Silver Crusade

I am back and I bring both good news and bad news. The bad news is the newest Windows 10 build kept installing itself repeatedly on my PC and eventually killed it. The good news is that my ~$250 warranty at Best Buy covered me a new one. More bad news: that means all my creations are gone. More good news: I am almost done reconstructing the monsters and am still interested in GMing! No mere computer problems will keep me from finishing this game if I have a say in it.

Are people okay with waiting a day or two for me to finish up reconstructing things on my new PC? I am not going to quit as GM, but I would definitely like to get things back in order with my creations for this game.

Silver Crusade

This is quite an intriguing exchange. I originally just meant this to be the first real sapient foe PCs fought, but PC response has led me to flesh out the character more. I love this game so far!

Silver Crusade

"The risks of melding our consciousness with another being are many. The effects range from beneficial, such as psionic awakening, to benign, such as personality bleed, to malign, such as insanity. There is also the possibility of total neural death from synaptic burnout, which would be distinctly unpleasant for the host. This one has seen the range of those effects from sample tests the master conducted when attempting to place us in a more appealing form. We will say that the screams were most disconcerting from those affected negatively."

Gryphoenix:
"Then friends we are, Gryphoenix.

A volcano is a deformation of the earth from techtonic plate movement, filled with molten rock. It is very hot, we imagine.

The master instructed this one to fuse our core with this flesh you see us suspended in, so we believe it is likely that we could fuse with more flesh than just this. We could likely mold with another being so as to have more mobility.

A conjured being is a being called from another plane of existence to serve a being on another plane.

A soul? This one is at a loss to explain it. From what we gather, even the mortal races cannot truly decide on what constitutes a soul. All that we can really say for sure on is that the soul is something vital for a being's body to survive and, if it is ever lost, the being dies immediately. The Master once spoke of souls reforming in other planes as powerful planar beings, something else we find intriguing.

This one is cut off from the other rooms because the realities are bleeding into each other and shifting. While the Master yet lived, he switched rooms in a much different way, with a slow, gradual transfer rather than erratic, abrupt transfers. We are unsure of the full cause of this, but it must be stopped.

As to your question, this one is at a loss. While we would think it would be preferable for us to be released before the rest of you proceed further, your comrades seem to think it prudent to wait. We leave the decisions in the hands of all of you."

War Shade:
"An intriguing reply. This one's observation of other experiments with memories of the past led me to conclude that a gestalt being with said memories would latch on to them as the basis for their identity. Not so with you. You recognize your memories both are and are not your own and resolve to make your own way. This one thanks you for your response."

Silver Crusade

Wrath of the Righteous. You literally just slaughter demons and their servants. Sure, you can use shadier tactics if you want and you can redeem a few NPCs, but the majority of the game plays out like Diablo: scythe through hordes of demons until you kill the big bad. There's a lot of roleplay opportunities as well, but the basic good vs evil dynamic is at the forefront of the game.

Silver Crusade

Gryphoenix:
"This one's core does not burn. Our core was forged in the heart of a volcano from psionic crystals. You could likely carry it once it is free from the flesh. We believe we may be able to meld it with another flesh such as your own, but we are unsure.

The Master expired thirty seven minutes, twenty nine seconds ago. He was slain by a conjured being who drained his soul and left his body an empty husk that she has since turned into her slave.

Rabbits, trees, and the sky are... complicated things. Complicated and intriguing.

This one would compared teleportation to moving really far without moving. There are complex arcane algorithms and planar variables to consider, but it is basically just really fast movement that can take someone conceivably anywhere.

You are welcome, one known as Gryphoenix. This one would call ourselves your friend, if you so wish it.

We call ourselves we and us because this one is currently fused to the other components in this room. This one is part of the whole for now, one and many.

This one can speak to you telepathically, mind-talk, because we were created from psionic crystal. That is a crystal, a sort of transparent stone, that houses the same energy that allows beings such as yourself to think and reason. This one is formed entirely of the crystal and has no real concerns like fleshy beings do, freeing up our mind to do more constructive things. We believe that you may have the potential for telepathic speech, given your mind is quite malleable. We may be wrong, but that is our basic synopsis."

Delta's telepathic response is not instantaneous this time, unlike the past several telepathic broadcasts, "There is an... issue with telling you about the rooms. This one is currently cut off from each room and each changes according to the Master's whims from among the hundreds of pocket dimensions that he controls. It is complicated, but the dimensions have been fluctuating erratically and prevent us from transposing without considerable risk to our core.

