Ladies and Gentlemen, hobos and tramps

I come before you to stand behind you to tell you a story I know nothing about.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuut:
First, an announcement.
There is a ladies meeting on monday which is friday for men only.
Admission is free, pay at the door, pull up a chair and sit on the floor.
Now for our story.
One bright morning in the middle of the night,
two dead boys stood up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other,
drew their swords and shot each other.
Two deaf policemen heard this noise
and came and shot those two dead boys.
If you do not believe this lie is true?
Ask the blind man, he saw it too.

Indeed. It was quite a shocking spectacle.

After a short while Szaranoth gets impatient. "Grael? Targ? Follow me. This woman has obviously lost her voice." Szaranoth enters the building. Inside of the building, Szaranoth stops and waits for the others to arrive. "Grael, what did your vision show you? Shall we go up to the roof, down into the cellar or try to find them here on the ground floor?"

I've been waiting for more than a week for a response now...

Grael hesitantly follows. "I saw...a man and a child, probably his son. It was...I believe it was a goblin that killed them. The man's hand was...inside a hole...that's all I saw."

Grael looks rather unnerved by the whole thing, and stays behind the others.

Szaranoth stops as Grael's heavy breathing and ominous words reach his ear. "You mean, this crowd is worthy to investigate? Do have any notion about what happened, Grael?"

"It's...just a guess. I just saw a man a a child lying dead. Murdered. This may be linked to that, or it may not. My visions are not always true." Grael says, shuddering.

Grael stops dead. He looks like he's gonna be sick. "I think I may know what it is."

Grael follows, although he looks a bit uncertain.

"Someone following us?", asks Grael, catching up with them, panting. "Don't move so fast next time."
Grael is medium build and pale skinned. He wears a hood over his face, but anyone can see he is blind.

Sorry about that. I'd like to speed up this game and the other game but RL seems to get in the way.

DM Stand-In for Szaranoth

"Perhaps, there is a scholar in town who can help us find out more about this 'Runelord'?"

"We'll do that later though as we still have this killer on the loose. You did say that the killer was a goblin, right?"

"Of course I did!", Grael snaps. "How could I forget what they looked like, after what happened at the festival?"

Dm Stand-In for Szaranoth

"Runelord? Why does that title make my hair stand on end?"

I don't know, I've never heard of it before."

Thanks, Radavel, just when I was starting to feel left out in this game, you gave me a vision.

Grael, with difficulty, keeps his breakfast down.
"I saw...a goblin...he was sawing a man's...head off...and he looked up...and said...'Praise to the...Runelord!'" He vomits again. "It was...awful."

Grael cries out and collapses.
"Praise...to...Runelord....no...goblin...augh....
He vomits.

Bump. Anyone?

Whoops, sorry been busy.

"Goblin footprints? Where? Do you think they're nearby?"
Grael sighs. His blindness is rather limiting.

Grael looks completely shocked. "Is his head...is it off?"

"Alright, I'm bored here."

Grael looks almost smug--he alone drank nothing.
It's true! Look back in the thread! Honest! :) And yes, I know I get no extra xp for this. Grael doesn't drink, and really shouldn't.

Szaranoth enters the Rusty Dragon as Ingovil is dancing with Aldern Foxglove. His face clouds over for the smallest of moments, then he rejoins the others. "Targ, Etellio, Grael. There you are. What's this party all about?"

"Who knows? People can be strange when it comes to enjoying themselves."

Grael wrote:

Etellio, trying to again remain inconspicuous to their new observers, goes as if to get Grael another drink. He whispers. "My apologies, Grael...I was trying to make my talk seems natural. I had forgotten how sharp your ears are. In this crowd noise and bustle, they aren't easy to spot, and I merely wanted them to see them in case we are attacked."

"Perhaps your other senses can note something we can't, they are 30 degrees to your right." (making something up here to describe their location- hope that's OK)

Grael hisses, "I'm not a divining rod!"

I'm back! California was good, but the drive was too long... *Snores*
Grael politely accepts a glass of brandy, but doesn't drink it. "I really can't hold my brandy." He explains in a whisper. "What was that, Etellio? They had friends? I'm so glad that you took the time to point them out to the others and ignore me." He sarcastically comments, in a foul mood for some reason.

Grael looks grave. "And there is no idea who this leader is?"

"Grael, Ingowil, are ye coming with us?"

"Of course. But I wonder who the traitor is..."

"It was definitely gobbos, five of them, if I'm reading the tracks right. But they had help, maybe a human or elf. But I can't think of any reason why they'd dig up a grave. They'll eat almost anything, but there were plenty of fresh bodies in the town after the raid. There's no reason they'd dig up an old one."

Targ kneels down on the ground, digging his hands into the earth. His lips move in soft whispers.

Spellcraft 1d20+6=16

Grael looks confused. "Targ? How did you do that?"

"Back to the cathedral then. Looks like the ale will have to wait."

