Llvenoc

Spoiler:

your constant charitable words of thoughtfulness have caught my attention, I am not seeking to leave; the battle here is something to behold; I am as yet unwounded, though my goblin friends dont seem to be fareing as well.

I suppose as they seem to love me; I shall save them; they seem to think I am some relation so some goddess of theres named Cera; and think that some mighty rats will save them; they say they love to eat Rat on a Stick; but dream of giant rats.

Never cared for rats myself.
ahs well, things are getting busy; must act though bathing with my sister would be nice.

<looks coldly; hurt expression in her eyes at Kenembi>
"This is how you defend a woman's honor? With betrayal, scorn and weak platitudes! Shall I show you scorn? I thought to trust you and seek comfort; but the other side of the coin I know well, Beware
I have eleven sisters, THIS will not ever be forgotten!"
<she changes back into a human, fades away into mist and is gone>

Dear Kalona, I saw this Doom and the cause of here and why. It is an ancient curse of the Northmen, brought down by a diety or powerful priest to cause the destruction of a being who has greatly offended them that they wish to see destroyed utterly. Hence, Doom.

I know of this Doom and He who cast it upon this group, is it wrong for me to tell you; will it cause discention, so be it; you should know as it affects you; two in this group have the Doom upon them; the power of this Doom will summon forth monsters to kill them; continually; they shall not rest easy; it will bend the will of those who are neutral to attack them; it will drive into rage those of evil intent; it will bring them the Glory of Unending Battle; thus is the way of the Northmen. To find their Peace; they must battle and win; or if they loose; die with a weapon in hand spitting their last defiance into the eye of their slayer or they shall be cast out and walk as a shade for eternity seeking to undo their sin.

Is this answer enough for you?

Kenembi, as the sentences spill forth from the dwarf; Iunius seems to shrink more and more at his harsh words; a tear gathers in her eyes and falls burning cold onto you hand; it soon warms.

She turns away towards the wall; sniffs and mumbles very quietly "I serve as I can, I vow I will see this dwarf get his comuppins if it takes a hundred years, in Balfics name I swear it in blood."

Against the wall that only Kenembi can see

Spoiler:

she takes a claw and cuts each cheek on her face; the blood swells and then dissappears.

She looks at Kenembi again, all can hear in the room, "her me my beloved; things are not as they appear, shall I tell you of this dwarf and his lineage; that his people have nearly been exterminated by the drow, like those two; is that my doing; and look at Llvenoc; is he as he appears; what young drow can tell you the inner working of the high politics of the Abyss; that of even such a minor demon lord. I smell a rat; but is that my doing; that his words about these various challenges seem out of place with his age and training? The beautiful Jewel of the Drow, confused and seeking identity; is it my fault that her family has caused the destruction of billions, that her father is one of the most vile warlords in a few thousand years? What danger does that bring us. Was it my fault that a doom was brought on you and your cousin Nebibit? I saw what happened and sought to help you overcome the challenge it represents. Can I help it that I am beautiful; that my nature is to appear as the desire in a males heart; my true appearance would be distracting that even the dead would stop and stare in wonder.

Can I not wonder how you fell into this ghostly trap; what caused it I wonder. Can I not wonder why the fae does not act? Perhaps I have no voice to this dwarf because I am female; shall I be meak and follow behind and not say a word; serve the meals and dance for your pleasure?

I offer myself to you and to aid your party because you have the spark of heroism in your heart; your need is great and the deeds of this world are staggering.

Think you I bring discention as well? I who have been your mirror of Truth. Have I not also bled for you?

Thank you Kalona; your offer and advice are gracious

To Kenembi,
"Strange; I guess we are playing favorites in this motley group. I have thirst and ask the drinking man to share a drink; he refuses as he thinks it binds us; yet, he shares with a drow elf maiden as if it binds him no less.

you say Neb did the healing; yet I sense much pyschic energy residue from battle and very little diefic energy spent, perhaps the residue of a couple low spells; your empath is still healing from many wounds she took upon herself from others; yet you give her no credit, but there she is; weak from the wounds of others. I see no red dust; so no mighty magics employed. Was this truly a fearsome foe? If it was a ghost, I hope you did not make an personal enemy of him; ghosts are hard to kill and will follow you accross the world for revenge; the doom on you is enough without this ghost on your tail.

