Four players (all level 8) just finished killing Barl:

Half-Orc Barabrian
Elven Rogue
Ulfen-Human Cleric (of Kurgess)
Chelaxian Sorceror

Would you beleive that the barbarian's raging intimidating howl/stare worked on Barl, causing him to flee for 4 rounds and allowing them to re-group/heal and rebuff....Curse that die roll of a 1 for Barl's save!

And that's after the cleric was reduced to 0 (yes, zero) level by Barl's wand of enervation!

To me Pathfinder, AD&D, 3.5, 4th edition, the blue box, etc is all Dungeons and Dragons. Label it what you want but I call it D&D. I've been playing it since 1978 and my group calls it D&D. Still has elves, halflings, (the much hated) gnomes, paladins, dragons, etc, and dungeons...so whether you prefer 4 edition over PFRPG (like my group does) is a personal preference.
So lets all stop discussing/bickering/arguing over what it is or what to all it and just enjoy whatever version you prefer.

How about some books with short side quests? I know there are some adventure side treks in the AP's but a book that contained about 20 or so short side (1-3 page) adventures would be great.
Hard covers about the other continents. Anything that digs really deep into the customs/politics of the lands/cultures and religions.

What makes it cost that much? the Box itself or the contents in the box?

It's a mix of things, really; the cost of the box, the cost of all the books inside, the cost of the additional goods, the cost of assembling the box and its contents, the cost of shipping such bulky items, etc. There's also the fact that they're awkward to shelve with other RPG books in bookstores. They're cool, I agree, but they're also not very practical. Boxed board games are able to pull off this thing because, for the most part, they've got a MUCH bigger industry and market and business; they can save money by printing HUGE print runs, and that's not something that most RPGs have the luxury of.

I think James, Vic and Lisa should forfeit their salaries for 7 years to help subsidize the cost of the boxed sets. Anyone else agree? I'd include Cosmo but he only makes $1.99 a month.

3.5 vs PFRPG Question:

Will older books (i.e. PF Gazetter) containing feats/traits/spells etc. that were written for 3.5 rules be updated in the Core Rulebook?
I raised a specific question in another thread and didn't get much feedback. Example - The war college feat in the gazetteer uses the x4 bonus skill points at 1st level for a fighter that takes this feat. Will Paizo be publishing a conversion document or will it be updated in the Core rule Book?

TriOmegaZero wrote:
You're missing the fact that characters in the beta do not get the x4 at first level. The +3 bonus to class skills keeps the numbers in line with the 3.5 DCs. So the fighter starts with 8 skill points to spend. The PF Gazetteer was written under 3.5 rules and so you have to adjust the information in that to the beta rules.

I agree. Anyone else care to offer an opinion on how to adjudicate the war College Feat. 1)Keep it as is even if using the Beat rules 2)follow Tri's response above or 3) another method?
I'm inclined to belive that #2 is the correct way. Anyone from Paizo care to offer an opinion or correct interpertation of the feat/rule?

Pathfinder 5 avatar

With the release of the Beta rules and the release of the PF Gazetteer does anyone think the War College feat is overkill? Maybe I'm adjudicating the rule incorrectly but a 1st level fighter with an 18 int would get 32 skill points (4 plus 4 for int bonus times 4). I thought you can only put 1 point into any skill and a fighter (with this feat) does not have 32 skills...

Having done two Sidetrek Adventure Weekly series, I was wondering, how long is too long for a adventure path series? 12 adventures? 20 adventures? Hell 50 adventures? Tell me what you think.

I guess that depends on several factors (as determined by you):

1 - Is the AP meant to be the entire campaign (start to finish)?
2 - Is the AP meant to bring the party only to a certain level?
3 - Will you use the AP as the main story arc for the campaign but throw in various side modules to mix things up.

In the end it depends on you and what you're looking to accomplish. I use #3 above.

Spoiler:
My party has just completed the first part of Burnt Offerings and are heading to Magnimar but I'm throwing in a side trek before they get there.

None of my players were locals but they came up with some good reasons for being in Sandpoint.
The human cleric of Kurgess heard about the swallowtail festival and thought it would be a good idea to attend so he could bring games of competition.
The Tian rogue was just passing through, after fleeing his homeland for some unmentioned slight
The half orc barbarian was down on his luck and passing through and landed up working for the glassworks factory hauling lime/ash. We started the campaign with him having lived in Sandpoint for the previous year.
The Cheliaxian sorcerer (who is 6'4" and 300lbs, 20 strength!) was also in town after leaving Korvosa. Down on his luck, he also found employment working in the quarry with the 1/2 orc.
The campaign started with the sorcerer and barbarian knowing one another. The cleric and rogue were introduced during the initial assault on the town.
We just finished up Burnt Offerings and starting The Skinsaw Murders tonight

Excsue if this has been posted before but I was wondering if a cleric is subject to an attack of opportunity if he tries turning against a creature that is not affected by turn attempts?

I go back to the basics. You can not control her. You can not control the situation. You can control you and your response (response ability = responsibility). Focus on you and being the best you that you want to be. That may not be the you she wants you to be. If so, so be it.

Do not try to make a lot of changes just because she said she wanted you to. If you are going to make changes, make them for the right reasons. Trying to be what someone else wants only disappoints the other person and frustrates you. Now if you both want you to be the same thing, then you are good to go.

No one can change you but you and change is usually a long and painful process. Get support. Good luck.

Court is 100% right. You can either be a victim or a volunteer. At first you're a "victim". Now it's time to move on and be the best you can be. Otherwise you doom yourself to being a "volunteer" to misery and self pity.

Well, it depends on which Greek you ask.

If he (or she) identifies strongly with his (or her) Greek-ness, (as this fellow does) he doesn't consider himself "white."

"White" applies more to us American mutts who don't really care about where our ancestors came from. ;)

In either case, there was no offense intended in the statement.

No offense taken. Never thought of myself other than "white" even though I'm 100% Greek. My dad fell off the feta cheese/olive oil boat! :) Mom's parents came through Ellis island around 1912.

So if being "Greek" is not white then what do you classify yourself as? Greek is a nationality not a race.
