/Hi guys, Now that I'm more settled in the region (moved in Jan from Europe), I'm actively looking for a game around Ottawa. My preferences go to PF or 3.5, but I'm opened to any other game if the group is cool and willing to take in a newcomer. I'm 33, French native but I'm fluent in English, and I've been gaming for the last 20 years, D&D, Pendragon, WFRP, Cthulhu, etc... I love playing, but I love DMing too. I'm free most evenings and weekends. I like all kinds of gaming styles, but my natural prefence would go towards well constructed adventures, and exploration/intrigue. Mind you, a good dungeon crawl is fun too! Contact me guys! Thanks :) ProfessorCirno wrote:
and let's not forget the ending of the main quest, where you get to watch a cinematic sequence featuring NPC vs bad guy...most frustrating moment in gaming ever! Hi guys, Another silly question, apologies if it had already been answered before. Some combat feats require a high BAB (ex: Critical Focus, BAB +9), does that mean that a 7th level fighter with a BAB of +7/+2 can take this feat, or does he have to wait until he hits level 9 when his full BAB hits +9? Confused me. Oliver McShade wrote:
So does that mean that a wizard putting ranks in UMD could use a wand of cure light wounds too? I would say it is possible, right? Hiya, If you're happy to welcome new players to your group in a few months time, I'll be in Toronto around June/July for a couple years and I'll definitely look for a group then. I'm 32, originally from France (lived in Ireland for the last 5 years), and I've been playing and DMing D&D/PF and the Realms for the last 10/15 years. Would love to hook up then if you're still looking for players! :) Hi Nic, thanks for your response. Our plan is to spend a few months in Ottawa, as my girlfriend will be doing research there, before moving to Toronto in June/July for the long run. I'd definitely love to meet when I'm finally there - can't wait by the way. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply, thanks a mil :) hogarth wrote:
Great, thanks for the info, is the D&D/PF scene big in Toronto? And this old time classic will definitely soothe everyone, and bring us the real xmas spirit: "Old Saint Nick's got Bourbon breath
It's a merry f$@*in' Christmas Everything's so Criss-muss-ee
All the kids go to bed each night
Crappy toys flyin' off the shelves
Cracklin' fires to keep me warm
Just read through that thread, with American and anti-american feelings, etc... and I happen to have the perfect lyrics to make everyone happy: Right wing commies
Type O Negative, for those who know. Hi guys, I'm currently planning my next campaign, and I am going to import the excellent Price of Immortality campaign arc into the Realms. Here are some of my picks for important locations General campaign set around the Moonsea/Vast and the Pirate isles
My biggest challenge is finding or creating a Faerunian equivalent for Razmir. Who could that be? Where could the center of the cult be located? Any idea folks? I don't know if that's bad news really. Don't want to appear contrary but let's be honest for a second, LOTR (apart from the first one)is a cheese fest that has gotten very old very fast, and the prospect of having the same guy at the helm of the project is quite frightening. Sure, Del Toro is capable (Pan's Labyritnh is great), but look at his catalogue and you'll see crap too (sorry, Hellboy fans). So, no messiah either. I loved Peter Jackson when he did Braindead and Bad Taste, but I don't know if I can stomach another attempt of his at Tolkien. I have not seen it, and frankly, I am sure that this "epic" movie will be SO kitsch in less than 10 years that it won't even be funny. Noticed how the majority of blockbusters-out-of-space age so disgracefully? Once the excitement of technology fades away, what remains is the plot. And in the case of Avatar... Hi all, I have a simple house rule for armor damage that maybe some of you have already tried in one way or another. Very simple and easy to keep track of, since that doesn't create additional stats or anything. Basically, every time a character goes down, his armor loses 1 point of AC, to reflect the damage suffered that caused the character to go down. For magic armor, I let the wearers roll a save (Fort or Ref). It is obviously possible to repair the armor, more power to those who put ranks in Craft like that! Let me know what you think. Hi guys, Me and my gf are moving to Canada next January, and