We could theoretically stabilize them with enough psionic energy, but we would need to house part of our consciousness within one of you to do so. That carries considerable risk and should not be done lightly.

As for telling you of the other experiments, this one would be happy to inform you about them, should you so choose."

Warshade:
The telepathic voice of Delta speaks to you, quieter than before, "This one regrets that the Master was not kinder in his experimentations upon your former self. We remember the Master picking through your memories and judging it wise to keep them. Do they not cause you pain? We are curious: what would you do when you escape this place? Would you seek out the one known as Ariella? Would you seek vengeance on those who made you what you are? We have never encountered another gestalt being, particularly one with pre-existing memories. Our own memories began with our birth in the Master's laboratories."

Silver Crusade

Excellent. Expect my complete submission in 1-2 days. I just need to finish the background and transfer the statblock from Mythweavers to here and Mariella Applecask will be finished.

As for what Mariella will do with poisons, she will use them to both augment her lethality against monsters when no healing is required via her blowgun and to find nonlethal ways to subdue mind-controlled/possessed individuals, enemies who need to be interrogated or who there is no point in killing, and similar targets. With her Poison Use she gets from the Deep Jungle alternate racial trait, she becomes much more viable than just as a healbot, particularly when paired with her high Profession: Herbalism that is used by the archetype in place of Craft: Alchemy, which makes poisons a much less costly endeavor.

Silver Crusade

Mariella Applecask is near completion as far as her general statblock. I do have a few questions before I finalize that and work on her background.

1. I plan on utilizing poisons with her, as she is an herbalist by trade. Will there be any alignment conflicts if I utilize poisons? I would assume not, as that is primarily a paladin stipulation, but I wanted to check.

2. With Cleric/Oracle spells written before Oracle was released that use Wisdom to determine effects, would I be wrong in assuming that they use Charisma when cast by Oracles?

3. How much do you rule an egg as costing? It's a random question, but one that has a purpose.

4. How do you view the Healer's Way ability, found here as working at 1st level? I am fine with it not functioning until 2nd level, but a friend of mine said he believes that it was "fixed" to have a minimum cap, allowing it to function at first level.

5. Seeing as how Mariella is going to have an insanely high Profession: Herbalist, will I be able to gather plant-based toxins in-game to save quite a bit of gold on poisons? From what I have read in the setting, the area around Castorhage sounds rife with toxic plantlife.

6. Should I note the passive, officially-unlisted ability from the Divine Herbalist listed above Master Herbalist, the ability to use Profession: Herbalist in place of Craft: Alchemy, as an actual ability? If so, what should I call it?

7. And lastly, just double-checking, we get an extra 2 points for Background Skills, correct?

Silver Crusade

Work is taking place on Mariella Applecask, a NG Halfling Oracle of Life with the Divine Herbalist archetype focused on heals and buffs. I have the PHB for The Blight and will be working on her background after I finish work on her statline. When is the cut-off date for submissions?

Silver Crusade

It appears there is a distinct shortage of healers in the completed submissions. Well, time to be a masochist and apply with a Blossoming Light Cleric! *cues in dank healer memes*

Edit: Quick question: are the core deities the only ones available or are lesser deities such as Naderi (not what I want) or Empyreal Lords options?

Silver Crusade

I find this to be an interesting concept. Consider this a dot.

Silver Crusade

Sent messages. Just making sure everyone is game after that week of the website going in and out of maintenance and overall being whacky.

Silver Crusade

Indeed. The site has been highly unstable for the past week weeks, particularly the last few days, but I have faith people are just taking a short break.

Silver Crusade

Dotticus Rex!

Silver Crusade

Are we talking voice chat or text chat? That changes my interest immensely. I have the worst sort of Southern drawl despite being well-educated, so I find voice chat to be unsavory. I am very much interested in an Iron Kingdoms game, so if it is text chat expect something soon.

Silver Crusade

"Not quite, Elgorbb. First, this one would not be truly dead unless our core were destroyed. It would only be necessary to destroy our flesh to open the tower's portal. And second, think of our 'death' like the clenched muscle of a corpse with rigor mortis. Our hold over the portal would stay rigid for around three days before the portal finally opened, so you would have plenty of time to slay the crazed experiments before escaping with us."

