Hi guys! Please post any "out of character" discussions on this thread. The sooner we have characters done by everyone, the better. But I understand if it takes longer than you expect. Let's set a deadline for July 30th. Feel free to ask any questions at all, such as how this forum is used for roleplay. 20 point buy. Maximum starting wealth. No traits. Advanced player manual classes are welcome. Hi guys. I am recruiting four players who have never participated on a PBP before. If you're a PBP newbie you can sign up here. First come, first served. The target posting rate is at least once a day. Please let me know in advance if you don't think you can meet that rate. Also, I ask that only players from the Western hemisphere (North and South America, Hawaii, etc.) sign up. I'd like to see if such an arrangement would lead to faster combat posting. My next game after this one will be for those on the Eastern hemisphere, UK and Western Europe. This game will be based on Paizo's module Hollow's Last Hope. If our adventure ends successfully and there is player interest, we will continue on to the sequel, Crown of the Kobold King. The first game will take around four to five weeks real time to finish. Please do not work on a character until you have signed up and I have confirmed that you are in the game. Hi guys. I am recruiting four players who have never participated on a PBP before. My next game after this one will be for those on the Eastern hemisphere. This game will be based on Paizo's Pathfinder Society module , Hands of the Muted God. This is not an official Pathfinder Society game. Characters will be level 5. The game will take around four to five weeks real time to finish. Shivering in the cold, you and your fellow Pathfinders stand before the ruined east face of the Fallen Fortess. Just a few hours earlier you were warm and comfortable in your quarters at the Grand Lodge in Absalom. But then your venture-captain Adril Hestram summoned you with bad news. "Five days ago Balenar Forsend left the Lodge without telling anyone," growled Captain Hestram. "I've just learned that he was seen entering the Cairnlands in the direction of the Fallen Fortress. I'll wager that young fool decided to be the first to explore the the site, hoping to grab all the fame for himself. Now he's likely dead or trapped somewhere in the ruins." The Cairnlands is the desolate battlefield that surrounds the city of Absalom. Littered for miles around are hundreds of abandoned seige engines and towers constructed over the millennia by the city's would-be conquerors. The Fallen Fortress is one such ruin. Magically sealed after the death of its forgotten master, a recent earthquake caused part of the castle to collapse, opening its interior for the first time in centuries. Balenar had been asking Hestram to send him out there for many weeks, only to be turned down every time. "So this is my very first assignment for you," continued Hestram, "find Balenar and bring back whatever is left of him. Also, make note of what you discover along the way. I have a strong suspicion that someone or something has moved in there since the last earthquake finally broke its magical wards. So beware, don't get yourselves killed, and most importantly, don't disappoint me." A picture of how the venture-captain looks like in a better mood. Using Paizo and Open Design's new collaborative module. Looking for four players. Level 6 Good-aligned. 25 point buy. 16,000 gp. No traits. Advanced player manual classes are welcome. Standard races only. Minimum of one post a day. Please don't create your character before I have accepted you. What you have to do: tell me which is your favorite H.P. Lovecraft story you have read, why, and describe the your most memorable scene from that story. Hi guys! Please post any "out of character" discussions on this thread. The sooner we have characters done by everyone, the better. But I understand if it takes longer than you expect. Let's set a target deadline for this Friday. This will be a short game, based on Paizo's Master of the Fallen Fortress Free RPG Day module. The game will take around three to four weeks real time to finish. At the center of the world on the isle of Kortos rises Absalom, a city vast and wealthy without peer. A little to the west on the same island rests Diobel, a small port town existing in near obscurity. Few citizens of Absalom have visited Diobel, and most care nothing for a place so isolated from the politics and commerce of their great city. But nothing in this world is as it seems, and humble Diobel is no exception ... You and your party arrive in Diobel on the orders of the Pathfinder Society. There, you meet Osprey, a fellow Pathfinder in a rundown tavern known as “The Tails”. The drunken songs of longshoremen provide ample cover for secret conversation. “We’ve word that the