I would like to cancel my AP subscription after #54 (my current pending order). All my other subscriptions should remain in effect.

Thanks

Not sure if this question was ever asked so forgive if I'm repeating a thread. Has Paizo ever entertained or mentioned the idea of putting out a hardcover on the scale of Ptolus? There are so many interesting cities in Golarion that would fit nicely into a massive tome.
I know it would be expensive but I'm sure there is a dedicated following out there that woudl be willing to sacrifice food and medical care for such a book.

Thought I would jut throw my two coppers into the pot here.
I've been a DM since way back in 1978 (or 79..senility is starting to creep in). I own every hard and soft cover book produced by TSR/WoTC (and other 3PP's) in support of D&D and all it's iterations up until 4 edition (Bought the core rule book set).
That being said. I'm a die hard Pathfinder GM and player now and have no need or intention of investing hundreds of dollars in a 5th edition.

I'm not bashing 5th edition - but I've found a system in Pathfinder that appeals to me and my players and we're sticking with it for the long haul.

Paizo - Keep up the great work. You put out a great product and provide awesome customer service. I only hope that others in the Paizo community will not jump ship and hurt the revenue stream that helps keep you folks producing the great product that you have created/refined.

Get a bookcase. lol

I have 4 Shelves, 2 feet wide. And no more room for books. Its mostly 3.x and Pathfinder, with some 2e (particularly campaign settings) and a shelf full of WoD books.

There a couple odd one-off books on there as well, like Conan 2e d20, Angel: the RPG (Unisystem), and some more unusual d20 books, like d20 stargate, and d20 WoW, and Everstone: Blood Legacy,

I have too many bookshelves...filled with every hard/soft cover of each edition since 1978 for D&D and Pathfinder. Not to mention boxed sets like Gamma World, Star Frontiers, Top Secret, Boot Hill, Traveller (the good old pocket sized books), Squad Leader (and the add-ons).

And did I mention every book from every editon of D&D? I'm going to hate moving......

So my question is has anyone been using the hero points rules in the APs?

So for story bonus hero points do you give them out when they finish each book or what?

I use them. Award them when a player gains a level - to a max of three.

They've come in very handy - players have avoided TPK when the dice just don't roll their way.

I just want to know if anyone multiclasses using straight Pathfinder rules. I'm not talking about adding a prestige class to your base class -- I'm talking about taking levels in 2 different base classes.

I'm just curious because it seems like Pathfinder, by focusing more on archetypes, has filled in all these "middle areas" so that there are now many archetypes that that suit a lot of character concepts. Combine that with the capstone abilities at level 20 that encourage people to stick with their first class, and I just don't see much reason for people to multiclass anymore.

Or am I wrong?

I do. I'm playing a druid/ranger in Legacy of Fire....

I am trying to decide if I should mostly ignore rations or use them. I have never played in a game where they were really tracked or required by the GM.

We actively track. Always have. Adds some realism to the game when the party knows they will be in the desert for two weeks and don't have magical means to create water or food. So decisions on what loot to take vs. dropping food becomes critical. I've had party's ignore all sorts of coinage if it wasn't platinum in return for keeping food/water handy. Besides we also track encumberance - since a gallon of water = 8lbs. You see how fast people start watching what they have in their bags when their movement drops from 30' to 20'...

We house rule it. Our GM allows the number of known orisons plus 2x your level plus your ability modifer as the limit to cast per day. So if you know four (4) orisons and have a +3 modifier and you are 1st level you can cast orisons 9 times a day.

4 (orisons known) +2 (twice your level) + 3 (ability modfier) = 9

I for one would love a rules compendium. It could be a 64 page softcover or maybe something shorter that just acts as an index to where to find the rules.

Please add your thoughts, comments, and suggestions, but you must know beforehand that the world is ending on October 21, 2011, so you should plan ahead.

Max out your credit cards, quit your job, take a trip around the United States one last time, etc. There is no point in planning anything past the date of October 21, 2011, because that is when Jesus Christ will return, take all saved Christians up with him into Heaven, and the unsaved will remain here to suffer under the reign of the Antichrist for the seven year long Tribulation. These are absolute biblical facts and they cannot be disputed. Sorry, but it has to happen. OK, now we can begin the discussion...

Sounds like fun! How about you sign over all of your personal possesions to me - effective October 22nd, 2011. You won't need them. Since I'm not a Christian (or Jew, or Muslim, or anything else for that matter) I'll not get swept up in your Rapture. :) I'll just continue to play Pathfinder....