Look at yon fae; each of you looks disheveld and carry wounds from the battle; my sister shows me that that is the same for the Knight; yet yon fae is unruffled; did he even act?

I thought Good Guys told the truth and shared and were pleasant and worked as a team, made allowances for the lack and fears of others, and were generous; I guess I am mistaken; or few of you are really Good.

What say you my gentle mage, I am confused about this groups ethics?

Kosan, she looks at you directly in the eye

Spoiler:

for a few seconds she looks just like the dwarven maiden of your dreams; ripped bronze muscles; great shape and development; killer smile; long braided locks; just a like a beer advertizement :)

Silly Dwarf; all good looks and not much brains...not a bad thing; course; some of us are thirsty; do you share?

I had meant the sword from the other room; the one on the floor; this wound looks like a slice of evil corruption. I have seen such wounds before. I am sure that with your brawn and mighty skill; a slice from you would break bones; armor; and possibly even shadder spells. You are still carrying that sword correct?

she idlely looks at the weapon racks in this room; perhaps I should carry one of these; I have seen them used but am not warrior.

Of all the Absurdities Lass! It's an Axe and a Hammer It looks nothing like a blasted Sword and it tis the Elves who make evil weapons not Dwarfs! Present pointed eared persuasion excluded of course.

Also Lass If I would have hit him he would have more than a Scratch upon his furry body.

I take another drink from my Flagon Mumbling about Crazy women and them not having a proper education...

<comes over to Kenembi, very close; tail touching his leg; looks at his with a concerned eyebrow lifted>

<Speaking out loud, all can understand her>
hmm; looks like there was a scuffle. Was there a new enemy or were you guys just playing amongst yourselves. Posturing as it were...hmm, no bodies, but lots of blood.

<moves a bit closer to Kenembi, yet turns her head to eye those moving the table>

well, so much for a nice breakfast at a real table, though we probably do not have much time for it as those nasties in the hallway are clearing the rubble to come this way.

<looks right into Kenembi's eyes> That cut looks painful; does it hurt much; looks like a nasty, evil wound, did that dwarf hit you with that evil sword?

<as she leans in almost belly to belly to Kenembi by gently putting her hands on his chest as if examining his healing wound, Kenembi; you once again notice; wow; she smells great; cuts through the stench of sweat and blood and evil corruption which seeps through this room; the more you look into her eyes, her soul the more comforted you become>

<the new kitten she is carrying jumps up on Kenembi's shoulder and gives a few inquiring sniffs at your familiar; gives a playful nose pat with a paw; then like little kittens do; seems started it has a paw; then looking around seems startled to find itself up in the air so high, gives a little frightened "meow".>

(gives Kosan a saucy look and sway of the hips as she passes him as he guards outside the heavy door to the guard room an lightly brushes his leg with her kitty tail)

(she laughes lightly)
Yes, now you know why I am here; such a thing as this group is a rare and wonderous thing; will they save or destroy; will the purify or cause abomination; chance and free will; have the Fates sewn the threads of destiny or do their needles hang free over the tapestry of life on this world.

Interesting times, you seem a decent companion Kalona

Kalona steps back from her work, pauses as she measures the quality of it then nods and looks over to June.

"Healing you say, well if they are going to be casting several spells I could help with that. So downward to the depths we plunge, led by a dark tribe lost in his own mind, an elf who has difficulty seeing in the dark, a fey who knows not a prank, a human who deals with devils, a dwarf who sets asides grudges, cats of all sorts of varieties, one masked noble, a holy man who permits questionable associations and of course two sisters of no form...Ahh, these are the days are they not?"

All 3 skeletons shake their head in agreement as they head down the stairs.

