One of the heavy hitters at Paizo made an interesting proposal on Paizochat tonight, renaming 'Kingmaker' to 'Government of Your Choicemaker.' I think that is a nice alternative.

Who agrees?

I do! :P

I've heard that the PFRPG is off to the priners shortly!

CONGRATULATIONS PAIZO!

A great accomplishment and I wish you all the best of success.

Now just answer me this one question if you could please, how many cartons of cigs did Buhlman have to devour to get through this feat? :P

Hey Josh-

From reading the events listed on the Paizo Blog for PaizoCon '09, it appears that many of the workshops have a prerequisite in order to qualify for participation in them, for example, for the Pathfinder Society Workshop it appears that you must have already submitted a scenario that was rejected in order to qualify for the workshop.

For the Paizo Fiction Workshop do you have to have already submitted a work of short fiction that was rejected by the Paizo Fiction editors in order to qualify for that workshop?

It would be much appreciated if you could specify who should go or who qualifies to enter the upcoming workshops at the Con. Or, you could also specify who shouldn't be enrolling in the workshops.

Thank you very much sir! Any assistance to these inquiries would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers-
GG

Amiri-

Ahem, blatant Final Fantasy 7 rip-off... If Cloud were a woman, this is what she'd be like.. Come on guys!

Of course, many of the new school of gaming will shake their heads...

"Final Fantasy 7!?"

"What the heck is that?" or "Man, the graphics on that game were crappus maximus! GAG! ACK!"

"They named characters after visible manifestations of condensed water vapor for video games in the 90s? What a lame decade that was!"

I think you guys could do better, you are one of the most exciting companies in the RPG industry and this was a bit of a let down.

But, you are the uber corporation now, so I guess whatever floats your stufloaten.. (ah yes stufloaten.. How can a post like this be taken seriously with fictitious words)

Cheers-
GG

Yes, it's been mentioned in these threads.. And people here should consider it...

I just ordered the Harrow Deck and the Guide to Korvosa... Paizo packed the deal in shredded paper in a box.. And the UPS gave me the package with a huge dent in the box.. So the Guide to Korvosa is bent and mangled horribly.. So maybe anybody considering their shipping options for future orders.. Spend the extra few bucks for the insurance.. I know I wish I did.

As for the UPS.. To quote from Joe Piscapo (misspelling.. Sorry Joe)..

"FARGIN ICEHOLES!"

Is there ever going to be a point in CoCT where the Hell Knights will be given a stats block in the publications?

Hey one and all-
I'm looking for some ideas for some adventure seeds in a Frostburn setting. That's where the campaign begins.
The PCs are fugitives and they need to cross a vast snow plain, dotted here and there by hills. As far as existing civilizations in the plain goes... the plain is occupied by 7 everfrost barbarian tribes. The PCs will be hopping to and from various settlements of these tribes. Anybody willing to put forth any random adventure seeds that the PCs could learn about as they go from settlement to settlement?
I have an idea about them possibly getting involved in tribal conflicts, but they may not be interested, so I want to give them several options as to what they could do... And it may be in their best interest to remain neutral as it is.. Their goal is to cross the plains and reach the west coast, where they can catch a ship to sail to warmer climes further south..
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-
GG

Unfortunately, my goal of doing RORL adventure path has not come to fruition. My PCs like the Eberron campaign I'm running.. Alas.
Although I like RORL.. The whole idea of a city based adventure is the fashizzle! So I'm thinking by the time Eberron is done, I may end up starting COCT instead... And then I have a homebrew campaign that starts off in Frostburn type settings.. Damn, you can see the problems with ADD DMs.

I love the work of Pathfinder so far, but I'm not enthused about Paizo devoting more page coverage to the iconics. That extra page or so could be better spent on covering the campaign setting itself or another monster, or even an NPC in the adventure path.
Iconics are just fillers as far as I'm concerned, not to say that alot of thought and work hasn't been done concerning them as far as the Paizo staff, it's just my impression that they're "could've been" PCs.
Fact is, the players have already rolled up their characters and are using them, the DM does NOT need the iconics period.. Unless he/she decides to use them as NPCs or a PC dies and is up to using the iconics rather than rolling up a new character. In my campaign, I only have three players so they're playing gestalts (a nice suggestion in a previous post by ... can't remember his/her name. ).
I request that Paizo put those 2 pages to better use with something more helpful for DMs running the Pathfinder campaign.

From the sneak peeks of the bestiary of PF#2 it looks like the PCs are going to have some tense encouners with some swampies in the vicinity of Brinestump Marsh... And it has been stated that the Hinterlands will be covered more in PF#2. But how much will be covered in PF#2?

Have any DMs come up with any ideas as to mysteries, weirdness, and creatures of the regions listed below:

Grubber's Hermitage-

Dragon's Punchbowl-

Sog's Bay- (home of the mythical- or is it? Giant Snapper known as Murdermaw)

The Pyre-

Ashen Moor-

Bleaklow Moor-

Whisperwood-

Habel's Asylum- (covered in PF#2??)

Egan's Wood-

Wisher's Well-

Ravenroost-

Tickwood-

Tors: Leb's Tors
Rigg's Tors
Task's Tors

Whisperwood Moor-

Ashen Rise-

Devil's Platter- pretty obvious, home of the arse-kicking Sandpoint Devil, aka- potential party TPK for the first 2 PFs I'd say.

Shank's Wood-

Pauper's Graves-

The Three Cormorants-

Nettlewood and Mosswood have goblin tribes.. (possibly an ideal ambush point for the Scarzni bandits- discussed in Smuggle Bunnies thread.. The bandits would use goblinoid weapons to make it look like the caravan got hit by a goblin raid)

What are your thoughts?

