DM Dhakaan:

Spoiler:

I live but for to serve, my (Dungeon) Master! ;)

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc turns to the others and whispers loudly, "it is on it's way and from this distance I would say it looks like one of the Living Spells I've heard tell of that live in the Mournland. I can't be sure, but if I had to guess I'd say it was some kind of Illusion."
Spellcraft Check. (1d20+6=9)
Knowledge (Arcana) Check. (1d20+5=6)
Looks like he really can't be sure what spell it is!

"We need to get going now if we don't want a battle with it."
Just in case though, Haruuc is prepared to let loose a Bolt of Electricity at the Spell if it comes within range of him.
Initiative. (1d20+3=15)

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc can still hear the phantom echoes of his chuckle when suddenly he spies a light coming towards the camp. He quietly sets about rousing the others and telling them in hushed tones to be prepared, pointing the light out to them before moving on to the next.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

As much as will not admit it to the others, the deathly quiet and unnatural state of the ever present mists unnerves Haruuc. He takes his watch in silence, using the time to assess how easily Drexel was with his sudden reappearence. Maybe he had finally backed down. He shakes his head and a chuckle ascapes his lips, sounding almost like an explosion in the unearthly silence.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

OK I'm back. Sorry guys. I basically had a combination of a metric buttload of Take Home work, then got sick and the low/apathy of Superstar finally hit me. I am back now and apologise for not posting

Stealth Check. (1d20+9=16)
Haruuc appears behind Hruskin, lightly tapping him on the arm and making the goblin jump.
He addresses everyone with an air of one who is right about his actions. "After the battle I attempted to see if there were any other dangers in the mists while staying close by. It appears that Morrow may be competent after all. He fought well in the battle with the Metal Men. My Bolt seemed to do nothing and so I prepared to ircle around and attack from the side, but before I could get into position the others fled. This is when I decided to stay hidden and make sure all was well."
He glares at the others, stopping briefly on Drexel, daring any of them to question his actions.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

"We should go around the Town of Death. No good can come from walking it's cursed streets. What say you O Mighty Leader?" He says the last part with an obvious sneer as he mock bows to Drexel.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc spends the time skulking around out in the storm watching the lightning play through the atmosphere.
Stealth Check. (1d20+9=25)

After Drexel's attempts to usurp his leadership of the party, he has been even less talkative with the remainder of the party than normal. He has made his case and if the others decide to follow Drexel's obviously flawed leadership then he will simply follow along, doing what he believes is right while still following the party's goals.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

"Such a mighty leader he is that leads us the wrong way."
He says this to himself, but makes sure it is loud enough for the others to catch.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc snorts, shakes his head and turns his back to the others without a word, going back to his bedroll and falling asleep.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc looks at Drexel and Ur-Kaim carefully.
"Why suspicion? We freely carry a seal saying we are doing bidding of The Lhesh. The mighty Kaega'ko would not have given us such a thing if she thought we would not need it. If the humans are too stupid to see this then it is not our fault and if they have been brought in by The Lhesh then they would also be unwise to challenge his Authority by pursuing us. Anyway, even if some do pursue us, I am confident I can deal with them. I say again if you are afraid then we can go around."

No Offense taken, I know it's all RP. Looks like Ur-Kaim has sided with Drexel... I wonder who I can drum up onto my side? ;)

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Ur-Kaim wrote:
We should skirt the stone, the denith mercenary has troops there and we should avoid them.

Haruuc snorts loudly. "Humph, why should we need to skirt the Stone. It is our land and we are superior to the pink skins. But if the rest of you are scared of them then we will scurry around it like rhysh." He snorts again before pointedly going back to bed.

The word means Rats. I made it up so feel free to totally ignore it and assume he said Rats. :)

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc walks over and kicks the large Scorpion, smelling the tang of ozone and charred flesh around it. He lets the others prepare the meal, both watching them work and keeping a lookout for more trouble. Once the work is done, he says "finish getting your rest. Today we reach the Gathering Stone and from there the hard part of the journey begins."
He lays down and falls back asleep.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Invisible Castle is down, so I rolled the old fashioned way. Hope you don't mind.

