I would prefer a live game, as opposed to a play by post game as well.

Dark Archive

I would like the only requirements to be that we use Pathfinder material specifically, and anything that the DM feels is necessary. Once we have a group of players, we can decide.

It also requires finding someone who wishes to DM. I am currently DMing a campaign in person, so I really want to be a player in one.

4-5 Players Max, and DM.

Dark Archive

We play exclusively Pathfinder

Dark Archive

Hello everyone,

Myself and another player are looking to start up a group of players or join an existing campaign, which is focused on roleplay and character development. We are serious players, but we also know how to have fun with the game and have a good time!

This can be an online game using something like Maptools, or even in person. We are located in Eastern PA, specifically the Allentown area.

Let me know if anyone is interested!

Can work out schedules once we have a set group!

So we had the first session yesterday. They actually had some really good roleplay with Iomedae, and in general in the beginning of the book. However, they seemed disappointed in the lack of written content for the Labyrinth. I think they expected to be running through mazes for weeks. (Which to me would feel a bit boring!)

I explained to them a bit how the Labyrinth actually works, and they seem to understand why it is written the way that it is. I could create content, but like previously said.. the PCs pretty much wreck everything that isn't a mythic challenge (and most mythic enemies too). So perhaps it's just better for them to get to the Prison.

Dark Archive

I fear my pc's won't spend as much time role playing in the Ineluctable Prison, so I want to actually make the Ivory Labyrinth last a little while, so the book doesn't end in just 3 sessions or so.

I could be wrong however.

Dark Archive

Hey all gms,

My party will be starting book 5 on Sunday, and I was curious about how other GMs handled the maze realms of the Ivory Labyrinth?

Did you set aside a good amount of time to create your own mazes and encounters/opportunities for each of the realms? I know there is only one sample maze given. Did you also place unique NPCs/Enemies in each of these areas?

Any tips on how this book has been run would be greatly appreciated. I am a GM who doesn't have a ton of time to set aside to create these areas, so any ideas or insights into anyone's game would be helpful!

Thanks for any insight!

Dark Archive

Thank you so much! All of your information really helped!

Dark Archive

That does help, I feel as if the rules are just a tiny bit vague, but I definitely appreciate the input. So I may be a little dense, but you would say that the construct gets it's own attack round basically? So I would get all of my attacks, and it would get it's own?

I am definitely going to be getting it with Craft Construct, that is the definite best route to go.

Dark Archive

Hello everyone,

I am looking to make a Level 14 character with a construct limb. I have a big question, that I cannot seem to find the answer for.

Can an animated object be made into a construct limb?

How does this work as part of your full attack action? Do you need feats two two weapon fight with it, or does it attack on it's own? If you are going to attack with it as part of your full attack action, do you use its attack bonus, or yours? How do I calculate the damage?

I am a bit new to constructs, and ANY advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Hello all, myself and a friend are looking to get into a brand new campaign, and are looking to gauge the interest of anyone out there who may be interested. We both have moderate (3-4 years) experience playing Pathfinder, and are open to any players, but we will also need a GM! We could even try using the Mythic rules as well.

Would anyone be interested in starting up a campaign?

Dark Archive

Okay, so its only half Vindicator level then.

Dark Archive

Hello All, quick rules question on Stigmata:

Stigmata (Su): A vindicator willingly gives his blood in service to his faith, and is marked by scarified wounds appropriate to his deity. He may stop or start the flow of blood by force of will as a standard action; at 6th level it becomes a move action, and at 10th level it becomes a swift action. Activating stigmata causes bleed damage equal to half the vindicator's class level, and this bleed damage is not halted by curative magic. While the stigmata are bleeding, the vindicator gains a sacred bonus (if he channels positive energy) or profane bonus (if he channels negative energy) equal to half his class level. Each time he activates his stigmata, the vindicator decides if the bonus applies to attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, Armor Class, caster level checks, or saving throws; to change what the bonus applies to, the vindicator must deactivate and reactivate his stigmata.

When it says "Half the Vindicator's Class Level" does that only mean it'd be a +1 at Level 1 Holy Vindicator, or is that total Class level of the character? In the book I believe it says "Half His class level".

