Werecorpse has a very cool use for the Ebidwar. In my campaign the Ebidwar granted my character the Leadership Feat as a bonus feat, a perminent +3 inherent bonus to Charisma (as similar tomes of magic), and situational bonuses to knowledge checks that deal with war or military strategy and such. The book could only be used once. For flavor my GM handled it a bit like Mat from the Wheel of Time Series. After reading this book the "spirit" of the general entered my heroes mind. So during times of war my hero gets flashes of memories that are not his (explaining the bonus to various knowledge skills at odd moments), the leadership and cha bonus reflect a subconsious change in how he holds himself and acts. As there have been no "official" rules put out, this what we went with. I feel it has worked great, and we've enjoyed it. If anyone has rules that work along these lines, are able to expand upon them, or think you have a better use of Ebidwar please let me know. Both my GM and I are interested in seeing what others have done. Just thought I'd put my two cents in. First off can't wait for this new adventure path, been a while since done anything like Ravenloft or Castlevania. I think it's great we are finally seeing one of the new Iconics appear in an adventure path, for me the iconics resemble a kind of family. Much like Mordenkainen or Elminster are for fans of Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms. These are our heroes, while they don't necessarily play any actual role in the story of the world, their images in the various books bring a smile to my face when I get to flip through the art. James, you asked what do we use the iconic stats for. Well for my group, we don't use them. I'm indiffrent on whether they remain in the AP or are removed. However, if they are removed I would like to see a section on the paizo website where we can view the iconics in full. Their full stats (ranging from various levels), their entire backstory, their art, and such. This way if someone ever does want/need to use them, they can still be found. Even if it is online. Thank you all once again at Paizo for creating a campaign world I can finally call home. It took 17 years of gaming, but I finally found it. Basically I suppose it would come down to a house ruleing on wands and staves. Whether the GM would allow for the player to "emulate" spellcasters from various books and movies. Least till someone at Paizo wishes to make some sort of "OFFICIAL" ruling, which I doubt they will. Not like it's actually a big deal. Interesting thread, and very helpful. But I've a question. If your Arcane Bond is a wand why could you not use that to make somatic gestures? Or maybe I spent to much time reading the Harry Potter books lol. Now why I agree that I would not allow anyone who has a wand to make such use of it, and would say you would have to use it with an empty hand, I feel wizards with the arcane bond of a wand should be allowed to use the wand to make such gestures. Hey guys, I asked this a while back but was never sure if it was answered (sorry). I am merely curious if Paizo currently has any plans on producing a hardcopy collection of the Pathfinder Society modules at the end of a season. Speaking merely for myself I find it annoying that there is the e-mail print and such on each page of the book, which makes it difficult to print. Especially for those of us without access to a printer (yes some of us do exist). I hope that someday soon we'll see a nice print edition of each season of Pathfinder Society adventures in a single book. Thanks for any info on this. -Kev Lisa Stevens wrote:
Lisa, James while I'll miss the new artwork, I think this is probably the smarter choice. Saves me money as I've been collecting Paizo's products, and had to go out of my way to get the Second Darkness cover. As for the loss of the set pieces, probably another good idea. I feel they sometimes took away from the adventure path itself. You guys are doing a great job, please keep it up. Just don't get rid of the campaign traits in each adventure path, we love this concept. OH, and on an off topic note here. PLEASE PLEASE think of coming out with a book of all the Pathfinder Society adventures in print maybe at the end of each season. I'd like to be able to put them on my shelf without printing them and having those annoying headers on top with our name and number and such. Thanks for all your hard work,
I love that now days we can get character sheets for a game by simply downloading them offline and printing them off. However, I miss the days of old 2nd edition D&D when you could go out and buy a book filled with character sheets that can be easily ripped out and put to use. Paizo, my friends, are there any plans on putting out a book of sheets for about 5 USD or so? Hey Cosmo and staff, I'd like to report that I have yet to receive this order (1199221) containing 3 books. I have received two shipments after this order was mailed out. This order will be 1 month late in 4 days. Any help will be appreciated, and if I receive this order in the next few days I'll be sure to inform you. Thanks again Cosmo and Staff for all the amazing help you have done in the past, and will in the future. -Kev Navdi wrote:
