Sounds interesting. The rilmani never really did anything for me.

The whole day. I was going to start a thread looking for info when I spotted this one :)

Haven't heard anything yet, nothing on the Livejournal page either, and CM is also down. Those servers must be out of scooby snacks again :(

Okay, so it's not just me.

Anyone else having trouble getting to EN World today and late yesterday?

At this point, none of the deities use the deity/divine rank rules from the SRD, and they're unlikely to in the future; we'll probalby come up with something different (or simply treat their stat blocks as tough monsters, similar to how the Demonomicon articles in Dragon treated the demon lords).

Interesting... the Demonomicon articles are some of my favorites from DRAGON. Still, I'm importing a few of the Pathfinder deities into my own campaign world, which means they'll get the deity/divine rank treatment... at some point.

Thanks for the information.

James Jacobs wrote:

There's essentially three categories of god on Golarion.

Deity: A deity doesn't have a stat block because they can't be killed by mortals and things that need stat blocks to do stuff. Deities grant their worshipers 5 domain choices.

Demigod: This is a less powerful god; it has a stat block (generally from about CR 26 to 36 or thereabouts), and can be killed by mortals. Demigods generally offer 5 domain choices.

Planar Ruler: This category includes demon lords, the horsemen of the apocalypse, arch devils, elemental lords, empyrial lords, and the like. These creatures are generally as powerful as demigods (CR 26–36), but only grant their worshipers 4 domain choices.

EDIT: There's actaully a 4th category. The Great Old Ones/Outer Gods like Yog-Sothoth and Azathoth do exist in Golarion, but they don't generally care about their worshipers. Those who worship them follow the Old Cults and they get access to the domains of Chaos, Destruction, Madness, Rune, and Void, IIRC; their domain choices don't change depending on which specific creature they worship since clerics of the Old Cults have more in common with clerics who don't worship deities than those who do. BUT! This category's a weird one and sort of exists outside of the Deity/Demigod/Planar Ruler triad, so it usually goes uncommented upon.

So, only the Demigods will use the deity/divine rank rules from the SRD? Or will the Demigods be statted using the Epic rules?

Question!

Which of the Pathfinder deities are considered greater deities and which ones are considered intermediate deities, lesser deities, or demigods?

I'd like to find out the Divine Ranks of all the Pathfinder deities, as well.

I just bought a copy of this book and I must say I've not been disappointed. It is a great read and I only have the Bestiary section left to read.

Well done!

Knightfall

p.s. I'm already thinking about how to incorporate this book into my own cosmology.

What, praytell, would you most like to see?

Tome of Horrors, Pathfinder Edition

I'd like to see two versions of a revised City of Brass. The first version only revises the game statistics as presented in the original boxed set, which will allow those that already have the 3.5 version to use it for Pathfinder without too much difficulty.

The second version would be a full Pathfinder Edition that uses the production value of Paizo's product line including full color artwork and glossy paper. It would be the "cat's meow" version. This version would be retrofitted to fit into The Great Beyond (expanded details, new NPCs, additional races, etc.)

As for other things from Necromancer Games, I can't think of anything else right now but I would seriously consider anything the make for Pathfinder.

I really want to get my hands on a copy of this product. It never showed up in my FLGS. For some reason, Green Ronin products haven't done very well here in Edmonton, except for Mutants & Masterminds.

Ragwaine wrote:
I happen to own the old Conan boxed set but have never played it.

I have that boxed set too. However, mine doesn't have the maps. That's what I get for buying stuff second-hand.

memorax wrote:
If they do do either something similiar to either Dragon or Dungeon it will probalby be only availiable in PDF format.

That would be to bad because not everyone is into buying PDF books/magazines.

I think that once the final version of the Pathfinder RPG gets released that there will be more than enough support for a Pathfinder Magazine. I know I'd be interested in such a magazine.

I'd also want it to be generic enough to use without having to know Golarion inside and out. The Pathfinder Chronicles is an interesting campaign setting, but I'm more interested in using the Pathfinder RPG as the basis for a new homebrewed campaign world of my own.

Another must buy!

Excellent

An Epic book and a Psionics book.

I got my copy of this book yesterday. Excellent, excellent, excellent!

Awesome. I've already read the firt four chapters of the Beta and I must say I'm even moreimpressed than with the Beta. The Skills and Feats sections are next on my reading list.

I voted the first moment it became available to do so.

I'm not sure if this post belongs here, but I don't know where else to put it, as the PfRPG doesn't seem to talk about monsters.

