"I'm sure that for as how much it may be amusing to stand by and watch the enevitable transpire, we have a civic responsibility to intervene. And for that, we should go ahead and get our day started," Issceran said promptly, wiping his mouth with a napkin before standing. "Should we be leaving for the estate after the interrogation? Regardless, I need to look over my notes..."

"I fear my appetite is larger than my eyes," the elf murmured early that morning when he awoke and stumbled across the breakfast table. The smell was enough to draw his attention, notably after their long night waiting for their Shoanti friend. He licked his lips and murmured and promptly took a seat. He wasn't one to have a voracious appetite however he felt his work had turned his stomach into a hungering maw you'd see on some otherworldly creature. Nothing good would come out of this, at least in regards to left overs.

The elf nods sagely in agreement of the oral report given to the captain. "What we have on our hands is nothing short of a conundrum; who we reasoned allies in our little hunt have proven to be enemies which may have very well cost us the capture of our suspect," Issceran explained with irritation evident in his voice.

The elf frowned, his attentive eyes looking around them as there was a visible look of thought on his face. "I think we can consider this a victory... There were worse possible outcomes," the wizard reasoned. He nodded sagely and walked over to the gnome. He felt sorry his companion was suffering. "You can hold onto my coat tails until we get back to the headquarters," he offered, trying to show sympathy for his plight. He didn't want to humiliate Rasil but he was sure someone carrying the gnome would damage his ego a bit more.

It happened so fast as his hand flailed out to grab something for support, to catch a ledge or window. He fell fast and he fell hard, hitting the ground in a painful crash. Much like the night, darkness grasped him and he fell unconcious. Blood trickled from his ear, his face and body broken on the cold stone streets. In brief dream-state he envisioned a seraphim touching him and he gasped, coming to. Bruises and broken bones were mended in a wave of divine energy. Left reeling, Issceran grunted and sat up, holding his side as he breathed heavily.

Issceran glanced to Koraq silently before he narrowed his eyes and tried to peer into the night. He leaned forward as music rose up from down the cliffs, creating a soft atmosphere. He rapped his fingers across his sathel before he pushed it from his lap. Sitting up on his haunches, he rolled his knuckles into his hands and licked his lips. He didn't know what was out there, he wasn't the one that could see in the dark.

"A long night," the elf commented, his eyes alert as he watched for their suspect, quiet and attentive. Rolls: Perception 1 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Perception 2 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 Perception 3 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 Perception 4 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Perception 5 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 Perception 6 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 Perception 7 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Perception 8 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 Perception 9 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

The elf climbs up with the rest of his team onto the roof. He offers Simza a hand as they climb up out of the window and onto the roof. Pulling her up alongside his other companions, he settles on top and sighs. "Question: will Mr. Orcbane and Silverclaw be able to climb down and apprehend our friend in time?" He reclined and looked up to the sky as he settled his satchel onto his lap.

While in hindsight he would agree the plan of action he proposed had its flaws, he wouldn't be the one to admit that. He just quirked his mouth and folded his arms across his chest. He gently tapped his arm with his hand as he watched and listened, concerned with the dangers of waiting for their suspect. He didn't voice them any further and like Rasil, was curious about what was so special about the safe's alarm.
Male Elf Wizard 1
"I'm just not sure if a direct confrontation here will be ideal," he murmured, beginning to doubt he would give chase at all. "However, as long as we have the fragment then he will have to come to us at one point or another. Besides, what is not to say that his pet will sniff you out even if you managed to hide? And its not necessarily 'if' but when..." The elf returned a smirk at the half-orc, it being hard to tell if it was just a joke or thinly veiled insult - or the truth.

I have Expeditious Retreat, Grease and Detect Magic prepared currently. My proposal: when the shoanti comes to wreck the building, Issceran will draw his attention and wave the fragment and use Detect Magic to draw attention to the validity of the statement. Using Expeditious Retreat, Issceran will get the shoanti to chase him and lead him to an ambush site with a higher movement rate so he won't be outright. This will allow Barin and Koraq to jump him with Issceran, Rasil and Simza offering combat support. Unfortunately, Comprehend Langauges and Mending will likley have no use but Message may be useful. I can use one spell not on my prepared spells list for additional support.
Male Elf Wizard 1
"Which is why I mentioned leaving a message," Issceran said. "What we could do is have myself inform the shoanti once I see him approach that I have the fragment. I do happen to have a handy spell prepared which will easily allow me to outrun the shoanti and his pet. I could lead him right into an ambush where my collegues would be waiting to apprehend him."

"And I doubt our meager salaries will allow us to make the purchase of the artifact," the elf mused as he stroked his chin thoughtfully. He wondered how much a fragment would cost considering two had already went to auction. He nodded sagely in consideration of Simza's words before he began to rap the table with his fingers. "Well then, this is what I propose..." "The fragment is not safe inside of the safe - please, Mr. Bathbone, restrain yourself - so I recommend we ask Mr. Rimblesnuffin here to have good faith in the city and hand the fragment over. What we can then do is leave a message for our good shoanti friend and prepare an ambush, catching him off guard. This should prevent Mr. Rimblesnuffin's shop from being destroyed."
Male Elf Wizard 1
"Personally," Issceran said, "I don't think the fragment is safe. We're dealing with a force that has collapsed two larger buildings. If the blurprints are on file, Mr. Rimblesnuffin, then I don't think your shop or belongings are safe. I don't feel comfortable just waiting here and letting our suspect snatch another piece of the enjoiner."
Male Elf Wizard 1
When Rimblesnuffin and Rasil entered the cafe, Issceran wiped his hands on a napkin and sized up the two gnomes. "Mr. Bathbone," Issceran spoke, "What did you find out at the jewelery shop? I assume your friend there is the owner or an employee?" Sandwiches were prepared for Rasil and Simza while they were investigating the location of the fragment at the shop. He rapped his fingers on the table and reclined in his chair, his mind wandering to their myserious suspect.
Male Elf Wizard 1
Issceran doesn't want to be announcing to the customers at the cafe what they're doing is what he's getting at. "Once Rasil reports back to us, we'll see what he has to say and go from there. I think we have a lead here with the shoanti's appearance not too long ago and the possible location of one of the fragments. I've been wondering if it would be easier if we lured him to us rather than trying to catch him in the act," he spoke, finishing his sandwich and pushing his plate away from himself.
Male Elf Wizard 1
Issceran just looked up to the dwarf after he finished his sandwich. "Lets try not to raise any alarm amongst the locals, he warned, speaking in a hushed tone. "The less they know, the less our rogue shoanti will catch on to us. I think we need to secure the fragment if there happens to be one here. We also need to prepare ourselves for a confrontation. I have other spells I'd prepare for such an encounter. Still, however, do we even know enough about our suspect to rush into said confrontation?" Issceran felt they had a better hand but he still didn't know much about the cards they were facing beyond a lovely serpent. |
