Excellent,

Many thanks Cosmo!

Hey guys,

I placed order #2388117 on January, 5, and it is still pending. I was wondering if you'd have more info regarding the status of the order.

Is it pending because you're out of stock on some items?

Let me know,

Many thanks

I'm currently running a Pendragon 5th edition game, but I will run an Alternity game after this.

It's been a long time, and Alternity does sci-fi better than any other games!

Looking for older, grizzled players with a love of beer and open to different kinds of systems.

Hey there,

I'm in Ottawa and looking for a game. Are you still searching for players?

Hi there,

I'm in Ottawa and looking for a game.

Anyone around these parts looking for a new player?

Let me know :)

/Hi guys,

Now that I'm more settled in the region (moved in Jan from Europe), I'm actively looking for a game around Ottawa. My preferences go to PF or 3.5, but I'm opened to any other game if the group is cool and willing to take in a newcomer.

I'm 33, French native but I'm fluent in English, and I've been gaming for the last 20 years, D&D, Pendragon, WFRP, Cthulhu, etc... I love playing, but I love DMing too.

I'm free most evenings and weekends. I like all kinds of gaming styles, but my natural prefence would go towards well constructed adventures, and exploration/intrigue. Mind you, a good dungeon crawl is fun too!

Contact me guys! Thanks :)

What was so terrible about Oblivion?
Terrible plot, terrible engine, boring side quests, the worst implimention of level scaling imaginable, and they took everything cool and unique about the setting and turned it into Ye Olde Britishe Land. No point in dungeon delving due to how the level scaling worked, no point in doing the plot due to how terrible it was, no point in exploring due to how boring and samey the setting was. No point in playing the game.

and let's not forget the ending of the main quest, where you get to watch a cinematic sequence featuring NPC vs bad guy...most frustrating moment in gaming ever!

Thanks, and don't worry, I'm sure you'll find new players to join your group very soon, I noticed it's always working by periods for finding new players :)

Cool,

thanks Gnome!

Hi guys,

Another silly question, apologies if it had already been answered before.

Some combat feats require a high BAB (ex: Critical Focus, BAB +9), does that mean that a 7th level fighter with a BAB of +7/+2 can take this feat, or does he have to wait until he hits level 9 when his full BAB hits +9?

Confused me.

Sorcerer and wizard use the same spell list (( list of spell you can select your spells from ))

A spell that is not on a sorcerer spell list is like spell only a Bard, Cleric, Druid, +new class, would know.

Examples =

So you would need Use Magic Device for a Sorcerer to use a Cure light wounds wand.

So you would need Use Magic Device for a Bard to use a Fireball wand.

So you would need Use Magic Device for a Cleric to use Arcane Lock wand.

etc.

So does that mean that a wizard putting ranks in UMD could use a wand of cure light wounds too? I would say it is possible, right?

Look who's back! :)

I eventually bought the LGG quite recently, and I indeed love the setting, thanks guys, your efforts were not in vain!

Makes sense, thanks Andrew!

Hey guys,

Just a quick and easy question, yet I can't seem to find the answer in the core rulebook.

Is it possible for spellcasters to brew potions of, say, mage armor, shield and the likes?

I remember that in 3.5, it was impossible.

Thanks for the clarification, and have a nice weekend.

Hey guys,

I'm 33 and moving to Ottawa in January from Europe. Been playing for 20 years or so, and I'm looking for a group to join. I am a DM/player, and my fav games are 3.5/PF, Cthulhu, Warhammer, Pendragon and Alternity.

Hopefully we can hook up?

Talk soon

Hiya,

If you're happy to welcome new players to your group in a few months time, I'll be in Toronto around June/July for a couple years and I'll definitely look for a group then.

I'm 32, originally from France (lived in Ireland for the last 5 years), and I've been playing and DMing D&D/PF and the Realms for the last 10/15 years.

Would love to hook up then if you're still looking for players! :)

Hi Nic,

thanks for your response.

Our plan is to spend a few months in Ottawa, as my girlfriend will be doing research there, before moving to Toronto in June/July for the long run. I'd definitely love to meet when I'm finally there - can't wait by the way.

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply, thanks a mil :)

Oh, then maybe I should reconsider my move and move to Saskatoon or Regina!

Plus they have a good football team in Saskatchewan! :)

Well, I suppose it will be easier setting up a group/meeting gamers in Toronto than it would be in Saskatchewan anyway! :)

Can't wait to see how Canadian gamers approach D&D/PF compared to our side of the Atlantic.

I think I've seen Pathfinder games posted on both groups at some point.

Great, thanks for the info, is the D&D/PF scene big in Toronto?

Hey,

I'll be moving to Toronto from Ireland early next year, I'll be definitely looking for players then, I can play or DM.