<in mindlink> yes, both sister entone; yet Iunious continues,
in the history of time there are several mortals who have become dieties of one sort or another; there are dieties who have died and been reborn; and others such as that. At the end of the Great War; before the powers of Law and Chaos were settled; and before the Old Ones were put in slumber; there existed then and still exits now a great rune of magic; which when activated would grant the greatest of desires; you see the Old Ones toyed with their subjects; one Old One; seeking a new exerience to plunder; stepped into the circle; activated it calling to become a such a being of good, knowledge and learning; yet so powerful was the magic circle the Old Ones wrought; that Old One forgot his birthright; and has lived among you as one of your lesser dieties for eons.

Also; long ago; before there was the common practice of becomming a lich that exists today; there was a great necromancer; I shall not name him; in the second age of man; he found a way to consume a great number of souls; this too, the eating of souls, was learned from arcane lore of the Old Ones; thus he thought to sacrifice millions and invest himself with their soul energy.

to continue; Faith magic itself is very strong; humans have a keen ability to create a diety through sheer belief; their fears; lusts; and any powerful emotions can in large enough quantity, create from the either beings tied to them; beings of power whom you call gods.

I have never heard from a sister; or seen with my own eyes any diety drained to raise another diety; I dont think it would work unless they working the spell had great faith energy.

Also; many greater powers; like Zeus or Isis; have raised a mortal to demigod status; some great powers have raised beings to lesser diefic status.

But I myself; I dont call any of these Gods as they are not self sufficient; but that is my view.

In mind link:
"The ghouls, zombies, ghast, Morgh Ranger and the Necromancer have not yet broken through the hall cave in, I cannot tell the number; our Raven friend is flying around and collectin materials and having his Skeleton workers pile bookshelfs, chairs, tables and pots of fluid in the hall to slow their advance; I believe he is attempting an inciderary."

<a small tabby cat appears on the floor near June; she smiles and puts her arms down from her heavonly appeal>

out loud to Kalona:

"i believe I understand what it is you desire; I suggest that you put that green fluid on the bottom; the yellow bottle over it to land on it when the pile your making is disturbed and those 3 bottles of clear fluid at the very top; then they fall they should make a combustible mixture; I see some candles and lamps; should I get them?"

<the cat sees the bettlelike slug scury toward it; jumps on it and devours the bug. The old axium; you are what you eat comes to play; the cat turns a non radiant charcoal black; is surprized; and appears and dissappears in the shadows; generally getting freaked out>

<Inunius calms the cat and picks it hum; gently humming to it>

Aloud: "Kalona, June, can you see them? How many are there?"

not in the room; still asking for a kitty.

My Catfreind; dont move; pray with me; hold your hands up and have faith; it would be unfaithful to move before I get a response; devotion; learn devotion to your thoughts and ideal; anything you want or ask for can be given you; all your desires; you just have to live in that creative moment; pray with me; watch; learn; I have prayed for a companion; one like yours; to join with us in pride; pray with me; one need not be a cleric to pray; only faithful and devoted.

as you wish then, my sister. Oh magi mine, would you have me hold your staff or rod or blessed ointment?

Anyone see where that bat went? is it just my perspective or is this a strange group; not a druid or ranger about yet bats, cats, birds, spiders, and so on.

<she stops at the top of the stairs; holds up her hands to the dark cieling, her lips move in whispered solemn prayer of cleansing "I am unworthy oh master; strengthen my resolve" she puts a small bowl from the room on the floor, uses a fingernail and cuts a small slash in each arm and her neck. In a soft but clear voice: "Oh Master, send me too a pet of your choosing that I may learn to fit in with the menagerie of this group, perhaps a cat to play and hunt, may the unworthy sacrifice of my lifeblood cover the stench of my failures and you most worthy master hear my plea, Mother hear me, Father and Master grant thy child this boon companion">

blood tricks from her wounds; drips into the bowl from each wrist; but the neck flows freely but something strange happens; the blood on her neck dissappears and doest even reach her scant clothing; she seems unconcerned. Where it goes; no one knows. Her wounds quickly heal; no evidence of ever being wounded; not even blood on her skin.

she stands with her eyes open but staring into the darkness of the ceiling expectant and confident.

