Wow, that's wonderful praise Hurin (Darren) thanks so much. And yes, I heartily agree, this has easily been one of the best, most compelling and most enjoyable PbP games I've ever been privileged at be a part of. I'd love for it to be made into a book. In fact, I've had this idea for a while now of Paizo holding a huge PbP contest/vote. Over a certain period of time, we Pathfinderarians would get to vote to submit which online PbP campaigns have been the best. Then everyone gets to vote on the top finishers. Something like that. Then the winners get their game made into a book (edited from the actual game thread itself.) And of course GM and all the players involved get to share in the proceeds. But, I'm not quite ready to bring the idea to Paizo just yet though, so Shhhhhh! ; ) EDIT: Oh, also a corollary to this would be a vote for the fav PCs, and the winners could have their PC's professionally drawn and stated, maybe even featured in a comic, novel or module (or whatever fancy name they call modules nowadays)

Out of the shadows steps a figure wreathed in wisps of trailing darkness. He observes the victorious army as they depart, his expression inscrutable. After some time he nods to himself, whispers to the departing figures "We shall meet again..." and slips back into the shadows, silent as the night that birthed him. Is there a way to save/archive these threads on our home computer or whatever? Because if so, there is most definitely a ton a phenomenal writing in DRA's games that I'd love to save for posterity.

I will Not just post some nonsense post that has no direct bearing on the story or that is just words upon words upon words upon words simply for the effect of filling up a few lines and making it clear I don't really have anything to say here. I mean, really, the very nerve, thinking I would do something like that! Some people!

Hey all, cool to see everyone still checking in here. A clear indication of how much we all love(d) this game and wish it to continue. @Gray: So really? You're (or one of your) live groups has been playing the Same PC's for Years now?? Like from level one up to...whatever you are now? And, assuming they've reached Epic or whatever level, they're ready to retire? That is SUPER cool! And, I completely understand, sad at the same time. I'd love to hear what happens, and as well as what all Has happened, to whatever degree of briefness or expansiveness you may feel inclined to write. But ya, super awesome for you to have that opportunity. I have a couple PbP games now here on PF I've got to experience that with, and it is pretty sweet, but not the same as what you'd experience from a live group.

I see all our characters standing in the Ice Queen's lair, fidgeting, and like many computer games do when there's no action for a while, every once in a while one of them pops up with a "I've got better things to do than just stand here all day you know!" or a "Hey, there's an Ice Queen to kill! Let's get moving!" or the like. ; )

Glancing back to see if the others are coming as yet, Jorzan decides to press on, the better to scout out the possible dangers ahead. Zan, finished with his search, begins flying to catch up with his master. If stealth's are needed again, feel free to roll 'em

Lingering for one last glare towards where Kelne and the others are, Jorzan grunts and moves to explore the tunnel around the corner, where the guards and prisoner came from. While doing this, he sends Zan to double check the two side rooms to make sure that they're clear. Jorzan stealth: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (16) + 24 = 40
Zan perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23

When the strange hooded being suddenly disappears only to reappear instantly several feet behind him, Jorzan swears and spins quickly to face the creature once again. When he hears the clank of the helm hitting the ground, he turns his head to look behind himself. Seeing the now obvious illusion of Nasmarra, he swears again, much more profusely and passionately this time. As Kelne moves off and the creature disappears once more, Jorzan then turns to regard Hurin as the Dwarf makes his suggestion. Not willing to waste poison on the guards though, Jorzan merely grunts and steps closer to the two writing in pain guards and knocks them out with the hilt of his sword. Glaring back towards the direction of the room the Mothermind is in, he growls "That witch!. We don't.have.time.for.this!" As he speaks, he takes a few seconds to decide whether he should head back to get her or if those of the party remaining should proceed down the corridor...

Seeing only the back of the creature, but observing the reactions of his companions and the guards to it, Jorzan and Zan glance at each other briefly. As a silent communication passes between them, they both then switch their attention to the former prisoner, ready to take it down should it prove hostile. They're remaining silent, if stealth rolls are needed, go ahead and roll them.

While Kelne speaks, Jorzan slips through the shadows, passing within inches of the oblivious guards, to move behind the west most guard. Zan, on the other side of the hall, moves through walls to arrive behind the other guard. Jorzan stealth: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (18) + 24 = 42
With Zan appearing beside him, using the tip of his keen shortsword the Shadowdancer taps the guard in front of him on the shoulder. Retaining his glare with Nasmarra for a few beats longer, Jorzan then turns his head towards the Paladine and, jaw still clenched in anger, nods his assent. With a last glance and silent thought sent to the Mothermind, he carefully puts the piece of Metallum, and the other chunks and rings he had taken out, into his haversack. Finished with the matter for now as far as he was concerned, Jorzan then moves through the shattered secret door and begins to scout down the hallway. Moving ahead of the party's light, his eyes instantly adapt to the darkness. His living shadow, as always, trails behind. Same rolls from before, if that's alright:
Silent message to the Mothermind, ONLY: " I am sorry. You put your trust in us, yet we, I, am unable at present to fully return that trust. You have heard all that has transpired here. Some of my companions wish to free you, others wish you dead. While I can understand their position, and the great fear your kind has instilled in them, I do not have the time to argue for your freedom. So, while we shall not kill you, we shall neither free you, at present. We are at war with many, powerful, enemies who seek the subjugation of all life in this Land. We have a big fight up ahead of us, and we must protect a very special little girl upon whom the hopes, and lives, of millions depend. I...I know well what it is to be prisoner, to be tortured, to be experimented on... I wish I could do more to help you at present, but I cannot. I will come back for you if I can. Otherwise, I hope you are able to free yourself. If you do, I can only pray that you do indeed convince your sister Motherminds to leave our land, for your presence here, and your hunger, dooms us all. If you do free yourself, and would like to help us, and gain some revenge against your enemies, well, I for one wouldn't turn down any aid we can get. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting out of here as quickly as you can. I must go. Farewell!"

