Yes. Perhaps if all members of the Pathfinder Society had undergone the same grueling training to become a member of the Imperial Army of Taldor as me, they would not have died so easily. Oh... and bought themselves a tower shield of course. <ooc> I had a great time playing Klovanos, the last honest soldier in the Taldan army. I especially enjoyed getting the chance to fight and kill a rather powerful opponent in the Silken Caravan all by myself. Thank the gods for the tower shield! Oh and I loved how every time I made a sacrifice to whichever god (good or evil) was most applicable, my character followed this with an awesome crit or other successful roll. Almost enough to make a man superstitious. -Glen Shackleton
With respect, your leaders are precisely the reason why rule by the people is necessary. Under the leadership of those 'chosen by the gods', you lost most of your empire while you fiddled about with your cuffs. Even if we fail, we have taken destiny into our own hands. Join us, freedom can always welcome more brothers in arms to fight the corrupt who stand on the backs of the people. Give me a warm bed, a good meal, and safety in the streets over your "freedom" any day of the week. As one who served in the Imperial army I can say that I have seen what can happen when people challenge their betters. Far better to have an empire with all its faults than to descend into chaos and demon worship like your Chelaxian neighbours! Though I may not be entirely comfortable with the "fashionable talk" at the Taldan Garden Party, I do know where my loyalties lie!
<shrugs>We are just coming out of a rough patch. Now that the leading houses have finally come to an agreement on the proper length for cuffs, we are ready to reassume our place as the rightful leaders of the realm. It is true that corruption and abuses of power were seen from time to time, but have you people no sense of loyalty? I for one believe we are far better to follow those whom the gods have chosen for rule, than to descend into chaos and anarchy. What this land needs is a return to the peace of empire! The gods may have punished the Taldan people for our mistakes, but it is only a matter of time before the empire rises to its former glory.
This may not be garden party chit chat, but there are still some of us who believe our mighty empire can rise again! It will not be on the backs of the fops and nobles, but by returning to the old ways. Support the training of a mighty army and pay our respects to all the gods and we can once again bring the imperial peace to all peoples of this land! (Klovanos looks around awkwardly) |
