oh. is it done already? I was about to submit a barbarian.

Oh. Answers for Carabas

1. He's lived in Varisia all his life but it's safe to assume this is a visit to Korvosa.
2. Maestro of the Society, cause he's a Pathfinder, and Vagabond Child because he grew up beside thieves.
3. skill monkey and magic support

It's all in the background I typed in.

BACKGROUND WITH ANSWERS
Carabas, named after a winter star, is the second son of a thieves' guild master. His father envisioned a long an prosperous life ahead of him as a brigand. However, his life didn't end up there as he was a devoted reader. Thus, Carabas is the embarrassing misfit of the family.

For the longest time, Carabas assumed he would spend his life under stories and education, supporting himself as a professional storyteller to those who were entertained by the art. This soon bored him and he realized he needed a more productive and adventurous life. He wanted to live like the people he read about. After some time, he found himself signing up as a Pathfinder and receiving basic training despite his old age.

His travels and his journal have led him to Korvosa, where he hopes to find an interesting story. If accepted, Carabas will take a skill front and ranged and magic support.

You've caught my interest, good sir. What languages do you recommend?

I need to bow out as well

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Can I do things like apply weapon finesse or boar style to natural attacks?

oh. cause Dwarves have a multitude of anti-type racial traits, so I didn't know which ones to pick.

About Tropical

Being an Oracle, she's going to have a good charisma score, so she could work as a mate. (no guys. no. stop being gross.)

I'm still deciding whether or not she'll be a rage prophet or not.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

First off, wrong forum. I believe this should be in gamer life or Pathfinder advice.

I have 3 theories to your question

The first is that of storytelling. People like characters, and origin is where it's at. This applies to me, but I'm sure it applies to others as well.

Next, higher levels are boring. It ends up being focused on what you can do rather than why you do it. You become a superhero with disregard to surroundings. This is why E6 was invented.

Third, a lot of people in the forums are new to tabletop and join because they can't find any enthusiast clubs around. A 1st-level game has the least rules and planning, so it captures a wider market.

GM:

He had been a citizen of Ustalav for decades, growing with the human culture, being adopted by them, growing the name Jimmy as humans became accustomed to him and vice versa as a pet would receive a name from its master. Adopting these same human traits, Jimuel ended up naming his pet scorpion Skipper. His story with Kyonin is supposed to be kept a myster, but I plan to later reveal his rejection of life there and his distaste for their arrogance. The crusade of Lastwall reached his ears as it did to many Ustalavians, however he did not decide to join this crusade due to its sadistic nature. However when word got to him about the defense of Castle Firrine, he decided to trek there himself to help the people he grew up with.

Ever since Jimuel arrived at Ustalav 50 years ago from the borders of Numeria with nothing but a book on his hands and his eyes on the book, he has always been known as an odd lad, as odd as elves could be. He is friendly and eager to help around, but also shy and soft spoken, often hiding from new people and not saying much other than a few words. Although he loves to smile and make friends, not much people know about him, due to him never being able to open up. He has the naivety of a child but the intelligence of a philosopher, quite knowledgeable in many fields and also a practitioner of magic. He is a lost puppy.

He joins the defense as an act of friendship, treating it much like helping the bartender stack his crates or helping the little girl retrieve her kitten stuck in a tree, and brings with him his faithful pet scorpion, Skipper.

Yeah. I think there's enough RP that goes around that Paizo should add a preliminary role-play subforum in the online campaigns

People get upset when it's at the recruitment thread. Recruitment is recruitment. RP is RP. But I'm not stopping you.

I have one more question. What enemies are you guys expecting?

rough summary on the roles taken please.

Jonas Emeric of Issia knew little of his parents. His mother died of labor and his father had not spent much time at home as he fought before he died in battle while Jonas was still at a young age. All he knew was that he descended from the Garess clan. It was for this fact that he was taken into foster care beside his more prestigious distant cousins, Vlad, Athyra, and Tiassa Garess. It was through this that sparked Jonas' unreciprocated love for Athyra, but it was Tiassa that was mad about him, to the point of taking advantage of Jonas during one of his drunken stupors. When Athyra was announced to be married to Lord Breffean Medyved, Jonas challenged him to a duel, despite his inexperience and weakness. The battle resulted to a massive scar on Jonas' back, but the boy was allowed to live through the plea of Athyra. He was allowed to stay until he was well enough to travel back to Issia. On the night of his departure, he snuck up on the Medyved during his sleep and bludgeoned him on the neck with a sledge hammer, fueled by anger and rage. He left and never returned, for the agony of his shame, both from battle and love, were too excruciating. He spent his days after refining his skill, taking a maul as his weapon as defiance against Breffean. But more so, he learned to hide his anger with a smile.

I forgot to ask about traits. Do we get those?

