So what, I was gonna buy a book(Iron Kingdoms stuff, that by the way, is really cool) and while I was waiting in line I see A HUGE SKULL drawn inside...the worst is that the book is from 'only game in town' meaning that the guy who did it was either a D&D player/master or someone who playes with those stpid miniatures(no offense..)

Saern wrote: Screw it. Just screw it.
So just forget about him. Need another player at your table? I'd personally opt for a DMed NPC, but if it's better to have him there, let him. But don't worry about him. Just screw it.
Yeah..after F let my group i created a female drow npc to help out the group..the funny thing was that the npc drow was much better than F...my whole group would make jokes about it and stuff...xD

My prophecy for him: Freakin' McDonald's manager. That's the type of personality that is an apatheic narcissit, hanging around you as long as you can entertain him, but not caring beyond that. Either that, or he's a weak, pathetic piece of crap. Long ago he had some insecurity, and in his little brain, which couldn't handle the stress and wasn't able to actually think it out, he thought he was just some fragile shell trying to fake his way through the world. Now he's told himself just that for so long it's true.
LOL..true though...I hate these kind of people..thats why im looking for a job on Burger King...
Actually, elves(females) are really important to our rpg community.Think of a tavern without an elfic waitress, that would suck.
Brehon wrote: I hate elves and I'm not afraid to say it. Why? Because of elven supremacists.
In summation, elves are arrogant, self-aggrandizing, lazy, untrustworthy, self-serving, looking-down-their-noses sluggards whose time has long since passed. They all need to get haircuts and jobs.
Well, what I really like are drowns and I don't know if you're considreing them here though but I have nothing against female elfs for that matter xD
AWESOME... I saw Korgoth yesterday.. There was nothing on tv so i just figure I'd watch some crappy cartoon.. my first time seeing thta show..soo funny...I wonder if you guys know when does that show start, and if is everyday.
By the way, really funny when Korgoth and the mercenaries ar in the jungle, right after they' ve save the hot chick..
"Korgoth? Korgoth? Korgoth?
(bushes shaking like crazy, and apparently Korgoth and the hot one were no where to be seen) XD
ok, THIS QUESTION IS FOR YOU PEOPLE WHO PLAY, HAVE OR USE any OF THE iRON hEROES' rules:
*Have you ever thought about adding the other races to the game?(obviously yes..but did you alter any of the existing rules like the traits or not?)
* Do you think that the Iron Heroes' combat system can slow down the game? EX: Now that everyone has a pool, don't you guys have to waste time to calculate how many points you have in your pool, etc? Does this pool system make hard to DM Iron Heroes? I heard some DM saying that is too hard having to calculate all the pools for all the npcs in the fight.
* Do you add the magic system from D&D or preferred the one from Iron Heroes?
I hope you guys can help me out here by giving your opinion, thanks

