Honestly i'm really excited about this. Kinda crazy a little while ago
I though it would be a smart move to re-release kingmaker for 2E.

Man It looks like I was tapping into some sort of paizo wavelength
Anyway it looks really great, plus its a fantastic slow burn to embrace
The new 2E rules. That beta felt real productive and im looking forward
To the finished product. Anyway hope your taking that time off, cheers

Im so excited about this new set and the upcoming guild adventures. Honestly anything involving Linda Zayas-Palmer is guaranteed to be amazing.
Also I'm not biased at all, not saying that for any reason.

Liberty's Edge

Doi, how did I miss this. I have collected every pathfinder die so far. A real bummer. The red looks nice, actually the red and green together would be a nice contrast for multiple attacks.

Just about to finish Hell's Rebels (Great AP). Iv'e been playing my medium the whole way through.

My thoughts on versatility (Which I 100% agree with in theory)

I wish I played her more versatile, but I found the champion to just be so darn strong. Now we had a healer, rogue and wizard, so niche wise Champion, Guardian or even Marshal could be good daily picks.

And occasional I dabbled in The Worlds Greatest Detective or Tuxedo Mask. But mostly I found my way back to champion every time. The bonus to hit and damage is just to good to pass up (pounce, extra attack etc, etc). If your filling that martial/combat role for the party its hard to justify picking something else.

Martial can make certain roleplaying encounters (the rolling aspect anyway) ridiculous. They swing rolls hard in general So if your not the only front liner its not a bad choice.

I just wish the guardian had a bit better of a showing. I really wanted to focus on that spirit (Solid choice for trance of the 3 though), but we run a tough campaign and you are a tornado or horror and death as a champion.

Love the class over all, personally, but if I were to give vague general analysis... I would nerf (change) the champion a teeny bit, buff Guardian a lot, too much to say on what I would do with heirophent and archmage. Martial's fine and trickster needs a little work, but is close to being really solid.

btw I wish I had your guide when we started the AP. I was annoyed that every bit of writing on the class was PLAY CHAMPIO11!!!1!!. There's some truth to it, but its such a cool class and the other spirits are really worth trying.

Liberty's Edge

I kind of want this by tomorrow. Anyway you can send it back in time a couple weeks from now to (July 9th).
Kthx.

I think mostly shes being tortured for information, because of what she knows... I guess. It is a little strange.

I could see her having a crap afterlife beacuse Evil deities are fickle and could just say "whatever you get tortured".
Why she wouldn't just tell them what they wanted to know in the first place to where torture is required is weird.

Maybe the torture helps get memories that were lost after death, back? Since you usually forget everything when you are "reborn". Kind of like extracting the data from her soul because the person can't remember it.

Also maybe she takes the blame for not stopping the events of War for the Crown 2, 3 ,4, etc by not just killing Martella. It's true she could not have known the grand scheme of everything, but bad guys like to take it out on somebody when plans start to fall apart.

Liberty's Edge

I was just reading your intro for book 5 War for the Crown and thinking how lucky Paizo was to have you (and also that you must be a super cool person).
Your work constantly exceeds any and all expectations. I'm super excited to see what you might work on next. You can most certainly count on my support XD
Crystal your amazing.

Liberty's Edge

Here's a dumb question that I'm obviously over looking.
Increasing your towns attitude. I see one static point it increases (10000) how else do you increase the attitude. Is there a chart somewhere for x amount of loyalty increases attitude?
I tried searching the pdf for "one step" but no luck.

Liberty's Edge

So I'm about to kick of this AP two weeks from now. As the character builds come in, I'm starting to get worried about the challenge.

As I understand adding another 2 CR to the encounter is technically what I'm supposed to do, but I just don't know if that's going to cut it. Currently the players classes are
-Bard dawnflower dervish
-investigator mastermind
-kineticist blood
-Alchemist Tinker
-Rogue deadly courtesan
-????

If anyone has run the first book are they just going to run rough shot over it?

I didn't want to, but I could start redesigning a lot of the encounters, add 2 cr or 3 cr creatures. Advance a couple of npcs.

Any advice or tips on adding a bit of difficulty to this ap I'm not to concerned about running a difficult campaign. I just don't want them to walk through everything.

Liberty's Edge

I'm a little worried. I just started the adventure path subscription myself. However it says my first pdf/book will be in october. Am I too late with my subscription to get the first book? Or am I in the same boat as the previous posters?

thank you for your time

Liberty's Edge

I have an idea to make a black canary, but I think it could be better. I want to go the sonic motif splashed with the martial artist.
Here's what I currently have up to lvl 8

Quote from AP#76
"A small number of heretics venerate her as well, not as a demigoddess of murder and lust but as one of outcasts, artists, and the glories of midnight. The fact that such heretical clerics are granted spells as surely as the rest of her worshipers has caused not a small amount of discontent among her faithful, which Nocticula seems to enjoy."