This seems a bit underpowered at level 1, if it is only half vindicator level.

Dark Archive

Thank you!

Dark Archive

Would I cast spells that are two levels higher? If I have 6 total class levels, and 4 of them are cleric, would i be looking at the spells of a 6th level cleric instead of 4th?

Dark Archive

Hello all. I am working on a 2Cavalier/4Cleric going into Holy Vindicator. If I apply the magical knack trait, will I be able to cast the spells that a 6th level cleric casts, and the spells per day, or does it just increase the DC to my saves and my concentration check?

Thanks for the help!

Dark Archive

Hello all, I may have missed this, but I am working on a character, and I wish to use a rapier. Is there a way to change the crit multiplier from X2 to X3? This could be simple and I just missed it, however, I have been looking and have not seen anything.

Thanks!

Dark Archive

No worries Vuvu, but I would like to play a scheduled day. I prefer a live session, maptools or anything works for me!

Dark Archive

Haha I've been told the old man Henderson story, pretty hilarious. But I'd say we could make due with 5 players. I'd assume the first 5 to post in this thread would be appropriate.

Dark Archive

I'd say we should go for Kingmaker, seems like the one game that everyone can easily agree on. We would need a DM though, doesn't look as if we have any volunteers. I'm looking forward to that adventure path as well because Pathfinder online is supposed to be based upon it.

Dark Archive

I am really down to do almost anything, I would just prefer something that I know very little about. I am fine with doing something else, if it better suits you Vuvu.

Dark Archive

Thanks for the info Ridge! Sounds pretty cool!

Dark Archive

I just did some research into WotW, and it seems pretty awesome. Usually most evil campaigns fall apart, but it would be kind of fun to try something like that, especially since it got such high ratings! I'm all for doing really anything. Like I said, I just have some pretty in-depth experience with Carrion Crown, so i'd like to do something new, but would really do anything, just to get something going.

I am currently also in a Shattered Star group with some friends, and we have played through RotRL. Just a little backround on what I know the most about, to avoid re-running the same stuff.

Let me know what you think!

I'd say my top 5 choices would be:

1. Reign of Winter
2. Way of the Wicked
3. Kingmaker
4. Jade Regent
5. Homebrew (If the DM can make an interesting enough story)

Dark Archive

That sounds unfortunate! But I'm thinking we should find around 5 players, and a DM.I unfortunately have ran Carrion Crown, and I know the story pretty well, so that one may be out of the question.

I may be missing something however, which one is Way of the Wicked?

The name sounds interesting at least!

But Baron, I'm thinking a traditional "start at lvl 1" game, see how far we can get with it.

Dark Archive

Go for it! But any preference on what campaign you'd like to be a part of?

Dark Archive

Hey all,

The area in which I live doesn't have much opportunity for campaigns and meeting people to play. So therefore, I'm looking for someone interested in DMing, and maybe 2-3 other players besides a friend and myself to start up a campaign! DM has choice over what to run, although Reign of Winter sounds pretty awesome! *hint*

Would prefer to play with Maptools.

Hope this gathers some interest!

Hello Everyone, I am in a campaign at the end of Shattered Star book #1. My current character has died and will not be getting revived. I am trying to decide between three different characters:

1. A Cleric focusing on animate dead and other negative energy spells to do damage. However, I am just a bit stumped on how I would include him into a mostly good aligned group.

2. A Wizard focused on construct creation. However, I am worried about the costs and making sure I completely understand the rules on creating constructs. With this character I'd like to make construct armor around level 10-11, I think this is an awesome steam-punk-ish concept that i'd like to explore, but is it really feasible?

3. Some sort of Dark Tapestry Oracle. I am interested in the alien-like world of Pathfinder and exploring it.

Any other suggestions would also be welcome, but any advice on these 3 character concepts is most welcome! Anything you would like to throw out is great! Thanks in advance!!

Dark Archive

Hello everyone, I know this is a bit late for this thread, but I am building this same character for tonight.

I want to use Fiend totem, get the gore, plus claw claw and bite, but it only lasts as long as 3+cha mod from sorcerer? Help me out here, it seems pointless to build off of a skill i can only use for 3+cha mod rounds!

