If only I had the money to move I'd love to work in the Paizo slave pits (aka warehouse). I'm sure I'd love the weather better there than in Arkansas. And a steady job would be a nice thing too.

Pity. I don't know if I want to shell out money for books that are half-useless for me (i.e. filled with 4e stuff).

You must remember, they don't have the info needed to either stick with 3.x (please, please, please, please stick with it) or go with 4.0.1 (may the vilest thoughts of The Logue's mind become real and rampage across the earth if they go with it). All long as only about 1/4 of the content is edition specific I'll be at least continuing the Companion Sub.

I think there should actually be a poll somewhere to get at least some idea of what most of the fans want Paizo to do.

Shouldn't it be, "All your money are belong to Paizo."

I'm sorry if this has been covered. Will the Pathfinder Companions be mainly edition neutral? If so, I'll still continue my companion subscription even if the APs and Modules go 4th. I really enjoy the setting and so does my group from everything I've heard so far.

Greetings All,

(This will be much briefer than my original post which got eaten by the boards, with neither pity nor mercy....sigh ;P )

As in my Savage Tide AP before this, I am running Rise of the Runelords as a Gestalt campaign. While most of the major NPCs throughout the AP will be fairly easy and straightforward to modify, I think I need some help with Karzoug.

James Jacobs said in the Foreword to PF#6 that he really wanted to keep Karzoug "just a human", and I want to stay true to that intention if I can. While I don't think that slapping bunches of templates on The Claimer would feel 'right', I don't think that just randomly slapping on fighter or rogue levels would either.

Since I received so much good help and counsel on my revision of Rowyn Kellani in Savage Tide, I once again come before you to ask for your assistance. How would you revise Karzoug to be a Gestalted BBEG for the end of Rise of the Runelords? Here are my initial thoughts:

I can't think of any templates offhand that would work with Karzoug's image of being a simple human who, through drive and ambition, turned himself into what he is now, just like the PCs who will face off with him in Xin-Shalast. I think a combination of classes, prestige classes and racial paragon class would be best, but I could be wrong, which is why I am willing to look at any idea, from any source out there.

Sticking to the classes I mentioned, I would probably give one side a full 20 level Transmuter progression, and have a full 5 levels of Archmage and 3 levels of Paragon Human on the other to start. This is not set in stone for me, but seems to make sense for the character of Karzoug as of right now.

I know there are a few others who are running RotRL as gestalt, so hopefully this will help them as well. I plan on posting what I can of my final revision of Karzoug here (without violating copyright of course) for any to use or modify as they need.

As always, I would love to hear the thoughts of the Paizo staff and the AP authors, if they...

Might I recommend a combination of Fighter and Rogue. Keep it simple while increasing K's survivability. Just my suggestion and what I'll be doing in my campaign.

Free books would make me TRY 4.0.1.

Anything else is just a waste of my time and money. Like many others, I have several thousands of dollars invested in 3.x resources.

Of course, I will be downloading the 4.0.1 SRD just because I can.

How do the Varisian peoples deal with conflicts within their own clans?

They are known for their dancing, so could capoeira would actually make a lot of sense.

If there is nothing official about this yet (published or not) I plan on integrating this into my RotR game.

I find myself to be a grognard now as well. While I have only ever played 3.x I am certain I will still be playing 3.x in 10 years. Now this all depends on if 4E does suck as much as I feel it is going to. We could all be surprised. Just saying......and hoping.......

Any chance more XL will be made?

Cheliax (Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

Nope, I believe those are the infamous rune giants we've all been hearing about.

Cheliax (Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

Actually, the article in Pathfinder 3 gives me all the info I need for now.

I look forward to number 10.

Thanks.

Has there been a discussion yet about which of the Shoanti tribes frequent the Velashu Uplands? It's important for a PC I'm working on.

She's a half-elf of Shoanti blood, has taken on the role of a future spiritual leader, but is now out to see the world for greater understanding (think vision quest).

Also, for future reference, what are the standard travel patterns of the Shoanti tribes?

When I was working at WotC with the web team several years ago, one of my responsibilities was to have books sent out to writers for the team so that they'd have the rulebooks they needed to write about what we wanted them to write about.

One time, one of my authors recieved one of the new D&D hardcover books (I believe it was somethng like Serpent Kingdoms) folded into a roughly "V" shape so that it'd fit into some mailbox.

Not all postal workers are created equal, it would seem...

OMFG!! I work for the USPS and would never dream of doing something like that what anyones mail! When and where was this? I'll talk to my supervisor to see if anything can be done.

Luckily, I have a PO Box big enough to hold 3-6 hardcover books, depending on pagecount.

*shakes head while thinking of V shaped book*

Exactly!

I let my players convince themselves to finish the ritual releasing the Apostle of Kyuss during the Champions Belt. Only 1 actual party death, but it ended my campaign :(

I know you have it figured out already (probably), but I would think it to be an awesome thing to have the Barbarian be either a Kobold, or a Goblin. Obviously they would be the most effective member of the party, becuase the things they killed wouldn't realize how dangerous they actually are until it's to late.

Just like the surprisingly intelligent half-orc wizard and charismatic dwarven sorcerer.

But seriously, Kobold Barbarian. Really.

Optional evilness is good, but there could just be a BIG book like the SCAP compilation. It would of course take some time to establish the world some. Maybe part way into the 2nd or 3rd Pathfinder AP?

I'd be willing to help once I get a feel for the world.

Will those of us who've already paid for all the currently listed GM mods get some sort of discount?

Cheliax (Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

Many issues have been great to me. But, one in particular has influenced many of my characters and my entire homebrew setting. All because of a single item in issue 291. The bracers of wands. I don't know what others think of them, but I find them awesome. I had a dwarven clr/pal/wiz (wierd, but very effective with the build I had) who made his adamantine gauntlets into them. When the wands had no charges left the gauntlets could shot them out like a crossbow bolt.

If/when I think of other issues I'll post them, but this one is the first to pop into my mind, other than the hottie halfling on the cover of 285.

Cheliax (Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

Excellent, thank you!

Cheliax (Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

I've looked, and probably just overlooked it. Will I still receive the remaining issues of both Dragon and Dungeon magazines if I make use of the Transition page to subscribe to Pathfinder?

Cheliax (Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

In the Champions Belt, I got my party to finish the ritual. :)
To bad they couldn't stop the Apostle before it ate a bodyguard.

Cheliax (Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

Way back in the very first adventure (The Whispering Cairn) I killed the entire party with Filge alone.

No death's since then until the last session (The Champion's Belt). We had 3. Froghemoth killed the half-orc frenzied berserker. Slay living door trap killed the tibbit rogue (but she had a contingent spell cast on her and is now in the body of a female orog). Finally, the Apostle of Kyuss killed the drow weretiger duskblade. The only party memember to survive was the avariel favored soul.

And, 50,000 people died when the ritual was completed. So much for Waterdeep. :)