Chelaxian pirate Darsielle Du Moire has anchored his ship, the Hydra’s Fang, in the harbor. Everyone’s looking for that bastard. He carries with him ancient tablets of extreme historical value to our people. We need to recover the stolen tablets before his pursuers find him or he flees port." At the center of the world rises Absalom, a city vast and wealthy without peer. Founded by the man-god Aroden over forty centuries ago, it has withstood hundreds of invasions by the envious powers of the Inner Sea. Outside its mighty walls crumbling seige engines litter the landscape as testament to the invaders' countless failures. Yet so great a prize is Absalom, there are those who will not allow even death to stand in their way ... You and your companions are racing through the flooded streets of the Puddles District in search of the sage Yargos Gil. An eccentric man of poor professional reputation, Yargos nevertheless aided your party in recent successes. Minutes ago he and three of his friends were abducted from a local eatery by a gang of men. Fortunately you were in the neighborhood and were able to follow their muddy tracks (for the streets of the Puddles are always covered in wet filth.) You are now at the seaside cliffs. Tattooed thugs are about to push Yargos and his friends into the sea. They are shackled together with heavy chains, which will surely drown them should they fall. Hi guys. I plan on running two Pathfinder games at a time on this forum, just for those who have never participated on a PBP before. If you're a PBP newbie, or have played a PBP but never a Pathfinder/Golarion PBP, you can sign up here. Each game will have five players. Right now I have two games waiting in the wings; one already has two or three players. The first eight forum members who sign up here will get to create new characters and play. After all slots have been taken I will stop accepting applications. Neither will I "wait list" potential players. But once a game finishes I will immediately post a notice here for another five new players. The only requirement is that you have never participated in a play-by-post game before, or a game set in the Pathfinder world of Golarion at all. The target posting rate is at least once a day. Please let me know in advance if you don't think you can meet that rate. Hi guys. Could you all start discussing what character classes you would like to play. Here are the basic character creation guidlines: Starting level is 2. 15 point buy. Maximum hit points for each level. Remember that you can use these online OGL resources: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page Two months have passed since the great goblin invasion was thwarted by the heroes of Sandpoint. With the death of Nualia the fallen aasimar, the goblin tribes lost focus and went back to fighting one other. Safe for now, the citizens of Sandpoint work to rebuild their town and heal their wounds. One night Sheriff Hemlock gathers everyone to his house for a private after-dinner drink. After a round of toasts the conversation soon turns serious. “First, let me thank you again for all you’ve done for Sandpoint." says the sheriff " It’s fortunate that we have heroes such as you here, because we’ve got a new problem, one that needs dealing with now before the situation grows worse. “Put simply, we have a another murderer in town. Some of you doubtless remember the Late Unpleasantness, which nearly tore the community apart as Chopper’s slayings went on unanswered. I’m afraid we might have something similar brewing now. “Last night, the murderer struck at the sawmill. There are two victims, and their remains are in pretty bad shape. The bodies were discovered by one of the mill workers, a man named Ibor Thorn, and by the time my men and I arrived on the scene, a crowd of curious gawkers had already sprung up. I’ve got my men stationed there now, keeping the mill locked down. "You may be wondering if I'm jumping to conclusions. After all, things like these happen in larger towns like Sandpoint. What you don't know is that this is actually the second set of murders we’ve had in the last few days. Three con men from the town of Galduria were found dead in an abandoned barn south of town a few days ago. They had a bodyguard who survived the assault. But he went insane and is being kept at the sanitorium. “I come to you for help in this matter—my men are good, but they are also green. They were barely able to handle themselves against the goblins. I need the help. But I’m afraid you’ll need the help too. You see, I’m afraid that this particular murderer knows one of you as well.” Hemlock passes a bloodstained scrap of parchment to Valandil. It is folded, and on the outside it is written with Valandil's first name. Inside is a short message: “I do as you command, master!” I currently run two games on this forum, and