Now I'm not going to assume any of this would work in PFS, but do you think a cleric of Nocticula in said mentioned heretical cult could be CG?
All though nothing is too clear it seems to imply she may not be considered a CE creature by those worshipers but a CN one.

In a home game would it be possible and not too lore breaking for me to play a CG cleric (or Warpriest) of Nocticula.

Maybe if the illusions changed every time your group leaves the room. So you never really know what kind of traps could show up.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

Just played this one, was really easy. A bit of a disappointment really.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

I'll admit i'm complaining more than anything, but I have a big problem with the Andoran mission.

Spoiler:

Now burning undead is fairly easy, but the first paragraph was extremely vague. This isn't all that uncommon in season 2, but near the end when my Andoran character recommended we release the Sphinx, almost everyone in the party immediately jumped on my argument saying it is not (including the 2 silver crusade). They claimed it is a contract therefore her servitude is not slavery (honestly that's one of the most stupid things i heard all day, when I really thought about it*)

Now after the adventure I found out that we were indeed supposed to free the sphinx. I guess my point is the scenario makes it very difficult for the party to even consider her a slave, never mind understanding the extremely vague wording of the original mission. Again this is mostly me complaining, but I need to say something, its been bothering me all night.

*If I have a man sign a contract saying he will do whatever I say without question or choice is that not a slave? Taking away ones free will is the largest factor of slavery. Whether its consensual or not, it's still slavery.

It bothers me more when I think if she was still in servitude of the lich?(never really got what he was just force bombed him to oblivion), my team in it's entirety would try and free her, yet when they stand to benefit suddenly its most certainly not slavery. I'm not saying they can't be pro-slavery in pathfinder, but I mean call it what it is.

=/ yup whining like a 5 year old, but it removes the stress.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah I gmed at ogc nashua. I think I might run a dwarf druid for now. I may want to give this character or potentially the two other races some thought.

Thanks for all the fantastic advice.

Liberty's Edge

I have no idea how to build him.
The nagaji base strength encourages me to go high strength, as also the later lvls encourage a bit of charisma. I also need some dex so i can hit with all my new fancy ranged touch spells. Con is always important. This is what I have right now

str 14
dex 14
con 12
int 08
wis 15
cha 14

This is the only way to dip into everything you can do, but as you might notice nothings all that great
When you get naga form that strength assuming a belt can be 20 with a bite at 1 1/2 strength. Obviously at around 4 that wisdom will hit 18 with a headband.

So do you guys and gals think this could work or am I way to spread thin?

or should i just stick with my Dwarvin druid right now and Make my nagaji a rage prophet, which honestly fits there stats too well.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

I'm thinking of getting 5 scenarios, but I'm new to pathfinder gm'ing. Actually I'm new in general. I don't intend to read them yet, but I was hoping to grab a couple because of the sale.

Any advice for the best scenarios in seasons 0-1-2

Liberty's Edge

its his first b day, i cant miss it, alas other than science fiction I am obligated to show up.
How is The Ghenett Manor Gauntlet. I may want to run it if I can't play it. I hear there's 2 ways to go about playing threw it.

Liberty's Edge

So I'm supposed to head to a game this weekend, but my nephew is having a birthday party.
Does anyone know how to clone themselves. I wouldn't mind if it splits the alignment.
Maybe I could cut myself in half. If I wore a cloak no one would notice.

Anyone have any advice for being in 2 places at once?

Liberty's Edge

Cheapy wrote:

How does your character fight?

Other than dirty trick, I guess.

cast control spells to start par for a bard.

then close range touch spells and maybe mellee with fineness. I forgot to mention geting butterfly sting with lore wardens combat expertise. This would allow me to get keen weapon and give some of my harder hitters free crits.

Liberty's Edge

Ok so I'm building a sandman bard for PFS. I'm going to give him eldritch heritage fey for funzies. However I was thinking about going two levels in lore warden, for a free feet and combat expertise. Why combat expertise? Improved Dirty Trick, you know for funzies.

I'm not sure if the two lvl dip is worth it, sandman really needs his spell progression. Do you guys think the shenanigan is worth it?

Liberty's Edge

So I want to make a sandman bard, it seems like fun, while allowing some creative moments.

str 10
dex 14
con 14
wis 10
int 10
cha 18

weapon finesse
tougness?

