Meanwhile the black pillar begins to pulse, almost like a heartbeat.
"By the Titans, what is going on", Gin looks on as the pillar begins to beat.
Perception to see if I can tell what, if anything, is causing it to beat 1d20+7=24. History to see if anything like this has appeared in Mithril before 1d20+7=18
"Maybe we should try to take this fight away from the pillar" Gin shouts to the others.
"Branomonrik, do you have any clue what that pillar is?"
Watching as the others run headlong into battle with the small reptilians, Gin surveys the area; Fully confident in the others ability to protect themselves. Knowing that while his primary goal is the protection of these adventurers, his secondary was to observe what was really behind the murders.
"They'll be fine. Their foes don't look to imposing," as the words fill his head, Gin remember the necromancer and moves to his side for his protection.
Gins not entering combat unless the other appear to need it. Until then he'll stay beside Branomonrik soaking up information about their surroundings and guarding him of course. Perception 1d20+7=19
Gin's muscles tense at the sight of the half-orc. "By the gods, what is a half-bred monster like that doing here" Gin thinks to himself. He tries to relax his body, and focus on the threat at hand.
Should this monster be provoked to violence this alley would be the last place anyone would want to be.

Spoiler:
Due to Gins distrust/dislike of orcs He'll be looking for the quickest escape routes for him and the group should this turn ugly.
"Yes Sir", Gin bows again and excuses himself from the office. Making his way quickly to his room he gathers his belongings, and then to meet the adventures.
"Thank you, Commander." Gin bows slightly, "I promise to look after them, and that as little harm as possible happens."
"Commander is my assignment only to watch after these people, or to investigate the murders as well? I thought we were trying to keep our presense in Harbor City to a minimum?"
Sitting on a hill and looking towards the awe inspiring golem, Gin relaxeds. The day, though short, has been long and stressful. Gin spent the early part of the morning and afternoon filling out requsitions and other documents for his squad. The commander didn't feel like bothering with it, and passed the task to Gin.
"...Not that I had a problem doing the paperwork. I just wish I hadn't missed morning exercises", Gin thinks to himself. He watches as few clouds pass overhead.
"What a beautiful d...",
"GIN, hey Gin!" a voice calls out at the bottom of the hill. Sitting up Gin sees his friend Kal, a soldier like himself. "What is it, Kal?"
"The c...commander asked me...to come find you", he says panting. "Did he say why", Gin looks at his friend.
"No only that it is important." he says, still trying to catch his breath.
As Gin stands and begins to make his way back, Kal lays down on the grass staring up. "You have to be the most out shape soldier in the history of Mithril," Gin says jokingly.
"Probably", Kal remarks still staring up at the clouds.
I'd like to make a request. I've alwys wanted to play an unarmored fighter. Would it be possible to use the defence bonus from Unearthed Arcana? If not, could I use the fighter's armor bonus without armor?
I wonder what happened with Cry, probably real-life. Well this is too bad. I was really looking forward to this adventure. I'd like to keep it alive, but without the DM that seems kinda difficult.
"Acero", the half-orc days in a dulled roar. He grabs a piece of bread and takes bite. "So how did you find us? And what do know about us and Lamm", Acero asks.
Andrea smiles at Chavali, she remembers the girl now..her dancing is spectacular. Feeling more at ease with another performer in the room she glances towards the massive half orc with an expectant look
"So what is your business with our mutual ...problem"
"He took something...important from me", says the hulking half-orc. He swirls a chair around and takes a seat.
"The only reason I'm here is because the person who wrote this note said they knew where Lamm was", a dark grin crosses Acero's face. At the same time his eyes sweep the room. Like a wolf scoping out his prey.
"Fate. Justice. None of those words mean a thing to me. Vengence though, that means everything", The half-orc thinks to himself. He slowly stands, slinging his sword across his back.
As he makes his way out he tosses the serving girl a gold, "For you and the drink." With that he exits making his way down the slums onto the destination on the card.

BACKGROUND
Spoiler:
If he had a name or a family, he'd forgotten it. He picked up swordsmanship at an early age, and since then has been on a mission to become the strongest person in town. One day he wishes to leaves Korvosa and travel the world defeating the strongest foes he can find.
One day though while traveling in Merciless Way that changed
He found a young girl being harrassed by a group of thugs. He stepped in, not just because the girl was helpless but because he could use the entertainment. After a brawl that left two of them dead and the rest fleeing, he sat on an old barrel and began cleaning his old, dull blade.
"You should go home" he glanced at the girl. She just stood looking at him. "Aren't you afraid", he asked solemnly. "You may wind up like your friends"
"No. You're not a bad man like them" she replied. "If you were I wouldn't be standing here" she smiled at him, dark brown eyes gazing through her wild hair.
"What's your name", she asked. "I don't have one", he looked up from cleaning his blade. "Silly everyone has a name. My names Sara", She replied. "Like I said I don't have one", I don't see the need.
"Well make one up. I can't thank you if you don't have a name." A smile bigger than the first on her face. "Hmm, fine than", the man said with a slight sigh. He reached down for a stick and began writing in the mud.
"There" he laid the stick down. "A..cero? That's wierd.", she looked puzzeled at the ground. "Well thank you. If you come back tomorrow I'll have something for you", with that she left.
From that day on they meet every afternoon in the same place. They didn't talk much. The just sat back and watched as ships and people went by. Sara always brought sandwiches for them both. After a few months though she stopped coming.
Acero just thought the girl was tired of coming. Why would anyone want to be around someone like him. It was later that he found that she killed. After "asking" around though one name kept coming up...Gaedren Lamm. For one reason or another this man killed his friend and he was going to find out why.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION & PERSONALITY
Spoiler:
Acero stands 6'7" and weighs 250 pounds. He has a very muscular physique. He has shoulder length black hair, and olive skin. Other than his olive skin and being the size of a "mountain". His only other orcish qualites are his yellow and red speckled eyes.
He literally lives for battle, and tries to get as much enjoyment from it as possible. Even to the point of weaking himself to make it last longer. He's admited to several people that he has no sanity or common sense, but is actually very perceptive and notices traits in people that others wouldn't. He also strongly believes that fun comes before working
Though he loves to fight, Acero isn't the type of person to slay a downed foe. If someone manages to live after the encounter(0 to -9), he wont' take the oppurtunity to finish it. To him these people are already defeated. They should be happy they were lucky enough to live. There are two main reasons he does this though. One, he's already beaten them and to continue on would be boring. And two, because maybe they'll return one day. Stronger and hoping to face him again.
Acero doesn't care for who rely on magic or other methods to win a fight. They're cowards who hide behind words and books. A real warrior uses his hands or his blade.
*You would think, this being my fourth or fifth pbp character, writing backgrounds would be getting easy. But it's not. I hope this okay.