Dark Archive

Thank you for the help! That's exactly what I needed to know.

Dark Archive

I see. My next question was if he introduces himself as Adivion. So how about if he introduces himself as Adivion, but all other references to him have a nickname? Or should it be the opposite? He uses codenames etc, but references to him that are found should be stating his actual name?

I just dont want to give him away as the enemy, but I want him to meet the PCs.

Dark Archive

But my question is, the way the campaign is written, if I name drop him some or have him meet the pcs, will they still not find out that he's the bad guy til book 6 or will it be easy to suspect?

Dark Archive

The PCs are just about to present evidence for day 1 in ToTB and then will be heading to Sanctuary tonight!

Dark Archive

Hello everyone, I am looking into suggestions for adding Adivion Adrissant into my game a little sooner than book 6. I know there is an entire thread on this, but it seems a little advanced for my knowledge of the story thus far. Because of financial restraints, I am going about getting the books and PDFs on a book to book completion basis. I get the books a little bit before the PCs complete the last book. However, in reading through the Adivion thread, i'm missing bits of info on how to put my own spin on him, but it seems like its a good idea to get him involved before the actual campaign appearance.

My problem is: I dont know when he appears, and how much information to give away about him. My players are just past Brother Swarm in Trial of the Beast. I keep reading that having him at Ascanor Lodge is a good place for him, but why? How much is too much about him? How would you present him to the characters? Any help would be appreciated, since I am not fortunate enough to read TOO far ahead due to financial restraints, and it seems like most everyone has a bit more GM experience than I!

Thank you all in advance!

Dark Archive

Hello everyone,

I am going to be running Carrion Crown in about a week and a half. I've read through the first two books, and they seem fantastic so far. Now my dilemma: My players are into the feel of old school horror, etc. However, I am looking for ways to spice up the roleplay a bit in the game. I know this may seem like a very basic question, and maybe some groups arent cut out for roleplay as much as they are "hack n' slash", but I see a lot of roleplay potential in this AP. What tips or tricks, or maybe scenarios that youve added would be helpful for me to get them to fully embrace the roleplay aspect of this AP? Or maybe certain characters have intricacies that I should keep in mind when I introduce them to the group? Any and all of your experience, tips or stories from your own game would help me greatly!

Dark Archive

I very well may play a Cleric and just do that, but I did seem to enjoy the golem idea more. It just seems very unpractical to create golems as an actual PC. The cost seems astronomical to have more than one or two, and the gap in CR to CL is just too big of a gap. Like, what am I going to do with a CR 2 golem after I create it at CL 7?

I wish they wouldve made some sort of archetype that lowers the cost etc, while maybe sacrificing other things. It seems to hard to be a creator in Pathfinder, although I am not a long time player, and I could be missing key elements.

Dark Archive

Hello everyone, I am going to be partaking in a new campaign, and id like to try something different. Id like to make a character that actually creates his henchmen, golems or something even less complicated. However, my question is, how feasible is it to make a PC that can create things to fight for him?

What I find cool about the golem idea is the character himself going through the campaign collecting the necessary pieces or components. However, it seems that the difference between the CL and the creature being created is a sizeable difference, so a CR 8 golem and CL 12-13 doesnt seem nearly as useful.

Is there any economic/easy way to do this? I feel like playing a summoner is the easy way out of making all of this happen, although its been suggested to me.

Dark Archive

Has Gunslinger been made into its own class? Am I late on this?!

Dark Archive

Hello everyone, where can I find information on how to make a Hellknight playable PC? Is it specifically in one of the pathfinder books? Is this a 10 level PRC or a 15 level like I remember seeing?

What kind of suggestions would everyone have about the character's personality etc? He is only level 2, so he would currently not be a hellknight of course, but its definitely something to work towards!

Thank you!

Dark Archive

I agree with you AlanM. I wouldnt mind only a few Prestiges, because they are giving us A LOT of variety with variants, however its always nice to see multiclass options with prestiges. I hope they include a few in the book.

Dark Archive

Was it announced anywhere or confirmed/denied if there would be any prestige classes in this book? Ive been told that Paizo plans to shift a bit away from Prestiges and more towards Archetypes, but alas I was curious.