oK, so, about that kid(F) who got really pissed off and left my house for ever:
A year after the incident, our relationship with F was worse than ever. He was bullying my brother at school, making fun of the other players of our group, and running away from me everytime we met, afraid that I would beat him up, especially when he started bullying my bro(he wasn't wrong about runing away after all) But one day he realized that it was time to come back, and he asked if he could play again....
The whole group was concerned about letting him play again, but we needed a player and, even though he wasn't a good player at all, we decided to forgive him(but I didn't forget)
What happened after that was even worse. F was back but the group wasn't the same at all. The other players did not trust him like they did before. Even the best roleplayers had trouble roleplaying their characters after that. With some time, though, iyt all became good again.
Until one day they had a stupid arguiment and we decided that he wouldn't play D&D with us anymore, unfortunately.. The thing is, I knew that that was gonna happen but i let him rejoin b/c i had a lack of players in that time...So, my advice to yu is, if this guy is not your friend at all, then at some time the same thing will happen, but if he still hangs out with you or is your friedn I would give him a second chance..
These questions are for you people who play, have or use some of the rules of Iron Heroes:
*Have you ever thought about adding the other races (dwarf, half orc etc) to the game? If so, did you modify any of the rules? Ex: Like the 2 traits that the pcs get at the beginning
*Do you think that the rules for combat in Iron Heroes are better than the regular rules from D&D? It's obvious that the combats in Iron Heroes are supposed to last a lot more than regular fights and that the characters have more abilities by far but the thing is, doesn't the game get slowed down with all the extra abilities and stuff, like calculating how many points you have in your pool, and if every character has a pool even the Dm has to stop to calculate the npcs' pools..it can get confused and ruin the fight.
So, what I wanna know is, did you have this kind of trouble during combats or not? Any advices?
I know how you feel.. a similar thing happened to me5 years ago... I was the DM and the group included my brother and 3 more friends. One of them was the ONE who almost screwed everything..almost...Well, what happened was that F , even though our neighbor and 'friend'had always been snob and he was the 'spoiled brat' of the neighborhood. And according to my brother, when F was walking with his other friends he pretended not to know us..as if we didn't exist..He never did that to me b/c I was the oldest one and i guess knowing an older guy, to him, was good to his status...whatever... The worst was when in a battle, his druid got blind, and he totally lost interest and got really pissed... I didnt have any time to do something b/c he just left my house..and never came back...(well, thats what I thought) ...ill continue this later cause i really gotta go now..
Ok, there goes my question: Your character is 40 years old and gets killed by the evil necromancer. The party is unable (not enough $ and no clerics) to revive that character. They bury the character and go back to to the evil necromancer's lair to revenge the dead character(ok, let's call him Joe)
AFTER 20 YEARS of slaying beasts and saving kingdoms from worm gods' worshipers, the party can finnaly revive Joe...and the question is: how old is Joe now?..is he still 40 or not? Do characters age when they are dead?..
well..i live in NJ, basking ridge. Does that help?
By the way, if you want to start a new campaign in Greyhawk, but you don't know anything about it,what book should you buy ??
Troy Taylor wrote: The Drizzt books are NY Times bestsellers.
That means a lot of people care about the character.
A movie featuring that character should draw lots and lots of people to the box office. (especially readers who are in the target movie-going demographic -- teen and 20-something males)
(Plus, fantasy films have more mainstream appeal than ever before. Hollywood is looking for fantasy vehicles).
This makes money for movie studio, the licensee, etc.
Honestly, I'm clueless as to why no one's jumping on this -- unless the stumbling block is the rights holders and the author.
Yeah...but it would be cool to have a movie with DRizzt on it, not a movie with Drizzt being the main character and center of universe...
Well.. I'm from Brazil(w00t) and I moved to the U.S. last year(2005)....I think that we all have similar concepts as gamers and don't think your nationality influences your game, basically because we all get most of the RPG info from the U.S.
I'm still trying to "adapt" my roleplaying knowledge to english, as some of the the feats and skills have completely different names. For instance: Even though i know how to play D&D, I 've never played the game in here, with Americans...I'm looking foward to it though : D
DM that doesn't know the difference between H.P. and damage...and suddenly your elf gets owned after taking 76 points of damage of the ogre..."he threw a rock at you...yeah..76...you are dead..hahaha." (no wonder we "fired" him next day)...
I don't know...I don't really like the vitality/wounds hit point system. It can ruin the game. The players don't react to a fight as the same way as they would do in the normal H.P. system. Even the bulky dwarven warrior would think twice before fighting a bunch of orcs. And a keen weapon totally destroys this system. Ok, it makes it more realistic but let's what the players will do after they are all puverized after some lucky rolls. And first of all, isn't this used in the star wars roleplay game?.. That's even worse, a padawan wielding a lightsaber(2d8/19-20 X2) can slice even a master jedi if he scores a critic...The problem gets worse with pistols(3d6 20 X3)... I wish there was a better system than the regular H.P. system but not as radical as the V/W system..sigh...

Me too Nah, I prefer a cleric myself. I just said i'd rather play a cleric than a druid...
Evilturnip wrote: HELLFINGER wrote: Maybe it's because you are the only one capable of stealing it?!?! All the spot and listen checks in the world won't help against the party wiz rifling through your stuff while you sleep.
And then they try to explain it away, saying "oh, the alarm spell I cast was bypassed!"
Sneaky magical gits.... YEAH... I HATE THOSE WIZARDS...ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE WIZARDS AND ROGUES...(MULTICLASS)
Tequila Sunrise wrote: ... and I am the only person I know that would prefer a cleric over a druid.
Me too

Maybe it's because you are the only one capable of stealing it?!?!...I mean c'mon...even if you are not a thief...they will never suspect of the dumb looking fighter, will they?

A new DM...this reminds me of my first day as a DM...5 years ago...I had just bought the dungeon master's guide and the adventure "the sunless citadel"...One of my players bought the player's handbook and everyone was anxious to start playing... I was really nervous, and I knew I was probably going to mess up but still, I was confident. Well...then we started.. I will never forget..My brother was Arthas, the paladin(someone should stop playing warcraft), my neighbor Luciano was Legolas, an elf AND archer(very creative). Vitor(the other neighbor) was a dwarf called Oskar and Felipe(the one who had bought the player's handbook) was a druid called Ginli(Lord of the rings..though he was a human).... I remember that i messed up a lot..and one of my biggest mistakes was that i didn't know the difference between an attack and damage..(xD)..
Well, even with all the mistakes and stuff, that was probably our best game...and simply because it was the FIRST.... What made the game so good was that they all respected me...And this im my greates advice to you: Show them that you trust your bat..SELF CONFIDENCE..if they believe you know what you are doing, they will respect you and you all wil have a great time.

