Anyway, how would you rule the effect of a merciful disentergration? Does it kill the target or just knock him out for a really long time? I know it seems obvious, but this could be a way to induce comas in-game...
Kara will cast featherfall on some one if they fall. Really wishing I had bought that rod of ropes back in character generation now, because of have this visual of Kara repelling down the side of the tree...

"We're just here to look for something, a bow like my friend has, and don't mean you any harm. None of us are going to hurt you. Could you help us look for it?"
Kara recognizes it as a ratatosk, a denizen of the plane. Not naturally offensive, they are fond of gifts of food, and are generally considered honorable to all creatures, provided they are not mistreated.
"Peace Finrod, it won't hurt us. Ratatosk are friendly as long as you are."
Kara searches her pack for the food she just bought, sure she had some dried fruit some where...
"Ah, here we go!"
She walks over to the creature, holding out the meager amount of fruit she could find among her rations.
We're in the World Ash, and the first thing we meet is a squirrel... If we find an eagle and a hawk at the top, and a dragon chewing on the root, this part of the adventure was pulled straight from Norse mythology, something I don't mind at all!
Jasper is fascinated by the showy transformation Kara performs.
"Amazing!" He reaches out to touch one of the claws to confirm its reality. "But Kara, perhaps the songs came from the blood and not the other way around. I've heard of some having draconic heritage - you could be one of them! Your parents did push you to become a wizard - they might have known there was something special about you. Perhaps your talent just lay sleeping until you grew up."
"Bah, they just wanted a mage they could boss around..."
Jasper Krail wrote:
He looks about her party, though his eyes come to rest on the mismatched Greene.
"I still don't understand why the Beastlands are thought to hold the key to the safety of Kara's home. While it's not an evil place, the Beastlands aren't much of a warlike realm from what I've heard ... and my ears are often bent with stories."
"When I say 'my home', I mean the Material Plane, not a city or town. I'm a nomad of sorts, moving from place to place hunting for a place to sing freely."
Jasper Krail wrote:
Quickly fixing his statement, he glances to Kara. "Not that all stories are bad. Yours is lovely, and I believe it." He taps his chin. "Except the part about these 'Songs of Power'. After all, you had yet to hear me."
He flashes the short lass a grin, and looks to the Sons of Mercy, noting their reaction to the group, if any.
"Oh, so we have a joker in the room. Well, maybe at a more convenient time we can let an audience decide who has a better 'Song of Power'."
Kara clenches her fist under the table. How many people knew who she really was?
"I knew I never should have stopped coloring my hair, it's just too obvious..."
"Okay Greene, you want my story? You got it. My real name is Kara HighHill, only daughter of a merchant family in Highmoon. At first my parents wanted me to be a wizard, and were sorely disappointed when I couldn't cast a single cantrip. So what do they do with me next? They send me off to train as a city guard, with even asking me if I wanted to be one! By the end of the week I ran off to Dagger Falls, and ended up joining a bunch of traveling performers, who became like family to me. I became well known as Kara of the Silver Hair, which did much to spread word of my locations, both past and present. Without even knowing it, I was back in Highmoon and spotted by my brothers, who had been sent to see if I was there sister and not some one with the same name. I left almost immediately after the show was over, on the run again."
"Then something wounderful happened. Magical songs filled my mind, and the power of the Old Wyrms flowed through my blood!" To illustrate her point, she brings her hands above the table as the nails become wicked claws. Her lips part just enough to revela, not teeth, but razor-sharp fangs. "Now I'm here, trying to save my home."
She leans back and sighs.
"It fills so good to have the truth out now."
"As for the Beastlands, it's an interesting plane, like Krail suspects. It actually crosses over into other Planes, and it's said a few gods and goddesses have a place of residence there. We don't want to kill any creature there except in defense, because I think the Plane itself may not like that. We wouldn't be able to eat any of the beasts anyway, since they vanish when dead. There are three layers to the Beastlands. Kirgala is the place of day, Brux is the place of dawn and dusk, and Karasuthra(Hey, my names part of a Plane!) is a place of night. Each place is stuck at that particular time of day."
