-Attention everybody
I will be on vacation for August, and also changing jobs. I'm moving from Harbin to Changchun. Anyway for the month my internet access, and living conditions will be in flux. I'm also planning to travel a bit. I'd like to say the game is not dead. I'll send you all a PM when I'm back.
-Thanks for playing and check back late August/Early September-

Good to hear. Always nervous over here in the People's Republic.

-I have always wanted to go into a sex shop and say "I'll have a demi-kilo of sex, please. Don't cut it to thick." And see what would happen.

Hey did anybody else have trouble with Paizo today?

Was Paizo down for anybody else?

By the wya this thread got so-hijacked. Awkward nerds to Slavic languages in 2 pages!

"To meet" in russian is встречать
which comes out to vstryechat'

-I have hereditary nueropathy. I'm going to lose feeling from my feet up. It's starting and I'm 27. My mom is 52 and has a cane, and can no longer drive.

--Polish is lots easier to say in cyrilic, just saying. It looks mad in Roman.

-Banning sex does seriously harm reproduction. Actually ends it. See Shakers, and the Ephreta Cloister
-Banning playtime is called Korean childhood. Seriously, they do. It causes insane, neurotic adults with massive suidicde rates and a birth-rate bordering on net gain of zero.

--My mother is 6'1" and has stories about sitting outside the game store, knitting, waiting for my dad to get off work (he worked in a game store) this is back in 1978. She worked in a yarn store. How cliche is this?

-Honestly I learned that just because a person throws dice at a table, he can still be as shallow, spiteful, petty, and evil as a man on a motorcycle with gang tattoos. He just shows it in different ways. Before gaming with real people I though 'gamers' were all a discriminated against minority, an oppressed group. Now I know better.

-I'd love your notes...pm me, and I'll send the address
-Real life is real life, I had to cancel my skype game, as work has me doing every day for the month of July. Trying to line up time slots with 3 players in the US and one in China (and they were all three continental time zones at that) was impossible.
-Honestly, I kind of took what I knew about Redwall, saw it as a dark-crime-Gotham grey moral-pastiche and ran with it. I'd be more than happy to see what you had planned, and even consider handing the game back over to you, if you have the time.

Passive-agressive behavior is too common on the internet. I have, many times, on many forums, written posts while angry, and then, decided not to post my drivel. How mad should nayone be on an annoymous forum?

hehe...Sorry about my crazy schedule. Yesterday, they turned off the water for 24 hours. Ever go to work without a shower in summer? yuck.

-Doom is a SUPER character
-Batman is just a dude. A strong, athletic dude with nice toys. Not sure why this match was ever presented.
-Batman versus the Punisher would make sense. Dpening on the Doom you use, he'd go from difficult to downright impossible to hurt without using HE-AT rounds.

Yeah, Its a fine rule, like you said it won't be an issue for a little while anyway.

--I've been working too much, so please excuse me if I'm a little slow getting posts up. I'm also changing jobs at the same time. This is maddness. Things should be normal by, about, September 1st.

oh...doesn't d&d round down?

3 people marked this as a favorite.

I don't believe anybody over 15th level exists...I'm odd like that. And there are 1,000,000 people for each 10-12th level character

-In Mir, my homebrew, an Orc is at least a 1st level Barbarian, with heroic stats. Even with trash loot they will kill you, easily. Throw into that they are better smiths than elves and you are looking at LE 6'6" Killing machines. Will saves spells make the day.
-Orcs in Mir are like Orcs in Skyrim. Smart, Feral, and brutal. Much like Klingons. If they were not dicided into tribes they'd easily conquer the world.

You or your players know what is going on at 3AM? Dear God, how is this possible?

Hey I'm back...we should get this moving along really soon now.

--I have been hit with the chance of a life time...no work from Sunday until Friday, (Sunday being JUly 1st. I hope you can accept I have plans to travel which will make posting impossible. Thanks for understanding.)

You need to have played at least once. That's my take on it. To DM and have never ever played is too strange, for one thing you may not know how to make characters.

Saturday and Sunday are my big work days actually, should have something up soon.

I'm thinking no...but we'll see.

What to do with the other 2 guards

Van-Kathoon is for the anti-social types. Or Urgotha. I'm not seing Calistria. Then again I used to thing Nerull was the best god in greyhawk.

I really with they'd stop potraying the nazis as the only evil in world history...

I almost live there...well 2 hours away. It's quite amazing one of the staff ended up at John's Hopkins.

Grechskii elvski?

If one must drink milk, why not BRING IT WITH YOU!

