I have a lot of avatars .....

This thread is much to silly. Farewell

Stratos Kopteros wrote:
The wizards disembodied voice trails away.Dont get your hopes up.

Paper shouts into the nothingness

"Be of good heart wizard! You can do it!"

Isat Vastra wrote:

Before leaving.

"Imperator. Stratos can turn invisible. If he's willing, send him to the gate to change the weather. Crassus's plan sounds good to me. It may buy us time."

Paper nods

"That is a wise course. Stratos! Make it so. Come, we must see what can be done.."

Paper ponders as they walk to their first encounter. He finally speaks:

"I will declare that until such time as the interlopers are vanquished, spilling of blood in fair combat and lighting fires will be allowed. If there are negative effects of this, let them fall upon my shoulders alone."

Paper frowns

"I would prefer that blood wasn't spilled, especially if the folk we fight could be our allies. However, blood will be spilled ere we finish cleansing the realm."

Would there be any adverse effects to spilling blood or would it just be my decree?

Taliesin Hoyle wrote:

The caryatid placed the body on the floating bier

"I cannot leave the tower."

Paper nods to the statue

"Then we shall see him interred by his tree. Gentlefolk, if you will assist?"

Paper helps bring the aged wizard to his final resting place. Once he has been interred, he looks again at Crassus.

"Shall we?"

Isat Vastra wrote:

"Plans?"

Isat raises a quizzical eyebrow.

Paper resheathes his gladius

"Well, we need to assemble whatever forces will swear fealty to me, and the realm. Crassus' folk would be a good place to start. Crassus? Can you bring us to your people?"

Paper smiles thinly

"Noble one, we will find the time to honor you as you should be when we have cleansed your realm of foulness. For now ..

WE FIGHT! AVE NIKE! "

Paper unsheathes his gladius and waves it in the air

Isat Vastra wrote:

"Lysoskevevos, the mother surely holds you. Your last work is complete and by it, Hrothgar will surely help maintain your kingdom."

Paper reaches into his pocket and removes two silver coins and places them on Lysoskevevos' eyes

"Rest well, noble wizard, your long watch is over. May Charon ferry you to Elysium, where you can sport with the heroes of the ancient days."

He looks to Crassus

"My first order as Imperator is to fashion a fitting tomb for Lysoskevevos' body. Then we shall deal with these scum from Constantinople."

Hrothgar the Red wrote:
"Paper is a king? What is the world coming to?"

Paper grins back at his old friend

"It is good to see you pried from Cerberus' jaws friend Hrothgar. Or were you in the clutches of one of those yodeling fat women on winged horses you Germans are so fond of?"

He smiles even wider at Hrothgar

"And I am not a king. We Romans dislike the office, we tend to kill them. I am rather Imperator, in its ancient formal sense, not the modern-day Eastern potentate Emperor like we have in Constantinople . I am Leader of the Realm. But I will need a strong arm like yours at my side old friend."

Paper keeps watch over Lysoskevevos

Paper reflects on what the aged sorceror has told him about his stewardship. He decides to keep it to himself for the moment.

I could have sworn I had posted a reply here earlier. Durn thread slaad..

Taliesin Hoyle wrote:
I will move the story forward tomorrow. First will be the raising of Hrothgar, then you can tell me your plans. It looks like you will be going to the fey for messengers, then to the giants, then to Thereus' band of centaurs.

That sounds like the thing to do ..

Taliesin Hoyle wrote:
Wow. another earthquake. I am shaking around like I am on board ship. Crack on the wall. Probably a five or six on Richter. A lot of tectonic instability here at the moment. Little quakes every couple of days. This was a big one.

O.o stay safe out there Tal ..

Paper readies to assist in taking the aged wizard out of his tower to perform the resurrection

Stratos Kopteros wrote:
We are a day and a half away from our foes. We need better intelligence. Perhaps I can go ahead, and see what I can find out. I can turn invisible a few times a day. If you give me leave, imperator.