'We don't have times for this...' Jorzan thinks, frustration and anger beginning to boil in him. His eyes then narrow as he looks upon the strange mind mage before him. Who was this woman? What were her true motivations here? What did she hide behind her cool, superior gaze? They knew almost nothing about her. In all her time with the group thus far, not even once had she made a gesture of friendship, taken down the wall of ice she constantly seemed to surround herself with. Cassandra had spoken for her, said she was necessary, but could the child have been wrong? No. No, he would not take himself down that road, for everything depended on the Seer and her gift. Still..."Yes, I suppose you would know what it is to have a mind so alien from all others." Jorzan states flatly, voice as hard as steel. "And you have made your position clear; you wish the creature dead, this we know. I also know, now, of the danger her kind has posed to our world, of the many futile struggles against the Metallum Alternum, yet has it ever occurred to you that perhaps the failure to drive them away was because no one had ever tried to speak to them before? We very well may just be the first to ever have such an oppourtunity. Should we just throw it away? She is but one Mothermind, killing her will do little to halt their incursion into our world. Yet to release her, to have her convince her 'sisters' to leave our world forever? I am willing to take the risk of freeing her for the chance at such a prize. However, I am willing to go with the decision of the group, here. Are you?" He turns to look at the Paladine "Justahl, do you sense evil in this creature? Can you at all tell if she speaks the truth?" Shadows begining to gather around him, he then takes one step closer to Nasmarra, as Zan floats in to flank her from behind. In a voice tight with fury and withheld violence, he growls "One more thing, witch, threaten me again at your peril. This is the last such warning you will get."

Jorzan nods along with Kelne's speech, for once agreeing with almost everything the Northern warrior says. With the majority in favour of releasing the Mothermind, Jorzan speaks decisively "Well then it's decided, we free her. Hurin, Justahl, help us, we could use your muscle. Unless one of you has a better idea, let's tip it over." Assuming the others lend their aid, Jorzan adds what strength he can to tipping over the 'flowerpot' containing the Metallum Hive Mind. Assuming they can tip it over?: Once finished, Jorzan stands, saying "You put your trust in us, now we put our in you. You're free to go. We have a big fight up ahead of us, and I for one wouldn't turn down any aid we can get. If you'd like to help us, and gain some revenge on your enemies, well, that's up to you. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting out of here as quickly as you can." And, finished with the matter for now as far as he was concerned, Jorzan moves through the shattered secret door and begins to scout down the hallway, moving ahead of the party's light, his eyes instantly adapting to the darkness. Hey y'all, after my hectic summer, I finally have some down time and so, loving DRA's games as much as I do, I've been checking them like, several times a day. There always seems to be something pertinent for Jorzan to post about, but if anyone feels like I've been a spotlight hog or whatever, please let me know, no hard feelings whatsoever. I can totally slow it down (I think) 8 ]

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31 Shaking his head slightly, still not quite used to this means of communication, Jorzan considers on what he has heard, on whether this Mothermind can be trusted, or believed. Looking down at the tentacle, he pushes it with his toe. If nothing untoward seems to happen, he bends down and attempts to pick it up. If he can, he stands with it to examine it closer (What rolls are needed?), allowing any of the others who wish to see or hold it do so. Finally, he turns to his companions "It seems to me, that 'she' just gave us the means to kill 'her', should that be what we choose. But, I think we have a much better oppourtunity here. Nasmarra, you know more of this creature and it's history in our Land than any of us, but have you ever heard of anyone communicating with a Mothermind before? We could kill it now, yes, if we even can kill it, yet from what I understand, she is but one of her kind. So, while killing this one may prevent her being used as a weapon by our enemies, we will very likely make greater enemies of her..um, 'sisters'. Yet, if what she says is true, if she swears to leave this plane forever, and convince the others of her kind to do the same, we may have the chance to do something that apparently not even the Gods were able to do; cleanse the Land of Metallum forever!" While his companions consider his words, Jorzan once again turns to the Mothermind saying aloud "Should we decide to free you, how would we do so? And what assurances can you give that you will keep your word and do as you say?" Then, suddenly remembering something, he reaches into his haversack and pulls out a small bag and two strange rings, all found some time ago on the tengu assassins. He compares them to the tentacle and then, holding them forth towards the mothermind he asks "Is this...is this you??"

Having been caught up on the latest, Jorzan adds his questions to Kelne's
I'm assuming one couldn't not approach close enough to the cage to touch it without also being in range of the MM's tentacles. Is this correct?

How big is the Mothermind, DRA, and/or it's cage? Is it something that could be carried by one or two people? Because Cassandra wants us to get into that corridor, "it keeps us warm", plus, the 'The Ice Commeth...', so, you know... Also, meant to ask this before, but I'm assuming everyone who didn't already have them grabbed some Boots of the Winterlands from all the extras lying around that the dead dudes didn't need anymore? (I guess that means Justahl, Astar and Jorzan-who def got his)

Swearing in frustration, Jorzan briefly considers several other possibilities, eventually deciding none of them are viable, he jumps down off the wall and hurries back in the other room. Zan trailing along behind. DRA, is there any way Jorzan could fit the cage of the Mothermind into his Haversack? If so, he does that. For now. And follows the others.

Ahhhh, I envisioned bars. Ok. Hmmmm... Is there any thing sitting out on the desks or what have you that looks like it could be read? Like if he sent Zan in to do it? Also, would Jorzan be aware if incorporeal beings would set off magical traps or not? And I'm assuming Jorzan doesn't see anyone/being/animate Thing in the room ?
