"Oil and water would be a better comparison, since oil makes fire burn longer."

*CHOMP*
*chew*
*swallow*
*repeat*

"You realize that if you do need rest and aren't going to go take a nap, I will go get an enchanted pillow, right?"

"And as for normal, there's a boy here who can change his clothes into fine powder, there's a girl that has her own gravitational pull, fraternal twins that so far can switch bodies at the most inappropriate time, another boy that can objects into ice cream(and it's usually his desk), yet another..." Keaton goes on proving his point until stopped, just like any uncle with a pulse would.

Ephebe wrote:
"Huh? Uncle Keaton? What are you doing down here? Oh, and that's not the clock the note was talking about. I was going to get some rest and practice time, but if you're ready to go see Soli now, it can wait. Since I actually do have all the time in the world," she said with an obviously forced attempt at humor.

"It's not? My apologies, I thought perhaps there was something strange happening with your Clock. Anyway, if you need to rest I can wait. I happen to have plenty of time too." Keaton replies with the same amount of forced humor. "It's not like I'm dying or anything."

I can delete my post if you want. I forgot about Kronos' Clock and thought you were talking about Soli's, just like you said.

Ephebe wrote:
She stepped into the Clock.

A cold hand grabs her shoulder and keeps her from completing her movement.

"Good afternoon, Ephebe. I believe the note said something about you and the dead one going into the clock?"

Oooh, vacation? Where?

"You have partially hit the nail on the head, Mr. Krays. My vampirism came with a lot of abilities that I will miss if I changed back. Do not worry about appearing to make light of this, for you have posed excellent questions and views on the subject."

"Then it's a good thing I'm not hungry right now, isn't it?" Keaton says with a kind smile(one that keeps his fangs hidden, so he's definitely practiced). "It's quite true, Mr. Krays, I'm one of the good guys. If you can't trust me, I'm quite sure you can trust my niece by now."

Now, to be fair to Krays, I didn't know if he was there or not either.

Ephebe wrote:
"Uncle Keaton? You know we'll all still love you no matter what you choose, right?"

"Oh, Ephebe, that is not was is bothering me at all!" Keaton says with a light laugh. "But thank you for reminding me all the same. Now, why don't you introduce your friend? If I didn't know any better, I'd say he was trying to stake me with his stare."

"Yes... I'm sure they would have their own opinions..." Keaton says vaguely as he turn back to the shelf. "It was nice to see see you again, Ephebe. I will have my answer before the you must return the amulet."

"Then I will need to think about it. There are many things I cannot do right now that I could do as a human, but the reverse is also true. There is a lot to consider."

Ephebe:
Keaton seems afraid of something.

Ephebe wrote:
"But while I'm looking....it can cure you. Make you human again...I mean, if that's something you actually want."

Keaton's hand slips and leaves a book part way off the shelf. After a moment he pushes it it back and turns to look at his niece.

"You are saying that this artifact can cure my... condition?"

Hmm, has Krays ever met Keaton before? I wonder how he and Death will react... Krays should note that Keaton still looks like he's alive, a side effect of the serum he takes.

Ephebe would know that the most like place to find Keaton would be the library. He actually uses a lot of the salary he gets on new or obscure books, have little need for anything else.

The search for her uncle ends in the Mystery section of Avalon's expansive library, scanning a shelf for a specific novel. He doesn't look away from the bookshelf as he says a greeting.

"Hello. Is there anything in particular you're looking for, or does my sister-in-law need me for something and sent you to act as messenger?"

Just be sure he stays away from my data.

narrator wrote:
Yes, theories can be quite interesting can't they? :)

It's quite simple really. I was not bitten by an Agarthian vampire. Vampirism down here would have changed to become weak to the sun crystal, but my vampirism is only weak to the real thing.

narrator wrote:
"THE VAMPIRE LORD WANTS IT TO GAIN THE ABILITY TO WALK AMONG THE LIVING AND BE FREED FROM HIS WEAKNESSES WHILE YET RETAINING HIS STRENGTH. THIS MUST NOT BE ALLOWED."

It's not like I wasn't already doing this.. though I have a theory about why I can.

Ephebe wrote:
Squee! Away from Jimimy time! You're the best uncle ever! ;)

I had considered giving the ticket to Jiminy, but that just wouldn't be fair to the Atlateans. I mean, come on, how many more times does their city have to sink?

Ephebe wrote:
"Would that stuff work on an artifact?" she asked doubtfully. "I've heard they can be kind of tricky. I mean, it's good ideas, except for the curse, but I'm probably just saying that cause if we can keep the artifact I want to use it to help my uncle. Anyways, the point is I'm not sure if that stuff can be done, but if it can...well, that does seem like the best solution."

You get an extra big birthday present this year! Perhaps a ticket down to Atlantis for some "away-fomr-that-terror-Jiminy" time...

OOC: For some reason my immediate thought was "But I don't want to change back anymore!" I mean, really, relearning all the stuff I was learning growing up(you can't breath underwater, you can't hang from the rafters and sleep, etc etc) just seems really tedious.

Keaton shakes his head. He walks over to Ephebe and whispers to her.

