"Your support is much appreciated," the Eladrin replies to his companion, as he makes his way down the stairs. Upon seeing the illumination at the termination of the staircase, Dyrnwyn hesitates for a moment.

"Shall I extinguish this Light?" Dyrnwyn asks, pointing cautiously at the torch flickering below.
"Stealth may be to our advantage ..."

"Stealth would give us an advantage, but I perfer to see where I'm going" The paladin says jokingly.

"Apparently so, Silo," Dyrnwyn laughs, pondering his confusion. "I would attribute it to my near fatality in our first encounter with the kobolds. There might be residual damage."

"Either that or I need a drink."

"I will lead the way," he adds, positioning the staff before him and beginning the descent. "Be prepared to aid me, friends, as I wear no armor!"

"The tracks here suggest something different than kobolds. It appears that the creatures have shod feet."

Gran slaps Dyrnwyn on the shoulder, "No fear. I'll have your back. And see our encounter with the kobold as a test. Not only did we learn more about our scaled foes, but surely the Raven Queen's blessings are with us."

He shoulders his Glaive and follows Dyrnwyn.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Gran places his glaive in front Dyrnwyn.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"Looks like we're goin' in."

(Male Human Paladin/3)

After donning his armor and a quick bite. Gran readies himself mentally for the day.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

DM, how long has it been since we left town?

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"It shouldn't take them too long to realize their fellows are dead. IF we head back to town now we're inviting danger on the folk there", Gran stand sheathing his blade and slowly moving toward his polearm.

With a simple flick of his wrist, the glaive once again rests against his shoulder, "We should continue on."

(Male Human Paladin/3)

After a short rest and spending a healing surge(7 hp). Gran searches the kobolds for anything of use; Perception 1d20+1=12

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"Whew...Who knew that those little guys has that much 'fight' in them", Gran plants his sword into the earth and takes a seat. He scours the battlefield looking at the bodies laid about.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Move to S9. Divine Challenge on K5. Enfeebling Strike 1d20+6=22 (target takes a –2 penalty to attack rolls until the end of my next turn); Damage 1d6+3=7

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"Let's end this shall we", Gran rushes toward and swings his blade.

Charge to N11, Attack on K5 1d20+4=13; Damage 1d6+3

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Same actions as I posted earlier. Shift to L11. Minor action Lay on Hands on Silo. Radiant Strike on K2; Attack 1d20+6=15; Damage 2d6+3. I didn't have to go today, but thursday and friday are iffy.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Awesome at 15hp, thanks silo, and ready to crack some kobold skulls

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Shift to L11. Minor action Lay on Hands on Silo. Radiant Strike on K2; Attack 1d20+6=15; Damage 2d6+3. I may or may not be on in the coming 24 hours so I decided just to post my actions.

"Heh, can't let you die this easily" he grins down at the Eladrin.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

K4 is still marked correct?

Gran looks around at the surround kobolds, "Pesky things aren't ya." He lift his sword and brings in down in a hard arc.

Valiant Strike on K4 1d20+9=28; Damage 1d6+3=7. Also Spend an Action Point for a Valiant Strike on K3 1d20+10=22; Damage 1d6+3=9

(Male Human Paladin/3)

pat512 wrote:

Gran, I couldn't tell which one you were attacking, but k3 and k5 have the same defenses.

Sorry, K3.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Seeing that his attack had no effect, Gran throws down his shield and draws his short sword and shield.

Enfeebling Strike 1d20+6=12, if it hits he takes -2 on attack rolls until the end of my next turn; Damage 1d6+3=6; AC increases to 19.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"Damnamble beasts", he cries as he enters combat

Gran moves to L-12. Minor action Divine Challange on Kobold on M-11. Enfeebling Stike 1d20+3=15; Damage 2d4+6=11. Target (if marked) takes -2 penality to attack rolls until end of my next turn.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"Foul things"

Initiative 1d20+1

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Dyrnwyn wrote:

"Perhaps, we have been mislead..." he offers.

"Always a possibility", Gran says with a stretch. "But than sometimes the most obvious thing is the easiest to miss. The cult could have easily assimilated itself into the town. With no one being the wiser."

C-16, Perception 1d20+1=7

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"We were sent here by a priestess of the Great Church. Witnesses saw a group of cultists, lead by Kalarel, heading here a year ago. The priestess is concerned that they are in the area, and performing foul rites", Gray gives stretches slightly. "So it is up to my friends and myself to search the area."

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"Ah, interesting. Come in, come in. I am Valthrun, but I suppose you knew that. They -- the Haveners, I mean -- call me 'the Prescient,' you know, but I merely read a good deal."

Valthrun leads you up three flights of stairs, past empty, dusty rooms. The stairs open into a cozy den, with chairs piled high with books and papers. He starts busying himself trying to clear seats, but it is clear there is not enough room for the papers in areas that are not seats.

While he works, he begins, "The keep was built during the height of the old empire. Some sort of watchtower. I can't recall what for. Some think it was to guard against gnoll marauders, but I don't think that's right. Whatever, the keep outlived its usefulness. It's been a ruin since before I was born. Probably a goblin lair by this time. But you've whetted my curiosity. I'll look through my library."

Valthrun looks around the cluttered room helplessly. "The next time you see me, I will know more -- but maybe it should be at Wrafton's. I'm there most evenings."