Targ comes up to Grael. "Grael, is there any chance you have any healing magic left? I was wounded in the fight, and I think Father Zantus has his hands full of wounded townsfolk already."

"No...I'm sorry. Nature has only given me so much power today. This is the most I can do." He raises his hand over Targ's wound, and mutters a quick prayer. Cure Minor Wounds. Targ is healed 1 point.

As he leaves the office, Grael says to the others quietly, "Someone dug up a grave? Why would they do that? Why go through all that trouble, and just dig up one grave?"[url= ][/url]

Grael tilts his head. "What do you suppose that is about?"

Etellio wonders what their next step should be, when he hears Grael's comment.
"What do you mean, Grael? I don't think we've done a very good job of protecting anyone. We should have kept this mess from spreading so far; it looks like a lot of folks have been hurt."

"There was that man...Foxglove...and we still live, which surprises me, especially because...ah...never mind.

Grael looks uncomfortable. "You hear that? Those folk seem quite happy with our efforts. Apparently, we saved the town. Could have fooled me, I thought we just slaughtered a few goblins."

"Then we go back to the church?"

If all seems quiet, Etellio will lightly suggest, "I didn't know your friend very well, but if the immediate danger has passed, what say we retrieve his body and head for the cathedral?"

"They may have need of further assistance there, and we can backtrack to see if there are any goblin stragglers still wandering about."

"Yes. Targ, Szaronoth, I am sorry about your friend but we should go get his body before...the goblins do. I've heard they can be terrible cannibals..." Grael realizes that this is not very good comfort for his allies, and falls silent.

"Goblin dogs are almost as bad as goblins themselves," Targ growls as he swings at the fleeing mount.

Grael looks shocked at the butchery and turns to Cindertwig, then points to the lead goblin.
"Get them."

Grael yells to it, "Get it!"

As Szaranoth turns to Grael in the crowd to see how his compatriot is faring, he brakes on his heels and runs back to the blind man. "Grael, be careful. You're in danger. Ingowil, cover him."

Charge the goblin in hiding.

"Of course I'm in danger! More than you know!" Grael snarls. He seems frightened, but rejects Etellio's hand. "Curse these visions! I'm not going to cower! I am a druid, aren't I?"

Szaranoth stands frozen before the bodies of the dead goblins, breathing hard through his nose. His armor and clothing are stained with brain matter of the slain goblin, some blooddrops have reached his face and body from the killings of the other two small creatures.

Grael pats Szaranoth on his shoulder. "Don't worry. The goblins...would have killed you had you not killed them."

Grael tries not to be sick. "I'm sorry, I'm still not used to all this." He says apologetically. "At least I didn't kill any of them", he whispers to himself.

Grael stumbles toward Targ. "No...not burning...not yet...still safe...Nature help me...Nature help us all...Anuokke Etinsyl Grulien Thrakkenne! Bind them!"
For Radavel:

"Goblins? No, it...can't be..."

Grael gasps. "No..."

Grael watches the exchange and waits to see the work of a true healer.

Grael wrote:

"Be at ease, Grael...I'm no priest, but I think this clergyman can reaffirm...Desna is a goddess of dreams and visions...I think she'd welcome prayers from one such as you."

I'm assuming that this is said before Grael starts praying.

Grael looks sorrowful. "She might, but...well, some have suggested that my gifts...don't come from the Light."

"I can do better than promise half. I am not poor. I inherited a sizable sum from my uncle. Grael gives the priests 36 gold pieces. "Perhaps an overly large sum, but I want my question answered."
Grael finds a place to pray, and murmurs something.
For DM:

"Yes, Sheriff Hemlock told me to ask for Father Zantus. We're deputies in the militia. And I believe most of us would like to make offerings of some sort."

"Not if I have no offering to give", hisses Grael. "Typical. The most important prayer I could ever make, and I have no offering. Is there anyplace where I could get something suitable? I'm afraid my knowledge of religion is sadly limited."

Grael starts rummaging through his pockets. "An offering...need an offering..."

"Coming, Grael? You can pray for my soul's forgiveness. To the temple then, and thence back to the inn for some ale and a rest."

Targ unloads his crossbow, slings it on his back, and heads in the direction he thinks the temple is in.

"I'll go to the temple, though I'm not a religious man. There's something I always wanted to know, and the temple may be the best place to do it."

"Grael, those things can and will happen, if you are doing guard duty. If have seen some bad things during my times, but luckily I have not been forced to kill someone myself. I am not looking forward to it, but I will do the best I can, when the time comes, and will worry about the consequences later. On the bright side... we are alive, and we know the missing culprit used magic shoes... perhaps we can still find him."

Level up done...

"Are...are you certain they w--were shoes? Could he not be a m-mage?" Grael still looks shaken. "I-I am sorry that I react this way, I've never...seen someone killed..."

Ingowil looks around at the scene. "Well, it looks like you three were busy while we were gone."

"So--so we were. I think the thief escaped. He climbed up the wall. Dead, dead, dead..." He seems to be in shock.