"Aside from animals both celestial and normal, we may see good lycanthropes(shapeshifters, like werewolves) and an assortment of celestials. If we're lucky, we can find one willing to help us."
Using up my Lore Master ability's one natural 20 for the day, Knowledge(The Planes): 28. I love the Beastlands by the way, it's just the best Plane in my opinion!
"Another sailor on this voyage would be nice, if my friends here will have you aboard our little ship."
She gives him a once over.
Perception:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
"Whip calluses on your hands show you can fight. That's always helpful, and it would be nice to have a little whip fight with someone to keep my skills from going rusty. You offered a tune, so your a musician of sorts. I wonder... just how much like me are you, Mr. Krail?"
"It was bound to happen in a city of mixed planar beings sooner or later. We just got to be the unlucky ones. But better us than those who can't defend themselves. But you aren't a celestial, so you can tell when the right thing isn't actually the right thing. You at least would have checked to see if the person was evil before accusing them."
She finds a nice table for everyone(or tables close together if necessary), and sits down.
"But let's not dwell on bad times. My only regret was that it had to happen so soon after the Sensorium. 'Fight after flight' is not the phrase most people use..."
And the celestial post goes to the Silver Lady! 777, and after beating some Archons too!
"Corvax? Where have you been? I haven't seen you since we sold those swords! Given your new scar, I've no doubt you got into a bit of trouble without us."
Finrod, you forgot the +2 to attack and damge rolls from my song.
Kara charges the planar bear, sword flashing as she strikes out at it.
She nevers loses her place in her song as she does this though, and it actually seems to pick up the pace.
Using Arcane Strike: +2 to damage for 1 round and my weapons are considered magical
Shortsword:1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 34 Damage:1d4 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 2 + 2 = 9 The charge, song, Arcane Strike, and flanking bonuses are included in the above rolls. Current AC: 26
Will Save:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 (+2 if a fear effect)
Knowing this battle could end badly, Kara steps back and begins to sing.
Inspire Courage. +2 to attack/damage rolls and to saves against charm and fear effects for my allies.
The Song:
Lyrics(slightly edited) - Erin Bowman - Battle Cry (Stand Up!):
"Sometimes, it's hard to know...
Which way you're supposed to go...
But deep inside, you know you're strong,
If you follow your heart, you can't be wrong...
Sometimes, it's hard to see...
Just what's your destiny...
But when you find the path that's true,
You know that's the one for you!
STAND UP! (STAND UP!)
For what is right!
BE BRAVE! (BE BRAVE!)
Get ready to fight!
HOLD ON! (HOLD ON!)
We're friends for life!
And if we come, together as one,
Complete the quest we've begun,
We will win the battle,
no matter what!
Woohoo!
The time is now, the game's begun,
Together, we will fight as one,
Each of us, in our own way,
Can make this world a better place!
STAND UP! (STAND UP!)
For what is right!
BE BRAVE! (BE BRAVE!)
Get ready to fight!
HOLD ON! (HOLD ON!)
We're friends for life!
And if we come, together as one,
Complete the quest we've begun,
We will win the battle,
no matter what!
Just when it seems that you are lost, and all alone,
You will find the courage and the strength to carry on!
And if you fall along the way,
Have the faith, you'll be okay,
'Cuz you're friends are there for you,
Reachin' out to pull you through!
STAND UP! (STAND UP!)
For what is right!
BE BRAVE! (BE BRAVE!)
Get ready to fight!
HOLD ON! (HOLD ON!)
We're friends for life!
And if we come, together as one,
Complete the quest we've begun,
We will win the battle,
no matter what!"
Basil, you have no control over the actions of others, and did try to find peaceful ways to avoid a fight. Even now that the Archons have attacked(one to kill), you are not trying to kill them. It's up to our DM, but not one thing you have done seems evil to me. Just my opinion.
Kara moves quickly, getting an angle that won't hit Huergar.
"Chill out you glorified grizzly!"
She takes a deep breath and exhales a blizzard onto the celestial.
Breath Weapon(DC 15 Reflex save for half):4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 6) = 14 Angled(if possible) to not hit any allies.