Anyhow, one thing I've always wanted to change about the monsters in 3.x was the necessity for high-HD monsters to have a full set of feats as well as numerous special abilities. I always felt that it would be sensible to trade off some of those (PC-oriented) feats for the (monster-oriented) special abilities, and thus trim the stat block down a little.

Hmmm, great minds think alike. I believe Sean mentioned this idea just this past week. :)

I don't mind this idea at all as long as you can do it either way. Adding new options are good as long as they don't take away from the standard options.

I would love a Paizo/Pathfinder version of Tome of Horrors. I would also love a Pathfinder version of the MM. Most of all I would love a Pathfinder big fat 100% trove of new monsters bestiary.

I'm pretty sure we can expect to see a Pathfinder version of Tome of Horrors but it won't likely come out until next year when the final release of the PFRPG comes out. I doubt we'll see a Pathfinder version of the MM as the "Revisited" series will redo those creatures. However, I could see a monster book with some classic OGL creatures and some new ones. After all, not every OGL monster can make it into a "Revisited" book. (That would be way too many books, IMO.)

Savage_ScreenMonkey wrote:

I’m a little conflicted on how I feel about the current Pathfinder monsters being compiled into a single source book. On the one hand I love the new monsters, but I already own every issue of the PF AP's and Modules. But on the other hand having them compiled into a single book would be very convenient. Perhaps if a master list was made in a future publication would be a good compromise.

I'm not conflicted about the idea at all. The gurus at Paizo have likely thought of it already, and there seems to be a demand for a compiled Pathfinder AP monster book. It becomes a question of when (or if) they decide to do it. It would be very convenient to have the monsters compiled into one source.

They could also do a format similar to the map folios where each monster is on its own glossy page, which could be stored in a stylized Pathfinder binder (sold separately). You'd add each "Monster Folio" to the binder.

Of course, you wouldn't have to buy the binder (a regular one would work just as well) but it would come with an extra cool features such as combat tables, and blank index cards for monsters, traps, magical items, and the like as well as a Pathfinder GM's Screen.

Just a thought,

KF72

Okay, so I know that each book of the Pathfinder Adventure Path has a monster section, but I'm hoping that at some point these monsters along with some new monsters are compiled into a Pathfinder Bestiary hardcover.

Yes, I liked the "Revisited" book (looking forward to the dragons book), but I'm hoping that Paizo goes a bit further and "Pathfinders" more classic OGL creatures into one core book.

The subject says it all. How about Paizo making free downloads of all iconic characters from low to high level with Pathfinder Beta rules included. Might give playtesting more of a push. Might just be cool to see them re-imagined.

This is an excellent idea; however, I'd pay for an Pathfinder Iconics sourcebook if it was detailed with background information for the charcters and showed the characters progressions from low to mid to high-level.

BETA! BETA! BETA!

C'mon, Beta!

It seems to be offline again.

Any chance that the solar system might get its own book in the future?

Yes, I know you're referring to the d20 Freeport Companion but that book is sold out and they don't plan to reprint it as it stands now. (I asked.)

Now, perhaps they'll reprint it without the d20 logo, but thay haven't said one way or the other. I was just making a suggestion that if they do reprint it in a different form, then it might be a good idea to connect the reprinted version with Pathfinder.

Anyway, just an idea.

EN World is now working but it is REALLY slow.

FYI... one of the routers blew up.

Well part of the issue is the one sided mods. Bashing 3e is fine, you just can't defend it or yourself without the mods stepping in on you.

I loath 4e but find it fine for others to enjoy it.B ut over there it has got to the point that You can not say anything bad at all of 4e without the threads being locked when ya counter the 4e crowd. Lets hope this to in time passes.

Well, I'm not the sort to bash a game system. I don't like 4e at all, but I'm not going to shout it from the mountaintop. I don't poke my head into the 4e forums on EN World because I'm just not interested in 4e.

EN World will likely always have a place for 3e and older editions but, right now, the forum seems to cater to the 4e crowd. It's understandable since 4e is the "big, new dog," but it can be a little annoying.

Darrin Drader wrote:
A lot of people have abandoned ENWorld. I recently came back after not posting there for a couple years. I'm thinking about mostly leaving again. It seems that anyone who says anything other than wonderful things about 4E is going to be attacked by somebody and the mods aren't doing much to stop it. I am somewhat encouraged by the fact that Eric Noah and some of the other pillars of the community openly support 3.5.