Thanks! I'll build him now

oh right. I forgot to detail my entry. I'll get back to you on that in a bit.

//EDIT//

Dante, the scarred witch doctor:
It is true that there was no other black sheep that could beat Corvina, for she had the help of her mother. However as much as an outcast she was, nobody played the game of a stranger as Dante Allende. Corvina was outwardly mocked, but no one payed attention to Dante. He was the perfect wallflower. He was invisible. He would just be that boy that would walk around town and sometimes come with new scars. But nobody bothered. He was a piece of furniture to the town.

However, nobody knew why his scars were there, nor did they give any drive to rumor about them. In truth, every time Dante had scarred himself, a spell was learned. He had discovered how to channel magic through his skin and blood, and only Corvina knew about them. It was for this reason they became friends. For Dante had someone he could confide to, and Corvina had someone that reminded her of her own mother.

Decided to write something short this time round. XD

it seems like you have a well rounded party. May I ask what the general build/battle role of each character is and what the build/role of the lost character was?

Thinking of an Orc Barbarian or Fighter who was abandoned by Belzken during his childhood and was raised by a Mendevian woman.

Cousin of mine. Anyways, before we prolong the OOC, I'll just say that I'll tell him the game's still running. He felt bad that he needed to leave it.

Whitescale... like Squawk's old game Whitescale?

yeah. he'd just be known as a kid who hangs out with Corvina and cuts himself. By the way, in terms of this campaign, what IS coming-of-age? like what age group is that?

Hold on. If the party ends up as a bunch of outcasts, I'll probably make something less... part-of-the-herd.

Would it be better then if I take a scarred witch with a human? That would be a bit out of Paizo's rules but it would be better fluff-wise. The idea would be like someone that could relate to Corvina (being similar to her mom) and since the idea is people coming of age (depending on your religion, that's 11-21) the age difference wouldn't be that much. But way before he/she befriended her, he/she'd take solace in hobbies the village would call odd. He'd make friends with the friendlier faces of town that don't prejudice him but would ultimately be sent on the mission as a bullying scheme.

May I play an orc? or at least play the scarred witch doctor? (like are you ok with me playing this archetype without the prerequisite race?)

also traits?

Aasimar. The background is at the 5th message of this page

you missed mine.

Mimosa "Tropical" Rubesco
Dual-Cursed Oracle

Aasimar Gnome? Now that's interesting.

yeah... the characters usually wrap around the campaign premise. not the other way around. XD

interesting, but I'd like to see a full premise before being completely interested.

what books are allowed for character creation?

thanks anyways :)

Mimosa "Tropical" Rubesco
Aasimar Dual-Cursed Battle Oracle (Haunted/Tongues)

History:
The eldest daughter of Jhereg Rubesco — a well respected blacksmith of the Grandbridge district of Oppara — Mimosa was the picture of a normal young girl with a normal life at a normal place and time. In love with storybooks and the fanciful tales that come with them, Mimosa dreamed of a life of adventure and excitement, away from the arrogant hunter Teckla Silvan who has been pestering her with constant romantic advances. When she learned that her childhood friend and Teckla's older brother Iorich was hired for an expedition, she begged both him and her father to let her go as well. The expedition was to find ruins of a fabled storm giant pirate crew. If accepted, Mimosa would be put in dangerous and unpredictable positions for many months and possibly years. Jhereg, fearing the safety of his precious only daughter, was loathe to agree to the request. However, the week before Iorich's departure, Mimosa's mother Issola had convinced Jhereg to think otherwise, telling him about their daughter's ambitions and independence, and showing him her drawings of various landscapes. In the end, he accepted, allowing Mimosa to go with the expedition team on the agreement that Iorich does all that he can to ensure Mimosa's safety — much to her personal elation and delight.

However, Mimosa's joy was short lived, as there was an incident right before the expedition. When Iorich invited Mimosa to go with him for last-minute shopping, the two happened to see a great plume of smoke to the direction of their houses. When they run towards the commotion, they realize that Mimosa's home had burned down due to a forging accident, and both she and Iorich decided to stay. In the end, the Rubescos did not survive. Mimosa was devastated and ran around town to search for answers of life's questions only to be found and comforted by Iorich. Out of love and pity, the Silvans fostered Mimosa alongside Teckla and Iorich. It was here where she earned the nickname "Tropical" (a reference to her warmth and sunburnt skin) and it was also there that she fell in love with Iorich Silvan. He did not reciprocate her affections (he loved her, but as a sister), but Teckla, on the other hand, was infatuated with her, going as far as to take advantage of her after she had too much to drink in misery of her lost family – a secret kept up to now. When it was announced that Iorich was to be betrothed to to Athyra Lemblont, Mimosa was enraged anne challenged her to a duel, forgetting society's rules upon gender, and believing her adventurous spirit would be enough based on the stories of bravery and chivalry she had read. She only just escaped the duel with her life and shame. Iorich had stopped the fight upon discovery, and it was only as such that Athyra had spared Mimosa's life, although she was left with a sword-begotten scar that ran through her back. She was sent away as soon as she was well enough to travel, but Teckla had secretly provided her a house — first of a multitude of acts that had led to Mimosa's forgiveness and acceptance of his friendship.

