Well, who's he? There's some who call him.... Tim!

But of course that cane's a dead giveaway. He's a diviner/healer with a superb talent for finding out what ailment someone has - and then curing it with the same healing spell every time.

He's Tim House, of course!

Didn't I write that? My post seems to have disappeared.

Actually, we know what folks THINK some of the Golarion gods look like. I have to lean in same direction as Arcesilaus. First of all, people imagine the gods to look a lot like themselves, and even if a god manifests him/herself on Golarion, who says he/she takes a consistent form? Tying a very, VERY old and very, VERY powerful being to the physical form of one of the (relatively) newer creatures on continent of one planet in the multiverse.

Or they go Volon on everyone and condition the races, over centuries, to see them each in an unique way. That means if Gorum manifests to a mixed group of humanoids, the dwarf will actually see a stocky, bearded fellow with heavy armour and a heavy, rune-adorned flamberge, but the elf will see a tall, slender elf with warpaint, light armour, a bow on his back, and a long, slender courtblade.

You must meet my friend Martin. He's got favoured enemy (Wayne Reynolds).

I just want to chime in and say that I'd totally buy and read Pathfinder Fiction, be it full-blown novels, an anthology of short stories, some entries in Pathfinder, whatever.

Oooh, Goblin Dog!

That Valeros is either a very happy or very frustrated adventurer (probably the latter).

I tend to agree. If he does behave like he says, he starts with the hard drinking.

Now, if you're drunk and start hitting on girls, what girl do you want?

The one who can turn you into charcoal with a word and a gesture? (Burn your fingers? Yes, among other body parts)
The one with sharp knives and an intricate knowledge of where to put them so they hurt most?
Or the one who can augment her own wrath with that of her goddess?

The thing about adventuring with adventuresses is that if you misbehave, a slap to the face or a knee to the groin isn't nearly the worst that can happen to you. I guess those adventurers in mixed parties who survive to 2nd level either know how to behave or learn to and are happy to survive.

Will there be a PDF Version?
(I must say that the PDF versions of Pathfinder are very useful and a huge plus.)

Will there be a Pathfinder Chronicles subscription (with free PDF Versions as usual for your subscriptions)?

Can the shipping for Pathfinder and the Pathfinder Chronicles products/subscription be combined?
(Especially since we're talking international shipping in my case)

Would buy.

And will buy the Gazetteer, which I decided to long before I heard about the globe.

The 12th iconic will not be psionic.

Not sure how/whether to incorporate psinics into Pathfinder yet?

Oh, since you were, originally, somewhere in this thread, talking about the iconics:

I do think that the 12th could be some psionic iconic. Psiconic?

He/she could be an iconic Minkai expatriate. Maybe Minkai isn't too keen on magic, it being only used by blood witches in their foul blood magic. Instead, they channel the power of the mind, with ki and psionics. A psychic warrior with the traditional weapons of Minkai noble warrior (doesn't have to be the katana/wakizashi combination, either)

Can you call the iconic gnome gninja Sai Lenn Gee?

I'd buy prepainted plastic ones in a heartbeat.

I'd also get the metal ones, I think, especially if they're the only option.

And I second any mention, if any, of trying to chat up Reaper for some partnership (and if not, I'll first it).

How do you get an avatar? I just created my profile and there is no spot for avatar pictures, yet there are members here who have avatars.

It's in "My Account" (top of the page) under "Messageboard Settings"

Or follow this link

Does anyone know of somewhere I can get the maps for various encounter locations in Pathfinder in a format I can print large enough to play on?

You could try using the pictures in the PDFs. You can copy out the pictures. They're in pieces, but with some half-decent picture editing programme you can put them together easily, and increase the size enough to print them out. You could try with a small part of a map and see if it works.

There's a couple of picture editing programmes out there that are free. Try the GIMP from www.gimp.org.

I actually would NOT want to see novels on the Pathfinder Adventure Path. As much as I love Forgotten Realms, the plethora of books has to me an adverse effect on playing in the campaign setting. It feels weird to design against the knowledge the books lend to the campaign world. So I can do without Pathfinder novels, although short stories would be nice.