Let's keep in touch? :)

Stop arguing kids, time for your weetabix and a good nap. :)

And this old time classic will definitely soothe everyone, and bring us the real xmas spirit:

"Old Saint Nick's got Bourbon breath
It's so cold you could catch your death
A cop sold me some crystal meth

It's a merry f#@@in' Christmas

Everything's so Criss-muss-ee
The streets are twinkling with frozen pee
My priest just sat on Santa's knee
It's a merry f$!#in' Christmas

All the kids go to bed each night
To dream what Santa brings 'em
Unless they're Jewish or Muslim
Or some other gyp religion

Crappy toys flyin' off the shelves
Midgets dressed up to look like elves
Spread good cheer or burn in Hell
It's a merry f&$&in' Christmas

Cracklin' fires to keep me warm
And my collection of Asian porn
Cradle my bells and work my horn
It's a keep-on-truckin'
Last-year-suckin'
Midget-chuckin'
Slap-the-puckin'
How-much-wood-could-a-woodchuck-chuckin'
Merrrry f*****in' Christmaaaaaas"

Just read through that thread, with American and anti-american feelings, etc... and I happen to have the perfect lyrics to make everyone happy:

Right wing commies
Leftist Nazis
Point their fingers
Rumours linger
We don't care what you think
Branded sexist
Labelled racist
Want it clearer?
Check the mirror
We don't care what you think
Lies and slander, in vain try to shame us
Riots, protests, violence just makes us famous
TV interviews, free publicity
Increase record sales dramatically
The left, they say I'm fascist
The right calling me communist
Hate, hate, hate, hatred for all-one and all
No matter what you beleive
Don't believe in you-and that's true
Some would say that we're biased
Accusations that we are racist
Well, s#&& comes in all hues
Now this means you
'Cause things ain't always like they seem
Like they seem
We hate everyone
We don't care what you you think

Type O Negative, for those who know.

After reading through some of my FR books (2nd ed/3rd ed), I'm leaning more and more towards Tethyr and the neighbouring regions.

Razmir could be a chosen of a dead deity, who is trying since the Time of Troubles to re-establish the might of the cult.

Many thanks Set,

These are really nice ideas, and I will certainly make good use of some if not all of them!

Hi guys,

I'm currently planning my next campaign, and I am going to import the excellent Price of Immortality campaign arc into the Realms.

Here are some of my picks for important locations

General campaign set around the Moonsea/Vast and the Pirate isles
-Kassen is in the northern Vast region, not far from Mulmaster
-Tamran is replaced by the good old city of Saltmarsh, I located it close to the Flooded Forest, at the border between the Dalelands and the Vast.
-The Isle of Terror is one of the numerous Pirate Isles of the Sea of Fallen Stars.
-Rather than the slaying place of a god, the Isle of Terror has been extremely marked by the Times of Trouble in 1358DR, and could have been the resting place of one of the numerous avatars that walked on the world then.

My biggest challenge is finding or creating a Faerunian equivalent for Razmir. Who could that be? Where could the center of the cult be located?

Any idea folks?

Well, at then end of the day, the only real question I can think of is not if Spiderman will be white, black, orange or a Smurf, but rather:

Do we really need another Spiderman novie?

When you mean progressive, you mean progressive as in progressive-democrat, similar to what you can find in the UK for ex?

I don't know if that's bad news really.

Don't want to appear contrary but let's be honest for a second, LOTR (apart from the first one)is a cheese fest that has gotten very old very fast, and the prospect of having the same guy at the helm of the project is quite frightening.

Sure, Del Toro is capable (Pan's Labyritnh is great), but look at his catalogue and you'll see crap too (sorry, Hellboy fans). So, no messiah either.

I loved Peter Jackson when he did Braindead and Bad Taste, but I don't know if I can stomach another attempt of his at Tolkien.

Has anybody ever read that? The Beowulf story told by the monster.

I have to say it's very good, and extremely original. I would recommend it to anybody with a taste for mythology with a twist :)

I have not seen it, and frankly, I am sure that this "epic" movie will be SO kitsch in less than 10 years that it won't even be funny.

Noticed how the majority of blockbusters-out-of-space age so disgracefully? Once the excitement of technology fades away, what remains is the plot. And in the case of Avatar...

Is it the one with Sam Neill?

If yes, then prepare for a massive kitsch attack, it's enjoyable for what it is though, but it won't make you forget John Boorman's Excalibur.

Happy Canada Day all!

Interesting. I've considered letting the player decide to apply damage done to his PC to his PC's armor or shield instead.

Maybe it would be too easy to abuse the rule at high levels?

You should play Warhammer FRP.

It does have rules for parry, and you can even say it's at the core of the combat rules. Very often, without parry, you're orc meat!