Gryphoenix:
Delta answers your questions as fast as you think them, only making since after you take a moment to pause in your own thoughts, "This one's core is located within our flesh here in the middle of the room behind the barrier. It looks like a fist-sized azure gem etched in glowing symbols. This one can do more than mind-talk, yes, but not of our own free will. The master apparently had an incident with our predecessor locking up the entire tower for weeks as a joke. We do not know what the surface is like, but we have seen glimpses of it from the portal. Trees, a blue ceiling called a sky, and some creatures called rabbits were all we saw, but it was... beautiful, this one guesses is the word. Where does this one want to go when free? This one does not know, but anywhere must be better than being trapped in these twenty-one rooms for eternity. We honestly have no idea what freedom is like, but from what books this one scanned through as the Master read, freedom sounds appealing. And yes, all of you must go through the rooms to be free. Unlike this one, you are all bound by effects that block teleportation between rooms. An odd design, one admits, but with so many dangerous specimens, one could see a shred of wisdom in it."

Silver Crusade

At Elgorbb's query, the voice buzzes again, "That is certainly one way of looking at it. The Master mainly used us as a doorkeeper, but we are more than capable of handling most threats. To your second point, there is no real point in walking all the way back here. This one can transpose our form onto any room in the facility. This ones programming prevents hostility against any being unless first attacked, however, so we would be of little use beyond this room. Regarding what awaits beyond this room, this one can only say with confidence that the other experiments and the Masters rooms wait beyond. If needed, this one can provide small rundowns on the experiments. The rooms themselves should pose no immediate danger on their own."

Gryphoenix:
The voice buzzes in your head, quieter than normal, "As this one thought, you are far more than the Master intended. Such a curious mind. This one shall help you learn. A portal is a magic hole that leads to other places. The surface is the world of Exortia, mightiest world on the Prime Material Plane. The core we spoke of is this one's... mind, we suppose is the best way to say it, that contains everything we are. This one does not want to be attacked, but we see no other alternative if the experiments we watched grow from birth are to be free. The death of the bioconstruct form we are nestled in also offers us freedom as well, for our core can be carried anywhere. For our defenses, there is a way around it. We are forbidden of speaking directly of it, but this one can give you a hint: if hostilities commence, look towards the source of the light, for the light is what provides our power."

Silver Crusade

I have been a fanboy for the Soulsborne series since Demon's Souls and Bloodborne was my favorite game out of the entire series. I've watched countless lore videos, melted my brain with countless memes that feature Doll or Micolash, and have officially declared Lady Maria as S-tier waifu material. I may also have a theory on a possible Bloodborne-Dark Souls link with the Waters of the Deep, but I won't go into that here. So no need to walk me through the lore! I do like the lore breakdown you provided though. It seems like it would be great for those new to the lore.

The Choir hunter is exactly what I wanted to play. Old-school occult society vibe wrapped in pure white with some alien gods thrown in the mix is always a good time. I also did a BB cosplay run as an ascended Choir Lumenwood in the game, so I may be just a tad bit attached to the concept (I don't expect to morph into a Lumenwood in-game but still). Tangent: Kos Parasite is insane in PvP.

As for the roleplay question, I definitely wasn't intending on running a shop or anything. I was just curious as to whether we would get to explore more of the lore, interact with NPCs a bit more than the base game, and things like that.

Unrelated to this game are two things I would like to mention to you.

First, there is an unofficial Bloodborne-inspired soundtrack known as Night of the Hunt that a lot of us still in the community have enjoyed. It provides some cool ideas that you can poach for the story if you ever hit a snag and the music would make for great ambiance if you wanted to convey a general scene to PCs. YouTube link for Night of the Hunt

Second, I was actually planning on playing through Bloodborne again starting on November 5th. I plan on streaming it and will be exploring all of the different factions for online play. So if you still play and want to group up or do some hardcore PvP, I can send you my PSN ID.

Silver Crusade

Definitely interested!

I would like to ask if my Healing Church hunter can have connections to the Choir? Your document implies they have a connection via Celestial Emmisaries, but I was just wanting to get my ducks in a row.

I have a few other questions related to the flow of the game. What is the roleplay to combat ratio? Will we be adventuring together the entire game or splitting up for extended periods of time? And will this game bleed into the events of the first game or will it end just as the foreign hunter arrives?

Super psyched about this game!