Completely off topic, but I'll be in Espoo Finland in August. :) Are you a subscriber to both Pathfinder Adventure Path and Pathfinder Modules? If you are not a subscriber to one of them, and just purchased the book they will not ship together to save on shipping. If this is not the case, then I'm not sure what's up, and will leave that to Cosmo or Vic to answer. Cosmo,
Kev You can e-mail me at KevinATurner@mail2world.com if need be. I'm with the Paizo Golem. The goblin shirt, though nice in colour has already been done. And as for the fighter, that is a type of shirt I would not wear. not saying others wouldn't, but I rarely wear "gaming" shirts or such anymore. The Paizo Golem is something I think works well, and truely gets to show off my favorite gaming publisher. Runzyl Steelsong wrote:
'ello folks. I'd just like to say that I was witness to these rolls, and that there is no "funny" buisness involved. Great job mate. To answer your question James Jacobs and Paizo Publishing have stated on many occation that there will be no intrest in setting things up so that the Adventure Path's must go in order. This does not mean that you cannot play them in order, as you usually will find some ties to previous ones, but usually nothing that would break your game. So in short if you want to run Curse of the Crimson Throne first, then Second Darkness, and then Rise of the Runelords you can. Joseph when I noticed your entry was about Phobias my interested perked up real fast. But I'm sad to say I feel you really dropped the ball here. I wish I could give you more advice, but as I neither tried out for Superstar nor would have made it to the Top 8, I do not feel I am entitled to tell you how to do your writing. However, my only advice is listen to Wulf, Erik, and Clark. They bring of good points and sound advice. Mike McArtor wrote:
Mike I sure hope to be seeing you in August. Always need a good laugh, and you always seem to be able to deliver. As for that picture of the Deathcap...is it just me or does it remind you of Mother Brain from Captain N? And if you don't know who or what Captain N is....well...look to the 80s to find out. To my knowledge Alegard there currently are no player handounts and maps available for download. Well there is a few maps for Pathfinder 1 and Pathfinder 2, however they can be found in the Blog. There is however one new map so to speak for Pathfinder 2, and to get to it you need to filter through the Blog. If Ungoded is around I am sure he'll be able to get you a link. I must admit it would be nice to be able to download some handouts and pictures without the writing inprinted into it. Actually they'll move on to the final 6, then they have to come up with an encounter, then they go on to the final 4 to create a full blown adventure. I'm truelly excited, and look forward to seeing what these talented people can dish out. My advice: Listen to the judges, they know what they are talking about. You might think they are being mean, or picking on you but please take their critisim, and use it. They are only here to help. Funny Nick I thought beat up Nicolas Logue was the best hours spent at GenCon lol. IronDM is probably one of the greatest gaming events ran at GenCon. For those of you out there who have yet to attend as either a DM or a Player I highly recommend you stop on by. For information please visit www.irondm.com or contact myself, Nicolas Logue or the great Lou, and we'll be glad to help. Look forward to seeing Paizo at IronDM again this coming year. The only mechanics that have been described is that you will gain the normal power of the ioun stone. So basically by putting one into the wayfinder you can gain the power of a single ioun stone without needing it fly around your head. However, by doing this you do lose the power for it to cast the spell light at free will. As well it is noted that the Wayfinder can unleash hidden new powers from an Ioun stone, again this has not been explained in game mechanics. Maybe James will be kind enough to let everyone know more. I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Christmas, and a happy Holiday to everyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas. Lisa, James, Wes, Jason, Erik, Josh, Mike, Cosmo, and everyone else at Paizo thank you for a wonderful year and look forward to another great one. Lilith, Daigle, Triple G, Nick, Jade, Pygon, Wyvern, Tensor, and everyone else on the boards thanks for being there when needed, and being wonderful people to talk to and hang out with. I wish you all the best. Tatterdemalion wrote:
Heh. Actually in 1999, they published a full blown adventure called "Apocalypse Stone". This adventure was designed to destroy your campaign world, giving open to your brand new 3.0 edition campaign. Amazingly the adventure wasn't half bad. EDIT: Sorry didn't read far enough and see that someone else already explained this. Oops. Sometimes it does take a good while. This has nothing to do with Paizo Publishing, but those shipping. I too have had mine shipped in the early of the month and not recieved it till the 19th. I would recommend talking to who ever delivers your packages. As well as being the month of Holiday, packages sometimes take longer. Having worked in a post office for a few days, I know how hetic it can become. Sadly all I can say is have patience, now if you don't get by January, I would call Cosmo at Paizo. Cosmo being the customer service. He is a wonderful guy, and will be happy to figure something out I'm sure.