Madcap Storm King wrote:

You're right, very simple and easy to keep track of.

What's the DC?

DC15, with the number of negative HP the character is at as a penalty on the roll. Same mechanic as stabilisation more or less, so easy to remember.

Hi all,

I have a simple house rule for armor damage that maybe some of you have already tried in one way or another.

Very simple and easy to keep track of, since that doesn't create additional stats or anything.

Basically, every time a character goes down, his armor loses 1 point of AC, to reflect the damage suffered that caused the character to go down. For magic armor, I let the wearers roll a save (Fort or Ref). It is obviously possible to repair the armor, more power to those who put ranks in Craft like that!

Let me know what you think.

Hi guys,

Me and my gf are moving to Canada next January, and when the time comes, I will inevitably have an RPG itch and start looking for a game and new pals to play with. Once we're settled and used to our new surroundings.

As we will be in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, I just wanted to know if there are lots of gamers in the area, and more precisely PF/3.5 gamers? Not that I have anything against other games or editions (myself, I love Cthulhu, Alternity, Pendragon and Warhammer to name a few), but that would be my game of choice.

I know it's a wee bit early to start "shopping around" for groups, but if I can already make some contacts, that would be cool! I'm 32, and I'm French, while the miss is Irish (hence the "wee bit" I learned to use for everything. That and "cheers" he he). Been living in Ireland for 5 years, and looking forward to the move and discovering our new country!

See ya

I really don't, and I am European. French to be more precise.

However, I'm a big fan of what you call football in North-America.

Go figure :)

Meh.

I tried some of her books, but never could finish them.

Dunno, there's something in her style that bores me. The stories don't enthrall me either.

But hey, that's just me.

I really liked this trilogy too.

It's a demanding read, many many pages to go through, but I devoured it.

Truely a classic I think.

I gave the links didn't I? :)

OK let me try something else.

If you are into strategy games, may I recommend you the great games from Paradox Interactive, Europa Universalis 3, Crusader Kings and the likes? These games have so much depth, and such active communities that it is weirdly reminiscent of the Paizo community here.

wwwdotparadoxplazadotcom

For a good old-school PCRPG, I really recommend Drakensang, it is based on the rules of the Dark Eye RPG (German equivalent to D&D) and will give you a very nice BG-like team-based adventure. The story arc is quite classic, but the graphics are gorgeous and there is very nice depth added with personalizable character advancement, simple and fun alchemy , blacksmithing, bowyering, etc.... Playing it right now, and it's great! And the good news don't stop here as the sequel will be available by the end of the year, and episode 3 is already in the works.

wwwdotdrakensangdotcom

Can't say however I recommend Dragon Age, as it was very boring and very much pre-formatted if you know what I mean.

Now I get it! I was re-reading the SRD.

"If you wield a second weapon in your off hand, you can get ONE extra attack per round with that weapon"

So that off-hand weapon strikes with your highest BAB. Finally! :)

Thanks a mil!

Hey guys,

I'm a bit confused with the cumulation of high BAB and two-weapon fighting.

Say we have a 6th level fighter with a BAB of +6/+1, holding a longsword and a shortword with the 2WP Feat. His STR bonus is +3, giving us +9/+4 total.

So if this fighter strikes during a full-round action at an enemy, does that mean that he gets 4 attacks total (2 for longsword, 2 for shortsword) or only 1 additional attack due to 2nd weapon. If last case scenario, what bonus should you apply to the attack?

Thanks for the clarification!

He would attack longsword +7 (1d8+3), shortsword +7 (1d6+1), longsword +2 (1d8+3).

OK cool, why not another shortsword attack too? Off-hand weapon gives you only 1 extra attack, whatever your BAB is? Correct?

Very disappointing. Nowhere near the caliber of the MMidnight Syndicate: Dungeons & Dragons Official RPG Soundtrack CD or any of the Lord of the Rings soundtracks. The album does not make good background music for gaming because the tracks are up and down. There's a Celtic ballad, then an action scene/fight track, then a whimsical tavern track, then brooding track, then a whimsical magical track, then an action scene/fight track. My group was scratching their heads at the track order/arrangement on the CD. One of the whimsical tracks completely killed the mood on a villain fight. It's okay to listen to as a general listening CD, but is definitely not arranged to be used as background music for gaming.

Did it actually occur to you that you should pre-select the tracks yourself?

Just wondering that's all :)

If you're really bothered with the situation, and if you think there is nothing more you can do, do as I did a few months back and disband your group.

Try to find new people to play with, it will make yourself happier, believe me.

I'm surprised nobody mentions Pendragon, which remains the best system ever in terms of character interaction and roleplaying.

If you like your fantasy blended with mythology and history, go for it, it still is my favourite game of all time.