I find sci-fi and pulp settings better for horror than fantasy. I always tell players in a pathfinder game, at lv. 1 you are beter than 85% of the population. By level 10 you are better than 99.9% of the population. EVER.
-In sci-fi I can put an alien, or monster who can eat the party for dinner. They might not even see him until it is too late. Fantasy characters are heroic. Pulp and Sic-Fi characters are people too.

-Sexual morality as good/evil is a very cultural concept. Marrying 15 year old girls was common in this country 100 years ago. Today, you'd be in jail. Heck my great-grandmother was not only her husband's 1st cousin but also 16.
-The only problem with what Umbal Reaver says is I imagine his game turning into a OOC debate over morals. This is not likely to end well...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

-It does...its cleary an adjecive/adverb made from a noun. Unless you use it to mean dirty...but that is out archaic.
Etymology online
-Since males and female elves are equally out there, slutty would not be the word of choice. Somehow I can imagine a group of jealous human house wives refering to the slutty elf girls in the woods, stealing their husbands/boyfriends away. Kind of reminds me of some people I know.
-"That damn elf woman has no shame"
-"And she's 90 and still dresses like that"
-"Men are so weak"
blah blah blah

Also remember that eye-trauma is very horrible. See that nasty Japanese film 'audition' to get the idea.

Oooh, that's not cliché to me! Gank.

Got it right out of the Eberron campaign setting for 3.5

I've been trying to get the game going, as we had two people in prison. Now that they are out, we can slow it down a bit...Sadly the only pbp i play in seems to have died. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

Nick's crazy cliche to making people work together
-You are all employees of a trade organization/criminal cartel
-You all grew up in the same village when the black riders kill everybody except you...or goblins...or whatever
-You all come to the same tavern because said tavern is where caravan guards get jobs...You don't want to be a carvan guard? make a new character!
-You are all in the army, war is over, and you are going home together
-You got shipwrecked
-You all go to the professor's funeral in Ustalav (ooops I didn't make that one up)
-You are all bit by darkspawn and recruited into the Grey Wardens.
-You are all strangers, who meet in prison

-exactly! Letting a vampire repent and escape would be heresy!
-Saying that necromancy wasn't allway evil would be heresy!
-Bring back your wife as a zombie would be heresy!
-Saying that is is more important to save the innocent from the vampie than to slay the vampire would be heresey!
-Not burning a library dedicated to necromancy would be heresy!

Mir

It's some kind of twisted fey monster, with traits of spriggan and satyr mixed together. It's certainly going to be tough...but it lacks creativity. It will attack, kill, attack, kill, attack, kill. Likely has good will saves against enchantments. Very low AC.

-That's not heresy, that's infidelity. In other words heretics disbelieve a teaching or teaching of the church. You are disagreeing with the whole focus of the church. You'd simply convert to something else in that case.
-You need to have an issue with either undead, divination, or some other doctrine of the church.
-You character is having a crisis of faith, not a heretical stage. He is doubting weather he has done the right thing. This doesn't make him a heretic.

-I went to a good university, but my parents were very strict, and so I had no experience with women until university. I spent way too muchtime chasing women, and working part time jobs to get money, to spend on dates and stuff. I ended up moving to Russia with some girl.
-At this point in my life, having made TWO bad decissions about women, I think I'll be lots more focused.
-Thanks for all the advice.
Nick

My ex-girlfriend....
-sorry.

-For the record I wrote that while drinking, (see the beautiful spelling of 'society' in my previous post)
-I was certainly not trying to approve of such behavior. I was simply saying in my experience, such behavior is so common among gamers, that it borders on cliche.
-In general I have noticed that those who are older, or military, who entered the game as a hobby, are far,far more polite than those who entered the game drawn as socail pariahs in high school in the late 80's and 90s. Obvious exceptions exist.
-In fact, what is quite amazing to me is HOW LONG this thread is. I mean, this isn't a moral issue. If people decide they don't want you back:ERGO you are a BAD guest. If they thought you were a good guest, they'd invite you back.
-I've also learned to lock the milk if I run another game.

-It's interesting how people are talking about pornography likes it's addictive. This is a mental addiction, not a medical addiction. Heroin Junkies, and Alcoholics suffer actually medical dangers when they stop taking the drug.
-However, the majority, if not all, the posters are saying "seek expert advice." That would seek all the advice one needs, or can really give.

Well...here we are...but only the professor is in containers.

It is not that the alignemnt system represents real life, but it represents a polytheist world where gods have magic powers, and can and will raise people from death.
-The christian concpet of faith would be usless in such a world.
-I can easily think of a world where morality is 'undone' a world where the good gods were killed by the evil gods. A world created by a vague, cold, diest god that has no interest in life that evolved over time, a world seeded by mad aliens, or a world created by capricious fey. But these are all different from the 'norm'. Games run in the norm benefit from the fantasy alignment trope. 9 different morals is really enough.