(Allusion to "So I Married An Axe Murderer")

Can any of the Paizo staffers wet our respective appetites for the H-Knights? Are they going to be a new prestige class? Or are they simply a version of a prestige class in other 3.5 books?

An idea of a completely urban focused campaign has got me really stoked for issues 7-9.. I don't recollect anybody doing this.. Although I'm sure it's been done before.. Still looking forward to Khorvosa.

With the deadlines that have passed and those that loom ahead for the writing staff of the Pathfinder line, how do you writers get motivated to write when you're feeling "stuck" or uninspired?
Are there any "cure-alls" for when you hit a wall and run out of ideas for writing the adventure paths?

As an aside, I see alot of potential for the Pathfinder series now that Paizo has been liberated to some degree from the WOTC "yoke."

I still see alot of loyalty to the familiar patterns of thought for traditional D&D campaigns brought forth by WOTC and TSR through the years, probably due to the fact that a few of the guys on the Paizo staff have been involved in D&D for decades.

I'm hoping that in some regards the Pathfinder series will break away from some of the traditions established in WOTC's current campaign settings.. Regardless, I'm really excited about Pathfinder, and truly look forward to what Paizo has in store for us in the coming months.

As has been encouraged by a few of the posters,I hope Paizo breaks into something unique and refreshing regarding campaign settings.. So far, so good, judging from the little ditties I see posted on the blogs.

Yeah I meandered here a bit, for that I apologize, and I hope somebody answers the original question.

To Erik, James, and all the rest of the folks involved with the Pathfinder line, I wish you unending moments of inspiration and of course, the best of success.

I just checked out the D&D homepage and noticed in their overview of Dragon #339 no mention is made of a Wormfood article. I guess this means its 'kapootz' for the Wormfood section eh?

My PCs had a horrible time trying to gather info from Kullen's gang after investigating the Land farmhouse. The PCs have some very bad diplomacy rolls in the Feral Dog, causing Kullen to be antagonized to the point where a nasty bar room brawl breaks out and half of Kullen's gang gets slain. The half-orc flees the premises and the party pursues, except for the rogue PC, who tailed the mage Merovinn downstairs to watch a dog-fight. So the rogue nor the mage were involved in said brawl.
The party flees the Dog before the sheriff gets alerted and pick up Kullen's tracks to a hideout outside of town. The rogue gets wind of what happened and meets the party at the inn where they're staying for a plan of action (The Able Carter Coaching Inn). The PCs attempt to ambush Kullen at the hideout, this time Merovinn is with him. The ambush goes horribly wrong, botched hide and move silently rolls.. Merovinn dies, but not before leaving the monk PC drained of most of his strength ( two hits from the ray of enfeeblement wand).. Again Kullen flees.
So the PCs are left with no info on why Kullen and his gang robbed the Land gravesite.
The PCs get impatient, and two of them (the monk and the halfling sorceror) go back to the Dog after resting for a couple days. Somebody tips the sheriff, who arrives at the Dog and arrests and imprisons the players.
The sheriff is on Smenk's payroll and tells Smenk that he's got a couple of the "rubes" who took out Kullen's gang. So Smenk decides to have the PCs fight one of his dire apes in the basement of his mansion for some revenge and entertainment for his "guests." The sheriff transports the PCs to Smenk's mansion for the fight.
Meanwhile, the rogue gets wind of this through some nice Gather Info checks at old stomping grounds at the Emporium and rallies most of the party for a crazy rescue attempt inside the Smenk mansion.
Alustan decides to help by giving the PCs some healing potions and he dimension doors the PCs into the foyer of the mansion. From there, the cleric and the half-orc ranger fight their way into the basement through the remaining two dire apes and Smenk's dozen bodyguards. The monk almost dies but is stabilized by the halfling in a nice Heal check roll.
The PCs haul ass out of the mansion and meet up with the rogue outside of town at the ol' mining office who tells them that a necromancer hired Kullen's gang for the farmhouse jaunt.
The PCs raid the observatory and capture Filge but watch helplessly as Filge is assassinated by an arrow through the throat (the assassin was hired by Smenk who trailed the PCs to the observatory and waited for the opportune moment, which in this case was a nice window shot from one of the bedroom windows as a bound up Filge was being prodded down the stairs by the PCs).. The PCs don't know who killed Filge, they think it was Kullen that did it (when it was really a bounty hunter based on the template from the DMG2)..
So now the PCs can hit the last of the Whispering Cairn. It will be interesting to see how the PCs will react when Smenk invites them for dinner for a proposition into the bowels of Dourstone Mine.. I wonder what the PCs will do with the letter they found implicating Smenk? Should be interesting.

On the Road Again...
Just curious, has any DM out there role-played Alustan when he was journeying with the PCs out to Blackwall Keep?
Did you have him give the PCs a brief history on the Greyhawk Wars?
Or did you make up some interesting stories about Alustan's falling out with Tenser and have him make allusions to that on the journey?
How did you play this out?
Any thoughts or references on the Greyhawk history would be much appreciated. Thanks.
GG

I ordered and received all of the previous Dungeon mags with the 4 poster maps of the Flanaess... And I have one question so far in deciphering the maps: just what is the Solnor Compact? Any source material on this?

I can't believe I missed this!! The Player's Handbook 3.5 edition gives no information on the druid ability of wildshape. The errata on WOTC's D&D errata webpage of the PH 3.5 also does not address this problem.

Can anybody help with out with this regarding an explanation of what this ability does and what is its duration?
Thanks.

In Greyhawk: The Adventure Begins it states that Zagig was instrumental in the founding of Diamond Lake, but no dates are given as to the actual establishment of the settlement. Does anybody have any dates in mind? I would imagine it would be anywhere from 320-360 CY??

James or Erik, were you guys going to have the Wind Dukes Cairns and the Star Cairns to be one and the same?
