Thanks all, especially for saving Kargen twice in this run.

Yes, I will take a pause for the next game. Good luck!

Kargen smiles and shakes Amy's hand. "Good working with you. Thanks for saving my ass from both the juggernaut and the demon. I'd be happy to work with you anytime."

He smirks at Gervase. "Did a pretty good job in the briarwood for a sailor. Maybe you're not all bad!"

Kargen gives Turin a gentle pat. "I know, buddy. This forest is nasty. Let's try getting out of here."

He will auto-aid Gervase on survival, though he grouses about a sailor doing the land navigation.

Kargen glances at Amy. "Actually yes, he sold me the bag and a couple magic arrows if I remember correctly. He even offered to have it changed color if I wanted."

He looks at Gervase in surprise. "Did you say she's had to slaughter a few of the employees? I find it hard to think she still welcome if that's the case."

Kargen loads his handy haversack with some of the ingots as well.

A haversack can hold 100lb in its extra-dimensional spaces. With Kargen's normal gear included, maybe we call it 60 pounds?

Kargen shakes his head. "Damn, filthy demons. And it nearly had me done for too. Thanks for rescuing me. You can see why the Worldwound is so dangerous with things like this filling the area. Even one demon can kill a whole host of troops."

He kneels down next to the two dead elves, asking Erastil for their blessing on these hunters.

Kargen retches his entire day's meal all over the bog floor, then he shoots up into the air 20 feet. The Hunter finally gets a good look around. "What happened to the demon?" He looks around frantically before spotting its corpse below. "Wow, good work!"

He spots the giant leech and takes aim at it instead.

You all see Kargen completely sweating through his shirt as he struggles with his equipment through the briarwood. The Hunter looks very pale. "Uh, I think I might need one of those potions we got," he says as they pause for a rest. "This is tougher going than I expected."

He sounds like he's just run a marathon flat out. Kargen pulls out his metamagic rod again and uses it to cast heroism on himself again. "Ugh, that's a little bit better."

Kargen is a bit red-faced from the hike through the briar, and he seems to be straining more as he carries his pack. When the satyr appears and seems to speak to Thoriel's chest, a scowl crosses the archer's face. He looks about to say something, when Amy explains the fey's nature. I just remembered Kargen has Target of Opportunity. When an ally makes a ranged attack within 30 feet (such as Gervase), he gets to use an immediate to attack the same target.

As Gervase's arrow strikes the remaining demon, Kargen takes advantage of the hit to draw, nock, and fire his own arrow in a blur of speed.

Then he steps a bit closer to the demon and unloads more cold iron into the creature.

Wall of Text:
Kargen wanders through a field of ripe wheat and corn, seeing a simple cottage at the edge of some woods. He walks up to the door and opens it, watching a very cozy scene unfold. A warm fire is going in the hearth near a soft chair and several fur rugs. A delicious smelling stew bubbles from a shallow cauldron near the hearth filling the air with a warm smell of potatoes, carrots, cabbage and roasted meat. The archer enters, closing the door behind him and sits on a bench to take off his boots. He pads across the soft furs over to the stew, sniffing at it. Perhaps a mixture of boar and bear meat?

His mouth watering, he finds a bowl in the cupboard and ladles out some of the stew. He takes it over to a table, conscious that the soft chair isn't for him. He pours himself some fresh water from a clay jug and then sits at a hand carved table to enjoy the meal. The meat is succulent and the gravy is warm and spicy. He finishes the bowl rather quickly and leans back satisfied. While he contemplates a second helping, he spots a set of pipes and a leather tobacco pouch. Filling one of the pipes, he lights it and breathes in a sweet aroma.

Suddenly, the door opens and a tall hunter enters, carrying a young stag draped across his shoulders. He carries the day's kill into the kitchen and then turns around to see Kargen seated at the table. A look of surprise flashes across his face. "What are you doing in my lodge?!" Fear shoots through Kargen's body as he realizes he just helped himself to this man's food and pipe. He sits frozen, unable to speak. The tall man studies Kargen for a moment and then walks over to the window, peeking out of the curtains. He sighs. "Ah, that. I suppose you aren't the first."

He looks down at the empty bowl and the pipe, smoke curling up from it. He tsks and a look of exasperation cross his face. "You're not supposed to be here." He grabs the empty bowl, taking it back from Kargen. He shakes his head, walking over to the stew cooking on the hearth. He ladles another portion into the bowl and then carries it back to the table. He drops it unceremoniously in front of Kargen. "You're not supposed to be here, yet. Now eat some more before you go. I have a feeling it won't be long, Hunter." He goes to sit into the large armchair and light his own pipe, settling in for a bit.

Kargen reaches for the bowl and suddenly his vision goes dark. He blinks and he can see again, but now he has a panicked vision of his head on backwards.

The Andoran archer gasps and looks up seeing Nina looking down at him. Pain shoots through his entire body. The man struggles to sit up, drawing a ragged breath. "Oh, what was that?"

Kargen scrambles up the last of the rocks and he finally turns on the creature and fires at it. Divine rage fills him as he feels Old Deadeye's wrath.

Kargen is battered and bruised from the creature just slamming him aside as it moves through the area. "Holy s+@@! We won't stand another one of those!"

He turns and begins climbing up the rock near him to try and get away from the rampaging Briarborn Juggernaut.

Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Really hoping this is an easy climb

Kargen turns from the elven sentries to the gigantic creature. "Whoa. Ok, let's deal with that thing first." He says a prayer to Erastil and feels Old Deadeye grant him a portion of his staunch skill. Then he moves to the side, trying to separate himself from the elves as much as possible.

"Everyone get some cold iron if you don't already have it. And if you do, get more." Kargen tells the group.

Then he fishes two scrolls of abundant ammunition from his pack. "Hey Navy, maybe you can use these. Or help me use them."

Kargen goes to the Elven quartermaster to buy another couple of bundles of cold iron arrows and 2 scrolls of align weapon. He also pulls a bowstave out of his magical quiver and carefully prepares it for battle.

2 bundles of cold iron arrows (40), 2 scrolls of align weapon = 304gp

Kargen is stunned when the letter is read aloud. He nods at the elven General. "General Tenasi, I'm equally surprised by this specific request. I don't know of any task greater than that of combating the Worldwound. However, it is possible that this Dwarven citadel holds weapons or magic that can help us. At the very least, we can't risk allow it to fall into demonic hands." He shakes his head, obviously not quite convinced of his own words.

"You position is understandable, and we will do our best to find Lanverel and the Uprooters. Even if they only help us clear the area of the citadel, killing demons is killing demons and we would be honored to return them to your count of soldiers too."

"Did the Uprooters have a mission near Mount Armiya? Perhaps something they are still attempting to finish?"
