Male Human Magus 1

I have played a paladin before and was cool with it. I think part of it is the campaign doesn't seem to lend itself to divine characters as well at least to my mind. The only good hook I seen was the one pertaining to Erastil and it was about zealots that pretty much killed anyone that had a piece of tech on them. I don't think that would be very conducive to party unity :) The rest was focused pretty heavily on the world wound right next door.

Need to go to sleep maybe something will come to me tonight.

Male Human Magus 1

I am having trouble with getting a character concept that I can live with and fill the needs of the party. It seems that we will need a dedicated healer and I have been toying with a few ideas. Between all the classes I think I have finally decided on one of the following a Paladin (most likely a hospitlar), Cleric, Witch (Bonded Hedge Witch), or Inquisitor.
Does any body have feedback on any of the potential selections.

Male Human Magus 1

still trying to build a character.

Have fun everyone

That sounds like a pretty cool idea for a alternate Magus archetype.

One good thing about using a inquisitor as a test class for spell casting Grigory is that you have a limited repertoire of spell. I suggest looking over the guides to get an idea of the spells that would work well for the class.

Class Guides

Sorry for the delay took me awhile to settle on a character concept but I believe I am finally ready. I reskinned this old character. Meet the new Jonas El'Aden.

He considers himself a Hunter in the service of Pharasma. He will be using the birthmark trait combined with the False Focus feat from Inner Sea Magic to perform arcane magic using his birthmark giving him in most cases a flavorful eschew material components feat.

It does have the added benefit of replacing expensive material component up to the cost of the Divine Focus to a maximum of 100gp. I was hoping to use this in conjunction with alchemical power components from the adventures armory to perform a few unusual affects while carrying his holy symbol.

Thanks sounds like it could be fun. I will try to have a character concept up within the next day or so.
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 5) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 1) = 13 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 5) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 3) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 6) = 23 18
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 4) = 15 14

What books are open for use in the game? aside from the core book and I assume the APG since traits are in use. Sorry if it was already stated somewhere else but I didn't see anything on the initial post.

Male Human Magus 1

I figured on waiting to see if anyone else responded but it was 6 days before you put up a response and it has been 4 days since that so I am pretty confident in saying the game with these characters is pretty much through. It was a good game unfortunately keeping up with something like this is hard to do with juggling everything else in life so its understandable when it happens. My own life right now is getting rather hectic so I will be bowing out at this time. Hope to see everyone on the boards in the future.

Male Human Magus 1

I haven't seen movement on this board in over 2 weeks are we still playing or has everyone given up?

Male Human Magus 1

That room is freaky looking. Jonas notices Tug's casting. Is the room safe to enter or even worth taking a chance on?

Male Human Magus 1

Can we tell if the staircase goes up or down? Jonas moves past the blocked off stair case and joins Tug nodding his assent as he waits for him to open the door weapon at the ready in case of trouble..

Male Human Magus 1

Moved down the hall can I see anything in the room to the left.

Male Human Magus 1

Sounds good to me. If there are any stones left I will give them to Etohya.

Male Human Magus 1

just a moment I will see about picking up some rocks Jonas double times it back to the room with the cells and picks up several handfuls of rocks to use with his sling before rejoining the group and helping with the destruction of the evil undead.

once I get back I will untie the sling I have holding my pony tail together and give it to Ethoya and split the rocks I resourced with her while I use the obvious sling I wear at my belt

You can keep that if you want. It will give you another option in a fight.

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas takes his water skin and squeezes out the liquid to wash off any lingering traces of the vomit and cleaning the wounds it caused. As he does this he responds to Tugs statement. I usually prefer a lighter blade but if it is enchanted it may be useful for me to use in the short term.

Spying the undead at the bottom of the pit Jonas takes a involuntary step back covering up his unease by making a glib remark. Glad I didn't fall in they look hungry. we should feed them something I have my sling and I am sure there are plenty of usable stones in the room we just left..... I'm just saying.

I wouldn't mind using the long sword for now since I can enhance it to a +2 with my arcane pool but it maybe useful to have more then one person with a "magic" weapon

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas slashes at the monster with his rapier before stepping back
Rapier(R): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 121d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas slashes at the mutant Goblin with his rapier before stepping back and shooting a blast of cold at the creature. Full attack action first with a regular attack with the rapier 5 foot step back and attack with ray of frost.
Rapier(R): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Ray of Frost(T): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 1d3 ⇒ 3

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas moves past the weirdly mutated goblin slashing at the creature to keep it back as Jonas continues his movement carefully working from one solid stone square to another until he is situated at the opposite side of the creatures. move 30' once at the creatures back fight defensively upping my AC to 18 and strike at the creature
Rapier: 1d20 ⇒ 161d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Male Human Magus 1

It is no ordinary goblin be careful of the noxious slobber it spews

Male Human Magus 1

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

OWW! It pukes acid.

Male Human Magus 1

I will try to cut off its escape. Jonas moves just past the stairs and to the right preparing his daze spell in case the goblin moves closer to attack or attempts an escape. You can assume that the lights are moving with me at this point just to make it easier. I'll step into the room and move to the side to clear the stairs for Tug and allow me the opportunity to cut it off if it decides to escape through the other door. I will prep my Daze spell as a standard action after taking my move action to get in position. I will attempt to daze the creature at the most opportune moment such as within a 5 foot step of me or a companion or before reaching the other door if possible.