"If I remember correctly, you're thinking of the Lady of Pain, the city's ruler. She likes it if everyone plays nice, but it seems not everyone does so."
I remembered something about a ruler keeper order in the city, so I went back over the past few pages. She's mentioned by one of the guides, and was made general information by Darkmeer too. I can't wait to see the Ursines reaction to her name!
Kara's hand goes to her her sword, knuckles clenched so tight they've gone white.
"We've been told not to trust fiends or celestials. I see why now. Please back off and calm down, or we will be forced to defend ourselves against your overreactions. If we have to get information from both sides to save our world, so be it. If I must lose my soul so others do not, I will! Strike any of my friends again and see how determined I am..."
That little outburst probably won't stop battle, but it fits. She'll attack if they do.
"I have been called many things by many people, but none have ever chosen to use language so foul. So right now it seems like mortals are better judges of character than you two!"
A puff of frost on her breath, like you see on a cold winter day, adds emphasis to her words. Her blues fade fade to silver as her pupils become slitted like a snake's... or a dragon's.
"My bloodline is noble and true, and an insult to me is an insult to my family! If you continue to do so, I will not be responsible for my actions."
"Well, it seems we really enjoyed the flight, to be in there so long. Guess we should warn them next, huh? Let's wait here, in case our friends are coming here to meet us."
"As for my ancestery, it seems strange to be in me, out of everyone in my family. Silver dragons are noble creatures on the side of good and law, and I went against my parents wishes. Fate has a strange sense of humor.."
"While I agree a preist would be a welcome addition, between us I think we can keep everyone alive. I have a few healing tunes, and my songs alone can increase moral and battle prowess. You have the righteous might of Tyr himself on you're side. I know the others are as skilled in thier feilds of expertise as we are, so we'll be fine. If you think we need a priest, we'll probably end up in a situation where we will. It's all in the way you think, Basil."
She lifts up her hand and watches as her nails grow longer, stronger, and sharper. Silver claws seem to blend seamlessly with her hand.
"And besides, Io decided to bless me with a few tricks too. We've got enough divine strength on our to side to handle nearly anything!"
"Your trust is well placed. You know, I think both of are trying to hide who we are or what we feel, and it's nice to have someone to turn to. But who knew we needed to go to another plane to find that person?"
"If you ever need some one to talk to, I'm always willing to lend an ear."
Basil's fingers close over her hand as he looks down at the tiny yet perfectly formed woman..his eyes aglow with some inner light she has never seen before..
"That was..the most intense experience I have ever had....I thank you my Lady for giving me the chance to live it with you"
He raises her hand..dwarfed as it is in his and lays a courtiers kiss upon it then lets go.
Color rises to redden Kara's face, and she can't help but smile.
"Basil, you flatter me, I'm here because of you as much as you are here because of me! We shared the moment, so I thank you as well."
She pauses for a moment, then continues.
"After such a flight, it doesn't seem right to lie to you anymore. Remember when we first came to Sigil and Finrod said I looked like a singer he'd seen? Well, he wasn't far from the truth. My real name is Kara, and I don't just look like the singer, I am the singer."
And the 666th post goes to...*opens envelope*.. Huergar!
"Just don't get so drunk that the vrock look pretty." Her smiles shows that she is joking, atleast about the vrock looking pretty, but here words are still a warning.
"Any insight we can get into the riddle is essential, as long as it is true. Please remember that we may not have much time."
"Basil, why don't you and I go to the Sensorium then? No one in this group really knows this city yet, and we shouldn't leave anyone alone. Plus, it wouldn't be right if we split up because one person does not want to go into a bar full of demons and devils."
"Who knows, we may even learn about a sage if we go there."
"So this is the answer you got when you asked how to blind the Spider Queen? I think if we each take a part and ask around, we might be able to figure it out. Riddles are so much fun it's too bad we don't have much time to spend on this one ourselves..."
"The bow of the beasts dissolves the taint of the corrupted.. might the rats from earlier know what that means?"
Kara draws her newly gained sword from her belt.
"I also have a blade I can offer, but I can offer some minor healing if that could possible lower the price."
