About James Martin

James Martin was born and raised in Northern Virginia, lived in Indiana, North Carolina, West Africa, North Dakota and now resides in Iowa. There he assists in running a small city where strange and terrible things lurk just below the urban surface. In his spare time he reads to the deaf and teaches blind people to drive. He first began his romance with RPGs when he discovered a copy of the AD&D Players Guide in his local library. Lacking anyone to play it with, he nonetheless poured over it like a sacred tome. He didn't get to play until college when he was shocked to learn there was an actual group who gamed. He cut his teeth on GURPS, World of Darkness and three games of AD&D before leaving for Africa. When he returned, he discovered they had updated D&D into a Third Edition. He dove in and has been playing 3.x ever since. He flirted with 4th edition, but the siren lure of Pathfinder called him back with the Rise of the Runelords. Thanks to the group he DM'd, Sandpoint is now a much more peaceful place and a certain Runelord did not, in fact, rise. He did however end up with a Sandpoint in which a Succubus now runs the Rusty Dragon alongside Ameiko and her husband.

James was shocked and honored to make it to RPG Superstar 2010. His submissions can be viewed here:
Runcible Spoon
The Wyrmhiri
Churjiir, Two-Headed Rat King Stats

James was terrified and shaken that he was selected for RPG Superstar 2011. His submissions can be viewed below:
Poisoner's Retort
Crooked Man (Bard) Archetype

When not running his dark city and darker games, James is the father of a five year old boy and the housemate of two cats. He exists solely at the pleasure of these creatures, serving their every need and dark desire. (Mostly this includes Transformers, cat food and clean litter, though not all of the above for all the creatures.)