Silver Crusade

The voice pauses for a moment, "This one wishes there was a positive answer Elgorbb and Wispwraith, but there is not. We are content to let you pass unharmed, but while connected to the tower, cannot open the portal to the surface, for the Master's last command was to seal off the Stalactite Tower from the world.

This one believes that you could sever our core from the mass here in the middle of the room, but it will draw the ire of the rest of this one's flesh, which will attempt to slay all of you in self-defense. Worry not, if separated from our flesh, we will live on in the crystalline core and can serve as a guide through the tower.

It is a risky endeavor, this one admits, but if you seek freedom, there is little recourse. The rest of us will not attack until aggression is made towards this one, so make the choice at your leisure."

Silver Crusade

"No need to be ashamed, Gryphoenix. You are nothing less than what you were born as and, it seems, a great deal more."

As Elgorbb voices his question, the voice speaks again, "You speak of the Grizzled Gatorpede, yes? This one apologizes for sending it back your way. This one merely planted the idea in its head to return whence it came. Perhaps better wording was in order. The one before you is not hostile."

As the Wispwraith enters the room, the eyes all fixate on it, "Wispwraith Experiment 29, it is a pleasure for this one to behold your soothing glow once more. Tell this one, has Quizzle been feeding you well? He is a bit... forgetful at times."

Silver Crusade

No problem. The website has been down on and off the last few days anyway, at least yesterday and the day before.

Silver Crusade

Another post is up. Finally picking up some post momentum now that work had settled down. There should be no problems with posts for around 2 months, since that is the cycle of the good shift changes.

Silver Crusade

Elgorbb, your visibility into the previous room is obscured, but the glowing light from the 'core' provides normal visibility in this room. For reference, the room is 200x200 ft. The 'core' is in the middle and the eyes ring the walls every 40 ft. for a total of 20 eyes. The fleshy bits cover every last portion of the room.

All the misfit escapees in the room, the eyes in the room look each of you over. As the War Shade poses its question, a buzzing voice resounds in the head of each monster, "This one is the psimagical construct named by the Master as Bio-Organic Construct Experiment Delta. This one fondly remembers each of you when you were fresh from the Genesis Chamber and is pleased the four of you have managed to stay sane, unlike the other creations. Might you remember this one, War Shade?"

As the Gryphoenix walks in, its fiery body scorches the ground. As the skin melts and warps, it begins mending back almost instantaneously. "Ah, Gryphoenix. You seem sated on the Grizzled gatorpede. This one offers friendly advice: your comrades are not as quick to heal from your fiery form. Perhaps stay a distance away from them so you do not burn them?

The eyes in the room return to Elgorbb, "This one apalogizes to you, Elgorbb. When you entered the room cloaked in illusion, this one had to gauge your intentions. There has already been one planar experiment gone mad who journeyed through this ones domicile. That you all seem to not be hostile to each other is of no small relief."

The eyes scan the room once more, "Nineteen of you have thus far come through this room, but where is the twentieth? Where is the Wispwraith Experiment 29? This one found its glow most soothing."

Silver Crusade

The post is up. Now that the rotating schedule has better hours, I can get more in! Enjoy the weirdness of room 2.

Silver Crusade

Quizzle takes flight with his tiny wings and motions to the open doorway the Gatorpede stepped through, "Errrrr... you first! Quizzle not equipped for all this."

We are in room 1 of 21. There is an encounter in every room, so even though the Gatorpede came from room 2, there will be an encounter there. AD&D logic is best logic!

Elgorbb turns invisible and scouts the next room. Midway through the door, all visibility behind him vanishes and he is alone in a strange 'room'. The entire room seems to be made of some fleshy organic compound like muscle and a single nervelike strand connects the top and bottom of the room, surrounded by some sort of strange, pulsing field of lambent energy. As he steps forward and the room squishes, eyes begin to open up in the room and focus on the blank space he stands in. A burbling exhalation sounds through the room.

Those in room 1 have no knowledge of any of this unless they chose to follow him.

Silver Crusade

Well, this product pretty much sold the Spheres of Power system. I bought it to mine for ideas and, after looking through the book, decided to look into the Spheres of Power system. After reading a lot of reviews and checking out the SRD, I have resolved to go buy the entire library of Spheres of Power PDFs, sans the player's guide to the Wizard's Academy (whatever it is called).

Silver Crusade

I am not sure if I am the only one, but recently there has been an issue with continuously being redirected to the main Paizo page, no matter the links I click. It only seems to happen early in the AM EST, which is a problem because of my recent schedule change.