I was considering going fey eldritch heritage. I would just walk around the battlefield poking people I don't like and making them lose there turns. It's a deep feat investment but it could be fun.

What direction would you guys go if you were going to make a sandman bard. Mostly I'm just wondering other than spells how else can i contribute in combat situations? (not really wanting to go range)

Liberty's Edge

I'm going kind of a cavalier charger with a clockwork dragon mount. Can't really optimize this to well, because the -2 strength. I just wish i could fineness a lance then this build might actually be considered viableish.

Anyways I really just want ability score help, mostly because I'm not sure what do with charisma. I'm not to sure if 10 int will cut it, or should i knock charisma down for a higher int score. I was told I need an 11 int to read scrolls and if im rocking a medium armor early lvls casting could be problematic.
I'll show you her at lvl 2, i dip for my first lvl. I know ew, but it helps her mounting a lot.

Dragoon 1 Summoner 1 lvl 2
str 15
dex 14
con 14
int 10
wis 08
cha 14
feats - mounted combat, ride (focus), (either power attack or ride by)
summon evolution- mount, reach(bite 2 times)(or nat armor)
My 2 magic items i'm geting are str belt and cha headband

I'm also not really sure what the magical knack trait does. There's not a chance it would give me more evolution points when I get to 2 is it?
thanks for any help.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks for the advice I'm really looking forward to piece this character together.

All though I have one question, why would int be at 1. Wouldn't I want it at least 12 for the bonus spell?

Liberty's Edge

Mathwei ap Niall wrote:

No your CMB is based on JUST your BaB + Str Bonus (unless you take the agile maneuvers feat in which case it's Bab + Dex instead).
your CMD score is Bab +str bonus + Dex Bonus +10, which makes it really hard for a non full bab class to succeed on combat maneuvers.

Now with that said I'll give you some more advise, the WHW is a dip class for a full bab character (or monk with feral combat training) and you never go more than 2 levels into it, and even then ONLY if you intend to play a grappling natural weapon melee'er.
You give up WAY too much to go very far in the class and it is so poorly written if you don't build it exactly perfectly it blows up in your face.

Best build so far is Half-Orc WHW 2/Ranger (nat wep style) 2/Barbarian X.
This gives you a fist full of primary natural attacks that can all be used while your target is grappled and leaves your swift actions open for grapple/trip actions.
It comes together a bit slow (weakish until 4th but after that it's brutal) but is effective if you live that long.

Durp I used the wrong formula for CMB XS, but WHW still can replace there str for int when grappling while using there hair.

All though this ranger build interests me greatly.

I'm curious what ability score I would go
half-orc with bite, 2 lvls of nat weapon ranger
The I guess I would go 4 lvls of WHW to get reach, trip, constrict and honestly that's all the flavor I need.

Would this be a strength based build or would it still be dex/int with finesse? I was thinking of making a natural weapon ranger. Seems like a real interesting class to build.

Liberty's Edge

I'm aware of the one swift action problem.
also when I grapple with my hair, I exchange my str for int so its
int + dex + bab which should be reasonable.

I guess I'm wondering if there's any way to make this class at least workable.

Liberty's Edge

So I was looking at unarmed style for unarmed fighter, do I get to choose style feats with any fighter bonus feats or is it only the first one.
I would really want to get Kiran Strike at lvl 2.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry I had to run off for a sec.
I guess the idea is to hit with weapon finnese. So thats with my dex modifier.
As for dmg, Kirin strike allows me to hit with my hair for 1D6 + 10. If i wanted to grapple I would just do 1D4 + 5 and then grapple with a decent cmb.

Ac is handled with mage armor
so
+3 dex
+4 mage armor
+1 If i get 12 wis

At lvl 4-5ish I should get a dex belt- so thats 19 ac
So my ac wont be that terrible
If im a human with toughness i start with 13 and then get 7 hp for second lvl and 6 thereafter.

At six is when things would get a lot easier, where I would get reach.

This build isn't supposed to be optimized, I'm just hoping I wont die before lvl 4

Liberty's Edge

man i tried so hard to get those stats to line up. Here it is vertically
Human (1)
str 7

Liberty's Edge

So I have been mulling one over and I think I have something decent. The problem is I mid max really hard.
I have several ability score race combos
note human has favorite class for monk and witch, elf has neither
I'm going to add 1 health every lvl for human

Human (1)___Human (2)___elf (1)___elf(2)____elf(3)
str 7_______str 9_______str 09____str 07____str 10
dex 16______dex 16______dex 16____dex 18____dex 16

wis 12______wis 10______wis 12____wis 10____wis 11
cha 7_______cha 7_______cha 07____cha 09____cha 07
I'm mostly concerned with having 2 sevens.