I've noticed this as well, which kind of annoys me. I keep hoping that the "edition war" thing is a temporary problem because 4th edition is so new. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

And I can honestly say I support 3.5 and the OGL. I even have my own forums dedicated to 3rd edition and OGL gaming.

Is it me, or, speed issues aside, is ENWorld 2.0 *less* usable than the old page? I hate the "WOTC-style" categorization of updates.

I only started to notice severe problems, regarding EN World 2 usablity, after the Wiki was added. When that went online, the performance dropped significantly for me.

What I want is a "Pathfinder Freeport Companion" sourcebook to come out next year when the main RPG book comes out. (Of course, I'd like it sooner but that's not really feasible.)

That would be sweet!

It's most likely related to ENWOrld 2.0, which uses a much more advanced version of VBulletin than they were originally using. My guess is that the server's hard drive finally rebelled.

Yeah, MM's been pushing the server really hard trying to fix it. ;-)

Yeah, the reason it's been slow is a MySQL issue. Micheal Morris has been trying to fix it but hasn't had much luck. He even asked for help from other EN World members.

Regardless, it appears that it's completely offline right now. Oh well.

BTW, Circvs Maximvs doesn't seem to be working either.

David Jarvis 54 wrote:

Actually longer, but it's been really bad this morning.

Do you get the "this page cannot be displayed" error message or is it intermitant?

July 19/09: It seems to be offline once again!

I'm definitely a OotS fan.

D&D
1. Greyhawk
2. Planescape
3. Dark Sun

And I must add that I really liked the pre-3rd edition of the Forgotten Realms. The third edition version of the Realms felt too "uber" to me. I'm not sure what to make of the fourth edition version.

Other
1. Dragonstar
2. Earthdawn
3. Star*Drive (Alternity)

While my forum isn't dedicated to being anti-4e, it is dedicated to being pro-3e. I'm a big fan of 3rd Edition and the OGL. Mainly, my forum is dedicated to my own campaign concepts, but it does have a 3rd Edition Forum, which is really a general forum.

Knightfall's Gaming & Writing Forum
http://walktheroad.s1.bizhat.com/

Note that not only do I have sections for D&D v.3.5 and OGL 3.5 but also I have sections for Dragonstar, Pathfinder, d20 Modern, and Mutants & Masterminds. Also, note that I spend a lot of time on EN World, so I don't usually update my forum as often as I'd like. (If I had more members, then I probably would.)

New accounts must be activated by me, so you'll have to wait until I get the e-mail notice in my inbox regarding account activation. Since I read my e-mail almost every day, you won't have to wait long.

So, if you feel like discussing 3rd Edition or OGL games on a pro-3e forum, then I invite you to "Walk the Road." Just be careful to watch out for the dweller at the Crossroads.

Cheers!

I must also chime in with my support for a Pathfinder version of the Tome of Horrors.

August needs to hurry up and get here!!!

You've got it. The section on Osirion in the Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting will be four pages long. While the Pathfinder Companion will have a small amount of information overlap with that, we'll nonetheless be able to provide a lot more flavor and crunch since it runs to 32 pages.

Okay, this one I definitely want.

Id looooove to see some races books or even one big one! Someone earlier mentioned a 'Planetouched of Pathfinder', I cant think of anything I would want more, especially if it covered Tieflings and Cansin (I know, just a Dragon magazine race but one of my favorites).

Now, you see, personally I'd prefer that the "planetouched" be done in the style of Classic Monsters Revisted, but I'd be fine with such a book have sidebars for the racial traits of the more playable "planetouched." Whatever works I guess.

Remember that Paizo can only use material that is OGL; therefore, they would not be able to use these Cansin from DRAGON Magazine.

would it possible to have an entire "Races of Pathfinder" supplement which would include more 'fluff' about the races *and* dozens of new Racial Feats for each of them? Not to mention new magic items and spells. I know several DMs (myself included, naturally) who would more than willingly dish out the cash to get their hands on such a book.

Any chance for such a book as a supplement to PF RPG? :)

There's absolutely a chance for a product like this! In fact, the 2nd Pathfinder Companion is all about Elves! We don't have a big book of ALL races on the schedule yet, though.

Personally, I'd like a "Races of Pathfinder" book as long as it doesn't try to pack too much information into it. My suggestion, stick to the core races for such a book. I don't think I'd want to buy a separate book for each race. And provide options for each race that can be used in any setting. Try to make it generic enough to be useful over a wider audience; do for the classic races what you did for the classic monsters with the "Revisited" book.

Just my opinion,

Knightfall1972