Touch attacks are not representing that you require MORE physical dexterity to hit your opponent. Rather they represent that the attack is so easy to do that it is almost assured. Simply contact is all that is needed for the attack to be effective.

Normal melee attacks 'touch' the target all the time, but thy are ruled as 'misses' due to the targets armor, shield, or natural armor effectively absorbing the blow and making it harmless.

Why would a fully powered blow that only needs to contact not do more damage than a 'finesse' blow that only needs to make contact?

If that strong combatant is powerful enough to swing their weapons quickly enough to make contact AND smash through armor then why would they be LESS competent on an easier to hit target?

I the combatant in question is a mage like your example and is not strong but is destrous then there is already a mechanic in place to handle that: The feat Weapon Finesse. Touch spells should be covered under natural or unarmed attacks. If your mage wants to use dex then he should take the appropriate feat since that option already has a mechanic to cover it.

OK - but why would strength still be added to a touch attack for purposing of hitting since you are not bypassing anything (right? touch attacks ignore armor bonuses, etc and the purpose of strength is to help bypass those protections by using brute force). So if a mage with a 10 strength and a fighter with an 18 strength attack the same target with a touch the fighter gets +4 more to hit (ignoring BAB for the moment)? just doesn't seem to make sense.

An argument could be made to say that you add strength damage to a touch attack but I still can't see how it adds to hitting the opponent.

This topic may have been discussed in a previous thread so forgive me if I'm just resurrecting it again.
Does anyone house rule touch attacks? I mean - it doesn't seem to make sense that Strength should be included in your attack bonus when making a touch attack. Strength, understandbly, is used to power your way through armor, shield bonuses and magical deflections, etc
but wouldn't it make more sense that dexterity would apply when you are just trying to touch someone. I can't come up with an instance where strength would be necessary to touch someone.

A mage using a touch attack spell shouldn't have to depend on strength to use shocking grasp. Dexterity makes more sense as he/she closes in on the opponent and just tries to touch them as the opponent is weaving and dodging the electrically charged hand that is trying to make contact...

Can anyone recommend a 3rd party module for 3rd level characters. The pathfinder modules tend to skip over 3rd level (plenty of 6th level ones).
I prefer a wilderness setting - preferable forest/hills/plains.

As an FYI - my players just finished the first Kingmaker module and we ended at 3rd level - but the next module is for 4th/5th level characters. Reason we stopped at 3rd level is that we have 5 players instead of 4. I'll modify the KM path gonig forward but would like an adventure between KM 1 and 2.

I am just curious on what peoples opinions are. Which would you rather have for character creation; Point buy or 4d6 drop the low? Also, why?

Personally I like the point buy with 20 points. I feel that it makes for a nice balanced party where all players can easily have their time in the sun, without 1 character being the "lead" and everyone else feeling like "support cast".

I say this as I have been in too many games where dice roll was used and (after calculating everything out) one or two characters had point buy equivalents in the 40+ while some others where in the 10-20 range (due to poor rolling).

As I said, just curious.

4D6 only. We've been using that rule since AD&D. Party loves it because it adds flavor to a character. I once had a player who had a cleric with a 4 dexterity. Turned out to be one of the best PC's ever in my campaign. He used that 4 dex as a reason for his character having a club foot - which led to NPC's calling him demon tainted (funny considering he was a LG cleric of St Cuthbert)

Well, actually by RAW the paladin should not have been able to detect evil - creatures under 5 HD do not emit an evil aura.

I think bringing evil beings around to see the rewards of "good" and helping them following the path to enlightenment is much more worthy of a paladin than just killing - that is done by everyone.

What is more, the kobold has not committed an evil act, so I would actually have Erastil intervene if he outright kills him.

Ruyan.

Well color me blue and call me a mite! I totally forgot that detect evil does not work on creatures under 5hd. That being said - I know the player well and he will not slay a creture if he cannot detect evil and/or catch it commiting an evil act. Hi all,

I need some help adjudicating the following issue. The party I DM has a paladin of Erastil.

Spoiler:
They recently rescued the kobold prisoner being held by the mites beneath the sycamore tree. The party members took a liking to the the little bugger and agreed to help him recover his tribes' stolen holy statue. The paladin detected evil on the kobold (which came up positive) and now is faced with a dilemma. He thinks that as an evil creature he should slay the kobold and eradicate the sootscale tribe. The other party members think that an alliance is better. Can a LG paladin of Erastil make such an alliance, considering the fact that kobolds are evil by nature? As an asuide - the paladin is tasked by his order to help secure the lands and establish a stronghold that will act as a buffer against the bandits and orcs to the south and west
