One thing I will say is that 5E got it right in the amount of products it releases, which are minimal.

- 3 Core Books
- An adventure HC or 2 a year
- One crunch/fluff combo book about a specific topic

So in 4 years they have (I think)

- 3 Core Books
- 8 Adventures
- 3 Fluff/Crunch Niche Books (Volo, Mordenkainen and Xanathar)

I don't think people want non-stop books of feats and mediocre classes. Sales of 5E seem to indicate this and my personal buying preferences align with this philosophy.

That would defeat the purpose of a new edition, which is to be different enough to be worth the expenditure and development time and money.

So, they don't want people to buy a whole new set of: Core Rulebook, Bestiaries, Advanced Guides, etc? If you say so, man.

I bought a lot of books for 3.5 that I never used or where a pain in the ass to use in game. I didn't make that mistake with Pathfinder. With the exception of the APs, I own: Core Rulebook, Bestiary 1, and APG. That's it. When you keep adding books of feats, etc. you have too many products that during gameplay turn into a chore because everybody is flipping through 25 books to find one thing out of it, so I never made that mistake with PF.

There are a lot of people that still buy a lot of books (Bestiaries 1-6, All of the Advanced Guides, etc.), but the audience is small for all of these products and once all the people that are ever going to buy them have, well its time to put out a whole new set of books in a new version for these same people to buy all over again.

I've yet to see a good reason why that step was necessary at all. "People nowadays are too stupid to understand the PF rules" can't be it

Hi,

I write articles about tabletop RPGs for filmgoblin.com. My newest one is for new gamers and goes over the Beginner Box and the 5e Starter Set. It covers things you need and my thoughts on the system. This is the first one I have written about modern gaming. Usually I write about old school 1e AD&D.

How about an AP with the theme of revenge

Part 1 has the PC's humiliated (and possibly even killed) by a group of 5 bad types.
Each of parts 2-6 deal with the PC's getting revenge on one of the bad guys.

Season with plot twists as required.

Awesome. Sounds like Kill Bill. Death List 5!

Name of PC: Ezren
Class/Level: Wizard 6
Adventure: The Hook Mountain Massacre
Catalyst: Jaagrath's Hook

Story: After sneaking into the barn at the Graul Farmhouse and rescuing the captive rangers the party returned to check out the farmhouse the next morning. It was abandoned so the party headed to Fort Rannick and entered via the cave behind the waterfall. They had some monumental battles against Lucretia and ogres on the second floor. As the party was laying waste to the orge sorceress and fighter at the end of the hall, Jaargrath opened to door to the chapel and struck the wizard who watched the combat from the hallway from behind. He was severely wounded and felled as he tried to flee the next round. Sadly, had he survived he would have had enough XP to almost be 8th level.

(If you are a player in a RotRL campaign, why are you reading this specific message board?)

I directed my group to the thread since we had a fatality and thought they'd like to read it. Also, I let them know they can read anything from Burnt Offerings since they are done with that chapter.

Level 3? Should she not have been at least Level 4 at that point (Lvl 5 being more likely)?

They had enough XP to level to 4th, but hadn't actually done it yet. I'm running it with Pathfinder, not 3.5, medium XP track.

Name of PC: Merisiel
Class/Level: Elf Rouge 3
Adventure: Skinsaw Murders
Catalyst: Not listening to the fighter
Story: After following Iesha's revenant down to the caverns and helping her dispatch her loving husband the party read the letter from the Brotherhood and decided to search the caverns for more clues. The fighter who had enough of the haunted and foul house waited upstairs for the group to return so they could make their exit. He tried to convince the others to join him, but they refused. The rest of the party met up with the undead dire bat in its lair and were quickly paralyzed. He made a meal of Merisiel and the wizard. Luckily for him the Druid awoke and was able to fell the foul beast. He healed the wizard who was near the brink, but was unable to bring the Rouge back from her untimely demise. The remaining party members head out of their quickly after meeting back up with the fighter.

I'm tempted to nominate Irresistable Dance, if only because that seems like a very Witchy thing to do. I don't know why but Sword in the Stone is what keeps popping into mind whenever I think of this class.

Nice catch. I think Irresistable Dance would be a great spell to add to the witch's spell list as well.

I think Hideous Laughter should be part of the Witch's spell list. I think it fits really well with the concept (cakcle, etc.)

Am I missing the reason that the initial sugestion of slapping a 30 foot range on them isn't a viable option?

Torger

This would be my suggestion as well, making most/all offensive hexes short range spell-like abilities.

I like this best as well. If not, then option 1.