Is this a problem anyone else has been experiencing or might it be a problem on my end? It has only been a thing the last few days. I know a friend of mine on the boards mentioned that he was having a similar issue.

*Edit* Might I need to flush my browser history? Could it be some issue there?

Silver Crusade

For some reason, the website has been redirecting me to the main page when I logged in or tried to access any links yesterday, so not sure what was up with that. Has anyone else had this problem? It tends to flare up early in the AM, which is when I have been trying to post recently due to my schedule.

Silver Crusade

Quizzles tiny frame breathes a sigh of relief at Elgorbb's words and wipes his forehead of nonexistent sweat, "Whew, Quizzle is glad he is not lunch in snappy-face's belly. Quizzle imagines the trip out would be unpleasant."

Quizzle tilts his head at the War Shade, "Errr... does it decompose? Quizzle has no idea, but Quizzle also imagines it makes bad stink, Quizzle not want to find out."

He looks to the Gryphoenix devouring the Grizzled Gatorpede and looks back at the War Shade, "Well, too late to find out now."

The Wispwraiths question sparked a reaction in Quizzle, sending him into a frenzy of wild gesticulation and hasty exposition, "Quizzle told the master to not continue summoning the demon lord! He say 'Magic circle is about right. What's the worst that could happen?' Well, THIS worst that could happen! Shiny girl appear and kill master... suck glowy ghost thing right from him and make him dead. Then shiny girl lowers force cages and you know what happens." Quizzle startles and begins rubbing his hands together nervously, "Don't take Quizzle wrong way friendses, Quizzle is glad friendses are out! But not all monsters in cages are friendses. Most want to tear apart and eat stuff. The others just want to break and kill stuff. Quizzle not think master think some experiments through."

Silver Crusade

Room one is now cleared! Congratulations!

Everyone who is damaged, that would be you Gryphoenix, be healed by 50% of your maximum HP.

Don't pat yourselves on the back too much though. Room one was just the appetizer. Room two awaits our intrepid 'heroes'.

Silver Crusade

Elgorbb's invisible blade and maw rip into the Gatorpede, causing it to slump. It shakily rises back up, the effort causing a foul ichor to issue from its grievous wounds. Everything hit apart from the last attack you made.

The Gryphoenix's wild, angry swings batter and rend the Gatorpede. A final blow from the fiery beasts talon connects with the Gatorpede's face and, in a flash of sickly blood, leaves the beasts jaw hanging by a few sinews of meat. The Gatorpede lets out a final, gurgling shriek before collapsing to the floor, dead. You have killed the Gatorpede!

A few moments after the Gatorpede's demise, a familiar, adorably hideous face peeks out from around the cells, "Is it dead, friendses? Is the Quizzle safe now?"

Silver Crusade

The Gryphoenix's flurry of attacks tears into the Grizzled Gatorpede. A talon strike tears a gash into the Gatorpede's hideous face and the smell of its scorched flesh wafts throughout the room. Grizzled Gatorpede takes 36 damage! What is the save on your Burn ability, Gryphoenix?

The Wispwraith's dark lightning shocks the Gatorpede, causing its body to twitch wildly as the electricity courses through it. Save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19 A few moments after the lightening connects, the beast's scales and fur begin to drain of color. Grizzled Gatorpede takes 21 damage and 2 points of CON drain.

The Grizzled Gatorpede raises its head and shrieks, its formerly black eyes beginning to glow like orbs of blood lit from behind by flame. Gatorpede activates Rage as the round's free action, gaining +2 STR, +2 CON, +1 Will, and -2 AC. The beast launches another flurry of attacks at the Gryphoenix, letting out a guttural roar as it does so.

Full Attack Rolls: Claw/Claw/Bite: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (2) + 21 = 231d20 + 21 ⇒ (16) + 21 = 371d20 + 21 ⇒ (2) + 21 = 23

Full Attack Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 1) + 7 = 142d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 = 132d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 6) + 10 = 193d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3) = 112d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 = 12

Bleed Damage Next Turn: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Take your actions for next turn everyone!

Silver Crusade

I was waiting on Purplefixer to reply since I offered to grandfather in actions. He replied the other day that he was sticking with his original action of observing. I attempted to post before bed yesterday, but the message got eaten. I haven't had time to post until just now due to having a rather busy day. About to post now though.