Right behind you tall, dark and furry. Rowwll, guess sis and I will what, be in the arears?

i know that there are spells for seeing in darkness; there are also items for doing so; the most common I believe are made by gnomes; glasses and helms; are you friendly with any gnomes?

Et Tu Kenembi; would you have me leave you? <she kneels at your feet and speaks in a choked voice; tears drip on your toes.>
Have I not...helped you... supported you... given you greater cause for victory? Do you not find me pleasing.

<she looks up at you; eyes wet; but still the most amazingly beautiful face of your dreams and focused on you.>

Will you spurn the trust I have shown you by changing shape to please you? would you turn you back on me and tell me to go?

Yes, I can be a cat person like you if you wish; if you dont find this form pleasing...<she looks at you intently looking deep, deep into your eyes>...<she changes into a cat person of perfect proportions to what you find pleasing in height, color; and figure>; do you like this better?

I believe it is not our form on the outside that matters; but what is in our hearts; I already feel that your heart and mine beat as one, my dear magi. The only real difference, in some context, between you and I is that when you die and are reborn; your spirit doesnt remember your past lives whereas my sister and I do; we remember the birth of the stars and long forgotten civilizations, hard to seperate facts sometimes. Truly it all blends together; it really takes something exceptional to stand out; but these are exceptional times.

Kemnebi 'Djal Ibenbast' wrote:

Thx Val! This is great. I luv the amount of effort and details you put into things like this! No wonder your table game has been running for so long!:)

Kemnebi continues to scribble copies of the symbols in the magic circle as June, Kalona and he compare notes and knowledge. WHen he has finished sketching the entire circle, being careful to keep the orientation of all the symbols correct, he begins looking around the room. His feline face scruntches up in concentration. Even his familiar is is unusually still as teh wizard begins looking from the circle, to the altar's remains, to the shattered alchemical apparatus, to the broken, still squeaking, wheel. He seems completely oblivious to the words of anyone else in the room as he mutters to himself, drawing lines in the air.

"Ok. Not sure of the exact order,... But if the chemicals were prepared here, probably because of short-lived potency, then the bodies were prepared and subjected to chemical treatment for a duration,... probably for strengthening and enhancing the body, then the circle was used for infusing the bodies with mystical energy, also possibly infusing them with mystically enhanced abilities, then the altar was used to animate the forms with a semblance of life,..."

The mage, despite his protest about making haste moments earlier, seems quite prepared to stay here and study this room for a while. His muttered examinations and conclusions comes to an abrupt halt. He blinks. Twice.

Both he and his familiar's heads turn, very slowly, to look at June.

"Um,... DId you say, that you've only been human, for a few hours?" He asks softly.

"oh; we do?, well we probably are not good at it yet; we have only been human for a few hours" <said with shyness and a small blush>

uhm; I know something about magic cirles and things. Uhm; that symbol <she points> that looks like a tack or pin over a pi symbol; that is inflict; depending on how it is oriented it does the infliction inside or outside the circle; this one I think is inside. so the symbol on the left of it is inflicted though you have to read it right <by looking you three all agree that the symbols were written counter clockwise starting at the Eye at the top. Other than that I know that the way a circle is drawn is important; I agree with you two; this looks like a summoning circle; to summon power; that dragon symbol <and you guys agree from your knowledge> is the symbol for higher magic power, I have seen it in circles and glyphs with what you call hazard or seriously strong power.

If need be; I could tell you all the symbols, but there would be a cost involved, not by my choice mind you. Also; Namaste could use her "Bat" to discover such things as well.

forgive me if I have been to forward, hubris, I know; am trying <turns away; little tear>

<it is pretty obvious to you guys that whoever drew this circle was not this dead necromancer nor the same person that did the work making the shrine and altar.>

Kalona nearly jumps out of her feathers at Kemnebi's voice. And makes to fly away. then regains her composure once she recognizes Kemnebi.

