I flaunt my imaginary pet flamingo in it's true pink color to test you. It has magical power to confuse and anger. Squack Squack it says. I'm bad at arguing so often I'll just look at my flamingo and know he's the best. I'm not even going to look at your flamingo, mine's better! That's why I didn't read carefully your flamingo posts, I'm stomping in now cuz I got the jist. Squack!

I apologize for having a poor understanding of emotions. More specifically, knowing when they are present in an exchange of interpretations. I appreciate a neutral observer who knows when to intercede, and when not to.

Yarr, I'm up for a friendly discussion if you wish. We had/have a bitcoin discussion in off-topic, resurrect and roll your intimidate :)

On some plot of land I own. On November 2nd (day of the dead). It would be cool if there is some family about, and some stargazing available.

Just stumbled upon some Buddhist youtube sermons on the 4 nobel truths. The lecture by Dr miles neale I thought was good.

I bought a Tiffany (1987 "I think We're Alone Now") record for 30 cents this weekend. While listening to it I read the wikipedia entry. Turns out she posed for playboy. My memory has just been sold, angel is a centerfold.

Micro$oft script fix Apparently the error occurs on other computers on the network I am on. I am assuming that the error is due to the security settings that I don't have control over. Could that be your problem?

In the settings of internet explorer (only option currently) there is the option of displaying the errors that are incurred as the web site is accessed. Currently I'm most concerned about the 3rd error when trying to access the prd rules. The result is all of the links on the left side disappear. The error seems to be related to javascript (normal culprit in my experience). Try posting the errors that occur in chrome and maybe we can help. I currently don't know how to fix my error, but it's fun trying.

First, Kahn Zordlon, where were you able to add three hours to the day? And how can I do it?

Second, way to throw me back to being nine years old with the bowling bit. Everything I know about bowling I learned after Saturday morning cartoons. Hmm, now I have an odd idea for a t-shirt...

Something like the dude from the big lebowski with text over the picture saying "Cartoons are over, let's bowl". It would probably get a few points on imgur.

As for the 27/7, meh, the 3 extra hours seem to occur when you are at work. They usually happen after lunch and after all of your bookmarks have been visited.

Yes the end of an era. Eclypsed by 27/7 cartoon networks where you don't need to be worried about waking up in time. Where we don't have to dread the last cartoon ending, then bowling coming on. Where the commercials on the cartoon network are about different cartoons (and one about kid through adult sized footed pajamas). It is the end of an era, a routine of saturday morning cartoons. It has been replaced with the loafing middle-ager who sleeps in on saturdays and watches cartoons mid-day. The era has grown up, as we have, and we couldn't be prouder.

Hi nissus,
I don't know about spell sages however and alchemist can cast personal spells using the Enfusion discovery. You would still have to drink the Enfusion. Gl and hf.

Man, I didn't know that question would be so computationally long. If there is an intuitive answer I missed it again.

Spoiler:

x= 1/6, y = 5/6 ,%b = (6 choose b)

%1*x*y^5+%2*x^2*y^4+%3*x^3*y^3+%4*x^4*y^2+%5*x^5*y+%6*x^6

it's really the chance of success (x)times the possiblility of failure (y) times the number of possible ways it could happen, added up. A general formula would be pretty ugly i think.

Seshomaru sizes up a group of goblins. There are 6 of them and they each have 6 hit points. If his fireball deals 1d6 and he decides to roll individually for each goblin (much to the shagrin of the table), what is the chance that he brings at least 1 to 0 or less hitpoints?
Easier with numbers, but if you want to formula it for n, that'd be cool.

You'all make me smile. I think i mucked up my reasoning by learning so much. I get the same answer, 5. I did the reasoning more formally and came up with the formula: d*(d+1)/[2*(d-1)] - 1/(d-1). I used mostly numeric reasoning before going to just variable reasoning. Since theJeff got the answer, it'd be cool if you posted a problem. I completely missed the intuitive dropping the 1 in the problem.

read article and first few posts then skipped to end. That said, I also find using numbers for variables when trying to solve or analyze something makes things a little more intuitive for me. Making the leap to just using variables and proving a therem, or general formula is much more difficult (for me).

Anyone who wants a fun math problem for dnd to solve: Korgan the cleric has the ability to reroll 1's when he heals your broken self. If he takes average on a d8, what would it be? What would the general formula look like? I had to use series to figure it out.

The current campaign I'm in has 3 dexed based characters. A rogue, a monk, and an alchemist. The rogue is great at picking locks and disabling traps, the monk has many attacks and good to-hit, and the alchemist uses natural weapons and has pretty good to hit. I think you're on the right path with monk. Doesn't wear armor, evasion, high sense motive. You can get an amulet of agile that would add dex to damage for 5k (iirc). I'd look into Arachnofiend's suggestion which seems to be a faster path to awesomeness, or just go with something interesting for first level, then make leveling-up class decisions as you go.

I listen to nightmares on wax fairly often, that may be ok. It's somewhat instramental electronica.

paraphrasing from chevy chase in caddyshack,"School isn't for everyone, we need people to dig ditches."

Sipping jacket + greater invisibility potion from summoner's spell list = swift action greater invisibility a round at a time & eviscerated enemies.

I was thinking about bringing bacon over to my dnd session. I would cook the strips up, roll them up, and put a toothpick in them. Maybe I'll cut them in half.

I am not sure i understand this comment, did i do something wrong? i am posting with an account, not as an anonymous user...?

I am the anon internet user. You've done nothing wrong at all.

That said, in the current campaign i'm in we have a summoner who's playing the synthesis archtype. It is a very strong character, and I believe that there are other options to have the summoned creature all day, and still have spell list (though i'm not very familiar with it).