Paper nods

"As you will, master Stratos. I hearby name you my Master of Intellegence."

I'm sorry I didn't see Stratoss asking for permission ...mea culpa

Lysoskevevos wrote:
Age makes way for youth. It is wise that the gods made us so. You must make your own way. It is not my realm now, it is Imperator Gnaeus Cornelius Papyrus realm. Were I not to pass, I would choose exile. Do not make it seem like there is choice. I will go upstairs to my chambers now. It has been an honour to meet you all. I am sure my own small tales will be mere footnotes to the fate you carve for yourselves. The caryatids will attend to your needs. I will see you in eight turns of the dial.

Gnaeus nods reverently to the aged Lysoskevevos

"I hope that I can live up to your standards, noble Lysoskevevos. Crassus, once Hrothgar returns to us and we can see to the invaders, who may I call to our banners?"

Rufinus Galsius. wrote:

Imperator, I will not be a part to slaving. I hope that you do not intend to sell captives. Ransom is better. It is an ill thing to bond another against his will.

What will you have us do?

Paper grimaces

"I would have them all banished rather than slave. I wish to impress upon them that this realm is not theirs to do with as they will.

Paper touches the horn at his side.

"Hmm. Perhaps I can call on some to assit us..."

Tal, could you remind me of all the powers the horn has? Could I call a force to fight the interlopers?

Paper nods

"You are as valuable as a squad of archers Isat. We will need your skills ere the day is done."

Paper scowls as he recounts what he sees to the others

"It seems Rafi and some pestilenial Kristos worshippers are rampaging among the centaurs. I believe it is time to earn my title as Imperator."

Those that know Paper recognize the fire kindling in his eyes. The last time it showed was when the gladiator wore his father's cloak.

"Noble Lysoskevevos, what weapons can we bring to bear against this foe?"

WIS DC 12: 1d20-1=18

Wow, I guess leadership is working on Paper!

Paper stares into the scrying pool.

"Show me the battle between Crassus' folk and the invaders," He whispers to it

Crassus wrote:
You saw the fires. My people are dying defending this realm.

Paper bows to Crassus

"They are a brave people, noble Crassus. All they need now is a little organization and some tips on coordinated assault and we can forge them into a true blade of war that will smite the invaders back to their holes."

Paper nods

Aye. The only way to use yon horror would be to point it at the invaders and let it go. "

Paper thinks some more

"What we have to do is use the innate strangeness of this realm as a weapon as well. We have to remember that if we are being invaded then the invaders have never seen many of the things from this realm. We need to culture an atmosphere of anxiety and fear, like the Germans used to do to our legions in the deep woods. If we can scare them, they will be less likely to be willing to penetrate the realm deeply."

Paper thinks giddily. He is unused to this, and now he is Imperator of a realm he has just barely gotten to know

"What allies do we have in the fight against these intruders? Does this realm have passive defenses? "

Lysoskevevos wrote:
This is an empire.

Paper smiles and bows again

"If it is an Empire noble Lysoskevevos , then I will take the name Imperator as my rank rather than Caesar, which has always been strange to my Roman ears, since it means 'bushy hair' in our Latin tongue and is but Divis Julius' family name. "

Paper raises his sword high

"I Gnaeus Cornelius Papyrus, scion of the Cornelii gens, do swear my fealty to the land of the marble tower. As Imperator of this land I swear to listen to my wise friends' counsel and do my best to protect both them and the beings that dwell here. I swear this by Jupiter Optimus Maximus, the patron god of my ancestors since the days of Romulus and Remus and also by Mars, my personal patron. I accept the fealty of my friends and pledge my support in turn."

Paper touches all who swear to him with the tip of his gladius.

