I wouldn't count on a dwarven AP pretty much ever. James Jacobs isn't to keen on dwarves and as far as I can tell, he's the one who determines what does and doesn't make it as an AP.

Edit: For a module though, have you looked into Clash of King Slayers?

(Mutated Animal Turtle Smasher 10)

Just in case, here is the re-roll plus the income:

Size: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15

Income: 1d10 ⇒ 8

(Mutated Animal Turtle Smasher 10)

Hey James, would you mind if I re-rolled my size? That minimum roll is kind of extreme and I'm having a hard time conceptualizing around it. If you would rather I kept it, no problem at all.

Yes, you can. Someone from Paizo said so here on the boards. Should I find the link, I'll let you know.

EDIT: There it is: LINK.

Great, thanks a bunch!

2 people marked this as FAQ candidate. Staff response: no reply required.

So, I searched around on the site and looked through the FAQ but couldn't find an answer for this. Sorry if I just missed it somewhere.

Can you put multiple effects of Evil Eye on one creature? For example, you put the -4 to saves on the first turn, maintain with Cackle, second turn put -4 to attack on the same creature... so on.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I hope we get a spell to make the Crawling Claws! One of my favorite characters used to be a necromancer who wore a big cloak with like 50 crawling claws clutching the inside. Luckily, we didn't play with encumbrance rules in those days. :-P

Technically, the gods in between don't have paladins. Clerics and inquisitors are meant to be their holy warriors and divine agents. That said, you are the GM and the choice is really up to you on how to handle it. In my game, paladins don't have to be LG as long as they have some sort of code that makes sense with their gods alignment. Just a warning, there are a lot of people on these boards with very strong opinions on this subject.

(Mutated Animal Turtle Smasher 10)

Oops! Thanks Shifty. Here we go: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2) = 11

(Mutated Animal Turtle Smasher 10)

Okay, here goes..

Roll 1: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5) = 13
Roll 2: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1) = 5
Roll 3: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3) = 14
Roll 4: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) = 13

EDU: 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 6, 3) + 3 = 15
INT: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
SIZ: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8

Wow, minimum size. I'm pretty small for a carpenter. That 5 is going to hurt too.

(Mutated Animal Turtle Smasher 10)

Okay, great. I'll definitely go with the set builder as the framework of my character, but I'll see where my stats end up before i begin to fill in a lot of the details.

(Mutated Animal Turtle Smasher 10)

Okay, a couple things.. First, thanks James for allowing me to play in your PBP! I'm really looking forward to it and I hope you'll be patient with me at first as I find my feet with this style of game.

Second, should we figure out who wants to be the psycoanalyst/ alienist character? I would rather it were someone other than me. I'm new to pbps and would like to get the hang of things before being anything close to the main character.

Finally, my concept (not yet nearly as detailed as Shifty's) is to be a carpenter/ set builder type. Maybe I work for the Scala Theater? Would that sort of background fit well with the module?

Oh and my real name is Jamie, nice to meet you all!

I've never participated in a pbp game before, but I'd love to give it a shot. I'm a big CoC fan and I've got the rule book, not sure which edition though..

Also there are some things that are straight up wrong in the program such as non-clerics being unable to take subdomains. Is there a way to report this stuff so it gets fixed?

I think that's the actual rule(which I've house ruled away). Pretty sure I read that somewhere on the boards here.. I'll post a link if I come across it..

Remember that BALDUR'S GATE 1 + BALDUR'S GATE 2 + Tutu Mod = total gaming nirvana.

What's the tutu mod?

Nope. The one after this will be called the Jade Regent (or something similar).

i understand, but why is the cover of the first part, on amazone, white?

Before Paizo has final cover art for their books, they put together a mock up version. Amazon often slacks on updating to the real cover art, once it's out.

Really excited to see how your game unfolds. I'm going to run Haunting for some friends as a one shot next Saturday, then if they like it, I'm also planning to segue into Shadows of Yog-Sothoth! I've never run CoC before (though I have played once) so, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for pointers and paying attention to how you handle things.

