Khalit was raised from a very young age by an older girl named Haleen, along with his twin sister Martika, and a Mwangi girl named Mirama.

At least, it was always assumed that he and Martika were twins. They are the same age, and are near mirror-images of each other, yet Martika's blood burns always hot, while Khalit's moods flash like lightning. Haleen said that they had the blood of the djinn, but different djinn. Khalit's blood even manifested itself in an aptitude for magic.

Growing up surrounded by girls had its effect on Khalit. Haleen and Mirama were older, while Martika matured faster, so Khalit was always the "little brother". Even now, he allows the others to handle most of the physical situations, though he is no weaker than them, and is a capable fighter when necessary.

Khalit is very concerned about Haleen's disappearance, and will do whatever he must to repay the debt that he owes the woman.
