History:
Heraguv's story is more a story of his father than himself, You see, Heraguv's father was a minor Lord in Ustalav who made his fame as a knight by scouring the land of Orcs. Like most in Ustalav, Lord Meneskus believed that they were a blight that had to be wiped out. However, Lord Meneskus wanted an heir more than anything, and as he approached middle age, despite having multiple wives along the way (divorcing when after several barren years), none had ever born him a child. After his last wife died bearing a stillborn child in desperation Lord Meneskus turned to a Varisian fortuneteller who told him that no human woman would ever bear him a living son. At first he fell into a depression, but eventually his depression turned into a wild idea. The fortune teller said no human woman would ever bear him a son, but what about a non-human child. At first he thought of the elves, but knowing their frail constitutions he had no desire to waste years in courting only to have nothing come of it. Thus his eyes turned towards the Orcs. After years of campaigning for their utter annihilation he knew that if his plan became known to the general public that his reputation would be ruined, thus he gathered only his most loyal and trusted vassals and set off on an expedition into the harshest mountains where he knew orcs still claimed territory. However, this time when he captured a small village rather than slaughter them as usual he made a deal. In exhange for tribute being sent into the mountains once a month, the orcs would halt raiding and exchange one female who would stay with lord Meneskus until she bore child, after which she would be returned to the Orc tribe.
The Orc Tribe agreed and selected one of their female warriors to accompany Lord Meneskus back. The female (Orac) agreed to save her clan and traveled with lord Meneskus back to his home. Lord Meneskus plan worked and the female quickly became with child. But something happened that neither of them expected, although at first both held a mutual distaste for each other, as the child grew within her belly Lord Meneskus, so desperate for a child turned into a doting and caring caretaker for the female, who although at first detesting the soft living of the pink skins, slowly came to enjoy it, and with it she found herself starting to care for the man who was so doting in his care for her. Much to Lord Meneskus surprise he grew to look past her race as well, and by the time Heraguv was born, his parents were already wed in a secret ceremony within his manner.
Heraguv Meneskus thus grew up in secret in his family's manner, his parents teaching him. Named for both his mother's clan and his fathers line he actually has no real first name, Heraguv is the orc clan of his mother. His father taught him of knighthood and chivalry and the responsibilities of lordship, and his mother of survival, and how to use his anger and ferocity in combat. Private tutors would be summoned and it was one such that Heraguv grew particularly fond of professor Petros Lorrimor. As the years passed his father slowly started letting his son be known in his territory, His people started to accept the strange union and Heraguv started to be welcome as an up and coming squire. That all ended however when one day his mother went to market and a traveling merchant, unfamiliar with the ladies status, mocked and insulted her. It only took seconds but her Orcish rage boiled over and before she regained herself the man lied dead at her feet, his throat torn out by her bear hands. Lord Meneskus attempted to cover up his wifes misdeeds and probably would have gotten away with it, however Heraguv having been raised to so thouroughly believe in honor and chivalry and law could not accept the cover up. He wrote to authorities in Caliphas who sent members of Lord Meneskus's knightly order to deal with the crime. Heraguv told his father what he had done, his father forgave Heraguv, told his wife to flee (knowing that as an Orc she would be killed for her crimes and that the penalty was unavoidable) and as the knights approached the castle Lord Meneskus settled his affairs with his lawyers and hung himself.
Although Heraguv was rightful heir, he blames himself for his fathers death and has thus taken an oath that he shall not return to his lands to rule until he has attoned for his faults in battle and restored the now tarnished Meneskus name. Although he set up a vassal-lord and maintains regular correspondance, which is how he learned of the Professor's death and has subsequently headed to Ravengro.

Okay, it's up. I went with the banded mail and gave it a Roman Legionary look and kept the Lammasu simple as I had a little trouble fitting it properly on the shield.

Heraguv Meneskus.

I love it, it's really good work, I wonder why I'm holding my pick upside down :P no seriously this is so great I'm going to e-mail the pick to my DM thank you so much.

Cool... I love doing home improvement stuff! Way to go CJack!

Bleh, fine, then you can come do all my work!

;-)

My game is tonight, I would love to be able to show them a picture of myself. I understand if you get too busy though, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'll let you know as we get there, this is my playtest report thread.

Okay so I have had no luck with image searches and I suck at drawing, so I am going to ask whomever is interested in this board. My character is a Half-Orc Paladin. He is muscular in build wears banded mail (will eventually be plate so if you want to draw him in plate mail feel free) wielding a masterwork dwarven heavy pick and his shield bears the image of a Lamasu in flight. He wears a spellbook on his belt that is actually a journal. If someone would be willing to draw that please say so, I'll take whomever will draw it, my preference is for realistic drawings over cartoony, but like I said I will happily accept any takers so feel free to use whatever style you prefer.

More info about me can be found in my profile