Grain of salt for the anon internet user.

Anyways, I played an Eldrich Knight archer in the last campaign I was in. I started off as a transmuter wizard with the bonded item. From there I used transmutations to buff myself and use a longbow (was elf). He was pretty fun to play, did alot of damage and had high AC (when his spells were up). You could modify to have some summoning ability for your meatshield. GL HF!

I'm curious how the sound drops will work as my character acts. Hopefully next week will be the first session that I'm able to test it out.

also expensive for 1st level characters. It was awesome to loot crossbows at early levels for treasure. If you plan on using acid flasks for each acid splash, you're also well off at early levels. I'd use acid splash and pick up a crossbow when one is available as loot. (Probably a light crossbow as well, not heavy). Have fun and stay away from shadows!

Hi. I started recording sounds that could apply to my character in a dnd session. I've gotten most of them out of youtube, but was wondering if anyone else has a favorite source for dnd sounds. My method is to rip into audacity then export to mp3, then import to itunes, then export to ipod.

I didn't know it was pronounced irl. Who comes and talks to the SQL programmer? If they do do they actually mention the language? Maybe if they turn e-mail into sound, then we'll know.

I would like to add to thread, just because of title. Unfortunately I'm a land-lubber, who just likes to run his mouth. Good luck, learn a pirate song you may sing upon victory or around a campfire.

My feelings are hurt by this. The variety of his act, from standup to gwh and gmv, gave me the impression that he had experience with absolute euphoria as well as hopeless despair. I am grateful he could harvest that intensity and portray it through his acting.

Spoiler:
I also feel a little better having posted.

I reread thead, I've resurrected this thread more than my strength dumped thief on the shadow plane.
I recently had a discussion with a precious metals dealer and asked him about bitcoin. He said it was a derivative. Earlier in the thread there was discussion about exchange values from tulips to Zimbabwe and back. Anyone that posts a bitcoin address in this thread may get a small btc gift.

*casts raise dead*

Some really interesting posts in this thread, I think it has a few more levels to go before retiring.

I've been reading about this in local papers too. Enough to bump thread, but not to say anything meaningful. Well, I guess i could say that the other grocery store employees in the area are noticing a big pickup in business.

Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, “Don’t do it!”

He said, “Nobody loves me.”

I said "Nobody but your mom, pissant"

He said, "You're right, and called his mom."

crutons.

I believe that when selecting a brew, ipa's are good for level 3 of needing to forget. Standard ales are good for level 2, and level 1 of just getting a light buzz is, well, light beer. Advanced levels above 3 call for imperial ales and the like, but more often one just needs to get their crit together.

I am entitled to feel down about my first world problems, to mope about and garner sympathy. Oh, the office is too cold in the summer. Oh, it seems like they are mowing the lawns all the time at the apartments. Oh poor me. I am a selfish, somewhat lazy, product of zorg from orion.

Hi,
Off the top of my head, I would add their bluff/slight of hand modifier to their profession check to come up with what is earned per week. I would make a separate roll bluff/sense motive or slight of hand/perception check to see if they are caught. In addition if the players are dedicated to cheating, i would give the people who are cheated often a bonus on their roll.

I just brainstormed some names for a group in The council of thieves. After last session ended off on," we should get a name for our group". Reading this thread, there are many good names here that made me chuckle.
209. The Mighty Righteous
210. The Might-be religeous
211. The pancake patrons
212. The Griggsternauts. (our thief)

Alot, ooh i'm demorlized by your insult. You have the originality of carlos mencia.

Hi,
This is sort of a duel character, so there should be two selections (master chymsit). The "normal" character is chaotic good and obsequious. He looks out for the party and is helpful however he can be. He loves to be of service and would gladly sacrifice all but his life for the good of a companion.
The other character is Lawful neutral and loves to insult both his party and the mobs. The greatest thrill he gets is having someone attack him in full rage from his taunts. I know this might not go exactly along alignment lines, but that's how I want to play him. If you have a list of gods and their descriptions, that would be just as helpful. I can't seem to find one.

Hi,
The gaming group I belong to consists of 7 players and a DM. It happens occasionally where two or more people can't make it to the session and the adventure is delayed until next week. I've been mulling a solution to the problem and wanted to hash it out a bit before I present to the group. (You guys are usually pretty helpful)
So my idea is to have 5 core characters that are used by the people who show up, and two npc's that can be developed prior to the session, or could be one of our previous campaign's characters (we have plenty of them). That way whomever shows up to session first could select the character they wish to play and so forth, solong as we have 5 people we should be good to go. If we have more, the npc could be worked into the story.
I believe it would be fun to play previous campaign's characters occasionally. Also, I would rather play than not and this offers a solution to the problem of coordinating 7 people for a gaming session.
So, has anyone tried something like this with a larger group? Do you have any suggestions on how to make it work?

I'm reading Console Wars. It's about the Sega/Nintendo development/ competition in the 16-bit and 8-bit realm. Overall it's interesting as I grew up playing on their consoles. I've learned quite a bit about liscensing fees that developers have to pay to develop for dedicated gaming rigs. It also has perspective on each of the company's management.

There has been a few threads on depression, anxiety, and whatnot. In those threads many (including myself) have suggested meditation. This is a thread to place mindful statements. Let go of your ego and write something that is present-minded. This should be more of a positive break in the stream of thought that causes you to surf in otd in the first place. I know I'll need this thread as a lifeline at work.

We had a dervish dancer in a 3.5-pathfinder
hybrid game who was allowed to use a whip chain, or urime(sp). One in each hand, with reach. Based on what happened, I suggest that if you allow it, give the other players in the group a chance to "massage" a rule they want to change.