Dark Archive

My only thought, having dmed the adventure path is.. (and lets see if im posting a spoiler right.. but just incase.. SPOILER ALERT!)

Spoiler:
The Lopper, one of the Ghosts of Harrowstone has sunlight powerlessness, being a wraith variant. Although this doesnt ruin the dungeon, if you're hoping for extremely challenging fights, being an Aasimar ends this one pretty quick by using the spell "daylight".

Hello all, ive read the threads on how useful an improved familiar can be, so ive decided that I want to create a familiar. Im now an 11th level wizard, CG alignment. I am choosing between an Imp or a Silvanshee. I would assume since Imps are Lawful Evil, that theres no way I can get an imp anyways. So it looks like its the Silvanshee for me.

However, do I get the exact same Silvanshee thats in the book, with just more HP, HD, and better saves, as well as the abilities on the ability table? Do I use the exact STR, DEX, CON, etc thats in the beastiary? How many lay on hands would I have at this level, and how powerful would it be?

The rules on this seem a little vague, however I may be just missing something.

Dark Archive

I understand that I may hurl the creature 30 feet, using my caster level + modifier as the attack roll. However what I do not understand is this text,

"The target creature can make a Fortitude saving throw each
time you attempt to use it as a weapon. If it makes its saving
throw it can act normally, but if it fails its save it loses all actions
for the round and ends its turn prone in a square adjacent to the
target of your attack. However, if the creature chooses to resist
your efforts to move it, taking no other actions for the round,
it gets a +4 circumstance bonus on its saving throw. The spell
ends immediately if the target creature dies or is destroyed."

So since the duration is 1rnd/lvl, that means that once I cast the spell, it goes for X number of turns = to my level? So I cast it once and then every turn I can attempt to hurl it?

Also, if it fails its save, then it "loses all actions", does this mean that on its turn it cant act? And if it makes its save it cant be thrown?

But it can also choose to resist for a +4 bonus on the save? If it chooses to resist, then it cant take any more actions on its next turn because it chose to resist?

What about if it chooses not to resist, is it automatically thrown?

Justin Franklin wrote:
It would be a Large Skeleton. The stats are under Skeleton in the Bestiary.

So in other words, it cant fly, however it would keep all of its wing and claw attacks, including bite and tail slap?

Dark Archive

Hello all, in my Rise of the Runelords Campaign I recently used a scroll of animate dead that I found on a juvenile red dragon.

I animated him into a bone dragon to help the party in the raid on Sandpoint. My question is, how would I figure out the stats and how many attacks a juvenile bone red dragon has? Im a bit newer to animate dead rules, so I need help figuring it out.

Thanks everyone!

Dark Archive

Hello all,

I am running The Haunting of Harrowstone, and my players are about to go into Harrowstone. I am a newer DM. My question is:

Harrowstone's map for the PCs to explore is drawn where each square ='s 10 feet. What happens when a PC gets into a battle inside Harrowstone? What happens to 5 foot shifts, and other movements within combat? What is an experienced suggestion on how to run battles in a situation like this?

Dark Archive

I have a few questions about this character. If im using animate dead I have to have onyx gems worth 25gp per hit dice? So basically I have to have a bag full of onyx gems, and hope that whatever I am raising matches one of my gems in terms of HD?

Is there an improved animate dead? In the book it says that the spell only works on things that have 15-20 or less HD.

Dark Archive

Id prefer not to play dhampir, but thank you. And the bones Oracle is my 2nd choice.

Dark Archive

Hello all, I'm making a raise dead cleric for a campaign tomorrow and starting at level 2. I'm curious. Are there any traits or feats or anything where you can pick a race and count it is unread for the purposes of being healed by negative energy?

What would be suggested for this build?

Dark Archive

Hello all, I am in the first book of Serpents Skull, and I have recently died. I will be starting at level 2. I was wondering: I really want to play an animate dead cleric or possibly an Oracle..

Without spoilers, would this character work in the concept of the campaign? Would I have enough "Ammo" (IE bodies) to animate later on in this campaign? Or should I save this character for a more urban campaign?

Animate dead only works on humanoids correct?

Any suggestion on the build would be helpful also?

Thanks!