Seeing the large Scorpion fall, Haruuc turns his attention to the remaining smaller Scorpions. He dismisses the one going for the wolf and of the remaining targets he sees the Hobgobin as more worthy to save than the Goblin, so he targets the one moving towards Ur-Kaim.
Electrical Blast (Ranged Touch Attack). 1d20+4 (10+4) = 14
Electrical Blast Damage. 1d6 (4) = 4

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc hears Drexel's warning and is instantly awake, a testament to being on patrol.
He leaps to his feet, quickly glancing around to find the enemy and looses an Electrical Blast at the incoming Scorpion. Electricity crackles over it's exoskeleton and the smell of charred flesh wafts its way into everyone's senses.
Electrical Blast (Ranged Touch Attack). (1d20+4=24)
Confirm Critical for Electrical Blast (Ranged Touch Attack). (1d20+4=20)
Critical Damage from Electrical Blast. (1d6=6, 1d6=6)

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

I'm happy for you to roll. Makes it easy when slow arses like me hold us up...

Haruuc politely declines the man's offer and as they part, he spurs his horse forward. Not looking back, he trusts the others to be watching and wishes to appear as if they are beneath his notice, he instead watches Drexel move forward once more to take up point.
After travelling for the rest of the day, they stop to make camp for the night.
We are close to the gathering stone," he announces to the group. "it should be safe to light a fire and cook our meals tonight."

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc appears lost in thought for a short time.
"This banner you describe," he says loudly looking in the direction of Drexel's hiding place, "it sounds like banner of passage granted by the Lhesh. Up north it may not hold much sway, but down here it would be suicide to attempt to attack anyone under it's protection. They most probably have protection of the Lhesh"
He thinks again. "Stay where you are. It may be they killed original bearers and are using it to get into city. They need to make first move to attack, but if they do then hit them hard and kill the point ear first." A smile creeps onto his face, visible beneath his mask, as he says the last statement.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Knowledge (Local) Check. (1d20+2=12)
Knowledge (History) Check. (1d20+2=21)

Haruuc bristles and his shoulders expand visually when Drexel orders him what to do. He sees the merit in the plan however and doesn't say anything, prefering to save the slight for later.
"This is acceptable. You and the Goblin will hide, while the rest of you ride in a scattered formation. I do not want us to be caught in a spell, as the elf," he says the word with a sneer, "is likely a spellcaster."
With that, he moves his horse to the front of the group and waits for the others to comply with his order.

Sorry about my scarcity. Been busy writing and brainstorming. =D

Congratulations to flash_cxxi on making Superstar Top 32!

Thanks. I am so over the moon right now.

Haruuc chuckles to himself as he reads the Writ of Passage from the Lhesh. He knows that up north and especially amongst the MArguul that it wouldn't be worth the paper it was printed on.
He has yet to determine everyone's strengths and weaknesses at this stage and so is content to let the others figure out who should ride point. He moves his horse into position just behind the lead member (not the forward scout, the person leading the group). He goes over his letter and contemplates how best to handle the Mournland as he has no experience in that region.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc has breakfast, making small talk with the others once again, being as short as possible before stepping outside and seeing the Hobgoblin guards.
"Thank you Sergeant. Your men do Darguun proud."
He then makes sure he has everything he needs for a prolonged journey. He comes back and spends the remainder of the time before they depart talking with the Sergeant about threats in the area and possible things they might see and/or meet along their journey to the Mournland.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

As Kaega'ko pulls away from him, he bows once more and thumps his fist into his chest "Akesh Dhakann Dirge Singer!".

He walks over to the talble and takes his share of the coins 17pp, before turning at Drexel's question. He is about to snap off a retort when the Goblin Barmaid brings out another bottle and so he bites back on his reply.

He then turns to address everyone. "Feast and drink well tonight my brethren, tomorrow we set out for the Glory of Dhakaan. We all have a part to play in this quest," he glances at the Goblins, "and we will not fail."
With that he turns to the Barkeep and tells him to bring out the biggest haunch of meat he has got and moves to his own table close to the others to drink and wait for his food. Aftrer the food, he calls over another bottle of the good stuff and gets halfway through it before heading off to bed.

This is basically what he will do. If anyone wants to engage him in conversation feel free. He will respond in short answers. As an Officer he knows no to form friendships with those under his command, but to be short and to the point.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Kaega'ko - NPC wrote:

"From what Malach has indicated, the glory of dhakaan is at stake..."