Male Human Magus 1

initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Male Human Magus 1

Most likely magic maybe they where twisting these peoples bodies and minds to become what we have been fighting down here. What ever the case once we are done searching we need to get these poor unfortunates a proper burial outside of this evil place. Jonas turns from the room and continues to the next door and down the corridor.

Male Human Magus 1

I will direct my light into the room following after Tug as we continue to explore.

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas gives Tug a grin as he responds to the dwarfs joke. Or the doors where keeping them all locked away so they would never be able to harm man or beast. Jonas appears pensive for a moment. Seriously though I wonder what has kept them here. I imagine the towns folk would be aware of them if they wondered the streets. Do you think magic has kept them bottled up under ground for as long as these ruins appear to be old or are these things part of the forces arrayed against the town?

Male Human Magus 1

Yes, We should continue exploring.

Male Human Magus 1

Looks like the this place has a pretty gruesome history. I wonder how much the towns people know about what is directly under their feet.

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas recasts his dancing light spell and begins to walk with the light to each of the cages lining the wall checking for anyone or anything unusual. Is Kirri doing ok?

Male Human Magus 1

I will coup de grace which ever one tug doesn't.

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas changes his fighting stance unexpectedly and lunges forward lashing out with sword and spell. His sword sinks deep into the beasts stomach it reflexively lurches forward opening it up to be hit by a blast of cold to the face from Jonas's other hand. I use a full attack action and cast defensively striking out with my rapier then use ray of frost
Cast defensively:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Rapier(R): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 211d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
ray of frost(T: 1d20 ⇒ 201d3 ⇒ 1
Spell resistance: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Confirm Rapier(R): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 191d6 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Confirm Ray of Frost(T): 1d20 ⇒ 21d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
My total damage should be 11 with rapier and 1 point with the ray of frost

Male Human Magus 1

let me lead this one further in so you put the other one down permanently Tug Jonas slashes the air with his rapier as he misses the creature hoping to coax it further into the short walkway around the statue. leaving him backed into the wall. To further enrage the beast he lets loose a ray of cold energy at the creature. I use a full attack action and continue to fight defensively (AC 22) taking a 5 foot step back and fire off a ray of cold.
Rapier(R):1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 01d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Ray of Cold(T):1d20 - 2 ⇒ (10) - 2 = 81d3 ⇒ 3
magical resistance:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
and hit a bunch of nothing

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas pulls his arm back from the stinging slash of the beasts claws and shifts his stance to limit his exposure to the creatures attacks. Lets see you try that again ugly! I fight defensively using guidance to off set the penalties. My adjusted AC becomes 22.
Rapier(R):1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 71d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas takes advantage of the creatures divided attention and attempts to strike the creature.
Rapier(R):1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas prepares for the creatures to come through the door ready to run them through if they make the attempt. I also ready an action to strike either of the creatures if they enter within range of my sword.
Rapier(R): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas hears the wisdom in his companions words and reluctantly steps back but not before swinging at the same beast he had struck before. Once in position next to Tug, Jonas summons light in the door way of the room. Use a full attack action to strike at the target then take a 5 foot step back and cast the light spell in the room at the entrance way.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 91d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas nods to Etohya as he passes saying Thanks. before taking a position just in front of Tug. Jonas summons power to his blade and strikes at the beast to his right. Pulling back slightly and prepares to defend the door way once I feel the blade strikes home. Just give me a heads up when your ready to swing So I can Duck Tug. I use a move action to get into position then a swift action to power up my sword and a standard action to strike at the creature. I added the damage from the first role to the second so the confirmation is the total damage if it hits.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 231d6 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas tosses his dagger but it misses the mark by a wide margin as the beast flits past the opened door.
thrown dagger: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (7) - 5 = 21d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Male Human Magus 1

good to know I adjusted my character accordingly

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas gives a Tug a thumbs up indicating his understanding before drawing one of the daggers hanging from his belt preparing it for throwing at the enemies once they are within range. I assume that I still have at least a few rounds left on my shield spell I will leave the amount up to you. I had 17 rounds left when the last battle ended to give you a start point.

Male Human Magus 1

Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Male Human Magus 1

This statue appears to be holding an expensive looking weapon. We should come back after investigating the rest of the area and look it over more closely.

Male Human Magus 1

Once Tug moves a little further I will direct the light of my spell to high light the statue so I can get a better look at it. I would like to determine if the statue has any significance. The only skill I have that might be of use might be of use is Knowledge Planes

Male Human Magus 1

Cough Cough just trying not to trip over my feet in the dark while remaining stealthy wearing this jingly armor stuff. Stealth is not my strongest ability at the moment. So as Etohya said I am just following our point man.

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas continues to follow after Tug keeping a little distance between them and directing his spell to the far end of the hall. Ethoya are you at your current position on the map or are you up with us? I don't think getting to far away from each other is a good idea in the tunnels. By the way thank you for keeping my butt from getting to scratched up.

Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas continues to follow Tug keeping several paces behind staying quiet and just within the dim light produced by his dancing lights spell. While trying to use all his senses to perceive any potential dangers ahead.
Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 18
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Male Human Magus 1

Getting a better idea of what is there Jonas answers Tugs question. I say we try the door and see if its locked and go from there.

Male Human Magus 1

Let me get some light in there and take a look Jonas moves his dancing lights spell into the room to get a better look.

Male Human Magus 1

Jonas moves up behind Tug and speaks quietly. See anything interesting?
