About Kael

Kael Shornin

Kael, after a few months training, went on his first hunting trip with his master. His time cleaning and repairing weapons for the tribe did little to prepare him for the events that came to pass. His talent for being quiet and sneaky was recognized by his master. Kael was training to be a scout. During his first mission the hunting party was maybe too relaxed thinking their prey was going to be an easy target. The dark fey should never be taken lighly. The trail led to the surface world. Kael kept his thoughts of returning to the tribe to himself. The ambush went so quickly, Kael was critically wounded and renedered unconscious. Monsters, that he later discovered were wights, shadows, and skeletons, quickly dispatched the hunting party.
Barely alive, Kael was discovered by a woodsman. The woodsman did what he could to stabilized the gnome but returning him to consciousness was beyond his skills. The woodsman brought him to Forinar, a priest of Grundinnar, who was able to care for Kael and bring him back to full health.
Kael stayed with brother Forinar for a few months until fully recovered. Together they tried to find the way back to Kael home but were not successful. Forinar spoke with Kael and he agreed to stay at the temple. Kael helped out with the other acolytes and their duties around the temple. He applied for Canorate citizenship with the sponsorship of brother Forinar. Now 2 years later Kael is a citizen.
The battle, and the strange magics that occurred, had changed Kael, his skin was now a light grey, his eyes darker, his hair streaked with black, and a fondness for the shadows had grown in him. He also found that he was now able to move objects with a thought or heal with a touch. He has worked with brother Forinar to understand what he can do and master his new abilites.
The only keepsake he has of his tribe is his master's hook hammer.

At first glance:

Kael appears to be an gnome, arounf three and a half feet tall, with unusual coloring. His skin is light grey, his eyes a deep brown, and dark brown hair streaked with black, it is a wild and uncontrolled head of hair. Around town he is dressed like any other citizen but his sleeves are long to the point that his finger tips barely show and his collar high. He has a holy symbol of Grundinnar, a hammer, hanging around his neck.

With a careful look:

Kael is polite but not very outgoing. He will smile at an overheard joke but not laugh out loud. Everything around him is something to see, if the candle or torch light hits his eyes at the right angle they give off a blue-silver reflection.

He wears no armor and you hear no clinking when he walks by. He walks and moves in a smooth gait and sometimes he isn't noticed until he is standing next to you.

He prefers brandy and wine over beer, sticky buns over bread, and potatoes over peas, though corn is always a favorite.

He is a good worker and loyal to his friends. He sees brother Forinar and a friend and master.