"Akesh Dhakaani!"

"Listen to what Malach has to say now..."

Haruuc does not present his papers as asked. Kaega'ko knows who he is and so he is confident in his place within the proceedings.

He responds to Kaega'ko's statement with an answering call. "Akesh Dhakaani!" He then listens intently to what Malach has to say.

When Malach is finished he speaks up, "I will carry the name of the Dhakaani with honour as I go forth to complete these tasks and bring back the Glory of Dhakaan."

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Kaega'ko - NPC wrote:
"Surely you've heard of Kaega'ko, Haruuc..." Knowledge (local or history)

Knowledge (Local) Check. (1d20+2=6) IC hates me today. :(

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Surprised by the entrance of the Dirge Singer, Haruuc quickly notices her beauty and smiles. He lowers his hand and steps forward, bowing slighty to show his respect for her position. He glances at the human but pays him no mind, thinking him to be an obvious servant.
"You have me at a loss 'great voice'. You know me but yet I do not know you."
He moves towards her with confidence, ready to talk as somewhat equals.

Diplomacy Check. (wasn't sure whether to add +2 because she knows my noble status?) (1d20+7=10) Well that's not what I hoped for...

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

Haruuc stops as the Bugbears come stomping through the door. His eyes narrow as he sees the axes in their hands and ready for action.
Still a safe distance he raises his hand so his signet ring is visible (and incidently giving him easy aim at them to launch an Electrical Bolt if he needs to) and says, "I am Officer of the mighty Kech Shaarat. I demand that you tell your business here. This drinking place is under my protection tonight."
Intimidate Check. (1d20+7=19)

DM Dhakann wrote:
Everyone who's playing a hobgoblin from the mountain Dhakaan tribes, add a spoiler with how you feel about the Lhesh Haruuc, is he a strong leader? Do you want to usurp his power and lead the nation yourself? Would you like to be the Heir Apparent, thus increasing the power of the Dhakaan mountain clans?

Spoiler:
The Lhesh Haruuc is a capable leader, and he has certainly taken Darguun into a better age. He is however a commoner as far as Haruuc is concerened (a viewpoint instilled in him by his father and his exposure to the Guard and Ruus Dhakaan).

In his eyes, Ruus Dhakaan is the only Hobgoblin capable of leading Darguun into becoming a new Dhakaani Empire and taking control of a much larger area than Darguun currently occupies.
He sees hmself riding high in this new Empire, not being one of the movers and shakers, but certainly having high standing.

(Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1)

The door opens loudly and a tall Hobgoblin strides into the room. He is unmissable in his orange chain shirt and orange mask covering his face.
He takes in the scene before him and strides directly to the bar, calling the bartender over to him.
"I want ale and not the pigswill you feed the commoners, I want the good stuff. " His barked command echoes across the room, even over the rowdy song being vividly enacted by the goblins in the room.
He turns back to watch the room while the barkeep hurries to comply with his order. His eyes settle on the table of Hobgoblins and they narrow as he sees the strange little Goblin sitting with them.
Throwwing a handful of copper on the bar, he ttakes his ale and heads towards the motley assortment, wondering if one of them was his contact.

Haruuc, where's Darguun Mauler feat at?

It's from Races of Eberron p. 108. It's a Racial Feat.

Let me know if you need the description.

Haruuc is ready to go (pending a name change).

Awaiting Traits and te go ahead to enter the Bloody Blade.

That's funny, I didn't even realize until you said that and I went and checked...
You know I read that a number of times and it never even registered with me. Must have been floating around in my subconscious 'cause I came up with that name while out driving to a job. Weird!
I'll change it if you want.

Here is Haruuc.

I still have to fill in some stats (mainly because of Possessions) and the Background/Description, but I'll get that done tonight after I get back from work.

Just quickly so you can assign traits:
He can trace his lineage back to the Minor Nobility of the Empire of Dhakaan. Because of this he was stationed as a low ranking officer, but when his Sorcerous abilities maifested he was reassigned from the rank and file.

DM Dhakann wrote:
Ok , what specifically do you all WANT from your Dhakaani adventure? I'll get the game started in the way I'm going to, but where do you want it to go?

Glory for Dhakaan!

Personal Glory and Power (not necessarily wealth, but personal power/notoriety and magic) within the Empire for Haruuc.