Question. Did you mean for the effect of Doom Gaze to jump from a -2 to a -8 at 16th level? I only ask cause thats a big jump.

Yep there's a mistake there... but it's not the -8.

The doom gaze hex should apply a -4 penalty qhwn you first take it, and then -8 at 16th level. I'll see about getting the PDF fixed.

Is it meant to stack with Evil Eye?

Something I've never been super clear on: Are there going to be different versions of the book depending on rules versions? If so, how will pre-orderers make the distinction of which version they want?

Bad form Mr Sutter. :-)

The Great Beyond is a planar sourcebook for the Pathfinder Campaign Setting.
Sorry - meant to say, Will there be a hardcover sourcebook for the outerplanes? I have the Great Beyond - was just wondering if Paizo has any inclination to produce something bigger and crunchier.

It could certainly happen someday, long after Great Beyond is out of print, but for now GB is the best resource to our planes.

Now, if you want *novels* dealing with the planes, I can hook you up...

Whoa whoa, you can't just say something like that and not give any details..

Congrats Owen, you guys do great stuff. Happy to see you Geniuses doing well.

You should check out Azmyth's podcast on that very subject. It's got an interview with Brandon Hodge, the author. It's very cool. Link

I guess it really depends of the Module. I'm a player in CotCT and we have blown through the first four books. However, we're three or so sessions into book five and we've been trounced a couple times already (thank you dimension door).

Witches are great and have probably forever killed mystic theurge builds...

Yup. I know I won't be mourning that loss.

My witch is 12th level by the way, playing Curse of the Crimson Throne. He mostly specializes in battlefield control, debuffing and blasting. A difference though, is that I made him cast spells like a sorcerer. it has been a great character to play.

Woohoo! Just bought like 9 of them. Lots of reading to do.

I believe that Kirth (posted above), has been working on a more modular, classless system, that may help you. Maybe he'll share it, if you ask nicely.

In that case, I have a suggestion: explain that the "new PC' exploration of the Tomb takes place a month or so in the recent past. Wait for the temporary PCs to get killed, oh, maybe twice.

Then, introduce the campaign PCs into the Tomb.

You are evil sir. :-P

What level range are you looking for?

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about changing much. I'm running Rise of the Runelords for my group right now and I'm playing in a Curse of the Crimson Throne, both using Pathfinder rules and neither I nor my GM have altered any of the trap stat blocks. Seems to be working pretty well. If you are worried about the PCs being a little too tough, well that will probably just give you a little more playing time before the eventual TPK. ;-)

Are you going to have them use existing characters or make some new ones? I actually just read this adventure about two weeks ago and it is quite deadly. I wouldn't recommend sending the players already established characters into this dungeon. on the conversion question, I would just run it as-is. To my knowledge, Paizo didn't tweak the trap system a whole lot.

Hey James just a quick question. Any chance on getting an article completely about Tar-Baphon?

+1 Maybe once the God articles are done, we can have some on Golarion's major NPCs?

That is a heck of a spoiler in your title. If you can still change it, you probably should.

Maybe now we can get some expansions!

Also, if anyone is interested, Mike Selinker has a cool story about this games origins here.

I see today's theme is monsters without feet. Interesting.

And a few years ago, my Watertown rep was there on consecutive days when it was +36 F on the first day and -36 F on the second day...yeah, a 72 degree temperature drop in 24 hours, passing the freezing point...That's how I run my winters in Pathfinder....)

I was working on an HVAC system in an attic in Hilton Head a couple summers ago and looked at my probe thermometer and it was 138F. Opposite ends of the spectrum. :-) That was a long eight hours.

You may want to think about using the spoiler tags in the product description area. Either that or start a new thread and add spoilers to the title.

Indeed, thank you Josh and good luck. I hope you're not out of the industry for long.
