Amazon is notoriously problematic when it comes to less-than-mainstream books, such as RPGs.
Also, since Amazon doesn't deal directly with Paizo (they take Paizo stuff from Diamond/Alliance), Paizo doesn't have much influence over how things turn up at Amazon.
The OGL is notoriously unclear on how it sits with computer games. What little explanation did WotC provide in OGL FAQ shows that it would be rather hard to use it for a videogame. And I do think that Paizo would prefer to keep themselves as far away as possible from even the most remote chance of a lawsuit. We're talking direct competitors here.
The yet-unannounced future planetary AP!
Also, Josh Frost isn't working at Paizo for quite a long time...

Meh.
Prediction: James and co. come up with 30 flavourful, fun but not overwhelming mechanically PrCs that serve more as enrichment of the world and less as vehicle for powergaming.
The community goes into blaaargh 1-star review outrage at PrCs not being a bunch of Ur-priests, Planar Shepherds and Abjurant Cheesecakes.
I really hope I'm wrong on *both* counts.
Aaah, missed the "critical" part. In that case, it's x9 I believe, sorry for the confusion.
Play a Chaotic Good Orc Paladin of Asmodeus...
Nope, you deal triple damage instead of double damage.
Fighters are fine.
XP costs are great.
What next?
I have now a picture of a Gargantuan golem wrapping soft, tender handwraps around his car-sized fists.
IIRC James or Erik said that "Evil AP" is not on the cards - such product is just waaay to risky for them for many reasons.
They did also say it's a perfect territory for 3PPs, and Fire Mountain Games seem to have picked up that ball and are rolling it along very nicely.

A Bard is performing "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and using audible ( singing ) OR playing air guitar or a lute ( visual ) to inspire courage.
He then wants to cast CLW which requires Verbal AND Somatic. It stands to reason that the song he is singing is dependent on his continuing to perform THAT song and continuing to use appropriate gestures and wailing, and the components of cure light wounds would require different moves and or gestures.
So...?
There's nothing in the rules that says V components interrupt bardic performance.
Aaand both CoS and DH are freekin' awsum!
"A bardic performance cannot be disrupted, but it ends immediately if the bard is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action to maintain it each round."
Does casting a spell prevent you from taking a free action? Nope!

Kits rock, I always forget to buy something important for my 1st levl chars and wind up the creek and without a sewing needle.
Well, Coeurl and Deep Crow (courtesy of Penny Arcade).
Expert, Adept, Aristocrat, Warrior.
Honorable mention: Commoner.

(Semi-automatic Pistol, Assault Rifle, Machine gun.) And even yes, futuristic firearms (Plasma Rifle, Railgun) for games of all tech-levels. While I'm not that keen on modern firearms, I would love just a page of support for science-fantasy gear that would work with Distant Worlds. Spark Longrifles, Plasma Crossbows and the all-important Laser Blaster!
We need more Kelsey here.
Phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.
GET YOUR ANTHROPOMORPHIC FURRY SEX FETISHES OUT OF MY oh wait.
I'm on a horse.

My stance on playing with 3d6 stats is...
...if I wanted to shove a stick up my anus, I'd do just that and not bother with the dice.
Why?
Because it's FABULOUS!
Wooo a Paladin code thread, that's something new!
instant enemy, problem solved.
Classic Monsters Revisited has a wonderful chapter on Gnolls.

I'm glad you did; in fact, I wouldn't mind if you had repeated most of the stuff (mundane and magical) from AA and APG as well. Sometimes it's a serious pain to equip mid/high level PCs and NPCs with three books open on the table... I totally appreciate the convenience factor of bringing together already-seen material from other Paizo products. But speaking as someone who already has all the other Paizo products I can't understate how much I hope that 'tons and tons of new items' translates into at least 25% of the book.
Core+APG magic items = 130 pages, so even with all the Golarion-sey items I think we're looking at least 200 pages of new content or so.
*yawn*
Karzoug was revealed in adventure 4 and that was just about the right time.
If there is a Paizo AP where the "too late reveal" problem appeared, it was CC (still, you knew all along it was Whispering Way, just not who exactly was calling the shots).
Call a Pole a drunkard and he'll hit you on the face.
Call a Pole a drunkard and he'll buy you a bottle and drink it with you.
They're not mutually exclusive, BTW.
Wait...you think that Scarwall is a poor part of CotCT, RotRL and AoW were the second-worst APs and that the second half of Second Darkness is OK?>
Well, you don't dispute the preferences, but...
+1 Alzrius. This is THE way to approach PrCs, instead of using them to fix dead levels and other design shortcomings of base classes.
Icyshadow wrote: xorial wrote: @James Jacobs: I agree that you guys really don't need to playtest your stuff anymore. I really don't think anybody here would suggest otherwise. It is we just LOVE getting those sneak peeks, and the feeling that we are part of the Paizo Design Team (in some small way). I disagree. Playtesting should always be made to check for the quality of the product. I don't want a scenario of pig in a poke (explained here) to occur when I buy something, hoping for prestige classes that are worth taking without being overpowered. Paizo and overpowered? Ha ha.
Also: this project is lead by Jason, if he can keep up the mojo he had with Paladin or APG classes, we can be safe about the power level here.
Oooh shiny.
It's all fine and well if this matches the player's expectations. Any time somebody wants to play a Fighter I tell them "Listen, you'll be good at one and only one thing, which is hitting things hard. Not much else, really. A small amount of skill points and that's about it."
If the player is happy, fine. If he/she isn't, we take a closer look at other martial classes.

Is Pett in the author lineup?
I'm asking 'cause...
YOU NEVER DO AN AP WITHOUT PETT AGAIN. OR THERE WILL BE DEAD SQUIRRELS IN SEATTLE.
Does that mean that the Companion line is doing away with the "faith, combat, magic, social" layout?
I'd love for that to happen, since I consider the current orgnization as somewhat restraining and awkward
Scott Betts wrote: shallowsoul wrote: Actually I would run a 3.5/Pathfinder combo because the system is not only great for combat but it's also great for non-combat situations. If your priority is game system support for deep, engaging, evocative social interaction, D&D is not the system for you, no matter the edition.
If you want a nice mix of combat facilitation, interaction facilitation, and exploration facilitation, then 4e works best, in my opinion. Pathfinder comes in a close second. I agree with almost everything Scott wrote, except for one small bit at which we both know where we stand on, so let's call it a day and go back to caster-martial disparity in Pathfinder, eh?
Guys, stop making me want to help out Scott, this is wrong! ;-)
My subs schedule looks much better now, shows April and May shipments. Thanks!
Both 3.5 and 4e are tactical wargame rules systems with some hat tipped off to mechanics that run off acting out your character.
3.5 tips that hat quite a bit more, and PF goes a little bit further with even more funky spells/feats/archetypes that work off circumstances that have to be roleplayed, but that's still just icing on the cake. The essential core of both systems are rules for killing things with stabs and castys.
Still borked, showing an uber-shipment in June and nothing else.
Omoxes are what are you looking for.