"Wrafton's than", Gran starts to rise. "Tell me Valthrun have you heard of a person by the name of Kalarel? You see, he's the reason I ask about the keep."

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"My name is Gran Rey. My friends and I were wondering if we could ask you some questions over the old ruined keep up in the foothills of the Cairngorms." Gran gives a bow.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Rhiannis wrote:
"That looks like a decent lead. And if this Kalarel we seek is not there, at least those goblins will get a hard time. Let's find this ruined keep."

"Agreed, but first we should consult this Valthrun." He reaches into a bag and pulls a fresh apple. Biting deep into it's ripe juicey flesh.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Donning fresh clothes and his armor. He makes his way down to accompany Silo to the church and drop by the market.

"I wonder if they'll have any fruit?" Gran smiles, happier at the notion of fresh fruit than at finding clues about Kalarel

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"Well than, till tomorrow", Gran downs the last of his ale. "If you'll excuse me. My body aches for the days activites."

"Gentlemen", he stands flicking a gold piece on the table. "Pardon me innkeep, a room please"

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Gran leans back in the chair as he drinks his ale. He keeps an eye on the those in the room.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

"Hmm, This may come in handy", Gran picks up a shortsword and a dragonscale shield.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Luckly I have one left.

Gran places a hand, emitting the same pale, cold light as before, on the Eladrin.

"Not much, But it will help."

Lay on Hand and I'll spend a helaing surge on myself as well.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

With a sly smile Silo says to Gran “Gran pick up the pace or will you leave me all the Glory.” hoping to coax Gran into better performance.

A slight smile comes to his face, "Glory is something not to ssek my friend"

Gran lifts his blade and slams it down once again into the red-scale. A pale light surrounding it.

Spoiler:
Minor Action Divine Challenge on K7; Attack (K7) 1d20+5=25; Damage 2d4+6+2=16

Whats funny here is not only did I roll a crit, but I also rolled max damage. I've never done that before!

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Not a problem

"What a nuisance", Kai twirls his Glaive and slams it down on the red-scaled creature.

Spoiler:

Kai glances to his right at the other red-scale, "You're next after your friend"

Spoiler:
As a minor action I use Divine Challenge to mark K6.

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Gran moves to the closest Kobold, his glaive emitting a pale light, and strikes down.

Spoiler:
As a minor action I use Divine Challenge on the target. As my standard action I use Holy Strike; Attack 1d20+3=17; Damage 2d4+6+2(Wis Bonus)=12

Gran looks at the young Eladrin, "I'm sure something so small should be a concern for us. Let's keep moving. The more time we waste, the more time this cult has to strengthen itself."

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Gran Rey stands 6'2" and weighs 206 pounds, with dark-brown eyes. He has a well muscled frame.

He wears dark, twilight blue armor. A dark cloak, with a silvered raven clasp, draped over it. On his back he carries a large glaive. The polearm shaped like bone and colored black.

Spoiler:
As for the map, I'll take AA-11

(Male Human Paladin/3)

Well I got my background and personal info up. I hope it's ok(again not used to doing this yet).

Spoiler:

BACKGROUND

Rey's life in service to the Raven Queen started when he was 16. It was a cold spring morning. A young Rey found himself running for his life. Just a few hours ago he was with his family setting camp when it attacked.

With ease it buthered his parents, and Rey found himself running blind into the forest. Maybe it was luck, maybe fate; But as the boy ran he found himself plunging into an opening in the ground.
As he opened his eyes, he saw something outlined in the light coming from outside. It was the beast.

It was large pale creature. Where its hand should be were two huge claws, both easily bigger than the boy.
"Seems like our game has come to an end, Poppet." The creature raised it cruel hooked claw and slashed forward, the boys eyes closed shut.

There was sound. Like the wing beats of hundreds of birds. When he opened his eyes again the monster stood impaled. A large curved blade sticking out from it's chest. In an instant the blade was removed and the it's body meet the ground with a wet thud. Standing behind the creature was something. Another monster, no an angel. The "angel" stood in the light. It had wings were black and crimson, and it wielded a massive scythe. It looked at the corpse and than at the boy, it's eyes burning red.

"Death comes for all", it said before disappearing. When Rey finally exited the cave he found something waiting for him. At the mouth stood a jet-black raven, with the same burning eyes as the "angel". When he got closer the small bird dropped necklace. Emblazoned on it the mark of a raven. It was at this point Rey accepted his fate.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION & PERSONALITY

Spoiler:

Gran Rey stands 6'2" and weighs 206 pounds, with dark-brown eysyes. He has a well muscled frame. Depending on his mood, and how long he's been on the road, he has little or no hair. And tries for the latter as much as possible.

He is very humble person. Taking little or credit for things he's done. A daily ritual of his is to meditate one hour, every night at mid-night. He's very relaxed, even in the most stressful or life threating situations. This coming from his belief that "Death comes for everyone. You might as well take it all in while you can".

One of his favorite past times is playing cards. It's been documented though, but not seen, that Rey is not above cheating at games.

Alrighty, switched to the standard array(applied my +2 stat bonus to CHA).

I deducted -2 from all my melee attacks. I just assume I'm always power attacking.

And done. Used a 28 point buy for stats. If I need to change anything let me know.