A year after, news of another expedition had reached Grandbridge. This time, it was Teckla who had been invited and Mimosa agreed to come with him, honeyed by his sweet words and her own desperate desire for adventure. Having proven her ease and hard work, she was well-respected by the expedition team of which she became an indispensable member. Anything she could do, she did, and anythings she couldn't was recognized and passed on right away. In the process, she slowly began gaining allies and friends within the team from the captain, to the navigator, down to the keeper of the animals. This was, however a popularity that was concealed well as a mutual friendship rather than honor and regality.

Directly prior to the events of Skulls and Shackles, the team stopped by a tavern called the Formidably Maid at Port Peril and was knocked unconscious by both poisoned drink and assault from thugs. Before waking up, Mimosa received a dream of Teckla taking the form of Asmodeus and speaking to her. She begins the campaign with strange new powers that may have originated from this nightmare, although some seem celestial rather than infernal (she has no knowledge of her Aasimar descent and this is the first time it shows itself). The rest of the expedition team are nowhere to be found and memories of them from anyone other than Mimosa have mysteriously withered away.

It's still a thought. but yeah. that's my only idea other than vanilla bard. Weighing out the options. What would you choose for me?

The utility is that I change the weapon proficiency to something still ok, and I get rid of my knowledge-based abilities and sound-based resistances (anyways not much sound based enemies at low levels, unless you pit us against a band of bards) for a much better bardic performance and a good set of feats. This ties in with Charlton being a scholar of charm and suggestion.

lol no. I just asked about the LG thing. I'm making something now. I just type really long backgrounds, personalities, and appearances. this might take a while.

cool. I'll check out the SNS Player guide now. I also like how you're giving everyone equal gold. that tiny difference makes a lot at level 1, and makes Paladins into kings with both good starting stuff and money.

wow. no lawful good but all evils allowed. that's new.

also does this mean all Pathfinder Companion and Chronicles archetypes are out of the question?

Joana, would the Lotus Geisha archetype be ok? Fluff doesn't match, but the mechanics fit perfectly to the character's being.

Replied. Thanks for the concern. :)

Hey Joana, is it ok if I give Charlton the Lotus Geisha archetype? It's kinda funny giving it to a non-Tien male character, but it fits him so well.

thanks for taking time to read my app. If I had known you wanted pre-game RP, I would have.

Charlton Lawrence Mathewson Chase, the bard.

Background:
Charlton Lawrence Mathewson Chase, named after a very famous Varisian actor, was born in Olfden, Andoran on Desnus 28, 4683 to the Mwangi-descended middle-class family of wrestling-instructor Randal Chase and Taldan language teacher Monette Chase. The family soon moved to Ridonport, Taldor, where he lived together with his older brother, Albert, and his younger brother, Jared. Born into a conservative home, he was raised as a worshipper of Iomedae as was traditional for his family, although he describes himself as indecisive between atheism and agnosticism.

Randall and Monette, as much as they loved their sons, could not reserve time in their schedules to take care of their children. Pay was low and cost of living was high, so overtime was needed and normal. As a result, Albert was given a lot of responsibility at a young age, and at times had to act as a parental figure to his brothers, who were not really much younger than him. Even though the boys had their urges to fool around, their upbringing forced them to learn responsibility faster than most of their friends. They would do their schoolwork and play games like normal kids, but they would also need to take out trash and do laundry even during their younger years. This also led them to be distant and rebellious towards their parents, however, they understood why their parents were never around, especially Charlton, who from a young age, could easily sympathize with people no matter how much of strangers they were.

As a third result of this hectic upbringing, time-management was forced upon the children. At times, Charlton needed to skip tutoring to take care of Jared or any important responsibilities that had been left. However, as time flew, the boys were able to keep a tight schedule with minimal trouble – but as all tight schedules, something had to go. For Albert and Jared, it was sleep. Charlton, however, gave up his social life – a decision that would lead to bullying up to secondary school, which was mostly for answers in math and Taldan tests, the former of which, he was good at, and the latter due to his mom's occupation

When Charlton entered Ridonport High, his family decided that enough was enough. In order to reduce the bullying, Albert took on a part-time job at a local tavern to help his parents with the finances, while they help with the responsibilities of the house. This would free enough time for Charlton to improve his social life and for Jared to get more sleep. As a natural social butterfly, Charlton exceeded expectations. He joined the chess and basketball teams, participated in debates, and even joined a minstrel group called Kings of Ridonport as a lutist. Following his graduation, he enrolled in Rhapsodic College through scholarship in 2001, where he decided to further his social skills. He majored in psychology with a focus on subconscious diplomacy, while taking various workshops on finance and management. He graduated with the Batch of 4700 with honors.