once one of them finishes I plan on starting a new Pathfinder RPG game just for those who have never participated on a PBP before. If you're a PBP newbie, or have played a PBP but never a Pathfinder/Golarion PBP, you can sign up here in advance. I'm looking to keep the party small, up to five players. We'll be going through a short Pathfinder Society module. Once that finishes, I'll start up a new adventure for a different group of newbies. If you sign up here and while waiting manage to get into another PBP game, then I would appreciate it if you rescind your application (by notifying me on this thread.) Back from their latest adventure, the party receives an not-unexpected invitation from Elyin Ursage, an old friend and founding member: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Elyin Ursage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The frontier town of Bellis stands within the quiet shade of the Verduran Forest, nestled along the western banks of the slow-moving Sellen River. Flower gardens color every homestead, painting a vibrant scene under the summer sun. Common folk go about their business, tilling the land, tying off keelboats, and hobnobbing over cups of mead. In this grove of the goddess Shelyn, festivities for the wedding stretch from a stone chapel (A6) and a lovely rosegarden (A7), past a large open-air tent (A2), and down to the sun-drenched, tree-lined banks of Stillwater Creek (A1.) Music and laughter fill the air, with partygoers calling out for attendees to join their games and merrymaking (at the dance area A4 and horseshoe pit A5.) A well-worn path strewn with fower petals leads between plain wooden benches to a decorative gazebo at the bottom of this amphitheater (A3.) More flowers adorn the structure itself, and a line of well-wishers leads inside to Elyin and his lady-love Kailah, who are resplendent in their wedding finery. When Elyin sees his old companions approach he vaults over the railing and rushes over to embrace them all joyously. "My friends! My dear, dear friends! I am so glad that you all made it!" “Deep in the forest, something is stirring. An evil fey sorcerer, cast out of the First World millennia ago by her own kin, has found a way to break through the ancient walls of her prison, and carries with her a vengeance too deep to be sated. For the quiet Andoren town of Bellis, busy celebrating a long-awaited marriage, it's a time for joy and laughter. Yet the forest that's always sheltered it is growing dark, and things are moving in the heart of the woods... " ======================================================================= -This is a PBP for a group of three to five players. Recruitment for this game will be handled differently: players need to submit their characters as part of a group of other players. In other words, I'd like you to hook up with your friends and come up with a party, and play the game together. - Proposals are not accepted on a first come first serve basis. - Proposals will be evaluated on how whether players have given some thought to party balance, how complete and accurate the individual character sheets are, and how interesting the party and PC backgrounds are. - Party backgrounds do not have to be in-depth histories. About two short paragraphs is what I'm looking for. - Same with PC backgrounds. About one short paragraph. -A character is considered to have been submitted when an applicant posts in this thread in his PC's alias, with a character sheet in the profile. -A party is considered to have submitted when all the characters have been submitted and one of the applicants have posted the party name, party membership and history on this thread. -Each individual applicant should only belong to one group. -Character sheets can be of any ad hoc format. -Level 7 -20-point-buy for ability scores. -Pathfinder standard wealth for 7th level characters. -Standard races. - Multiclass characters are fine. -Advanced Player's Guide test classes are fine. -It's OK, even encouraged, for players to use characters from previous games. But there's no "carry over". You'll have to stick to the character requirements listed above. -Our main objective here is to actually finish an adventure, whether it be a successful conclusion or a bloody TPK. The expected posting rate is at least once per day. -Absences are fine if warned ahead of time (no explanation necessary.) -Tentative application cutoff will be the end of Sunday, March 14th. Known in the kingdom of Ustalav as the Boil or the Wart, the city of Carrion Hill rises over the southern banks of the Kingfisher River. It is the largest area of contiguous solid ground in the swampland known as the Wrythe within a forty mile radius. When the river fog rolls in every evening, those who live atop the hill’s elite Crown district can look out on a world of enchanted white