Paper is stunned by this offer

"Noble Lysoskevevos, truly that is a magnificent offer you make us. While we did not seek it, if the three Fates have conspired to bring us to your side there must be a purpose. Since coming here I have grown to admire this land, and its ties to the elder days, something the outer world has begun to forget. Even our gods are under seige as the Emperor himself has repudiated Jupiter Optimus Maximus and embraced Kristos."

Paper kneels and usheathes his gladius, placing it between his hands and raising it to Lysoskevevos

"If your realm needs a protector, I will pledge my sword to its aid."

Lysoskevevos wrote:
Then, Gnaeus Cornelius Papyrus, tell my why you have come here.

"We have come here following a Hebrew sorcerer named Levi Bram. He had led us to your world searching for a Lillim that had stolen the fabled book, The Gates of Sephiroth. The miserable Galilean goatfncker abandoned us and disappeared. Our companion Hrothgar fell here. We have come forward, seeking answers and Levi."

Paper bows slightly again at the aged Lysoskevevos

Paper bows to the magi formally

"I am Gnaeus Cornelius Papyrus, a son of the Roman Empire. My family has been a branch of the Cornelian gens since the days of the Republic."

I think we are missing Rad and K

Isat Vastra wrote:

"The two often go together. You know that in our world there is no place for your kind, but the restriction of this safe haven must still chafe you."

Isat gathers himself together and bows again to the caryatid.

"We've journeyed through life and death to see your master. I think it's time we met."

Paper nods

"Aye Isat, I think it is time we saw who pulls the strings on this journey."

Paper gives the caryatid a stiff Roman bow.

"Thank you for your information."

What a collection of stange fellows!

Tal:

Spoiler:
RL is messing with me as well. Take your time

Stratos Kopteros wrote:
Trembling slightly, and staring hungrily at the profusion of documents and tomes."We are the most fortunate of men to be here."

Paper looks about

"We shall soon see just how fortunate we turn out to be scholar."

Yes welcome back!

Paper squares his shoulders

"Aye. It is time we found our answers."

Walks with Isat

Taliesin Hoyle wrote:
Kruelaid has not posted in a few days. I think this is a good place to pause. Feel free to have a few more snips of dialogue, but try not to get too far ahead of him. I need to go to Hong Kong for a few days. I will be back on Monday. Let's pick up there.

Sounds good

Paper shakes his head

"What by the flaming brass balls of Hades is going on?"

Initiative: 1d20+3=4, Will save (with +3) 1d20+3=22

Paper stumbles as the horseshoe burns his hand. He moves like someone who has drank to much Chian wine

Will:1d20=8

Paper stands up suddenly, a look of longing in his eyes. He begins to head to the deeper forest.

"Persian. Listen to me. We have been beset by illusions since we first enterest this realm. Fight it. It can do us no good to stare at tiny glammers while our quest remains undone."

Paper looks down again

"I see naught but a few poison toadstools and a hedgehog's skull. I say again, ware the glammers of this place.."

Paper grips Isat on the shoulder

"You are misled healer. And beware using names, even nicknames in this place. Look again, you are being fascinated by some glammer."

Paper looks at his comrade

"Healer! What fascinates you so?"

Perception: 1d20-1=8, 1d12=11

Sorry I have been quiet. Been battling a horrible gut bug

Paper struggles under Modius

"Let me free Iberian!"

Oops ..didn't see that roll ..Mea Culpa

1d10=1

Speaking of not good ...

Will Save: 1d20=1, Perception: 1d20-1=9

Initiative; 1d20+3=15

There we go ..

Will: 1d20=12

Paper struggles and blurts out

"I am of the Cornelius Papyrii gens witch! You use sorcery to force me to break my pledge, which means you have no hold over me!"

Heh. He hopes ..

Fine with me. See you in a week! :)

1d20-1=3

Startled from his reverie Paper whirls and lays a hand reflexively on his gladius. remembering the rules he withdraws his hand fom its pommel.

"Old mother, you startled me."

Paper's eyes narrow as he tries to get the measure of this new surprise