The novels wouldn't have to be tied to the adventure paths. They would not have to play on the same continent or in the same millenium. They would not have to be considered canon. They could use some of the events in GameMastery modules or Pathfinder Adventure Paths, but not set them in stone, and never claim to.

Novelising some of the Pathfinder Chronicles entries would work as a entertaining-to-read history lesson.

Mike McArtor wrote:

We would LOVE to have prepainted plastic minis of our stuff, but it's not going to happen. We MIGHT get some unpainted metal minis, but I can't say for sure.

As I said, I was just kidding - well, half-kidding: I'd love to see plastic Pathfinder Goblins, but I know that it probably isn't feasible, with plastic figures having very high fixed costs and being viable only if you can see in large numbers.

Mike McArtor wrote:

Novels might happen if several happy events occur in conjunction. Right now, who knows? It's extremely doubtful that we'll ever print the entirety of Pathfinder Chronicles Volume 1, since that would limit our creativity and what we can attribute to it.

I guess you're right. But how large are those pathfinder volumes? Are they all hundreds of pages, or are there maybe shorter volumes? The mix of novel and story book might work.

Robert Miller 55 wrote:
They aren't exactly what your suggesting, but have you looked at the catalogue for upcoming Pathfinder support products?

Yes, and I'm pretty much sold on all of them.

Robert Miller 55 wrote:

Some of your second idea are addressed in that, even though I haven't seen anythiing along the lines of a novel, but its been a few weeks since I last looked.

I know, it's a bit early for novels I guess.

Devin Swift wrote:
From what Ive read in the new FR book, Grand History of the Realms, most of the changes in the setting seem to be streamlining. Take for example the drow gods. Vhaeraun is now dead, along with Kiaransalee(sp) and, umm, the protector/son of the Spider Queen whose name I don't remember. I think that leaves the Spider Queen, Eilistraee, and Ghauanadaur. A supreme evil drow deity, a lesser good drow god, and an alternate evil drow god. It makes things alot simpler and easier to keep track of.

If I want something that is very simple to keep track of, I just use no campaign setting at all, and stick to the PHB pantheon with one deity for elves and one for nature and one for stealing things.

But I don't want that. I don't need that. I actually want every race to have its own pantheon.

They're streamlining the Realms allright. They streamline it right out of my field of interest. It becomes just another setting just like a thousand others. Combined with the other changes they do, it just can't compete any more.

Devin Swift wrote:
It is also simplistic if you look at real history, and therefore a little less interesting IMO. One of the things I like about FR and Greyhawk (as well as real history) is that things aren't so simple.

Exactly. It's not as if we were a bunch of morons who can't think without moving our lips or lose the ability to read if someone ties our fingers.

Sorry if this is not the right place.

Anyway, I have an idea or two about some products. Feel free to call me an idiot for even suggesting those:

Prepainted plastic miniatures of the NPCs, Iconics, monsters from the bestiary, and anything based on the artwork. Okay, just kidding on that one (it would be great, but I don't think that the product would be viable. But maybe metal ones?)

But what about Pathfinder Chronicles Volume One. As in, the actual (as far as you can call a fictional book from a fictional world "actual") book as the first heroes from the Pathfinder Society wrote, with all the stories, dossiers, information. It could be a novel, or a mixed novel/setting book, or something.

Norah's a hagfish. Which is a real-world HORRIFIC DISGUSTING NASTY fish that turns water into slime. If you're feeling particularly evil, and have a computer handy... you might want to show the PCs the following video after they drink from her tank just so they can see what it is that they've put inside themselves:

What hagfish slime does to water!

When I read about the attic whisperer, or how that goblin eats off that kid's father's face, I thought you guys were quite evil. But make someone drink THAT? Do you share a circle of Hell or do you all have your own? :D

James Jacobs wrote:

How often would a town of 1200 see someone willing to try to drink hagfish slime?
I suspect all of the locals know what that stuff is, and none of them would try it because they know better. It's more of a joke that they play on visitors, really; I suspect most of the names carved up there are people from elsewhere thinking that drinking hagfish slime will get them respect of the locals, when really, it just marks them as one of those freaks who drank hagfish slime.

A time honoured tradition, way up there with serving disgusting animal parts as a "local delicacy" and see who eats it. I like Sandpoint more and more!

