The son of a moderately successful merchant family, Jerrold spent his youth travelling up and down the Avery coast. He spent as many nights as not sleeping under the stars and drank in stories of the constellations, heroes of the past. He inherited something of his family's gift for bargaining and meeting new people, but it wasn't his passion. Jerrold became interested in the old ways- the stories of King Kelland's victory and the ancient pacts, the unseen court, and the mysteries of the ages writ in the dance of the stars. He fell in with one of the less recalcitrant wood elves who guided him in the ways and lore of the old religion.
Jerrold went where he felt he was needed most, to the city of Flint where man and nature are practically at war. He spends much of his time roaming the bayous and the slums near cauldron hill, calling out those Fey who intrude on mortal affairs. On the other hand, a fair part of his work lies in performing rituals of apeasment and punishing mortals for the more egregious violations of the old customs while providing guidance and education in the proper rituals to be observed.
Some see him as a crazy vigilante, others as a valuable buffer between the city's desperate poor and the angry fey. His work came to the attention of the RHC and he was offered a job. While bearing a grudging respect for King Aodhan, he probably wouldn't have accepted if not for the work of the King's sister, the Duchess of Shale. More than anything else her actions and reputation have won his loyalty to the crown.