"Oh, I thought it might be...never mind. These symbols? Well, I am truly not very good with such things, fluttering her wings as if to say 'no hands', but I have seen some members of tribes and even a dark-skinned elf or two make use of such circles. So I thought I would look and see if I recognized anything." up to Val if I recognize anything

Noticing June seems to follow Kemnebi's every move. She looks over at her.

"Say June, you and your sister seem to have some rather unusual abilities for humans. Given where that 'boost' to the good mage's power came from, I would guess your not from around...these parts." Glances at Kemnebi. "I dont suppose you have the ability to provide some additional level of protection from...prying eyes would you?" Kalona's view shifts for a second, she ruffles her feathers a bit then looks back at June.

Would you like me to carry those that you are not encumbered? I would carry your books.

hmm; interesting thing about circles; they block magic; <points at a symbol> there could be anything in that circle; breaking it might let it out or might be nothing; roll the dice; take your chances :)

"The books can definitely wait!" He adds hastily, not wanting to be the one who slowed the group down from their mission. He picks them up carefully, and deposits them into his pack, which does not seem to grow or bulge from the added items. The wand he tucks up into his sleeve. "I'll figure this out as soon as I can." He mumbles.

"Um,... I don't recommend that we break the summoning circle." He says nervously, as if afraid that the mere act of mentioning it will cause one of his companions to do exactly that.

"Not unless you think we can afford the time it would take to translate these outer runes." He continues, gaining confidence as he continues with something that he is sure of. "Breaking a summoning circle in and of itself is fairly harmless. But if the circle is also used to contain a creature summoned against it's will, then breaking the circle could possibly release something that;s been bound by it's power and it would be free in our world. That would be bad,..."

"Or the symbols could be something else entirely. runes meant to absorb energy, or permit travel to another plane, who knows what kind of energy might be unleashed if broken?" He rambles on excitedly, fully in his element now.

ah; my magical kitten; your power increases and your ability to fulfill this groups mission; a wand. Nicely done; perhaps you or another can speak with this dead necromancer and learn the riddle of its use. Perhaps his notes or spellbook is close by; hmm, what wonders might those writting hold.

Friend x2; once in Dwarven; once in Scandanavian

Preoccupied? <she moves closer to Kenembi, face to face and whispers>

Spoiler:

What is on your mind and in your heart; burdens are best shared.

Do you even know who the Chancellor of Hell is; he pretty much rules the 9th Plane of hell; not and island; not a city; an entire plane; do you understand my cat friend? Namaste might be a Hero in her own right; but the Chancellor does not stay on top in his position without some serious power, authority, and political skills honed over thousands of years.

I was wondering; I kept smelling the Infernal realm; thought it was that room or something in it; I didnt realize our now proclaimed leader is guided by the Infernal realm; hmm; how do you feel about that my Mage Hero Kenembi?

This sounds Ominous, sweet Kenembi; do you know of this Chancellor also? Why would a greater Bone Devil; a very high ranking leader in the vast Forces of Orcus be afraid of a meare chancellor on this plane.

No sister; I do not see it on the Etheral Plane either, but you all should know; these planes adjacent to ours are always in flux and not much there is permanent and are usually just conduits to this and other prime material planes; though they do connect to many other planes in various spots. The barrier between planes in this region is amazingly thin; as if there is very much travel... back and forth ...penetrating... <looks at Kenembi> the..barrier...and has made the region...unstable. I am guessing it is all the undead as many are extraplanular; but the foot print looks very large; perhaps from the diety we are to rescue.

Oh; a diety. hmm, all of you with extra dimentinal spaces; dont put anything irreplaceable or like inside near a diety; they are like lodestones by their very existance; their thoughts and desires compell the world around them, verily, they create existance. I do not know this earth diety we seek; but I do know many dieties who desire order would erase such dimentional anomolies. Being put in one might be safe, but near a diety involved much more risk.