Despite his prestigious graduation, Charlton was in desperate need for money. Jobs that had openings considered him overqualified, and he had to support his parents as well – something all three brothers had to do until their father cashed-in stock investments in the Lion Blades a few years after. Charlton took many odd jobs, such as Junior Analyst in a relatively new and eccentric asylum, a trial in competitive Marbles, to the role of a tengu mascot for birthday parties. In 2006, Charlton's life changed for the better as he moved to Oppara to work for White Hall as an junior accounts manager by referral of a college friend. He takes care of accounts worth less than ten thousand gold receives a more than decent salary.

With his new income, Charlton moved to a townhouse unit in Aroden's View, where he met his neighbor, Rosaline Smith, and her friend, Elysia Rockford – daughter to a major Lion Blade investor –, both of which are college students who decided to take traditional schooling for the social aspect of it. Although this union would have probably gone for the worst, the responsible and paternal Charlton, the frequently impulsive Rosaline, and the neighborhood cosplayer Elysia became great friends. Charlton's close relationship with two girls much younger than him has been reason of confusion to his family, which shall only worsen if ever they realize that their relationship is more familial then friendly. As the years passed, the three have changed each other, balancing one's negative traits by slowly empathizing into another's positive traits.

He is currently at Riddleport on business.

Personality:
Charlton is a high-spirited and optimistic character, much to the levels of a heart-felt romantic. This does not mean, however, that he is blind to the world's problems. It's just more productive to be happy and hopeful. He has the willpower of a turtle and understands that this hope can become contagious if done right, and encourages others to push forward and run the race, no matter how low the situation may seem. He believes not only in himself, but the abilities of others as long as a hint of drive is there. When he realizes this promise, he is quick to picking up this person and pushing him or her to their greatest limits. Because of this, Charlton works better with others. He will run neither behind or in front of you, but beside you where he is needed the most.

Charlton is easily excitable and tends to be dramatic towards his actions. He'll retaliate at you when you've done something horribly stupid, shout and curse when shocked, tell you if he's scared and ask if you are too, ask you to join him to a burger run if he's hungry, and boast loudly if his pride calls for it. However, there are times that he zones off of this personality – similar to a "work safe" switch. When in this mode, he is still gestural, but more concealed and attains a more classical definition of the word "charming."

Anyone that knows Charlton knows that he is a geek. As you enter his home, you will be greeted by numerous paraphernalia of old stage plays, all beautifully displayed: from replicas of Alkenstar-theater props, to an exact copy of Thesing Umbero Ulvano's outfit from The Six Trials of Lazarod. Many of his heroes come from old plays of the mystery, horror, or action genre, and he often puts himself in the mindset of these characters to prep himself for upcoming troubles and would even make references of them from time to time. His geekery does not keep solitaire to movies though, as Charlton is also a game enthusiast. One will easily catch him playing anything from something as tactical as checkers or chess to something as dextrous as fencing or even kickball. He is also into literary games like crossword and riddles, which he got into recently, due to Elysia. Other forms of Charlton's enthusiasm include Mwangi percussions, Taldan strings, and inexpressibly, sandwiches. Known to everyone, Charlton holds a detailed list of Taldor's top sandwich joints, their best selling products, and a map that shows how to pass by each and everyone of these restaurants while spending the least amount of travel possible.

Even though Charlton tries to like everything for the sake of diplomatics, there are certain things that can get on his nerves. One of which are Chelish plays made specifically to disturb and disgust the viewer, especially those that include real death and rape. Charlton gets nauseous quite easily and detests these stronger than the usual person. He also dislikes certain exotic delicacies, such as deer penis, grub worms, and duck fetus, as well as public kissing, creepy crawlies, and female-oriented plays. The last of which is not because he has a male mind-set, but because most of them are horribly written.

Appearance:
Charlton is an Mwangi-Andoran male, standing at 6'0". He has a lean build due to leisurely kickball practice, fencing, and an addiction to competitively playing the lute with his friends. His eyes are dark brown and his hair is black, however he is shaved bald, including his facial hair. His cheekbones are not so deep, his nose is thin but bulbs at the end, his eyebrows are deep-set, his lips are mildly thick, and his chin ends in a soft cleft. He is usually seen in courier's attire unless the event is spectacularly casual, or he is out for a morning jog. He is seen in different-colored clothing, however they are all of solid color.

Charlton retains the Mwangi accent of his father, as do his brothers. Charlton rarely modulates this unless he is speaking a different language or imitating someone else as part of a joke.

Sorry if there's a mistype. I converted this from an RP character that used real-world places, dates, and activities.