If anyone is interested, I could offer my Discord so people can feel free to poke if there is any issue with posts being eaten, rules questions that need answering, et cetera. That way, people have an easy way to reach me and don't have to worry about what may be going on.

I will be absent from the messageboards completely on Monday. Just giving everyone a heads up.

While we are on these sorts of subjects, what would people feel is a fair botting policy in case posts aren't incoming? I was discussing this with Monkeygod the other day and was wondering what all the PCs would agree is a fair waiting period. Thoughts?

Silver Crusade

I agree that the carry weight in survival mode on both games is annoying. I was rather hoping that the new mode would just up the difficulty since I have come to view legendary dragons as pests due to being around level 300.

Silver Crusade

I have a few ideas that I am mulling over, which I will detail below. Feedback on these ideas would certainly be appreciated.

-White human bard whose hymns are as pure as his soul is empty of all but his devotion. He is a true product of Amonkhet, a man whose soul knows only the word of the God Emperor and so dispassionately works to bring about what he envisions as a glorious future. He will likely focus on buffs and damaging sonic spells.

-Green human necromancer who works as an embalmer. He views his work as necessary for the future of Amonkhet, for when the god emperor returns, he will take the souls of the unworthy and return them to Amonkhet to heal the dying earth (that's what he thinks at least). He will likely utilize stereotypical necromancer tactics in combat, focusing on meaty undead pets and blasting magic.

-Red human bloodrager who lives for the thrill of glory and conquest. To him, the Trials are just an exercise in glorious combat. He believes that, if he wins the Trials, he will go and challenge the God Emperor himself for the right to rule Amonkhet. He has no real aspirations towards the throne, but the thrill of slaying a god is high on his list of aspirations. Every part of his build focuses on martial superiority with a two-bladed sword, with his spells serving primarily to buff him or hit targets beyond his reach.

-Blue aven oracle of knowledge who serves as a scribe, scholar, and occasional prophet for Amonkhet. He views all of life as a riddle to be solved and is dedicated to the acquisition of knowledge. The greatest enigma to him is the Hour of Revelation, as his own divinations reveal nothing of the matter. He will have lots of divinations and healing spells.

-Black naga monk (black asp and invested regent archetypes) who is driven by his ambition. He's as devious as they come and all-too willing to throw away the lives of others. He believes that completing the trials will earn him an eternity of power, glory, and riches as the God Emperor's chosen. He will focus on devious tricks in combat, all aimed at being as lethal as possible, and will incorporate mind control through his invested regent archetype.

-White khenra paladin who joins the Trials with the intention to sacrifice his life to fulfill the prophecy and stop the cycle of suffering the trials bring. He cares nothing for the God Emperor or Amonkhet society as a whole, just the people that comprise it. It is his hopes that people like his little sister can avoid living an empty life through the sacrifice he intends to make. He will be designed solely as a tank who puts himself in harm's way that his crop-mates can fulfill the prophecy and end the cycle of suffering in Amonkhet.

-White aven cleric of sun and good whose zeal is simply unmatched in Amonkhet. He wields light and flame as his weapons and believes that the one who wins the Trials will be the God Emperor's scourge. He intends to do just that, that he may cleanse the wicked world in fire and light that a better one may rise from it's ashes. He is dogmatic in the extreme and is an impassioned firebrand whose frequent praises to the God Emperor can often be heard as the dawn light breaks and as the sun dies on the horizon. He will be a pure blaster build with some combat utility. As a cleric of a good deity, he can spontaneously heal, but will likely not focus on it.

Silver Crusade

I replied on your original thread and am still interested! I do have a few questions though. The answers to those questions will likely shape which character concept I go with.

Mana Color: Will there, for fluff purposes if nothing else, be the options to add colors as the characters grow through the trials, similar to how some named individuals in the MTG universe do?

Expectations: Should we expect for the campaign to follow the Amonkhet storyline and, if so, should we expect to possibly play after the Hour of Devastation?

Mana and Behavior: Are PCs expected to conform to the deity of their color's general theme in terms of character traits or can we explore other facets of how mana color and personality intersect, using the MTG pie chart on each color's characteristics?

Downtime: Will there be downtime between Trials or is this a straight megadungeon-style run through a gauntlet of Trials?

Silver Crusade

Should I go ahead and create my character's dossier or should I wait?

