Stabbed by a shortspear, and being ripped to shreds by the sharp teeth, Heinrich lets out a final, gutteral scream, and then falls silent.
Thanks for the good times everyone, it was a great first-time play-by-post! Go Blue team! I'm with you in spirit!
Reflex save vs. burning hands (1d20+5=9) Heinrich takes 4 points of damage and is on fire
Heinrich attempts to stand up to face Garash again, using all the defensive training he's ever received, he attempts to stand up to face Garash again.
Standard action: Total defense (AC 20)
Move action: Stand up from prone (provokes AoO from Garash and Bitey)
Finally: Take a 5-ft step away if not dead.
Bleeding profusely and burnt in several places, Heinrich is dragged to the ground by Garash's companion. Feeling that the end is nigh, he closes his eyes and says to himself:
"I always knew this day would come. I'd just hoped that it would not be this soon."
Invisible castle is down, so I need a STR check rolled to see whether or not I fall prone, which is 1d20+3. Thanks, O Arenamaster!
Damn, you're absolutely right! I'm really sorry about that, I'll 5-ft step 5 feet directly away from Garash to L9 if that's alright with everyone. Again, sorry!
Reflex save vs. burning hands (1d20+5=18)
Suprised at the burst of flames from Nilgaar's fingertips, Heinrich still manages to barely avoid the worst of the fire.
"Alright! Looks like the cavalry's coming!"
Using his final trick to slow down his opponents, Heinrich attempts to trap Garash's scimitar in the protusions of his ranseur to disarm him. (+8 attack bonus, +4 improved disarm, +2 ranseur, +4 two-handed weapon for a total of +18 to the disarm attempt, it does not provoke AoO since Heinrich has Impr. Disarm)
Disarm attempt against Garash (1d20+18=33)
Aside: Damn these virtual dice love me. I wish I could roll half as good in real life.
Seeing the opening in his opponents defenses after his charge, Heinrich prepares to strike a mighty blow to Nilgaar. (Power Attack for -2 attack, +4 damage)
1d20+6=19, 2d4+8=14
Heinrich's aim is true, and he lets out a yell of triumph as he draws blood for the first time in this battle.
He smiles slightly, enjoying how the momentum of this battle is swinging in his team's favour. The smile disappears quickly, however, when he spots the enormous centipede emerging from the arena doors.
Dryly: "Another complication. Excellent."
Finally, Heinrich readjusts himself, stepping back in order to present a more united front with his allies. (5ft. step to L8).
EDIT: Oops, forgot to add in the bonus from Magic Weapon, it should have been 2d4+9 damage, not 2d4+8, so the correct total of damage is 15.
Upon seeing Spartacus downed, Heinrich lets out a resounding cheer, and throws his fist in the air, hoping for crowd support. Emboldened by the current good fortune, he moves at a good clip along the arena floor, anxious to engage his opponents.
Hustle over to square M7.
Reflecting the moment required to clamber over the low wall, Heinrich is actually only in square E7.
"All right, I've had enough of this ranged combat."
Heinrich drops his bow (free action), then gets over the low wall and walks down to F6 while drawing his ranseur (move action). Finally, he stands in a defensive posture (total defense), waiting for any member of the red team to engage in melee (standard action).
"Come on! Let us begin the real combat!"
I'm not quite sure how I get over the low wall, whether I can just move over it, or if I have to make a Climb or Jump check of some sort. Let me know, and I will roll or adjust my movement accordingly.
I think Spartacus should be unconscious, right? He has 10 nonlethal damage and only 6 hit points left. So since his NL damage is grater than his current HP, he's unconscious, I believe.
Taking Logan's advice to heart and hoping for the best, Heinrich stands up to get a clear view, then nocks his Sleep Arrow into his bow, aiming for the mounted warrior who is fast approaching.
Firing at Spartacus:
1d20+6=19, 1d8+4=10
The arrow deals nonlethal damage, and forces a DC 11 Will save or fall asleep.
If I recall correctly, he can make a Ride check to use his mount as cover, I think. If that is the case, does my arrow hit the horse instead?
To Logan: "I'll keep an eye out, perhaps an opportunity will present itself!"
Upon seeing the death of the spectator: "MIKE!!!"
Looking over to Jathali: "You! You shall pay for what you've done to Mike!"
Heinrich takes cover behind the low wall next to Logan, and grabs a second bottle from his belt, this one containing a viscous oil which he slathers all over the point of his Ranseur, which then begins to shimmer slightly.
Upon hearing Vanin's call, he smiles at Logan and Rurin,
"Somehow, I think this will turn out alright."
No problem, I'll wait my turn this time... no jumping the gun, heh.
Heinrich stands next to Logan, awaiting with anxiety for the doors to open. He listens to the crowd and closes his eyes, becoming focused.
He takes a swig from the small bottle that was attached to his belt, grimacing as it goes down.
"I'm as ready as I'll ever be."
I won't be able to post again until tonight at approx. 8PM Eastern, I'll be on the road all day, then I will have no trouble posting regularly.
EDIT: Forgot to put my starting square: B9