First I do a 2 lvl dip into Monk (many styles) Then I think the rest into white haired witch
monk 1
feats - (M)Kirin Style, weapon finesse, (H)Toughness
Stunning Fist
monk 2
feats - (M)kirin strike
evasion
WHW(1)3
feats - weapon prof hair
patron- not sure
WHW(2)4
constrict
WHW(3)5
feats - Piranha Strike
trip
WHW(4)6
+5 ft range (hair)

two other feats I'm thinking about is combat reflexes and improved grapple.

So What do you all think. Am I heading the wrong direction here? Also what ability scores would you recommend?

Thanks for reading! =D

....... yup going to call a friend.. thank you for the awesome idea. All though I'm not 100% if PFS will allow me mounting another pc.

Liberty's Edge

I could easily make appearance changes if I have to, but i really appreciate all the help everyone. I might change my +2 in my cha to my str. All though I still wonder if the lance is better than the Fauchard. I will have spirited charge, but I would eventually have a keen weapon... So that's a 15-20 crit range with a Fauchard.

Also the problem with picking a small race and the -2 to str would really hurt. So I'm just going to enlarge my creature with my spell. One of the first items I intend to buy is a rod of extend spell. For PFS that should give me plenty of opportunity to charge gloriously.

Liberty's Edge

so theres no way this can be optimized, the summoner just doesn't have the BAB to be in melee, but what do I care some things just have to be done.

The biggest problem I forsee is subpar stats. I have two ideas and both involve a Half Elf. As a summoner I need a lance (or is fauchard so much better the X3 on lance with charge doesnt beat the 18-20 crit?). So I decided on Half Elf, there +1/4 evolution points can be real helpful.

feats///
1E WP-Fauchard or Lance
1 - mounted Combat
3 - Ride by Attack
5 - Spirated charge
Stats for lvl 1(idea 1) (Pathfinder Society 20 point build)
Str 14
Dex 14
Con 14
Int 10
Wis 10
Cha 16

Stats for lvl 1 (idea 2)
Str 15
Dex 12
Con 14
Int 10
Wis 10
Cha 16

There very similar, but one insures my strength is a solid 16 by lvl 4.

The idea is to get a qudraped type and until lvl 8 enlarge him. Then we charge gloriously into combat. He would pounce with 3 natural attacks (I should always have max attacks) and I would hit with my lance/fauchard. You know simple stuff.
So any ideas anyone can contribute would be awesome. I would like to get her to a high lvl without getting mauled from sucking to much.

Now I know being a summoner this isn't exactly optimal, but Iv'e been fondly remembering DragonLance (stopped reading a while ago is it still good) so I just really want to charge with a pole-arm while on top of a dragon, that's not to much to ask is it?

Liberty's Edge

So I want to make a TWF in PFS ninja2/vivasectionist10
Heres the first couple of lvls
any advice for further feats?
Human
Ninja

str 10
dex 19
con 12
int 14
wis 10
cha 10

two weapon fighting lvl1
weapon fineese lvl1(human bonus)
pirahna strike ninja trick

going to get agile weapons eventually

this sets me back a bit with BAB, but I get wakizashi feat
and ninja trick.

So what do you guys think, worth going this way or should I just
go straight Vivasectionist. I lose wakizashi or any good crit based
weapon.
Also what do you guys think of the ability scores I choose
should i raise or lower int for Viva, do they really need high int?
Should I do anything with charisma, for the ninja ki an extra attack
is pretty useful.

Liberty's Edge

In that case anyone got any ideas for multi-classing or pristage. I was thinking 2 lvls of duelist at 8,9

I know it doesn't seem amazingly efficient,
but I get 2 ac + 1D6 and some other goodies.

All though it seems a little inefficient, I really want to do
a little multi-classing.

My Idea is to get feats to get duelist as well as Dervish Dancer
and just prance around the battlefield poking people.

Liberty's Edge

So I'm going a melee dex build with my inquisitor for PFS legal play.
I currently have a
+4 dex
+3 dex (going to +4 wis at four)

So i was thinking i could get a +4 ac(+5 with a 2 lvl dip into sacred as well as toughness) by going 1 into monk, but I can no longer where armor.

So I'm trying to think if this would be a good idea, i couldn't wear armor
anymore, but i would get a good ac buff. Is it worth it? Or is ac from armor much better in the long run?

Yeah I'm mostly focusing on trip.
This character is actually being built for the Pathfinder Society so I won't really be going past 12.

Liberty's Edge

These are two builds I have been mulling over.

I still have no idea what feats I should go for. Probably power attack, maybe weapon focus(fauchard).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