Ephebe:
"I hold no illusion about what I remember. I wasn't impressed by the way you fought back then, but the fact you kept fighting. Even after 300 failures, you didn't give up. It was your spirit's strength that impressed me the most back then."

He leaves then, his cape billowing as he walks off.

I'll let the students handle whatever EJ has planned. (:<

Ephebe wrote:
"I just don't get why they always seem to expect so much more of me. It's like they think I'm holding back when really I'm just not that good."

Perception:1d20 + 27 ⇒ (9) + 27 = 36

"Something about the way you traveled a few decades ago, and what you were doing during those travels, I'm sure."

The light in the gym returns to normal with Keaton just a few feet from Asch.

"I'm impressed. I only got about half of the class this time." He says as he goes to get his cape. "I have to admit, I expected to catch a much greater number of you, since for most it is your first day here."

The bell rings, signaling the end of class.

"However, none of you said anything when the minute was up. Fear(and boredom for those I caught) can make one experience time differently. Class dismissed."

Ephebe wrote:
Ephebe shrieked briefly as she froze, her hiding place not being quite good enough.

"I can't believe this. I know you don't have much fighting skill, but I would think you could have at least kept yourself moving. You have such a strong spirit too.." Keaton says as he lays a hand on Ephebe's shoulder. "Caught."

Spin wrote:
Quick Question (tm): Is this normal total darkness or Darkness the spells?

Just normal darkness.

Perception:1d20 + 27 ⇒ (10) + 27 = 37
1d20 + 27 ⇒ (19) + 27 = 46
1d20 + 27 ⇒ (2) + 27 = 29
1d20 + 27 ⇒ (14) + 27 = 41

"That one is rather quick..." Keaton thinks as he raps a student trying to sneak up him on the head with his cane. "Not many people can escape my sight, even for a short time." He flicks his hand out toward Asch and the tattoos one his under, hidden from veiw by his sleeve, glow faintly as the floor in front of Asch becomes greasy and treacherous...

Dc13 Reflex Save or fall prone.

Eldritch Jello wrote:
Keaton, please announce when class is over. I know there is always room for Jello but still... :)

Of course. Why a dessert is asking me this is strange though... :)

Something black cuts through the darkness and another student yells as he's paralyzed.

"Come on, you should be able to do better than this! I've already gotten two of you!"

"No questions?" Keaton says, a little sad. Usually at least one student had something to say. Oh well, it can't be helped this time. With a tap of his cane the lights go grow dim. Someone screams and then you hear the dangerous whisper.

"Go!"

Aanandareavekki wrote:

She walked back into the gym.

"Keaton, would you mind taking over for the rest of this class period?"

"No problem, Aananada, I was thinking of helping you out today anyway. I don't have a Theology class to teach until later." He turns to the students and flashes that smile again. "I guess introductions are in order. I am Mr. Antairus, but you may call me Keaton if you wish."

"Now," he says with a slight tap from cane. "I can't throw boulders like Mrs. Sunwake can.." His smile grows bigger as he hears several students sigh in relief. "But I have my own ways of making you move and I assure they are no less strenuous!"

He puts his cape up on a hook and turns to face the class.

"Okay, it's time for one of my favorite exercises! Now, in a few moments the lights will dim to the point that you can just barely see. This is supposed to happen. There will be obstacles that you have to dodge around and use to hide.. for a while."

"For one minute while the lights are out, your main objective to to keep from being caught by me. If you are caught the magic of the room will paralyze you until after the lights come on. Any questions?"

Asch Redgrave wrote:
He still keeps his eyes on the vampire watching just in case he does anything. He stands next to Amada with one arm around her waist.

Keaton waves when he notices the stare but otherwise does nothing but keep an eye on the class.

Not to sound snippy (I probably will), but the fact that the oozes are secret is rather important in defining Vakkler's character.

No, not snippy at all. My apologies. Everyone ignore that part of my post.

Ephebe wrote:
She burst into the gym, gun in hand and looking a little freaked out.

"Ah, Ephebe! How goes my star theology student?"

Ephebe wrote:
"Mom! There's an ooze wandering the hall! I hit it with a slow spell, but it needs to be contained before it eats someone!"

"Well, that can't be good. The oozes usually stay in the pipes where there is plenty of food..."

Asch Redgrave wrote:
"Un...undead." He manages to say as his shaking lessens slightly. "I...I think..I'll be ok." He says as he glares at the vampire.

"Come now boy, I can smell your cut palms from here. I assure you I can't be hurt badly." He says with a grin that shows of his own fangs.

Aanandareavekki wrote:
"Yeah, and that was quite the shock, let me tell you. I wish I could have met her. And it's hard to be patient until he thinks it's okay for me to meet the little ones," she added, smiling.

"Yes, well, I can probably arrange something.. my brother keeps so many secrets he should't, so why can't we?" He says with a sly grin. "Besides, I must do something to ensure you keep working on my serum."

Aanandareavekki wrote:

"Who's the new....." Asch starts to ask and then the hunger explodes within him like a ton of bricks exposing him as an undead. "Who are you!" He asks as the familiar pain starts in his mouth as his jaws are forced open by elongating fangs.
"Asch! Get it under control!" she snapped. "Mr. Antairus is here as a guest teacher."

