While an excellent idea, that's essentially what skill points are/were. I'd say, for sake of simplicity, nay on this idea.

Although it'd be great as a houserule! :)

This is true, but a coup de grace is a full round action. This would be a standard.

No problem: just change the casting time so it isn't a standard action.

The only problem I see with this that, essentially, you're making an entirely new spell as opposed to a mirror revision of cure minor.

If we're going to get rid of cure minor wounds, we should also get rid of inflict minor wounds simply out of a sake... purity? Regardless, an undead cleric who gets away and has sufficient time can completely heal himself without touching any spells or rebuke attempts. My suggestion is this:

Quote:

Bleed

Necromancy
Level: Clr 0
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 Standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

When laying your hand upon a creature that is at or below 0 hit points and is stable, you immediately open it's wounds causing it to fall unconscious and begin dying.

Thoughts?

I haven't had a chance to run my playtest yet, but I was wondering about the same thing. I have no ideas yet, but I'll be watching this.

ELVEN BOW FOCUS

Elven archers with their keen senses are deadly accurate with their bows.
Prereq: Elf, Proficient with Bows
Benefit: Elves with this feat gain +1 to attack and +1 to damage when using any bow.

ELVEN BOW SPECIALIZATION
Elven elite archers are renowned and feared.
Prereq: Elf, Proficient with Bows, Elven Bow Focus
Benefit: Elves with this feat gain an additional +1 to attacks and +2 to damage when using any bow.

(Yes, these feats are better than their generic conterparts but they are supposed to represent that elves tend to be better at using bows than any other race.)

Would these stack with Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, and Point Blank Shot?
I was thinking that they would replace Focus and Specialization. I guess a note would have to be placed within the feats to say that very thing.

Now let's say my elven fighter takes Elven Bow Focus at first level and wants to take Weapon Specialization (Longbow) at fourth level. Would the EBF replace WF (Longbow) for the Specialization prereqs?

SWIFT OF FOOT

Your light weight and long strides gets you places faster.
Prereq: Elf
Benefit: +5ft to base movement if wearing light armor.

Change that to "[...] if wearing light or no armor." and you're golden.

How is this character doing so much damage? Are these standard flasks of Alchemists fire? If so, are you assuming sneak attack damage? Can one get sneak attack damage with a grenade-like weapon? Even if allowed by the rules as written ("RAW"), I'm not sure I would allow it. (I don't see how a thrown flask--which is intended to break--would allow the type of precision that sneak attack presupposes). How would the same Rogue fare with, say, a shortbow, or dual wielding shortswords?

Much in the same way that a Rogue 3/Wizard 1 does 1d3 + 2d6 cold damage with a ray of frost during a sneak attack, any extra damage derived from sneak attack is automatically considered the same type of damage as the initial attack. If you sneak attack with a greatsword, your extra damage is slashing damage. If you use an acid flask, it's acid damage.

Kelvar Silvermace wrote:
Because I've never seen a character designed around throwing flasks. And even if allowed by the RAW, it seems so unusual that I'm not sure it is the best design to test the rules. I think a character like this would break even a standard 3.5 game.

You've never seen the iconic "halfling hurler" build? Heck, pulling from the DMG's NPC table, a 1st level halfling fighter with the Weapon Focus (Sling) and Point Blank Shot feats has a +7 to hit using a sling (+2 Dex, +1 BAB, +1 size, +1 halfling thrown bonus, +1 WF (Sling), +1 PBS). It's not "game breaking", but it is an optimized build.

Kelvar Silvermace wrote:
Also, I assume he's carrying all of these flasks in the Heward's Handy Haversack, correct? And that is how he knows he's grabbing alchemists fire instead of, say, acid? But what about the fact that retrieving any specific item from a haversack is a move action? Doesn't this limit the number of flasks he can grab and throw in a round?

Quick Draw.

I agree. The "holy tank" syndrome has bothered me for a very long time.

Maybe a armor proficiency progression similar to the one applied to the War Mage (from Complete Arcane) could do the trick, getting medium armor and light shields from the start, then heavy shields, and finally heavy armor.
Clerics with the War domain should get the proficiency for free - keeping a more "crusader" feeling - but their domain power should be adjusted to balance it out.

Seconded. I think that this, coupled with the prayerbook idea, would do a some good to help curb the "C" in CoDzilla.

On the prayerbook. I don't think it should be exactly like a wizard's spellbook. Maybe give them twice as many spells as the wizards gets to start off or something similar. [/needs_more_coffee]

Fix for wishing for items: You may wish for any number of items that have a total market price of 2,000 gp x your relevant casting ability score (Charisma for sorcerers and Intelligence for wizards) or less.

Thoughts?

Agreed. I hope it's fixed, or at least discussed, in the next P20 pdf.

Ok, OK. I see what you're all saying, but would you all at least agree to ADDING picks to the list?
Add picks, add Light Pick Axes and Heavy Pick Axes. Pick Axe would be an exotic weapon with an axe-head and a pick head. So a slashing/piercing weapon. Use Hand Axe and light pick for the light, and Battle Axe/Heavy Pick for Heavy Pick Axe.

I made a similiar style weapon for 3.5 called a hammer-axe. Think bludgeoning or slashing (free action to switch between attacks) bastard sword (complete with the one-handed EWP) that looks like the Ultimate Thor's Mjolnir.

Everyone rocks! I have a one-shot playtest coming up soon and these will make my job sooo much easier! Thanks everyone!

Sorry WotC, I'm taking my non-delve format rolling d20 and playing elsewhere. Great job everyone. Very nicely done. I'm anxious to see what you did with the sorcerer and the bloodlines and how they compare to my sorc rewrite. I can't wait to run this now! You guys have offically re-invigorated my love for the game.

*Drops clunky armor plating* Ah... Much better. I've said it before and I'll say it again:
