Haruuc turns to the others and whispers loudly, "it is on it's way and from this distance I would say it looks like one of the Living Spells I've heard tell of that live in the Mournland. I can't be sure, but if I had to guess I'd say it was some kind of Illusion."
"We need to get going now if we don't want a battle with it."
As much as will not admit it to the others, the deathly quiet and unnatural state of the ever present mists unnerves Haruuc. He takes his watch in silence, using the time to assess how easily Drexel was with his sudden reappearence. Maybe he had finally backed down. He shakes his head and a chuckle ascapes his lips, sounding almost like an explosion in the unearthly silence. OK I'm back. Sorry guys. I basically had a combination of a metric buttload of Take Home work, then got sick and the low/apathy of Superstar finally hit me. I am back now and apologise for not posting Stealth Check. Haruuc spends the time skulking around out in the storm watching the lightning play through the atmosphere.
After Drexel's attempts to usurp his leadership of the party, he has been even less talkative with the remainder of the party than normal. He has made his case and if the others decide to follow Drexel's obviously flawed leadership then he will simply follow along, doing what he believes is right while still following the party's goals. Haruuc looks at Drexel and Ur-Kaim carefully.
No Offense taken, I know it's all RP. Looks like Ur-Kaim has sided with Drexel... I wonder who I can drum up onto my side? ;) Ur-Kaim wrote: We should skirt the stone, the denith mercenary has troops there and we should avoid them. Haruuc snorts loudly. "Humph, why should we need to skirt the Stone. It is our land and we are superior to the pink skins. But if the rest of you are scared of them then we will scurry around it like rhysh." He snorts again before pointedly going back to bed. The word means Rats. I made it up so feel free to totally ignore it and assume he said Rats. :) Haruuc walks over and kicks the large Scorpion, smelling the tang of ozone and charred flesh around it. He lets the others prepare the meal, both watching them work and keeping a lookout for more trouble. Once the work is done, he says "finish getting your rest. Today we reach the Gathering Stone and from there the hard part of the journey begins."
Invisible Castle is down, so I rolled the old fashioned way. Hope you don't mind. Seeing the large Scorpion fall, Haruuc turns his attention to the remaining smaller Scorpions. He dismisses the one going for the wolf and of the remaining targets he sees the Hobgobin as more worthy to save than the Goblin, so he targets the one moving towards Ur-Kaim.
Haruuc hears Drexel's warning and is instantly awake, a testament to being on patrol.
I'm happy for you to roll. Makes it easy when slow arses like me hold us up... Haruuc politely declines the man's offer and as they part, he spurs his horse forward. Not looking back, he trusts the others to be watching and wishes to appear as if they are beneath his notice, he instead watches Drexel move forward once more to take up point.
Haruuc appears lost in thought for a short time.
Knowledge (Local) Check. (1d20+2=12)
Haruuc bristles and his shoulders expand visually when Drexel orders him what to do. He sees the merit in the plan however and doesn't say anything, prefering to save the slight for later.
Sorry about my scarcity. Been busy writing and brainstorming. =D DM Dhakann wrote: Congratulations to flash_cxxi on making Superstar Top 32! Thanks. I am so over the moon right now. Haruuc chuckles to himself as he reads the Writ of Passage from the Lhesh. He knows that up north and especially amongst the MArguul that it wouldn't be worth the paper it was printed on.
Haruuc has breakfast, making small talk with the others once again, being as short as possible before stepping outside and seeing the Hobgoblin guards.
As Kaega'ko pulls away from him, he bows once more and thumps his fist into his chest "Akesh Dhakann Dirge Singer!". He walks over to the talble and takes his share of the coins 17pp, before turning at Drexel's question. He is about to snap off a retort when the Goblin Barmaid brings out another bottle and so he bites back on his reply. He then turns to address everyone. "Feast and drink well tonight my brethren, tomorrow we set out for the Glory of Dhakaan. We all have a part to play in this quest," he glances at the Goblins, "and we will not fail."
This is basically what he will do. If anyone wants to engage him in conversation feel free. He will respond in short answers. As an Officer he knows no to form friendships with those under his command, but to be short and to the point. Kaega'ko - NPC wrote:
Haruuc does not present his papers as asked. Kaega'ko knows who he is and so he is confident in his place within the proceedings. He responds to Kaega'ko's statement with an answering call. "Akesh Dhakaani!" He then listens intently to what Malach has to say. When Malach is finished he speaks up, "I will carry the name of the Dhakaani with honour as I go forth to complete these tasks and bring back the Glory of Dhakaan." Kaega'ko - NPC wrote: "Surely you've heard of Kaega'ko, Haruuc..." Knowledge (local or history) Knowledge (Local) Check. (1d20+2=6) IC hates me today. :( Surprised by the entrance of the Dirge Singer, Haruuc quickly notices her beauty and smiles. He lowers his hand and steps forward, bowing slighty to show his respect for her position. He glances at the human but pays him no mind, thinking him to be an obvious servant.
Diplomacy Check. (wasn't sure whether to add +2 because she knows my noble status?) (1d20+7=10) Well that's not what I hoped for... Haruuc stops as the Bugbears come stomping through the door. His eyes narrow as he sees the axes in their hands and ready for action.
DM Dhakann wrote: Everyone who's playing a hobgoblin from the mountain Dhakaan tribes, add a spoiler with how you feel about the Lhesh Haruuc, is he a strong leader? Do you want to usurp his power and lead the nation yourself? Would you like to be the Heir Apparent, thus increasing the power of the Dhakaan mountain clans? Spoiler:
The Lhesh Haruuc is a capable leader, and he has certainly taken Darguun into a better age. He is however a commoner as far as Haruuc is concerened (a viewpoint instilled in him by his father and his exposure to the Guard and Ruus Dhakaan).
In his eyes, Ruus Dhakaan is the only Hobgoblin capable of leading Darguun into becoming a new Dhakaani Empire and taking control of a much larger area than Darguun currently occupies.
He sees hmself riding high in this new Empire, not being one of the movers and shakers, but certainly having high standing. The door opens loudly and a tall Hobgoblin strides into the room. He is unmissable in his orange chain shirt and orange mask covering his face.
That's funny, I didn't even realize until you said that and I went and checked...
Here is Haruuc. I still have to fill in some stats (mainly because of Possessions) and the Background/Description, but I'll get that done tonight after I get back from work. Just quickly so you can assign traits:
DM Dhakann wrote: Ok , what specifically do you all WANT from your Dhakaani adventure? I'll get the game started in the way I'm going to, but where do you want it to go? Glory for Dhakaan! Personal Glory and Power (not necessarily wealth, but personal power/notoriety and magic) within the Empire for Haruuc.