vastness, while those who dwell in the lower warrens may be grateful that the fearsome beasts of the Wrythe are kept out by the city's sturdy defenses. Most of the time. You are a lone adventurer just recently arrived (or returned) to Carrion Hill. It has been raining all day and you have been trying to stay dry, which is no easy task in the flooded streets of the Tangle district. The shrill voice of the town crier carries above the drumming of the rain: “Carrion Hill needs heroes! Men of stout heart and bravery are asked to come to Crown Manor with all haste, there to receive a task worthy of their skill and talents and a reward of suitable magnifcence. Make haste to Crown Manor! Make haste!” Heeding the call, you make your way up the Hill to Crown Manor, where the mayor of Carrion Hill holds court within it's fortress-like walls. The city guard, known affectionately as Crows, usher you in. For some reason the Crows are quiet, almost somber, unlike their usual swaggering selves. You are led to the great hall which is darkened and almost deserted but for several guards and three other adventurer-looking types. You are asked to wait for the Honorable Mayor Heggry. You are not offered a chair. The long-faced guards do not seem chatty but these other volunteers appear to be friendly enough ... ======================================================================= You may now introduce your character. Walk, if you will, the claustrophobic alleys of the Tangle, the middenstone vats of the Filth, and the cobbled white roads at the summit of an ancient hill. Know that this is but the latest of cities to crown this summit, a monument to the grime and waste of civilization. The city was built upon the battlefields of history past, for many have sought to control this key
-To give a chance to folks who have trouble joining PBPs, only applications from those currently not in a game as a player here on Paizo will be accepted. (If you're a DM, but not a player, you can apply.) -I'm looking for 4 PCs, one of each basic class type (warrior, arcane caster, divine caster, rogue – I consider bards rogues.) -No multiclass characters. -Advanced Player's Guide test classes are welcome. -The first to submit a mostly complete character sheet of a basic class type will be accepted (the first paladin, the first sorcerer, etc.) -Let's leave equipment selection for later, after you've been accepted. -A character is considered to have been submitted when an applicant posts in this thread in his PC's alias, with a character sheet in the profile. -Only one submission from each applicant, please. -If your submission doesn't come in first, you'll be considered an alternate for that basic class slot. -The sheet can be of any ad hoc format. -Level 5. -20-point-buy for ability scores. -Standard races. -No character background necessary (but it is appreciated.) -Our main objective here is to actually finish an adventure, whether it be a successful conclusion or a bloody TPK. The expected posting rate is at least twice per day. -Absences are fine if warned ahead of time (no explanation necessary.) -I'm not a very masterful DM, so I'll ask forgiveness in advance for poor rulings and shaky storytelling. I'll try to hew as close to the published module as possible. The dark mass of the Arthfell Forest looms just to the north of the trade route, an ominous wall of unbroken green and shadow. Not far ahead is the famous Travelers Stop Inn, the only safe refuge in the area. Rounding a bend in the road, you see a trio of mangy dogs playing a gruesome tug-of-war with some sort of humanoid corpse. Their snarls and barks break the silence of the otherwise calm afternoon. Now recruiting for "Into Haunted Forest", from Paizo's Gamemastery line of modules. I'm looking for 4 players. The first to come up with a complete character sheet will be first served. A character is considered to have been submitted when an applicant posts in this thread in his PC's alias, with a character sheet in the profile. The sheet can be of any ad hoc format. Choose the class you want to play, don't worry about party balance. Level 1. Full level HP. 20-point-buy for ability scores. Standard races. Advanced Player's Guide test classes are OK. Average starting wealth. No character background necessary (but is appreciated.) Our main objective here is to actually finish an adventure, whether it be a successful conclusion or a bloody TPK. The expected posting rate is at least twice per day. Absences are fine if warned ahead of time (no explanation necessary.) Alternates are welcome. And the first four alternates will be the next players for my following adventure after this one (if I get that far.) I'm not a very experienced DM, so I'll ask forgiveness in advance for poor rulings and shaky storytelling. I'll try to hew as close to the published module as possible. |
