Kalona appears to be a very large (small size) talking raven, apparently female from the way she talks.
She wears a suit of leather armor (yes as a raven) and the party has observed her doing a mystical dance and song to place it on. It is has very intricate, if small designs with beads, precious gems and even feathers of another bird. It is obviously made by a great leather craftsmen and probably shows some evidence of tribal recognition, though those not knowledgable in such subjects can only guess at this. Detect magic reveals it is magical.
She has implied she comes from the Southern Continental Shelf and has apparently been in contact with the humans there for quite some time. These humans are apparently tribal in nature and it influences her way of thinking.
She also is aware of the Drow and has made comments about them raiding the human tribes for several decades.
She is apparently able to communicate with others using the Tongues spell or ability. This Tongues ability tends to remove any apparent accent or linguistic problems giving her a much more elogant way of speaking than one would think. How she does this is not apparent at this time.
She has given indication she can see magical auras, and see in the dark. She apparently also has the ability to see into the ethereal plane. Also she has suggested she can understand the magical properties of items.
She has 'whisled up a wind' (per gust of wind) and has shown other evidence being quite capable at performance skills.
For a yet unrevealed reason, there are 3 skeletons she has taken over and uses as both her servants and performe routines.