"Oh no, Mrs. Sunwake, let him proceed." Keaton says as he turns to meet Asch's gaze head on. "This is a P.E class afterall, and you did just say I was a guest teacher." He moves his cape out of the way so it is not in the way of his cane as he twirls it. "Besides, it's be awhile since I've got any real excitement."

Aanandareavekki wrote:
"Honestly, most of them. It's just my daughter and her friends I'm not so sure about. I'm starting to feel bad about insisting that she come back to school this term."

"If the version of the discussion I heard from Ryo is correct, it was not a decision you made alone. Nor is it a decision she had to abide by."

"But enough of such sad discussion so early in the morning(for you anyway)! I hear you know about Ryo nearly three decades old secret?"

Thank you, we try! :)

"How many do you think are going to come back after ten minutes of thinking you're crazy?" Keaton asks with a raised eyebrow.

The giant bat let's go of the rafter it's hanging from and swoops down, changing into a human as soon as it gets close enough to the ground to walk.

"It would seem, Mrs. Sunwake, that your first class has mixed results." Keaton says with a smile. He looks over his shoulder at Spin, a harsh look in the one eye Spin can see. "She doesn't understand that you were joking, young shapeshifter, and such jokes shouldn't be made anyway."

Asch Redgrave wrote:
Will you be showing up in all your vampiricness?

Showing up? I'm already there! I'd prefer to 'make my entrance' when Lyn's back of course, so we can have the entire class greet me.

Asch is quite the smart one-fang, isn't he? I expect a blow to be struck towards me at one point or the other, and it may even be as part of Advanced P.E...

Of course, I've trained extensively for defense, so we'll see how that goes...

It would be better if you made your own, but I'll share. Though, to be fair, can you truly trust a vampire that hands you a vial of red liquid and says it will help with the hunger?

Another interesting thought, how will the necromantic presence effect your 'living' half?

We could always see what my serum does to you.. Keeps the hunger away from me for a few days, so seeing what it will do to you will be interesting...

Spin wrote:
One of the beams swings out of its own accord, smashing BaldEagle-Spin into a floor-bound spiral, stars spinning around his bald head.

"Casualty number one." The bat thinks solemnly as it drops from it's roost and snaps it's wings out. Diving fast, it literally knocks some sense into Spin with a midair collision that causes him to fly right-side up. It quickly goes back to it's roost.

"So this is the new batch of victims? The poor fools don't know what they're in for!" A large bat hanging from the rafters thinks. "I wonder which will be the first to cry this semester?"

Asch Redgrave wrote:
Sorry you can't trump a gungrave amv that has music from devil may cry. Also Spin Asch looks forward to the chance to face you in class :)

Bah. It's Alucard set to classical music. Much better than DMC's music. The anime was disappointing too(though the DMC3 game was good).

Keaton's AMV Theme Song

lol...yeah it should definitely be interesting...

Don't worry too much, the boy is too young to come from my short reign of terror...

Of course, I didn't actually kill people myself in those days, so even if he was old enough, he would be one of mine...

*twirls cane*

"Hello my dear sister-in-law. Do you mind if I make an appearance in your class? You only show off the advantage of mobile fighting, and my own training has taken a slightly different route..."

"Just leave out the whole 'Bloodfang' honorific when you introduce me. Keaton or Mr. Antairus will do fine."

"Isn't that nice if it were me I'd have tried to kill her for that." He comments as he walks up to Taron and everyone else. "Or at least injure her." He says with a small grin revealing his pointed fangs.
Hmmm.......

Don't look at me! I never turned anyone!

Keaton leans against his hammer as he watches the lich turn to ash.

"You realize of course, that we're going to be seeing him again? Liches aren't the easiest things to get rid of. It was nice to get a little excercise though."

"Well, since the kiddies are safe, I'm going to back to my reading."

His form darkens until his is nothing more thatn a shapeless shadow again, vanishing into the garden and then heading to the attic.

"Only if you can hit me!" Keaton mocks as he sidesteps the swing and returns the favor twofold.

1st Attack:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
Damage:2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3) + 8 = 17

2nd Attack:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Damage:2d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 6) + 8 = 19

Will Save: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25

"Ooh, nice bit of magic you just tried. To bad it didn't work."
His maul glows silver as he pushes energy into it, slamming it down on the shadows and causing a tiny shockwave.

Using the Hideous Blow Invocation.
Attack:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
Damage:2d6 + 8 + 3d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 8 + (3, 3, 4) + (4, 5) = 36

Guess who got drafted for moving stuff?

The shadow slams Keaton square in the chest, but that seems to be all it does.

"Not my concern? I think that is for me to decide." He says as he waves his hand and calls a cloud of silver dust into existence to fall over the darkness.

Glitterdust, DC 17 Will save or be blinded.

"To you maybe." A voice echoes. "Weren't you just told you shouldn't mess with children?"

A darkness surges out from the garden, slamming into the shadow before it even gets close to the kids. It writhes as it it grows and takes shape.

"Now why don't we do a little shadow-boxing?"