when the time comes, I will inevitably have an RPG itch and start looking for a game and new pals to play with. Once we're settled and used to our new surroundings. As we will be in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, I just wanted to know if there are lots of gamers in the area, and more precisely PF/3.5 gamers? Not that I have anything against other games or editions (myself, I love Cthulhu, Alternity, Pendragon and Warhammer to name a few), but that would be my game of choice. I know it's a wee bit early to start "shopping around" for groups, but if I can already make some contacts, that would be cool! I'm 32, and I'm French, while the miss is Irish (hence the "wee bit" I learned to use for everything. That and "cheers" he he). Been living in Ireland for 5 years, and looking forward to the move and discovering our new country! See ya If you are into strategy games, may I recommend you the great games from Paradox Interactive, Europa Universalis 3, Crusader Kings and the likes? These games have so much depth, and such active communities that it is weirdly reminiscent of the Paizo community here. wwwdotparadoxplazadotcom For a good old-school PCRPG, I really recommend Drakensang, it is based on the rules of the Dark Eye RPG (German equivalent to D&D) and will give you a very nice BG-like team-based adventure. The story arc is quite classic, but the graphics are gorgeous and there is very nice depth added with personalizable character advancement, simple and fun alchemy , blacksmithing, bowyering, etc.... Playing it right now, and it's great! And the good news don't stop here as the sequel will be available by the end of the year, and episode 3 is already in the works. wwwdotdrakensangdotcom Can't say however I recommend Dragon Age, as it was very boring and very much pre-formatted if you know what I mean. OK cool, why not another shortsword attack too? Off-hand weapon gives you only 1 extra attack, whatever your BAB is? Correct? Hey guys, I'm a bit confused with the cumulation of high BAB and two-weapon fighting. Say we have a 6th level fighter with a BAB of +6/+1, holding a longsword and a shortword with the 2WP Feat. His STR bonus is +3, giving us +9/+4 total. So if this fighter strikes during a full-round action at an enemy, does that mean that he gets 4 attacks total (2 for longsword, 2 for shortsword) or only 1 additional attack due to 2nd weapon. If last case scenario, what bonus should you apply to the attack? Thanks for the clarification! kid america wrote: Very disappointing. Nowhere near the caliber of the MMidnight Syndicate: Dungeons & Dragons Official RPG Soundtrack CD or any of the Lord of the Rings soundtracks. The album does not make good background music for gaming because the tracks are up and down. There's a Celtic ballad, then an action scene/fight track, then a whimsical tavern track, then brooding track, then a whimsical magical track, then an action scene/fight track. My group was scratching their heads at the track order/arrangement on the CD. One of the whimsical tracks completely killed the mood on a villain fight. It's okay to listen to as a general listening CD, but is definitely not arranged to be used as background music for gaming. Did it actually occur to you that you should pre-select the tracks yourself? Just wondering that's all :) Thanks again for all your replies folks. I started my new game this weekend with 2 new players and one of the lads from the old group, and we had fun! A player from the old group will be joining us in April when his exams are done, for now I play him as a NPC. I think it was the relaunch that I needed, and it was great! Funny enough, one of the least motivated players from the old group has contacted us and wants to run a game at his place. Strange isn't it? Told him I had a new game running, so would be busy DMing for a while, however would like being a player for a change! Oh, and Doug, if you are considering a move to Ireland, my gaming table is open! :) Hi guys, Thank you all so much for your replies, amazing feedback! Even though I'm sure it's great, and I have liked the bits of Greyhawk lore I have stumbled upon in the past, I have recently acquired some books from the Scarred Lands line, and I'm really really impressed with this setting. So much impressed that I have decided to start a campaign on Scarn. So for now, I think I will be just fine! Again, thanks so much for taking the time to reply, and wish you all great games!