Sebastian wrote: Tequila Sunrise wrote: And to drive my point home further, I just remembered: though everyone has their favorite race, humans are the BEST in 3.x. All others in PHB are underpowered compared to them. Why? Because humans are the most numerous race in fantasy and therefore should be most numerous in an adventuring group. If you want to start equalizing the races, you should be buffing all of them to be on par with humans or depowering humans. See where I'm going with this? I think you hit the nail on the head. Back in 2e, half-elves were more common than elves and humans put together. Actually, humans were so bad that the only time people played them was if they wanted to run a paladin or they were really concerned about high level play. Maybe it was just my players, but having a group without any humans whatsoever was not at all uncommon.
There is similar reasoning behind whey the cleric is the most powerful base class.
Wow, finnaly someone is making sense.... I totally agree with you though I wish you could tell me more about this "cleric the best class" thing....

About iron heroes, I have no idea how my players will react when i tell them about it. I mean, they all would love to be highly skilled archers, berserker or harrier but the problem is: THERE ARE NO OTHER RACES IN IRON HEROES!!... Iron Heroes is cool and all but the majority of my players like picking a race instead of a human...I seriously don't know what to do....However, we are just starting AOW so I still have a lot of time to think about it....Can anyone give me a hand??

Anyone else like his work?
Would it be the right style for D&D?
Ok..isn't he the guy from Dexter??.....xD

I honestly believe that XP should represent all aspects of the PCs experience. Hence "Experience" Points.
True.As you said, rewarding xp can be used to estimulate ropleplaying, and it is a good way of making shy pcs roleplay.
And I give out XP like crazy for role-playing.
I don't think you should give xp to your players just because they are roleplaying. I mean, they are just doing their part. If you start giving xp when you want them to do something they will become addicted to XP. They should roleplay because they like it and don't feel embarassed in doing it, not just because they will be given a reward. Well, that's my opinion but if you want to give them xp for roleplaying do it on your on risk.
James Keegan wrote: It helps to lead by example, as well. Not only start focusing on it a bit more, but make sure that your roleplay your NPCs as well as you can.
I would say this is probably the best advice anyone can give you
Blastin wrote: I'm starting a new AoW game and I have a dilema. I only have four players, and none wants to play a cleric or a rogue. I have a fighter, a wizard, a monk and favored soul.
I have only read the first 3 modules, and have read alot of opinions about the rest on these boards, and I'm concerned about the party survival.
I HATE to tell people what to play, and the players are pretty set on their characters. So I would like to get the opinions of DM's that have run most of the campaign.
I'm considering going with Gestalt characters. What I want to know: is this gonna throw the power curve too far in favor of the charcters if I try to run the modules as written?
You know what you should do? You should create an NPC cleric to help the pcs some way.The Npc could be someone that the pcs helped previously or a friend of the pcs. Or the players could pay for the services of a cleric npc.
My group just finished the first adventure of AOW :
Elazul--> male elf fighter 2/ rogue 2, CG
Lauciam--> male elf cleric of Heironeous 4, LG (kinda obvious)
Ufgar--> male dwarf fighter 4, CN
Kenjin-->male human monk 4, LN
Yeah that's my group. Elazul and Lauciam are both competing for Tirra, the rogue Npc. Ufgar got a scar on his left eye while fighting Kullen, the 1/2 orc. ALL THE PLAYERS AGGREED in letting Filge help them, even after they found out that the necromancer was friend of Smenk and could not be trusted. I just hope they can realize his before it's too late...
Unfortunately, all the players live in Brazil, except me(the DM) and my brother (one of the players) that moved to U.S.A last year...The good thing about it was that i became a subscriber of Dungeon :) and got the chance of DMring the AOW campaign.
Too bad...my pc's haven't even started the second adventure yet...that's because we live in different countries now and I only see them once per year...who knows....maybe next June we can finish 3 adventures and....no....I don't think so
ok. Now why would a non melle fighter get close to a huge beast with six arms?...everyone is suicidal these days
Well...if they fail....the the world will be in ruins...Most of the important npc's will be dead, killed by Kiuss and his minions and the party's destiny will be doomed. If they survive the "final confrontation" against Kius but fail to destroy him make another campaign, with the pc's trying to hide from Kyuss's fury. Make them go to some isolated region or to seek the help from some old sage. The chances are that the armies of Kyuss will follow them no matter they go. Their lives will be miserable, they would wish that they had never been born. But you could create some campaign where they have to search a powerfull but forgotten artifact to kill him again, who knows...maybe even the rod of 7 parts.. But if they get killed by Kyuss on the "final battle" then it's a different story.................
That's what happens when you spend all your time trying to think how to adapt the "overgod" to Forgotten. You get pissed off and kill one of the pcs' with a full attack. If you want to "transform" the overgod to FR and dont' want to waste time on its appearance just say to yous players that the overgod has the symbol of the 3 evil deities on his chest.(they will probably notice that he is a "fusion" of the 3).
Ok, this adventure might be exactly what my players need. Can someone tell me in which Dungeon I can find it??
