That's why wizards who expect to end up surrounded by monks do well to pick Hurgah as their BFF. Both Moonpate and Hoffenburrow can attest to that. Hurgah may be a bit rough round the edges, but he takes his bodyguard duties very seriously. Those were some crazy cool times we had, Phrip. I love how the experience established Hurgah and Moonpate as a tight buddy team by unspoken agreement.

Holy plot twist, Batman! Just when you think our GM can't possibly be a better storyteller, he pulls something like this. Next you'll be telling us that Michael Kortes does not actually exists and that YOU wrote both modules all along. I, for one, will admit to being completely clueless about our imposter (and blind at that too, it seems). As to unresolved plot twists:

"I guess it's a good thing we made him hand over those potions up front. Then again, we're inside a magically sealed pyramid. How far can they expect to run?" Hurgah rumbles wryly. He does not appear inclined to give chase.

Hurgah remains perfectly still, never taking his eyes off the other half-orc. Every muscle in his body is taut and primed to spring into action. Readied action to charge and grapple Hrokon, entering rage along the way, if Hrokon moves any further or takes offensive action of any sort. If charging is not an option, Hurgah still has enough move to reach him with a move action.
Male Half-orc Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 4 / Sorcerer 1/Dragon Disciple 3
Hurgah's eyes snap to the hastily retreating Hrokon. "Hold it, Tough Guy. I'm not in the mood to chase you, but I will if I have to. And I still owe you for the poison bolt." he growls in a tone that does not invite argument. "And Hal, cut out that foolishness before I take away that axe and use it to shave your beard off. If you want something broken, let Karek do it." he snaps, never taking his eyes off Hrokon. Yup, I think it's safe to say Hurgah is getting pretty fed up with being stuck in this pyramid without anyone with the guts to stand up and fight a honest fight. All this milling about and double crossing is clearly rubbing him the wrong way.

Future Breach is just one of the many, many reasons this campaign rocks. Awesome stuff, Beetle. Now, before we wander off in random directions, it might be wise to wait and give Breach a chance to relay to the rest of us what he has been chatting with himself about.

Hurgah strides over, picks up the burnt and broken remains if the spell-sniping assassin and casually snaps his neck. Then he picks up the wand rifle, slings it alongside his axe and proceeds to search the dead Sceptre. Guess I'll save my hero point for when we run into Suekhan again.

Even as he shrinks down to normal size, Hurgah moves through the now fairly crowded chamber to the hallway leading to the stairs. "We can't have that dungheap hurling spells at our backs while we fight that devil. Stand clear." As soon as he is clear of any of of his allies, he stops and calls down towards the stairs: "I promised you'd taste the fires of vengeance, assassin, and you're not done yet! With that, Hurgah inhales deeply, then exhales. The hallway turns into a furnace as white-hot flames roar from Hurgahs mouth. Breath weapon, 30 foot cone, DC 14 Reflex half: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1) = 8

Pact Stone GM wrote: Sounds like we'll need an updated map then - I might need until the weekend - sorry guys! I more or less just need to know if there are any friendlies within 20-30 feet of the area where Breach noticed something. As far as I can see from the various posts, almost everyone are clumped together down around the tube. The only one I'm a bit uncertain about is Xerissa, and maybe Lydia and Donkor, but they seem to have tagged along with Breach. So, the main question is if Hurgah can get a clear 30 foot long line of fire that includes the area where we think Sceptre is. And when I say line of fire, I mean it pretty literally.

Hurgah turns to see where Breach is pointing. "The assassin wizard is who got cooked. Then he vanished from sight. Where is he?" If Hurgah can move somewhere close to where Breach is pointing and still have a standard action left, he will come off delay.

Despite the little incident with the poisoned crossbow bolt, the pair of you have not managed to place yourselves quite as high on my personal s+&$ list as Sceptre and that Hell-spawned reptile-face. See that you keep it that way, and we'll see where the chips land once those two have been sufficiently dealt with. Hurgah growls to the fallen half-orc, while peering intently up the tube.

Halstadt/Beetle:
Yup, Hrokon is currently above Sceptre. With any luck, he will slip and hit Sceptre, doing just enough falling damage to drop him the last bit into negative hp in the process. Now, wouldn't that be something? Hurgah lets out a roar of triumph as the floating assassin burns even further. He turns to Moonpate, a feral grin on his face. "Come, friend, and help us burn this coward with the flames of vengeance. He will spend his last few seconds regretting he ever crossed Moonpate the Potentate and Hurgah the Reaver!"

My bad, your calculations seem to be correct. Fortunately, Sceptre was still close enough for a taste of Hurgah pay-back. Also, sadly, Hurgah don't really do Spellcraft. Never did have the smarts for the more theoretical side of the arcane arts. Hurgah smiles a feral smile as the assasin is burned by his own weapon, his piercing stare holding the promise of further pain. Yeah, I can't really fault Sceptre for fleeing TOWARDS a pincer-armed devil in order to get away from Hurgah. Seems like the smart move. Spying the crawling figure, Hurgah says Hey halfling, looks like your big buddy decided to join us anyway. He looks like he's about to take the fast route down, though.

Hurgah fixes his gaze on the arcane assassin's hated wand rifle, then barks a phrase in draconic. In an instant, the metal parts of the rifle superheat, filling the tube with a white glow. Sceptre suddenly finds himself with less than half a second to contemplate a very unpleasant choice: drop his precious weapon, or face smoldering burns on both hands. Burning disarm: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 2, 1) + 5 = 16 - DC 14 Ref save to drop the rifle and take no damage.

My copy arrived a couple of days ago, and is sitting among my other Pathfinder books, waiting patiently for us to finish. The temptation to go and read it is about Succubus-level, but simply leafing briefly through it to make sure none of the pages had gotten wet while it was sitting in the mail box revealed several spoilers, so it will stay there until we finish.

Ref save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 And just like that, area of effect spells just got a lot more scary. On the flip side, channeling energy to several members of the pool ought to boost the pool way more than just healing a single member. This thing will definitly require some adjustment to the Dune Squad tactics. Devil or no devil, no-one gets to shoot Hurgah the Reaver full of electricity twice and live to brag about it. Furious, Hurgah dumps Xaven on the floor and rushes back to the firefly relief, intent on taking the bug elevator up the tube.

On the other hand, if Hurgah had made a coup-de-grace against him, we would likely all have died.

Holy handgrenade, Pactstone!! This certainly is a gamechanger. Absolutely brilliant. And now you have me wondering if Hrokon somehow knows more than we do, or if he was just making bluster that happened to be very true.
