(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Janosz shows up in civvies (nice ones, equivalent to a dark business suit), carrying his kukri. However, I'll roll up my chainshirt and stuff it into my Quiver of Ehlonna. Thus, I can be ready for anything in about a minute.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Janosz is happy to head to the market with Runzyl and sell off their loot. "Why on earth would anyone want to give us money to go to a party? Normally, it's the other way around, right? Sometimes I don't get this place at all."

"D'ya know what I should do, though? I should try to steer a little business towards the guy who does my ink. I'm sure he'll appreciate that. Speaking of which - now that I have money...

Time for a tattoo update! Also, our loot distribution (short version: not all that much) is posted in the discussion thread.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Janosz has kept his distance from the totem, eyeing it nervously. "Destroying it is out of the question. We should sell it to someone who will treat the totem with respect. That is more important than trying to drive up the price further."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

A big grin spreads across Janosz' face. "I think I know who this Verdigris fellow is. Let's crack this thing open."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Um, and what client?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Pick up the big crate before figuring out how to travel to the Mournlands?

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"The food and water situation shouldn't be a huge problem as we can stash significant quantities of both inside the tent. However, will the tent itself work normally inside the Mists, if, as you say, magic is unpredictable in the Mournlands? Some field testing seems prudent - and necessary."

"We can get to the Mournland border quickly by using Marrius' ship again. It really is too bad that all hose people were present when we docked - otherwise, we could just have snuck out without telling anyone. It'll be hard to convince the Karrnathi Navy that we didn't really retutn to Sharn..."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"If Lightbringer goes, I'll go too. But I want to check out Mr. Verdigris' shipment first."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Sure... How far into the Mists is this place?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Ah, um... Isn't that impossible for normal mortals?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Keep the kalashtar out of it. They'll just add unneeded storytelling complexity. For what it's worth, I think the formula sorta works. However, it would probably be good if you would let Lightbringer and Rodergo have a bit of editorial input on their dialogue, so that they can put in some suitably uplifting passages."

"Also, when did Mr. Verdigris' crate arrive? Just curious."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Selkatari isn't a bad sort. I'm excited 'bout her letter." Janosz turns to the driver. "Drop us off a couple of blocks away. The kalashtar are an aescetic bunch. I'm sure the luxury vehicle will disturb their finely tund sensibilities."

Lightbringer wrote:

Ah, ok, bad memory ... was that just after we faced off against Karile? Do you happen to know what page number it was - if not, don't worry, I'll try to flick through and find it later.

It was right after we finished the d'Cannith fight. Use the search function on her name, and you'll find it right away.

Lightbringer wrote:

Anyone recognise the name Verdigris? Sounds like a warforged … anything to do with our old friend Darkheart?

Well, verdigris is green...

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Selkatari is the kalashtar leader.

"Selkatari, you said? Hand that over."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"That's... Ah... What does this 'action figure' look like?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Um..." Janosz looks despairingly at Rodergo and Runzyl as they approach the scrwaming throng. "Just remember that we [i]can't[I] talk about our most recent adventure. The Aerenal would skin us alive. Try to, um, pick a good cover story..."

He shoots Ezreal a worried glance. "This wo't urn out well, will it?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"How did they all know we were coming? After all, we did sneak out in the middle of the night when we left, and it can't be common knowledge that we were on the Eagle."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Wow. That was unexpected."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Whatever he as smoking when he was writing that, I'll have some."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Of course - if we're flying back the same way we came, Janosz is up for some goblin-sniping. He'll even challenge Runzyl to a bow duel if the opportunity arises.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

This is going to be a looooong flight... Janosz makes himself scarce, mostly hanging out with the Eagle's crew members during the trip home.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"I assume we can't just cut it off? It probably goes further into your body than just skin deep."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Yeah, I know a thing or two about that. ;D And this guy has a (literally) unlimited time horizon... We might just as well get going.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

I guess the question is whether we should wait for her to get in touch with us, or if we should just fly home.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Perception 13+13=26.

"We can be found aboard the Crimson Eagle at the skyship harbour", Janosz tells the female elf.

"You had her spooked there for a second", he tells Rolund as the party makes its way back to the ship. "She must be a wizard of sorts; she had some spell lined up when she thought you were going after the old husk."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Not only is the dragon still alive, it dwells in the Grey Cairns. We spoke with it at some length. But now that Galades is finally destroyed, perhaps it will move somewhere else?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Yes, ma'am." Janosz walks back to the undead loremaster. "At Galades' death, there was a dragon, right? Do you remember its name or colour?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Janosz steps back and walks over to the female elf. "Bad day, or is he always like this?", he whispers.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Galades is dead. We killed his ghost and scrubbed his memory from the cairn stones."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Um, ah, good morning, professor! Do you remember us? We were here a few weeks ago, asking about the Grey Cairns. Well, we just returned from there and thought perhaps you would have an interest in what we did, who we met, what it looks like, that sort of thing."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Janosz gives the weird elf a nervous look. "Ah, we have returned from the Grey Cairns. We thought, uh, since your father has something of an interest in that place, perhaps he had a few questions for us."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

After the ceremony, Janosz wanders off to get some more tattos.

