangerous of them all--so I think it likely he's working against everybody. He's determined to take power, so as to avoid destruction.

That being said, he still shouldn't be interfering all direct-like, so I'll be more careful there.

Now to decide between two potential evil schemes for him...
...and thanks to this medium, I decided while I reviewed this post for typos. I'm laughing all deranged right now, really freaking out the neighbors.

Well, now that I've done my homework, I feel a bit bad about having Fear affect reality. It was only a bit of nervousness, but it's still the largest direct intervention any patron has made so far. I'll be a bit more careful.

With that in mind, can an Champion conceal things from their patron?

I'm really glad there's somebody else in the city. Makes me feel a tiny bit less like I'm talking to myself.

Grats are in order to Lynora, of course. I'm just in awe. This is a big change, and I can't imagine how much trouble the boardgoblins went through to set it up.

Went through an edit frenzy trying to preserve a bit of bad text. Eventually, I decided to go with the old cliche: Show, don't tell. So I showed maybe the meanest bit of dialogue Vakkler's ever intentionally uttered.

Thanks, I now have to figure out a basic stat layout so everyone has a reference point. Oh yeah anyone have suggestion for the character?

Barbarian fits well. Perhaps base his race off an ogre or hill giant? It sounds like he's very strong, even stronger than an orc.

Idea is to have him walk around looking lost until someone feels nice enough to help him.

What can I say? Vakkler's a nice guy.

It helped distract me from something in RL for a bit. A story can do that for me, and I didn't bring any books with me where I am now.

Yeah, I'm gonna say they're virtually invisible until they actually take up the mantle. Otherwise the Champion of Madness would just go around killing all the potential champions until there weren't any candidates left.

I can't really keep track of all the patrons too well. When I saw you mention Madness, I was at first a bit concerned. After all, the derro character might fit that domain best.
But then I realized it fits Fear's and the derro's characters very well. So, crisis averted. You can all relax now.

Another location is a more abstract one: Mr. Sinh's hidden passageways. Also, the slurk dens, the sewers and the city have been mentioned, but they're more of a background area.

My characters:

Vakkler, the kobold gamekeeper. Teaches Military History of Agartha, and takes care of the slurks. He has a slight tendency towards being a tiny bit harsh with the students very rarely. He and the Head Healer have a small feud.

The provider of the slimes which patrol the school sewers, a derro and a friend of Vakkler's. He hasn't been introduced yet, but I'm hoping to bring him in soon.

Fear, a little mouse with a fondness for scheming. The most visible of the Patrons, but probably the least trustworthy.

Welcome to the group! We'll have you chained in a basement until you submit to the madness. We'll bring food occasionally. :)

Working by myself makes me more than the usual amount insane. :)

But, logically, that'd result in even more content for roleplaying! ;D

My plan is for Fear to be very involved in mortal areas, and quite a common sight around Avalon (though his nature is unknown). He will, however, be very untrust-ing-and-worthy.

He doesn't trust anybody, and thus almost never tells the truth. When he does, he adds extra lies or implications 'just in case'. He trusts his Champion least of all.

As soon as I find a better avatar than the scary rat from Foxglove Manor, Fear will make his appearance.