<< anyone with knowledge planes and religion would have information that agrees with Diety interaction with the planes DC 14>>

uhm; my dearest magi; we should move back if that drow is going across that sand; we could get over run; lets move back a bit.

what is it that is second rate, oh mage of the fast fingers? Is the bag troublesome, perhaps I could carry it for you; I have naught else; I could arrange its contents for you and give over unto your strong hands anything that you desire.

<she looks deep into your eyes and smiles, not so much a challenge as playfully demure; as if she could blush any moment>

now smelling like hot apple pie with cinnamon; she asks Kenembi: is it in your magical repetoire to cast a lightening bolt? look at the spearmen; all in a straight line just waiting for someone to push one over. To avoid them I have no idea unless some magic can discern what the skeletons orders are; must be something simple; guard this room and kill anything living; or kill anyone who enters; or kill anyone who leaves or grovel and give praise when I walk by with that strange formation they are in; two lines sideways; two small groups at the base of the towers, even demented necromancers have reasons for things.

Trades and unfathomable yet familiar look with Decidio

Yes, I can see it; (she touches each of those places and outlines them very slowly with a finger. Look, it bite you and consumed part of you body and soul; your life force as if it were some kind of parasite or vampire; drinking in what is you and becoming stronger. Good thing it didnt drink your Mojo, the source of your magical and mystic power.

Kemnebi tries, though not very convincingly, to keep the Lady June's hands from checking him too thoroughly for,... wounds. He grins at June, then notices Nebibit and blushes crimson beneath his dark fur.

"Good job Neb. Charging in like that." He offers with a shy feline grin. He looks like he is about to say something else, but looks around instead.

"I am not bleeding, but that phantom's touch did something. And it hurt." He says, indicating the greyed patches of fur where the creature had touched him. His movements seem more, furtive, somehow. Unsure, maybe. The forcefulness of personality he had evidenced while glowing with his light spell no longer in evidence.
"And I swear I can still feel that shadow's touch in my bones." He mutters, unconsciously leaning towards the Lady June.

"I am not wounded; the valiant skills of our own Archmagi to be; Kenembi, as shielded me from all harm." She steps closer to Kenembi; "are you wounded?" and begins gently and perhaps a bit playfully checking Kenembi over for ...wounds.

My hero, she whispers to kenembi, such grace and strength; such arcane mastery. (her eyes shine with admiration and hunger).

Lying in a very graceful; somewhat sexual position upon the sand; Iunius, with a certain shyness; looks up into Kenembi's angry eyes and speaks softly (anyone can her on a dc 12 +2 for every 10 ft distance away)

"Well done my precious magus, we have defeated our first oppenent together; your wonderous arcane strength and my minor distraction (she holds the stare a few seconds in silence....) you should be rewarded, I will see that you are when we have time."

Certainly dear magi,

She turns and makes some cawing sounds

to the Crow:

Spoiler:

She speaks in the language of birds.

"little guide; come, I invite you to tell me your tale; I offer some sweet blueberries and sanctuary for the time of our conversation."

She holds out her arm; like a landing place; and in her other hand she holds out a handful of blueberries.

To Llevenoc but outloud; every can hear it if they wish over the falling water.

"my sister and I need no weapons for who would want to do us harm? surely in the company of so many heroes we are quiet safe no matter what faces us. I have faith; I believe; we shall win out and be successful."

Namaste; how far do you step forward?

to Kenembi close in his ear and expertly done brushing closely:

Spoiler:

Does this Doom they speak of concern you; I know much of such things; I have known another who has survived it. All you need is desire; to desire to live, a strong reason to live, to overcome challenges. Can you think of no strong reason that you want to live, strong enough to not lay down and die? Perhaps if you cannot alone, my small aid could help you.

she brushed very close with most of her body; though it seems unconcious.

Great Magi Kenembi,
my words are unworthy; but I beg you consider them; Thoronhen's words have merit; perhaps you should climb into the cart and be carried hence hidden; perhaps this Doom upon you may be thwarted. I would be glad to be there with you; shield you with my body if need arise.

service is joy, what say you?