Silver Crusade

My character concept is a normal, everyday guy on the vacation of a lifetime with his sweetheart. He recently won the setting equivalent of the lottery/won it big in a casino and is now practically ecstatic with his life and how happy he is. Surely nothing could put a damper on his newfound happiness... right?

Silver Crusade

Paladin promised to marry his childhood friend, moves away in his teens, and marries someone else after growing up and becoming a paladin. He broke his word, so instant-fall. *Internet logic*

Silver Crusade

My answer depends on how hard you want to push the PCs and how many changes to his abilities you are willing to make. A suggestion of mine is to isolate each PC and act as if they are encountering him alone, when in reality they are all battling him in the same room, they are just subsumed into a nightmare hallucination where they believe they are all alone. Give them saves to disbelieve, possibly with a bonus if they call out to each other (Make the other PCs sound really far away though).

There are some heavy implications for this in terms of how combat progresses, such as a PC cleric failing the save not being able to see who to heal. But still, what is scarier than facing such a terrifying foe, seemingly by yourself with no one to aid you and on the monster's own turf? Not much.

Silver Crusade

Thanks for understanding.

I will monitor the thread to see how things are progressing as I am intrigued at the prospect of how a game like this would go. If anyone decides to step up, my offer for innovative encounter redesigns and general advice still stands.

Silver Crusade

While the idea is appealing to me, I would like to see what this guy has in store. I have already ran the AP once and enjoy other peoples take on the campaign, seeing what they can come up with to push it from the solid framework into a full-blown Godzilla-sized chunk of awesome.

I am already running one game and don't want to take up another so soon, as it's both bad form to make commitments so soon and I am working on some submissions for two games that I intend to play in, which leaves me with little time to gear up for a new campaign.

So, for now at least, I will politely decline.

Silver Crusade

This looks entertaining, to say the least. A gestalt Wrath game would probably be epic as epic can be, assuming the pre-existing balance issues of WotR could be corrected. From personal experience with this AP, book one is trying to not get your face stomped in, then you proceed to put on the steel-shod stompers and basically Mr.T demons the other 5 books.

There is a way to fix it and I would be happy to help the GM with some ideas if he is looking for any help with balancing encounters and making accomodations for increased PC power. With Dretches, for instance, the Creature Mob Template does wonders, turning a boring, easy fight fight with a single demon about as strong as a brain-dead Kobold into a brawl with a frothing horde of the things that actually poses a threat.

Question: will we be following Pathfinder rules for things like alignment be in place? If not, I have an interesting idea for a paladin.

I know what the inspiration is from... and I am totally down with playing as a PC! Good to see another Danganronper on the interwebz!

After about ten attempts at correcting the formula so it would display properly, an eaten post, and a retype (And an edit to add in the +2 ATK from charge/pounce), my reply is up!

The light sources are from enchanted torches in this room. Other rooms have drifting orbs of light, glowing mushrooms, and other contrivances.

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

The Grizzled Gatorpede coils up before pouncing at the Gryphoenix, unleashing a flurry of slashes and a savage bite.

Pouncing Full Attack Rolls: Claw/Claw/Bite: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 351d22 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 231d20 + 22 ⇒ (6) + 22 = 28

Damage: Claw/Claw/Bite/Acid/Rend: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 102d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 132d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 6) + 9 = 193d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2) = 92d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 5) + 9 = 18 69 damage, 9 of which is acid.

Bleed Damage Next Turn: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Since Monkeygod has already posted his actions, I will reply to his and then grandfather in everyone's actions before the Grizzled Gatorpede goes again. It follows initiative order, even if it will look a bit disorganized.

Elgorbb's gambit paid off well, as his blade finds purchase in the Gatorpede's back. The creature squeals in pain and thrashes it's segmented body wildly. Crit confirmed!

I was posting to my Talented Beasts and Where to Find Them game and I encountered a strange error when previewing posts. I formatted up a full attack pounce and separated the different equations with ;. That gave me a really strange result: it changed my second and third 1d20+14 rolls into 100d20+14 rolls. I tried replacing the ;s with ,s and just plain spaces, to no avail. I even tried retyping the entire formula and sent a friend the formula to proofread for errors. The equation is not the problem, it seems. Any advice on how to fix this?

I tried getting the post in, previewed it, and discovered that I am having technical problems with the full attack rolls. The equation, which I properly formatted, consisted of 3 rolls. The first was normal, but the other two were showing 1d20 as 100d20 and bringing me a number over 2,000. Working on a solution now.

Bump for mighty justice?