Erik Mona wrote:

Our new world is large enough to handle several styles of play, including this one.

There's really no reason to force everyone into playing the same campaign. Every DM has different tastes, and a good campaign setting allows him to find something that speaks to him and to his play style.

The Pathfinder Chronicles campaign setting is all about options, not about dictating a single way to play D&D.

--Erik

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I've adopted the Pathfinder Chronicles as my new "home" campaign setting after I recently lost all interest in the Forgotten Realms.

Coming from the other angle: If I enter the subscription late, is there an option to get the older editions too (and get the PDF thrown in), or can you only start on the last or next one?

Hey, it's no big deal. It wasn't anything annoying like showing a picture of a construct and calling it human or printing the maps mirror-inverted or mislabeling different sub-races or stuff like that.

But thanks for the quick reply!

That suggestion has been made in the office by multiple people with multiple degrees of seriousness.

I knew it. It's true what they say: Dirty Minds Think Alike! Or something like that.

Was there a mix-up with the maps? The big map on page 62 and the map on page 64 (the one with the Shadow) show a scale thingy with 640 feet, but they seem to be different scales: On page 62, the irespan measures something like 300 feet of width, but two pages down the road, it's more than twice as wide.

Am I overlooking something or is that a small mix-up. And if so: What scale is right?

My Voice to the Chorus! Those are very good! Keep up the good work, and give us a regular fix of those!

By the way: I love the part about elven "Fremen" eyes.

I think I'll let Paizo lead and follow them:

If they decide to pick up 4e, I'll pick up 4e. Maybe the FR books, too, because I like the FR.

If they decide to stick to 3.5, I won't bother with 4e, either.

Sandpoint => Sandfleck, is not very fitting in German as a name for a village. Sandbühl (oder gar Sandebühl) refers to a hill (which may not be applicable here), but sounds better in German (Sandfleck +ch = Schandfleck... who wants to name their village like that?).

You could simply go with Sandweiler, Sandorf, or Sandig / Sandisch (We have both a Bergweiler and a Berschweiler here, within 10km of each other)

I don't know whether something like this is already in the making, but I think that the concept of WIzards of the Sins should be expanded upon:

Personally, I never considered a specialist to be a great choice, and with the prohibited schools being pre-set, I think specialist wiazrds adhering to the Seven Sins should get some boost, either with a Prestige Class or with an alternate class feature.

Something like this:

Wizard of Sin
Select one of the Seven Sins. You gain the two listed schools as banned schools, like a regular specialist wizard (except that you can't choose any two).

Benefit:
I'm not entirely sure about this. It could be something relatively small, in addition to the standard advantages a specialist wizard gets, or something bigger instead of said advantages.

Maybe Wrath wizards get to add their Cha as damage to all spells; Illusionists gain a bonus to their spell DCs if they catch the enemy unaware, and so on.

Also, since there were once 7 Virtues or Rule, it would be nice to be able to play a Mage of Virtue, similar to the Wizard of Sin (but maybe with different benefits)

Eager Striving:
Focused on making the best effort, and keeping others from destroying what you built up
Specialty: abjuration
Prohibited Schools: evocation and necromancy

Well Deserved Rest:
Focused on calling aid to continue your work even if you yourself rest
Specialty: conjuration
Prohibited Schools: evocation and illusion

Fertility:
Focused on furthering friendship and love between all beings to guarantee plentiful offspring
Specialty: enchantment
Prohibited Schools: necromancy and transmutation

Righteous Anger:
Focused on smiting those who wronged you or others.
Specialty: evocation
Prohibited Schools: abjuration and conjuration

Honest Pride:
Focused on improving appearances to highlight your advantages
Specialty: illusion
Prohibited Schools: transmutation and conjuration

Abundance:
Focused on manipulating the physical body, the better to keep providing your labour for the good of all
Specialty: necromancy
Prohibited Schools: enchantment and abjuration

Wealth:
Focused on transforming things into objects of greater value to fight powerty and hunger.
Specialty: transmutation
Prohibited Schools: enchantment and illusion

(Yes, some of those sure need some work)

Which issues of Dragon had Tiles for the DDM game in it, or other stuff usable for the game? I know of the Dragon's Hoard map in #322, but what else is there?