I still want to visit the deathless loremaster and give him an update. Beyond that, I can't think of anything else to do here.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Yeah, no pressure or anything... ;D

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Jerks. If I only culd have used my sterling Intimidate skill... It would have made for an odd funeral, though. ;P

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"I, too, would like to speak of Jalana." Janosz steps forward, holding a small burlap sack. "I did not know her for very long. However, the time I spent with her was intense, filled with songs, laughter and glorious adventure. Jalana's martial skills and exploits were considerable, as were her accomplishments as an explorer, and I could have spoken at length about ability as a archer and fencer or how her name struck fear into the hearts of her enemies. However, what I will remember the most about her was her unconquerable spirit. During the period I was fortunate enough to spend with her, she taught me that one's life is measued by the deeds one performs - that one should always be ready to fight the good fight, seize any opportunity and grab life by the horns and wrest it into submission. Her bright spirit has made me a better man, and I will remain grateful for this as long as I live"

Janosz opens up the bag and pulls out the ancient Seren dragon totem he found on the trail leading to the Grey Cairns; he spent the morning carefully cleaning it of moss and rot. "Where come from, it is customary to leave a token with fallen heroes as a testament to their skill ad bravery. This rude idol is taken from the place of both her greatest triumph and her most terrible fall. If anyone shoud have it, it should be her." He carefully puts the statuette at her feet before stepping back.

Diplomacy 13-1=12. I'm with Runzyl here, feeing terribly inadequate.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Yeah, I want to be somewhat eloquent, too. I'm busy tonight, though, so I might not post until tomorrow.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Janosz is unarmoured and only carries his knife in his belt. He quietly sits down underneath a tree, paying close attention to the ceremony; though he doesn't understand Elvish, he still appreciates the elder speaker's poetic cadence.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Lovely. We're back in my favourite city." Janosz spits over the railing. "Do y'all think we should stop by the undead loremaster? Y'know, give him an update on things, tell him about Galades, the dragon and all that?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Valenar. We've gotta bury Jalana first. After that, we'll return to Sharn."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Looks good to me. I'm all out of cash, but I have yet to use that sword...

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Oh, I never worry - after all, I'm not adventuring for filthy lucre, but rather to satisfy my crazed bloodlust. Um, did I say that out loud?

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

I did indeed say 'choice stuff' - i.e. MW or magical stuff. I don't think we ever found that kind of quality gear, so we didn't pick up anything. Besides the pot of facepaint, the only Seren gear I was interested in was the dino-plate armour - and those guys were washed away by the river before we got our mitts on them. So, we may have gained in experience, but not in coin. And that's OK.

Also, I have a Longsword +1 that I don't use. I'll put that into Marrius' payment pot if needed.

You actually left most of the treasure behind as you either failed the skill checks to work out it was valuable or didn't even try because you thought it was cursed.

Good thing we're not in this for the money. ;P Seriously, though, there's no way I would have gone tomb-robbing in that place, and the ghost gear was all ethereal and thus unreachable. So I don't think we're missing out.

"How's the ship doing? Should we stay around and gather more timber?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Rodergo Xativa wrote:
Casting genital repose asap...

Um, that would be gentle repose, right?

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Runzyl killed off his ghost enemy and lifted his curse. Then Jalana died. That put a bit of a damper on the celebratory mood. Other than that, it was a great success."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

I'm on full hp. The only guy down would be Basher - he was pretty tattered at the end of the fight and ony gets half effect from curative spells. He has about 30 hp after Rodergo's healing bursts.

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

I have no ranks in either skill.

"Wouldn't it make more sense if the dragon is the Emerald Claw? Of course, it might be the scion of an even more powerful green dragon... Damned fickle bones, never giving you a straight answer."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

After a few minutes of silent marching, a thought strikes Janosz. "Hold on for a second. Back on the Eagle, y'know, when Rodergo was casting the bones and divining the future, didn't you say something about how the sons of the Emerald Claw was guarding the Cairns against entering and leaving? Clearly the Seren weren't Claws. Do you think there might be another group waiting for us as we make our way out of here? Perhaps it would be prudent to expend some healing magicks now, despite their decereased efficiency here, just to be prepared if the worst happens."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"I... I dunno. What's dead should stay dead. Messing around with the dead seems like the province of necromancers. And if Runzyl's right and Jalana's poor soul is held captive by that cursed witch" - Janosz shudders in horror and rage - "there's no way that she can return to the living. Who knows what you'd get back instead - a demon or a rakshasa?"

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

"Yeah, let's get out of this hellhole. We'll check in with the dragon on our way out; maybe he has something to say. I'm sure he'll want to hear about the changes in the Prophecy or whatever the ghost crone was rambling about." He spits over the edge of the platform. "Touch nothing as we leave. This place is cursed."

(Male Human Ranger 6/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 4)

Crap! My bad - the ship is named the Crimson Eagle. The Centennial Osprey was my initial joke name suggestion. It (possibly) won't happen again.
