Kams' family migrated up from Galt through the wild lands of the River Kingdoms, looking for a better life for their meager family. Kams' mother was lost in the political struggles of strife-torn Galt, a wrong word during a hard shift in a tavern brought on the Sisters. This sudden death forced the family to flee or suffer a similar fate. Kams' father blamed himself, and struggled hard to show his two children how to survive, how to succeed, and how to think before they speak. The River Kingdoms proved to be a training ground of ample opportunity, one for lessons both hard and deadly. Alisha, Kams' sister, fell to bandit slavers, her tongue too much for them to leave her be. Kams' father died trying to save his daughter, whilst Kams was lost to rough river currents.
Alone and awash amid the scurvied masses of the River Kingdom, Kams begged, borrowed, and stole what he needed to continue the journey his family started, resolved to make the sacrifices of his loved ones matter for something. Brevoy was to his father a beacon of civilization, the Swordlords saviors to the lost and defeated.
Three years ago, he arrived at the walls of Restov, at last finding something of a home. He has bidded his time, taking odd jobs hunting and tracking for the nobles of the city, and occassionally serving as a guard or scout for the many caravans that leave the city. He watched, he learned, and he studied always those he met, ever improving himself and his lot in life. It hasn't been great money, but it has kept him fed, clothed, and hardened his resolve to build a place where the downtrodden victims of Galt and the River Kingdoms can find solace and freedom to build lives worthy of the sacrifices his family made so many years ago. With the ideals of the Swordlords, a resolve tempered by loss, and a burning desire to avenge his loved ones, Kams seeks an opportunity to make his dreams a reality.
